Import sites from previous copy

I just did a clean install of Leopard, which means I have my
hard drive backed up on another disk. I just did a fresh install of
Dreamweaver, but I want to move all of my sites into my fresh
install (passwords, server configs, etc.) I can't seem to find
these. I thought it was the Dreamweaver 8 folder in Application
Support, but that did not help. Does anyone know where this file
is?

> AND- Is dw MX still able to run, and are the old sites
still defined on it?

okay- two ways to go.
The upgrade on the same machine should have pulled up all
sites defined on
the older version. Don't know why that didn't work. It's
something that
should work doing a normal upgrade on the same box.
way one:
get the third party mm-exporter utility. I don't use windows
and don't use
this program. But it works.
http://mm-exporter.joexx.de/
way two: if you can open dw MX and "see" the old sites, then
go to dw menu
IN DW MX, manage sites, and use the manage sites dialog box
to select a site
and create a .ste file for that site. Rinse, lather, repeat
for every site
you have defined. Then use the same menu item in cs3 to
"import" those site
definition .ste files
remember- there are two things- the site definition, and the
actual site
files. The site definition tells dw where things are. The
site files are the
things in the site.

  • Importing site from CS5 to CS6

I have been moving my sites from CS5 to CS6.  At the same time I am making the switch to FTPS for all the sites.
On one specific site, I exported, imported into CS6, then made the FTPS changes needed for Yahoo hosted sites.  However, I failed to remember that this site has a different password, which I don't have access to, and I typed over the password.
I thought if I deleted the site in CS6 and imported the .ste from CS5, I would restore the password.  Alas, I am getting a password/login failure error message.
Was my logic in the re-importing invalid?
I also tried to cut/paste the password from the CS5 site I still had available into the CS6 site, but this did not work either.
Any suggestions other than contact Yahoo for assistance?

One other thing that you can do with respect to usernames and passwords on sites is to use Apple's Keychain Access. The folks at Adobe were very smart and they place usernames and passwords into your Keychain Access file every time you create a site and give it a server.
Simply go to your Spotlight search and type "Keychain Access" then click on it and look for your site. You will have to enter your user password to view passwords in Keychain Access, but it will let you re-establish your connection with your web host if you define a new site and mess things up in Dreamweaver.

  • Importing profile from another copy of firefox

I have been working with your files regarding moving Firefox profiles between computers. The instructions listed leave a lot to be desired.
I want to move a profile from Firefox on a PC to Firefox on MacOS (SnowLeopard).
At this point, when I open Troubleshooting information, Show in Finder, there are now three files there. Two are default profiles, including the one I moved from the PC:
    023itdk7.default - which is the folder I saved and moved from the PC;
a0ibrn2u.Me - which is the profile I set up according to what I thought the "Managing Your Profiles" and "Recovering important data from an old profile"was telling me to do; and
l2usuzu74.default (I don't know where this came from).
How do I invoke the one I moved from the PC; or get rid of the other two?
Why have I got so many?
Your instructions concerning individual actions are fine; but the general ghist of the whole activity leaves a lot to be desired.

The general gist is that the Profile name can't be changed on the Profile that you are transferring files into. You need to copy the '''contents''' of the old Profile into the new Profile folder, replacing the file that were in there.

  • How to import site from cs6 to cc if I forgot to export site

I need help getting my sites to Dreamweaver CC.  I just reformated my computer and forgot to do an EXPORT of the sites.  I have all the folders of all my sites. So how do I create a new site and move those files into the new site.  Is there a right and wrong way to do it?  I tried creating a site, but when I go into the root folder I pointed it to the folder isn't there.
    Thanks

If you have the local files (all site files for given sites within individual folders on your hard drive) all you need to do is create a new site definition by going to Site > New Site and for the Local Root Folder, browse to one of those site folders on your HD.
All exporting does is save the server info, credentials and miscelaneous stuff on the back end. It doesn't do anything with your actual files on your hard drive.
EDIT: If your local files were wiped out during your computer reformatting, you can create a new site from the old content online by going to Site > New Site and then placing all of the FTP info into it. Open the site in the Files window of DW and choose Get, then click Yes to Get Entire Site. That will download all of the files off of the remote server to your local machine again.

