Import speeds differ between 2 cd drives

I have a little bit of a curious problem.
I have 2 cd drives one drive imports at approx. 30x. The second imports at 5x. The first drive is rated at 40x and second 48x.
I am running ITunes 9.1.1.12 on a WindowsXP system with an Intel i5 CPU with 4GB of ram..
I ran Nero's DiskSpeed which tests the speed of a cd drive. Both drives read at approx. 30x so I don't think it is the drive or the driver.
The curious thing to me is that one drive is fast and the other is a slug.
I would reinstall ITunes but I don't want to lose my playlists.

so the answer is to remove the drive, uninstall and reinstall itunes and then install the drive. I don't know what itunes stores but this seemed to do the trick.

  • Importing speed dropped to almost zero

Hi. I've been updating my iTunes library with an average import speed of between 10-15, but now it's dropped to 0.8 making importing Cds impossible. I've tried several Cds and this problem is constant. I've also tried the diagnostic check and it's not flagging up any issues with the Cd drive.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? iTunes recognises the Cds ok, it's just not importing them quickly.
    Thanks.

  • Whats the diff between copying a Transport request and Importing a request?

    Hi gurus,
Can some one explain me the difference between copying a transport request between clients and importing transport request between clients? say for eg: difference between copying a transport request containing a datasource being copied from client 100 to client 200 and importing the same request from client 100 to client 200?... When do we follow such scenario's?
    thanks.
    kishore

    Hi Kishore,
A request copy applies only for customizing (client dependent) objects.
A request tracks object modifications since its last transport. if the object is created in source system and included in a transport request, when it is transported to another system, it will create the object in target system. Then if you modify the  object, it will include modifications since last transport.
As i said, a request copy is only valid for customizing objects. This is entries in tables, you will see that you have two kind of requests, customizing and workbench. Workbench objects are client independent, so request copy doesn't applies.
it's very important to keep the order of requests when you transport and also not to delete requests in any system.
Hope this helps (and hope it is clear, if you have any doubt, just ask!).
    Regards,
    Diego

  • Can I split my iTunes library between 2 hard drives?

Can iTunes library be split between to hard drives?
    Hi,
My laptop has 2 x 250GB internal hard drives. I wish there was 1 x 500 GB one.
1 of them is nearly full with music only 2GB remaining and the other one has over 100GB remaining.
I'm wondering is it possible to split the location of the library between the 2 drives without too much trouble or is it messy or even possible?!
In other words when I open iTunes the music that is on the nearly full hard drive will remain there and any music I import going forward will be re-directed to the other hard drive but still appear in iTunes along with the music from the other drive.
    Thanks...

    I have the same question.
I would like to be able to do the same thing with all my media. I'm a DJ and certain aspects of Mac Os X Lion or iCloud, and iTunes Match, don't favor folks with tons of media, storage wise. I'm not happy that there's a limit on how much space iCloud will give you. Yet, I feel forced to upgrade to Lion within the next 4 days. I've been hesitant to rip my collection or even upload all those digital copies because where will I put all those files. I agree with needing like 4-8T just to store, but how? I don't have Thunderbolt, only Firewire on late '08 iMac 20" and USB on 08 MacBook 13" Aluminum. Bleh!
If you can use Time Capsule to back up your entire network with more than one computer, it would seem likely that you should be able to piggy back 2 xTime Capsules. I believe they come with 2-3Ts now and you can get them refurbished? I'm gonna look at Time Capsule Support to find out for myself, I'll let you know what I find, also. One thing I did noticed was that I had uploaded a bunch of Digital Copies from movies I had bought from Blu-Ray Combo Packs like 2 years ago and deleted them from MacBook for more space, only to recently find that they had been saved as purchased items from the iTunes Store. So now I can grab them from iTunes and watch them anytime off my Apple TV.
    Good Luck,

  • Diff between Seeburger Adapter and File Adapter

    Hi All,
My company needs to interact with some banks and the banks are particular that they want SFTP, which is not supported by  File Adapter, so we have decided to go with Seeburger adapter.
Now what are the differences between File adapter and seeburger adapter?
I believe that Seeburger adapter does not support File Content Conversion, Archiving etc.
Could you all pls put some light on the diff between file adapter and seeburger adapter when it comes to dealing with files?
    Xier

    Hi
You are aware with working of File Adapter.
The most direct way of using the Seeburger adaptors is to configure the BIC as a module. There is a software component from seeburger called bicmapper which will allow you to
    1. Define or import the inbound message metadefinition in various formats ( edifact, xml,...)
    2. Using a mapping create an xml variant as the output metadefinition or edifact in the other direction.
    3. Create a one to one mapping between input en output.
    4. Export the metadata in xsd or sda format for import in XI
    5. Generate an SDA which can be deployed in XI and used as a module.

