Import Sorenson mp4 files into FC?
I have a problem importing mp4 files into FC. Perhaps someone could help.
FC's stated acceptable video files are .flv and .f4v.
I use Sorrenson Squeeze 6 (Flash Version) for compressing video. Squeeze does not output to .f4v directly. When I posted to the Sorenson forum regarding this lack of .f4v encoding (i think earlier versions of Squeeze use to export to .f4v), there was a reply that an mp4 file utilizing .aac audio would be importable to Flash.
However, when I attempted to import Sorenson encoded mp4 files, FC did not even recognize the files in the directory. Interestingly, Sorenson has a whole collection of mp4 presets which are entitled Fhash 9+.presets.
Does FC have a different range of acceptable formats than other programs in the Flash family?
Has anyone had expereince with this issue? Any suggested workarounds? I have already tried to rename the Sorenson file with the .f4v extension, but that did not seem to work.

Hi, I am trying to import an MP4 file into FCP. The file has been ripped from a dvd using handbrake. I have written copyright authorisation from the client (who owns the dvd), to do this as they want to to take 3 chapters from their dvd and encode it for web use.
Two of the chapters came in without issue, but the 3rd one will not import.
FCP error message says. File error, 1 file recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown.
Any ideas whats wrong. I have tried it several times using handbrake to no avail.Thanks chaps you have all been very helpful with your advice. I must admit the only reason i chose to use handbrake was that is was the route recommended by an apple trainer! so I took it as red that handbrake was the tool. Following on from your advice, can I identify a chapter from within the vob list, only I have to find 3, 1 minute clips in a 4hr dual disk of 43 chapters. I only know that what I want is in chapters 23, 29 and 30. Can i somehow point streamclip to the specific file or is this not possible?
Lastly I know that the footage format is down as 1024 x 576 strict. In streamclip I cannot see this aspect ratio. Is it best to bring in in as DV Pal anamorphic or set a custom size of 1024 x 576?

IMovie quitting unexpectedly while importing 720p MP4 files
I'm running iMovie/FinalCutPro on Yosemite ,and every time I try and import a 720p MP4 with 60FPS both programs quit unexpectedly while generating the thumbnails. The files I am using have run/imported without any problems into Quicktime, VLC, Adobe Premiere and my brother's iMovie on his Macbook Pro machine.
What I have done in no particular order:
1. Cache/preferences cleaning
2. Re-install iMovie
3. Delete all codecs except AIC and AppleMPEG2
4. Install codecs (Perian, divx, xvid)
5. Delete Flash Player
6. Repair permissions
7. Repair hard drive in safe mode
8. Delete iPhoto database, tinker with GarageBand
9. I logged in as a guest user and the problem persists
10. 540p MP4 with 30FPS and that had no problem importing into iMovie
I believe I have isolated the issue to a quicktime engine that causes both iMovie and Final Cut Pro to crash. I could use Adobe Premiere or another machine, but I prefer iMovie and would like it to work on my machine. The only solution I can think of is reinstalling the OS, but I really am against that. Let me know if you have any other ideas. Please see the Problem Report below:

Can't open a video .mp4 file into CS6
How do I load an .mp4 file into Photoshop CS6 from Bridge? I followed the video tutorial from Adobe - http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/new-video-features-photoshop-cs6.html - which says to load them into Photoshop as layers and I keep getting an error message in Photoshop that says I have to select 2 videos. So I selected 2 videos and still get the same error. I don't know what else to do.
I've also tried from Bridge to select the .mp4 file then go to File > Open with > Photoshop CS6 and I get the following error - Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.Nancy O. wrote:

It's a container format, so I expect whether Photoshop opens or rejects an MP4 will depend on the codec(s) of the contained media.
MP4 containing H.264 video and AAC audio, probably the most commonly used codecs in MP4, certainly open in Photoshop CS6 and play for me. -

