Import Sort

Hi,
After shooting RAW+Jpeg, is there a way to sort the images by file type in the LR4 import window? This way I can import just he RAW or just the Jpeg files without having to click on each file to check it?

The short answer: no.
As path of least resistance, I recommend importing all, then delete/remove the ones you don't want.
There are other paths, if you prefer more resistance .

Import - sort by "media type" not working?

When importing media from my iphone I'd like to ONLY import jpgs, not the mov files. In searching, the sort option in the import dialog on "media type" should work so I can easily just select new jpg files, however this does nothing for me. Is this supposed to work? I'm running OSX 10.7.2 and LR 3.6.
Any ideas? Does this sort function work for anyone?

Ok. Never mind what I said about selecting the sort order before selecting the folder.
I just checked again on my computer and (LR3) was able to sort by media type, by date, by name etc. from a folder on my desktop drives.
It even worked when importing from a media card. This is weird.
Although everything seems to work for me now however I do remember having encountered the same issue before.
There might be a bug. It would be nice to have someone from Adobe or LR to explain the limitations if any of this sort function.

Import sort order

It seems we have a new import system whereby new events are added to the top, but from oldest to newest. The problem is my events are sorted manually but essentially from newest to oldest. This used to work fine but now the order is backwards on all new imports. Is there a preference for this? Even if I manually reorder all my events from oldest to newest, any new events will still appear at the wrong end no?

Thanks Terence but will that not reorder my entire list of events if they've been manually sorted? Many of my events are simply consolidations of say a years worth of my kids random pics and other misc groups, not to mention scans of old photos which we're never time stamped. I've accidentally 'sorted by' once before and the results were not pretty. Took me days to reorder them.

Importing - sorts image names all kooky - not in order

You can see that in the import dialog box, Lightroom puts images out of order. Image number 110 comes after image number 1099 and before image number 1100.
C'mon guys, fix this!!! This is basic sorting that should not be like this. It's going to take me quite a long time to manually uncheck the images that I do not want to import.
The images should be listed in proper numerical order! I have not had to deal with this bass ackwards behavior since Mac OS 9.

Maybe it should be, but it's always safest to name them so they will sort properly in any program. I thought I was fine too with some naming without leading zeros until I wanted to use a particular slide show and it wasn't smart enough. So I always name things so they will sort without any "smarts" about how humans like to name things.
Meanwhile, can you sort by date? Should that be the same in your case, or not...

AUR package interface - sort criteria out of action

The "search by" field on the main AUR package list (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php) now only contains name and maintainer. There used to be at least 5 options, one of which was the ability to search by age. Searches in reverse order are also no longer possible.
Problem exists regardless of logged in status.
Can this be corrected please.

LR 4 Not Importing RAW+JPEG

Here's a strange one.
Currently running Mac OS X 10.7.3, LR 3.6 installed as well as the 30-day demo of the release version of LR 4.0. Importing from a camera-formatted Sandisk 8GB Extreme Pro (45MB/sec)
Camera - Sony A77.
Problem - Importing RAW+JPEG using LR4 only imports the RAW, not the JPEG. I've already checked "Treat JPEGs as separate..." option in LR 4, yet when I pull up the import dialog about half the time I simply don't see the JPEGs next to my ARW files...only the ARW. All import sorting options are off.
I can then simultaneously open LR 3 and upon attempted import, I'm presented with all files just fine.
Back to LR4 again, still only the ARW, even after "quitting" the app and reopening.
It gets stranger, though - As I was typing this, I went ahead and tried to import again in LR4 and THIS time JPEGs are showing up along side RAW. I even double-checked to make sure I was using LR4's window and now LR 3.
Anyone else having this issue??

Bumping this thread because I'm also having the problem. LR4 on Lion 10.7.3, never used the LR4b release. Only the first 10-20 images come in as NEF+JPG and after that I get only JPGs. Just imported six 8GB cards without realizing the problem, since it never used to be one...
My workaround has been to manually transfer files off the card into the destination, and then 'Synchronize Folder..." in LR. The import dialoge that pops up has no problem showing all the files correctly, and they import without problems. This leads me to believe the bug has something to do with importing directly from the card or camera.
I understand any major new release is bound to have some bugs, but this, in conjunction with LR4 crashing any time I try to print, is making the newest release pretty useless for me. The Library and Print modules account for 85% of my time in LR, with the Develop module accounting for the rest (Maps/Books/Slideshows/Web are never opened, ever). In the most abstract sense, LR is made for streamlining the input and output of images, and neither of those processes are working for me.

