Import soundtrack cd to itunes properly??

I imported several soundtrack to itunes and itunes divides some of the soundtracks into separate icons. any way to recombine?

It is my under standing you must edit the tags manually

Happens all the time and you are probably correct about cause.
Some CD manufacturers use various forms of copy protection on discs designed to interfere with computers reading the discs. I have found iTunes to be very picky about this too. I have had several discs iTunes would not acknowledge but could rip with another program. Other times the fix is as simple as cleaning the disc ro turning on error correction for the ripping process.

Importing soundtracks (e. g. Musical soundtracks)

Importing soundtracks (e. g. Musical soundtracks) with different sets of musicians from Compact Disc, iTunes behaves as if I had imported different tracks and in CoverView the title appears as if there were many titles with the same CD cover. This makes my library difficult to overlook, as ten compact discs will result in dozens of identical covers. Is there any method to put together the different tracks into one collection which appears as a single title (with the corresponding CD cover) in CoverView?

Importing CD's to iTunes fail with "The required folder cannot be found"

I have my iTunes library on an external drive. Everything works fine, except that I cannot import CD's into iTunes. When I try, I get the error "The required folder cannot be found". My work around currently is to:
1. Upfdate my preference for "iTunes Media Folder Location" to the standard location by clicking on the "Reset" button.
2. Import the CD
3. Copy the folder that it created with the songs to the correct location on the external disk
4. Update the preference or Folder Location back to my external library location
5. Double click on the first song where I get the message that it cannot be located
6. Locate it manually, and iTunes then searches for the others and fix the location.
This is extremely frustrating and impractical. I am on the very latest release and it is still happening. Does anyone know how to get around it?

I have the same problem as pyzaptys' with the exception that there is no My Music folder in the default location. I created one but the iTunes install cannot see it. I used the tweakui as suggested in the response to the original post but the app does not see the My Music folder in the special folders selections.
I have tried many angles but to no avail.

I get an error when trying to import MP3 files in iTunes?

When I try to import mp3 files into iTunes (version 6), I get an error message of:
The file "song file name" can not be imported An unknown error has occurred (-50).
I have already imported these files into iTnes on my old computer, but run into this problem with my new laptop. I downloaded a new version of iTunes just like I installed all my new programs on this new laptop.
For some reason, I run into this problem when trying to import any mp3 files (as mentioned, even mp3 files that I successfully imported into iTunes previously).
(I've tried a complete removal and re-install, but that didn't help)
Anyone know why I'm getting this error message and how to correct things?

I cant load that one folder, what could be the problem? I've loaded another folder similar to this one but it was alot smaller and everything worked out fine, but for my big one its messing up.

The problem is that iTunes has separated all the tracks that feature another artist into a separate album. I want all the songs filed under the same album, so that when I play the whole album, I can hear all the songs. Also when the album work is not showing up on some of these CDs. How can I fix this?

The sort fields should generally be empty unless you've putting in custom values to sort solo artists by their surnames. You can apply common changes to thousands of tracks at once, just don't apply the wrong change because there is no undo.
It is a good idea to backup before undertaking large scale changes. See this backup tip for a suggested approach.

If your CD has tracks with different artists, then you need to identify it as a 'compilation' CD. Select all of the tracks in the CD, then 'get info' (control-I), and go to 'Options'. Select 'yes' for 'Part of a compilation'. That should fix the problem.

What I did was to put in the same name for Album Artist in every track. That seemed to do the trick (previously all those fields were empty). It seems like a lot of work for a simple thing.
iTunes knows (or should know) that these tracks were imported from one CD. So why is it relying on incomplete data from the gracenote database?

How to burn songs from one itunes account to import into a new itunes acct

I have set up seperate playlists for my children under my itunes account. However, my son is now older and receiving itunes gift cards and we want to set up his own itunes account but don't want to loose the songs we have purchased for him under my itunes account. We want these songs to still be available for him to sync to his ipod so we think we need to burn the songs to a disk so they can then be imported into his new itunes account. He doesn't want to loose track of his itunes money nor do I want him to be able to purchase songs using my itunes acct credit card info without my knowledge, therefore, we think we need to set up a new itunes account for his personal use. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Not necessary. If you want to copy song files to a new computer, copy them to a USB flash drive, and then from the flash drive to the new computer.

He should definitely have his own iTunes library, be it on the shared computer or on his own computer. As for a separate account in the iTunes Store, that is really up to you, depending how the family shares.

TA47831 How can I import a playlist to iTunes?

An old article (http://support.apple.com/kb/TA47831) explained how to export an iTunes playlist to an .m3u file and reimport it. This functionality no longer works with the newer version of iTunes (I'm running iTunes 10.6 on Windows 7). This is presumably why the article has been retired and is no longer supported by Apple.
If I export a playlist, change its name, then reimport the result is an empty playlist. Here is an example of one of the lines from the .m3u file:

As you can see my file is an mp3 on a remote server ("nef") and works perfectly well in the "Music" section of iTunes.
What I really want to do is to import some playlists that have been generated elsewhere (for example using a script to identify all the US hits of the 1980s with the word "power" somewhere in the lyrics). I figured the easiest way to do that would be to work out what format of playlist iTunes would be able to import and generate one of those, I was somewhat surprised to discover that iTunes can't even import a playlist it has just exported.

I can not import to iPad from iTunes some of my presentations.

I cannot import to iPad from iTunes some of my presentations. I get this message:"Presentation couldn’t be imported. An error occurred." That's it? I am blank off at Steve. Why cannot I simply drag and drop like any other decent software can from my saved presentations on my HD to appropriate directory in iPad? I have spent countless hours preparing those presentations. OK, let me think. I am going to do them over, spent so more countless hours just to find out that I cannot import them. Wow, because you have created presentations that obviously have an error in them and so they cannot be used by the iPad, it is Steve's fault.

Error message when trying to import a CD into iTunes

I get an error message when I try to import a CD into iTunes that says the disk cannot be found. I recently requested to uninstall Tune-up because I kept receiving annoying messages to purchase the software. It looks like Tune-up is deactivated, but now I can't import music. Any suggestions?

Without much to go on I think your drive is having problems. It may be something minor such as dust which could possibly be removed using a drive cleaning disc (computer supply store or CD store), or it could be an irregular error in a laser, or tracking, or loose cable, or...
One way to eliminate any iTunes possibility is if it is consistently doing this with a particular CD then try an alternative ripping tool such as XLD or Max.