  • How to import ratings from previous library

I have a corrupted iPhoto '09 library (my aliases have somehow turned into actual files of zero kb) and now iPhoto can't find the original pictures.
If I were to just create a new library and import all my photos again (this time as a managed library), how can I apply my ratings (the little stars) from my previous library? If I name all my events the same, etc. I'm thinking there could be some album data file or something that I could copy into the iPhoto Library package (in a sense replacing the new one with the old one).
Is this or something similar possible?

I'm afraid the only way to move rating from one Library to another is with iPhoto Library Manager. You cannot write ratings to a file as there is no IPTC convention for them. As your previous Library is damaged you may be out of luck.

  • Import Account from Previous System

Through a series of stupid moves, I have ended up with a newly installed operating system that has a new account. But I need to import my previous account that is now part of a Previous System folder. When I try to use Migration Assistant, I am unable to to tell it to import from the Previous System folder that is on my current drive.
Is there anyway around this? Should I copy that user folder to an external drive and bring it in that way?
    Any suggestions would be great.
    Thanks in advance

Everything was going smoothly until it got to the Library folder--then the troubles continued. It seems that folder would not copy over to the Laptop without a permissions error.
Make sure you do not confuse the root level Library folder with the library folder in your home folder. You should have had an image file of your entire original home folder if you followed the Apple procedure, & *while logged in as the root user* copied the entire folder into the root level /Users/ folder in one step. This would copy everything in the home folder over, including its Library folder & all its contents. There should be no permissions issues because the root user is "god" & has permissions to do almost anything.
I assume you now have an image file of the original home folder on something other than the laptop's drive -- otherwise it would have been erased when you "wiped" your laptop. I suggest that you now do the following:
    1. When the install completes, create the first user account with some name *other than* the name of your archived home folder.
    2. Follow the 12 step procedure in How to get files from a previous home directory after Archive and Install very carefully.
    3. You should see the message mentioned in step 9 about using the existing home folder you moved to Users in step 7.

  • Importing sites from MX to CS3

Can someone please tell me how to import all of my existing
sites that I have set up in MX into my new version of CS3? This
seems like it would be such a common question, but I have not been
able to find the answer anywhere.
    Thanks in advance!

There are two elements to migrating your sites:
    1. The FILES that actually make up the website (the HTML
    files, and
associated dependent files) should be copied from Computer A
    to Computer B.
If you use a CD to transport them, be aware that when you
    copy them from the
CD, they will copy as READ ONLY. You will need to use
    Finder/Get
Info/Explorer to reset that Read Only property.
    2. The site definitions that tell DW where to find the files
    for each site,
and what the site's properties/parameters are. Those are
    (when exported
from DW's Site manager) named with an *.ste extension. They
    can be copied
to any location on the new system, and IMPORTED with DW's
    site manager. If
you have used the EXPORTER from
    http://mm-exporter.joexx.de/
    to export the
sites, I don't believe that there is yet a version compatible
    with DWCS3,
unfortunately. At any rate, after you have imported the
    sites, you may need
to adjust the path to each site's local root folder,
    depending on how
similar their location is on the two computers.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 has lost all my custom settings, all my batch actions, all my custom desktops. Can't I import them from previous PSCC, or do I have to create everything over again?