  • LR 1.3 import speed

Are there preferences or some other settings that can be adjusted to significantly improve the import speed?
On a system with an e6700 processor, SATA mirror drives, and 4GB of memory running XP64 - I dump a dozen or so directories with around 9500 .dng files total, and LR takes forever to get them imported... This thing has been sitting here churning for over 2 hours and its still not done......
Images, cache, swapfile, and product are all on separate spindles, so I presume there's got to be some setting (or settings) I have dreadfully wrong for things to be this slow... So, what do I change to speed this up 'cause this is only about 20% of what I'm organizing and I'd rather not have LR take a week to just import the images?

Since LR is STILL churning I can't look at the preferences, but I thought there was something that told it to just use whatever was in the imported image? If so, shouldn't this get rid of this insanely long process of rendering? Or is this just one of those things I'll have to start when I go to bed and hope its managed to do a few thousand images by morning?...
Are ALL these tools this poor performing? I haven't tried this in iView or one of the others, but if they're significantly faster I can see dumping LR back on the shelf until something gets done to improve this.

  • Diff between index , search help , match code

wht is Diff between index , search help , match code

    Hi,
There is no difference between Search helps and match code objects.
Search helps are the Advanced concept of Match codes.
SAP Converted match codes to Search helps.
    Index :
An Index is a copy of database table having few numbers of fields. This copy is always in sorted form. As we know, Sorted data would always have a speed access from a database table. Hence, we use an index for the table while reading the database records. Index also contains a pointer pointing towards actual database table so that it can access fields that are not contained in the Index

  • Main diff between call transaction and session method

    hi frnds.
my friend went for an interview they asked her whts the diff between call tran adn session?
she told more thn one transaction we can call for an session she told itseems. but he told tht by cal tran also u cn call more thn one tran it seems... so please canu help me out regarding this question? how we hve to tell in interview?
    in advance thanks....

    Hi
Batch Input and CALL TRANSACTION are both data transfer methods. Batch Input usually are used to transfer large amount of data. For example you are implementing a new SAP project, and of course you will need some data transfer from legacy system to SAP system. If there is no standard batch input program, direct input program, you would need to write your own data transfer program and it is going to be batch input program. CALL TRANSACTION methods is real-time method, whenever you run the program CALL TRANSACTION can be triggered. CALL TRANSACTION is used especially for integration actions between two SAP systems or between different modules. Users sometimes wish to do something like that click a button or an item then SAP would inserts or changes data automatically. Here CALL TRANSACTION should be considered. You use CALL TRANSACTION and you do everything automatically, collect necessary data, call transaction and so do database update. If any error occurs, show the user them.
    Batch Input
With the Batch Input method, an ABAP program reads the external data that is to be entered in the R/3 System and stores the data in a “batch input session”. The session records the actions that are required to transfer data into the system using normal SAP transactions.
When the program has generated the session, you can run the session to execute the SAP transactions in it. You can explicitly start and monitor a session with the batch input management function (by choosing System - Services - Batch Input), or have the session run in the background processing session.
It offers management of sessions, support for playing back and correcting sessions that contain errors, and detailed logging. Your program prepares the data and stores it in a batch input session. A session is a collection of transaction data for one or more transactions. Batch input sessions are maintained by the system in the batch input queue. You can process batch input sessions in the background processing system.
Your program must open a session in the queue before transferring data to it, and must close it again afterwards. All of these operations are performed by making function modules calls from the ABAP program.
The most important aspects of the session interface are:
    Asynchronous processing
    Transfer data for multiple transactions
Synchronous database update. During processing, no transaction is started until the previous transaction has been written to the database.
A batch input processing log is generated for each session
Sessions cannot be generated in parallel. The batch input program must not open a session until it has closed the preceding session.
    CALL TRANSACTION
In the second method, your program uses the ABAP statement CALL TRANSACTION USING to run an SAP transaction. External data doesn’t have to be deposited in a session for later processing. Instead, the entire batch input process takes place inline in your program. With CALL TRANSACTION USING, the system process the data more quickly than with batch input sessions. Unlike batch input sessions, CALL TRANSACTION USING does not automatically support interactive correction or logging functions.
Your program prepares the data and then calls the corresponding transaction that is then processed immediately.
The most important features of CALL TRANSACTION USING are:
    Synchronous processing
Transfer of data from an individual transaction each time the statement CALL TRANSACTION USING is called
You can update the database both synchronously and asynchronously. The program specifies the update type.
Separate LUW (Logical Units of Work) for the transaction. The system executes a database commit immediately before and after the CALL TRANSACTION USING statement.
    No batch input processing log