Error :- failed to import .xml file into premiere pro cs5
I tried to import the .xml file into premiere CS5 ,it asked for the media files to relink .whn i linked the .mp4 files it showed the error messege "The selected file cannot be linked becouse it has 2 audio channel(s) and the clip was created with 1 audio channel(s).
then i tried to relink the .mov instead of .mp4 file (which i used in final cut pro on apple machine)i got the error "Codec missing or unavailable"
what should i do???..i almost done all the editing in final cut pro and i bought the adobe coz i thought i can finish all the pending FCP projects in Premier Pro..??What is the CODEC in your MOV file(s)? MOV is but a "wrapper," like AVI. This ARTICLE will give you some background. It could be that you just need the proper CODEC, or it could be that it is a Mac-only CODEC, and then you will need for the producer to Export in another CODEC, that is PC-compatible.

I have a project created in Macromedia Director 7. I was told by sales that this would import into Premere Pro.
However I have no Idea how! Any help would be appreciated.I'm happy to announce to you all that my "mp4 importing" issues has been sorted out. Now I import mp4 shot with the same Windows Phone 8 Device into Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. Only that for the moment, it doesn't play as fast as with ordinary player.
But how did I get it to work, you may wonder;
I simply installed Itunes on the system, I also installed an app called media monkey. I can't say which of the apps did the magic but the next time I tried to import mp4 files into Premiere Pro after these installations, it imported seamlessly.
Obviously there's a link between the required codecs and the itunes itself.
You may want to try it and hope it works for you.

For video editing, google... there are countless solutions,

expensive shareware to not so expensive basic tools... Seldom

Import an MP4 movie into my event library...
I'm trying to import an MP4 movie into my event library...all I get is the audio with black thumbnails. What am I doing wrong?

Here is one idea. Get MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5. It is free.
Open MPEG Streamclip. Drag your MP4 file into MPEG Streamclip.
Use FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME...
For Compression, choose h.264.
Leave everything else the same.
Then try to import the resulting file into iMovie, same as before.
If it still does not work, try it again and this time choose Apple Internediate Codec for compression.
This should produce an MOV file with h.264 inside (or AIC inside). -

I have recently upgraded my PRE/PSE bundle to ver 7 primarily because the new version of PRE boasts support for AVCHD.
Having installed the new software I quickly tried editing footage in PRE7 with video taken on my Sony HDR SR12 camera (footage taken in full 1920x1080i HD) and it works! Hoorah! I can now finally edit AVCHD footage in it's native format using PRE. Thank you Adobe!
But my joy was very shortlived because when I tried to import some other footage from the same batch into my PSE7 Video Catalog it wouldn't work. I got a pop up box containing the following error:
i "Nothing was imported. The file(s) or folder(s) selected to import did not contain any supported file types, or the files are already in the catalog."
Under this message is a list of the files that I tried to import. Next to each one there is a reason (it's the same reason for each clip):
i "Reason: The file is damaged or is a format that cannot be included in the Organizer."
To import files I use the following method: File / Get Photos and Videos / From Files and Folders
HOWEVER, the files that I imported directly into PRE7 in order to edit them have (surprise, surprise!) automatically been added PSE7 Organizer's Catalog. It takes a quite a while to generate a thumbnail for each clip but it does eventually do it and when it does I can play that footage in PSE7.
Just in case you're confused by this stage... If I try and manually add files to the PSE7 Organizer it doesn't work BUT if I edit that footage in PRE7 and then load the PSE7 Organizer I see the footage has been automatically added. This makes no sense whatsoever!
Am I doing something really stupid here? Why oh why will the PSE7 Organizer not import .MTS (AVCHD) files?!
NB: While searching for a solution to this problem I have, thanks to this Forum, found out about the K-Lite Codec Pack. I downloaded and installed the Basic pack v4.4.5 and now I can, at least, play my .MTS video files in Windows Media Player... I wish I had found out about that a couple of months ago because it would have saved me from buying Cyberlink PowerDVD 8!
Please someone help before I lose the plot.