Photoshop CC2014 has just been installed earlier today, and it won't access all of my custom settings from the previous PSCC. I constantly use Batch Actions, always work in custom workspaces, and they're all gone. I can't find an option to retrieve them from the previous version, which seems ridiculous. It will take at least a full day's work to recreate this stuff that's sitting right there in the previous version. Isn't there someway to "update" the new version with my custom batches and workspaces at least?

how do you get to user library preferences.  can't find it in the c drive
The terms you used, "user library" and "c drive" are from Mac and PC architectures respectively.  Read the information at the link I posted more carefully - there are different sections for Mac and PC.
Keep in mind the AppData folder is usually hidden by Microsoft,
Also know that Adobe hasn't updated that page to include specific locations for CC 2014, so you have to look around just a bit when you get to the deepest folder.
As an example, here's where my preferences are on Windows 8.1:
    C:\Users\NoelC\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014

  • Restored OS, can't import mailboxes from previous system

Dang. I've tried every which way to get email files from the archived "previous systems" folder over to my new email library. If I try to import mailboxes, it doesn't detect valid mailboxes to import. If I literally drag and drop email files to the new inbox, the files move over but I can't see them in mail viewer. The only way it has worked is to open each old file individually (they do open and read OK) and choose 'move to' from the message menu. I can then move the file to a mailbox on the new viewer and it shows up fine. But I have thousands of old emails and this would drive me nuts.
    Any input or ideas?

Hi jdlaln, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems, & I think may make the ones you moved over show up...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.

  • Import presets from previous version

Having upgraded from CS to CS4 I want to import my preset crops and brushes into the new version. I can't find any advice elsewhere and would appreciate it if someone could please tell me how to do this.
    Roger

Thanks again. You prompted me to save my CS presets in Edit>Preset Manager>Save Set. This puts them into folders under C/Program Files/Adobe/Photohop CS/Presets/Brushes [/Tools] from where they can be copied and pasted into the corresponding CS4 folders. Then it is necessary to activate them by double-clicking the set in the Brushes folder [or from the Load Set command in the CS4 Preset Manager in the case of Tools] and, hey presto, they appear under the right tool buttons.
I don't know if I've done it the right way because I had to create Brushes and Tools subfolders in the CS4 Presets folder. My saved brush set does not show up under Load Set in the CS4 Preset Manager but the saved crop tools do, making the procedure different for each. To me that's all very weird but everything seems to be working OK.

  • How do I import bookmarks from previous version of Firefox (21) - they disappeared when I installed hte latest update to 22.0?

I had "Plain Old Favorites" installed as an extension and it showed all my bookmarks. Now it is blank - won't function - but I did not see any warning that it was not compatible. How do I convert/import these to use as Firefox bookmarks?

Import your bookmarks from IE. <br />
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Importing+bookmarks+and+other+data+from+other+browsers
PlainOld Favorites needs to be fixed for Firefox 22 by the developer of that extension, who had sufficient notice about the changes which were originally slated to be in Firefox 21 - six weeks ago, at least.

  • Edit iweb site from previous computer system

OK, I created a website in iweb 06 about a year ago, but now I have iweb 08. Since then I also sold my old iMac and have purchased this new one. I want to go in and update this website, but can't find the iweb workspace where I can access the site info, update it, and publish with the changes on my new hard drive. When I type in the www address of the website in safari, it's still there and accessible on the web. But of course this doesn't allow me to make changes.
How do I re-access it to edit and re-publish?
    Thanks!

    iWeb cannot import published files.

  • Importing Song from previous version and audio hardware

I am having major trouble loading songs created in LP6 or 7 into LP8. Since upgrading I have also gone from using a Digi 001 to an HD System with a 192 interface. All the tracks show the device as Direct I-O, which was the driver for the Digi 001 (which I no longer own!) In LP7 I can change these to Core Audio to use the new Digidesign hardware, I can then hear the audio tracks, but doing this seems to take off any plugins and virtual instruments! I can't even work out how to do this in LP8. Surely there must be a way of converting tracks to my current Core Audio setup without losing all the tracks' settings? Help please!
    Gonzo

Is there really no way to do this? I found a tedious workaround by copying the Channel Settings of each track, creating a new track, pasting in the channel settings, renaming, dragging the regions onto the new track, deleting the old one. But that's very boring and lengthy for something which should be able to be changed instantly! I'm glad I went back to using Pro Tools, which handles this kind of thing so much better!