Short list of some vendors supporting XMP

I am working on getting a list of vendors that support XMP together - below is a short list of vendors with mostly "off the shelf" products.
There are of course larger asset management vendors such as IBM, Media Bank, etc. that support XMP - working on getting that together.
I thought this might be helpful regarding some questions I was hearing regarding search etc.

How do I use Internet accounts to add accounts to mail in mavericks

I used migration Assistant to Migrate to a new Imac(late 2013), The new machine was 10.8.4 so the very first thing I did was add an account so I could update. I suspect this was the root cause of my problem because then when I migrated the account I had to rename it
Everything worked fine except for mail. Note under library/mail I still had a 45Gb folder.
My internet accounts had a list of all the mail accounts I used to have but mail itself was empty. All the accounts are imap so I have not lost mail.
Trying things mentioned on the forum I tried deleting the accounts under internet accounts and re-adding, and I tried importing from the mail folder. Importing sort of worked but created a big mess of mail under a import folder.
Where I am right now. I deleted everything including my library/mail folder.
I go to mail. I do add acount, I add a icloud account, I select paul...me.com It adds the account.
I then can go to accounts and see my me.com address with mail ticked.
And nothing. Mail just sits their blank.
Now I can trick it it into adding one account, when everything is blank, instead of giving me the new system preferences internet accounts it gives me the old accounts from mail 10.8, I can then add 1 account under their and it will work., As soon as it has one account it then goes back to giving me the system preference internet accounts which just lets me add acounts but does not work with mail.

At this point the simplest solution is probably to put everything else from the old user into the new one, hopefully without breaking anything else.

Should I still use iPhoto? I want to store my photos on a NAS

I'm trying to come up with a new photo workflow now that I have a Synology NAS on my home network. In the past, I've just let iPhoto do its thing, but now I'm not so sure I should even use iPhoto, given how my needs have changed. Some background:
I have a new 13" rMBP with 256GB of solid-state storage. For what I need, this should be plenty, as long as I find a new home for my 100GB of digital photos. I also have a Synology DS213j with 2 3GB Western Digital Red drives in a mirrored RAID configuration on my home network. I want to use this as my primary photo storage location, so I get the security of a mirrored RAID configuration and I am using Amazon Glacier for offsite backup (not to mention freeing up 100GB of storage on my rMBP).
I think I can make this work, but I want to get some opinions. Synology offers a nice system they call Photo Station that looks to be a great fit for organizing and browsing. I can use a combination of Image Capture and Hazel to help import, sort and organize any new photos. For any images that I need to edit, I plan on bringing a copy to my local drive, edit with Pixelmator, and then push the changes back to the NAS.
From what I've read, I can't simply copy the iPhoto library over to my NAS, that will cause all sorts of chaos, so my thought is to export all of the photos from my iPhoto library to my Synology NAS. For file export kind, should I use current or original? Once I complete this process, is there any value in even using iPhoto? Anything else I should consider?

No you should not continue to use iPhoto. You can't have an iPhoto Library on an NAS. The disk format is wrong and iPhoto is not designed for network access. End of story.
Neither should you use iPhoto in Referenced mode with the Photos on a NAS as that's just storing up problems.

That said, iPhoto is due to be replaced soon - in the coming months - by a new App, and this may not have that issue. For instance, there are no such reservations bout running referenced Aperture library - so who knows what may come with the new (that also replaces aperture.)
So, you might want to hold on making any big decisions until you see the options. Why? Because what you're describing as a workflow is moving to an entirely different kind of workflow. You're going from non-destructive with iPhoto, to lossy and destructive in your suggested replacement. Is that what you want?
What you export from iPhoto really depends on what you want: the original unedited image? Or a version of the edited one? What's for sure is the one thing you don't want is to export as Current - that's just a preview and missing loads of metadata.