As you've probably gathered I have now settled on using Sony's Picture Motion Browser (PMB) to Catalog all my video. Sorry Adobe to talk about someone elses product but the Adobe Organizer just can't cope with AVCHD footage no matter how you manage to import it! It's far too sluggish and my PC has an Intel Core i7 940 CPU with 6GB RAM and a 10,000 RPM HDD!
Anyway, in my first post you'll have read me raving about the K-Lite Codec Pack but sadly I've had to uninstall it because it kept on causing PMB to crash. PMB runs much smoother and quicker WITHOUT that codec pack. Something about it clashed with PMB. The once agile PMB became sluggish and unresponsive.
Having now removed the codec pack PMB is back to being agile and generaly lovely.
To view AVCHD footage outside of PMB I have reverted to using Cyberlink's PowerDVD 8 - there's always a pregnant pause between double-clicking on the clip and it playing but that's the only drawback.
If you are going to use Sony's PMB for cataloging your video collection (and I recommend you do so BUT only if you have AVCHD footage - otherwise stick to Adobe's Organiser) then I can fully recommend "Analyzing" all of your footage. This takes time and a bit of patience because it kept stopping for no apparent reason but would readily start up again (without having to do anything else) BUT once it's done it'll reward you with the following:
*Filter on any combination of Scenery, People, Smiles - e.g. with a click of a button you can isolate footage that contains smiles, etc
*Face Search - if you select some or all of the footage in the right-hand pane it will then put a small thumbnail for all of the different faces in that selected footage in the bottom "Face Search" pane. If you then click on one of those thumbnails it will jump to the clip(s) that contain that face and grey out all the other clips
*Expand Videos - This tool is brilliant! In normal viewing mode you get a thumbnail of the video whether you're in Folder view, Calender view or Detail List view. If, however, you select "Expand Videos" from the tool bar it will show you a series of frames contained within that clip. You can choose from "Highlights" or various regular intervals (5 secs, 10 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, etc). The Highlights option does a pretty good job of picking out the significant changes within the clip
Lastly, I have discovered that you can drag a clip from Sony's PMB into PRE7. It won't let you put it directly onto the Timeline but it will let you drop it into the Project file list (found under the Edit tab).
I do hope that this info has helped others like me who are trying to get to grips with editing and cataloging AVCHD footage.

I can't import my iTunes files into pages, how can i fix the privileges problem?
when i try to import any mp3 file into a pages document, i get an access privileges error saying it is either corrupt, damaged or "can't be used" because I don't have access privileges. This has happened since I moved my iTunes library to an external drive. Anyone have any solutions? The privileges on both the library folder, and all its files are set to read and write for sharing and permissions.
If you do not have done so, set the "Ignore Ownership" flag on the external drive. YOu can set this flag from the "File > Get Info" panel for the drive.
How is your external drive formatted?
Can other applications open these mp3 files? QuickTime? Do they play in the Finder preview?
Do the filenames contain special charcters?

If so, how can I create oData services dynamically ?

How to Import Vector Identified Files into Photoshop Without Losing Quality
Hello,
I am creating a series of music worksheets on photoshop. I have created some music scores in a music writing software called Sibelius 7. It has the capability to export the sheet music graphics in the following forms: .pdf, .eps, .bmp, .tiff, .png, .svg .
However, I have tried to 'place' each of them into my photoshop file to see which one will work. But on saving the photoshop document as a .pdf with any of the graphics formats, the vector quality of the image has been lost, as it pixelates on zooming in. I have also tried to import an .svg file into adobe illustrator to save it as an .ai file and then import that into photoshop, but the image is again pixelated.
I don't really know what is happening, as I am essentially trying to import a file that is a vector (or at least does not pixelate on zooming) into photoshop, hoping for the same qualities to be retained, but it is being lost for some reason.
What should I do?
Thank you.Thank you for your reply. I opened the vectored pdf into illustrator. I tested illustrator by saving that document as a new pdf and the vector quality was still retained. I the following images, I copied and pasted the vector from illustrator into photoshop. However, on saving this new photoshop document as a pdf, it does not retain the vector format, as you can see with the pixelation that occurs when zooming in on an object.

Only video, no audio after first clip?