Diagnosis
An invalid extract structure has been assigned to the DataSource. An extract structure has to be active in the DDIC. It cannot be a view, since the customer is not able to add append fields for filling in the customer exits to a view.

How to Insert data from Table A to Table B

Hi,
I have to insert data from Table A into Table B.
Table A is having 100 records and table B is having 10000 records.
Condition is if data in Table A is not in table B then I have to insert into Table B or else I have to skip that.
Can anyone help me with sample code.

Assuming that tables A and B have the same structure you can use the same logic as change documents are prepared. Assuming both of your itabs are of structure struc_a. Then define the following type:
TYPES: BEGIN OF ty_s_itab_di.
INCLUDE TYPE struc_a.
TYPES: CHIND TYPE bu_chind.
TYPES: END OF ty_s_itab_di.
TYPES: ty_t_itab_di TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF ty_s_itab_di
WITH DEFAULT KEY.
DATA: gt_itab_old TYPE ty_t_itab_di,
gt_itab_new TYPE ty_t_itab_di.
Fill itabs gt_Itab_old with the corresponding data of itab1 and gt_itab_new with the corresponding data of itab2.
Very important: sort you itabs either by all key fields or by all fields.
Call function CHANGEDOCUMENT_PREPARE_TABLES with the following parameters:
- CHECK_INDICATOR = ' '
- TABLE_NEW = gt_Itab_new
- TABLE_OLD = gt_itab_old
The function module will remove identical lines from both itabs. New entries in gt_itab_New will have CHIND = 'I' and deleted entries in gt_itab_old will have CHIND = 'D'. Modified entries are indicated by CHIND = 'U'.
Read the documentation of the function module and play around with it. You will see that this a quite easy yet powerful approach for comparing itabs.

Aperture as a finishing tool

Hello,
The Aperture discussions well document the varying usefulness people find for Aperture, and while everyone it seems is united in the potential we can see, there appears to be heavy division on whether Aperture can be integrated successfully into workflow (for a variety of reasons) -- therefore I don't wish to even touch that part of the debate. I know others have had successful experiences, which is great, and I applaud. For me, Aperture is unusable in the importing / sorting / proofing / editing portion of the workflow. Ironically, working with Aperture has honed my Bridge/ACR/Photoshop workflow, and I'm really optimistic about Bridge feature additions. That's me -- I know everyone else is different, and that's fine -- don't wish to discuss that. The reason I say all this is that I see another area where Aperture could really shine, and become part of my workflow, despite not being used in these other areas, and that is as a finishing tool.
I have no knowledge of how long it will take to fix the myriad of problems metioned in these discussions, and after pondering matters further, even if the app were perfectly bug free, certain design decisions may still leave the way some photographers choose to work out in the cold. But I'd love to see effort poured into filling out the book publishing options, ability to create and burn slideshows to DVD, and integration with printers and printing services. As a more feature-rich finishing tool, I might be able to use Aperture again , as that is a part of the workflow that presently includes its share of manual work and other tools.
Likewise, from using iPhoto, which is at version 5.0.4, and still has a serious image adjustment problem with distorted images, I sense that focusing on finishing would be a more immediate path for Aperture to mastering at least some part of the workflow, and making Aperture more generally usable for photographers. Someone posted a while back that they felt that Aperture should do at least one part of the workflow well, and be able to be integrated in a non-disruptive way. I agree with this view, and after nearly 50k posts on the discussions, is pretty apparent that the hotspots in the workflow are the areas where Aperture has had problems for many. Rather than pour all resource into this area of the workflow, and be struggling with it for the next year, perhaps the finishing stage of the workflow could be an immediate area of Aperture focus, and be made very solid and feature rich in a matter of months.

a job in a process chain was failed with this error message:
DataSource ZPRODUCT_STATUS_TEXT has to be replicated (time stamp, see long text) R3 16
our R/3 system it was upgraded one week ago for the ECC6 version and our BW version is still 3.0b, i don't know if because the upgrade processus i get this error and i have to do something in the BW system...

Comparing Application server file and internal table

hi all
Iam new to the world of ABAP. I have a requirement wherein i need to compare data in a internal table and that of the file. I need to extract the delta records( ie the record is found in the internal table but not in the file and vice versa ) and put it in another internal table. Which is the best way to do it?