  • Hi guru's what is the diff between for all entries & joins

hi guru's what is the diff between for all entries & joins

    Hi Vasu,
Joins are used to fetch data fast from Database tables:
Tables are joined with the proper key fields to fetch the data properly.
    If there are no proper key fields between tables don't use Joins;
Important thing is that don't USE JOINS FOR CLUSTER tableslike BSEG and KONV.
    Only use for Transparenmt tables.
You can also use joins for the database VIews to fetch the data.
    JOINS
... FROM tabref1 [INNER] JOIN tabref2 ON cond
    Effect
The data is to be selected from transparent database tables and/or views determined by tabref1 and tabref2. tabref1 and tabref2 each have the same form as in variant 1 or are themselves Join expressions. The keyword INNER does not have to be specified. The database tables or views determined by tabref1 and tabref2 must be recognized by the ABAP Dictionary.
In a relational data structure, it is quite normal for data that belongs together to be split up across several tables to help the process of standardization (see relational databases). To regroup this information into a database query, you can link tables using the join command. This formulates conditions for the columns in the tables involved. The inner join contains all combinations of lines from the database table determined by tabref1 with lines from the table determined by tabref2, whose values together meet the logical condition (join condition) specified using ON>cond.
Inner join between table 1 and table 2, where column D in both tables in the join condition is set the same:

Output a list of all flights from Frankfurt to New York between September 10th and 20th, 2001 that are not sold out:
    DATA: DATE LIKE SFLIGHT-FLDATE,
    CARRID LIKE SFLIGHT-CARRID,
    CONNID LIKE SFLIGHT-CONNID.
    SELECT FCARRID FCONNID F~FLDATE
    INTO (CARRID, CONNID, DATE)
FROM SFLIGHT AS F INNER JOIN SPFLI AS P
    ON FCARRID = PCARRID AND
    FCONNID = PCONNID
    WHERE P~CITYFROM = 'FRANKFURT'
    AND P~CITYTO = 'NEW YORK'
    AND F~FLDATE BETWEEN '20010910' AND '20010920'
    AND FSEATSOCC < FSEATSMAX.
    WRITE: / DATE, CARRID, CONNID.
    ENDSELECT.
If there are columns with the same name in both tables, you must distinguish between them by prefixing the field descriptor with the table name or a table alias.
    Note
In order to determine the result of a SELECT command where the FROM clause contains a join, the database system first creates a temporary table containing the lines that meet the ON condition. The WHERE condition is then applied to the temporary table. It does not matter in an inner join whether the condition is in the ON or WHEREclause. The following example returns the same solution as the previous one.
    Example
Output of a list of all flights from Frankfurt to New York between September 10th and 20th, 2001 that are not sold out:
    DATA: DATE LIKE SFLIGHT-FLDATE,
    CARRID LIKE SFLIGHT-CARRID,
    CONNID LIKE SFLIGHT-CONNID.
    SELECT FCARRID FCONNID F~FLDATE
    INTO (CARRID, CONNID, DATE)
FROM SFLIGHT AS F INNER JOIN SPFLI AS P
    ON FCARRID = PCARRID
    WHERE FCONNID = PCONNID
    AND P~CITYFROM = 'FRANKFURT'
    AND P~CITYTO = 'NEW YORK'
    AND F~FLDATE BETWEEN '20010910' AND '20010920'
    AND FSEATSOCC < FSEATSMAX.
    WRITE: / DATE, CARRID, CONNID.
    ENDSELECT.
    Note
Since not all of the database systems supported by SAP use the standard syntax for ON conditions, the syntax has been restricted. It only allows those joins that produce the same results on all of the supported database systems:
Only a table or view may appear to the right of the JOIN operator, not another join expression.
Only AND is possible in the ON condition as a logical operator.
Each comparison in the ON condition must contain a field from the right-hand table.
If an outer join occurs in the FROM clause, all the ON conditions must contain at least one "real" JOIN condition (a condition that contains a field from tabref1 amd a field from tabref2.
    Note
In some cases, '*' may be specified in the SELECT clause, and an internal table or work area is entered into the INTO clause (instead of a list of fields). If so, the fields are written to the target area from left to right in the order in which the tables appear in the FROM clause, according to the structure of each table work area. There can then be gaps between table work areas if you use an Alignment Request. For this reason, you should define the target work area with reference to the types of the database tables, not simply by counting the total number of fields. For an example, see below:
    Variant 3
... FROM tabref1 LEFT [OUTER] JOIN tabref2 ON cond
    Effect
Selects the data from the transparent database tables and/or views specified in tabref1 and tabref2. tabref1 und tabref2 both have either the same form as in variant 1 or are themselves join expressions. The keyword OUTER can be omitted. The database tables or views specified in tabref1 and tabref2 must be recognized by the ABAP-Dictionary.
In order to determine the result of a SELECT command where the FROM clause contains a left outer join, the database system creates a temporary table containing the lines that meet the ON condition. The remaining fields from the left-hand table (tabref1) are then added to this table, and their corresponding fields from the right-hand table are filled with ZERO values. The system then applies the WHERE condition to the table.

    WRITE: / CUSTOMER-NAME, CUSTOMER-POSTCODE, CUSTOMER-CITY,

    BOOKING-BOOKID.
    ENDSELECT.
If there are columns with the same name in both tables, you must distinguish between them by prefixing the field descriptor with the table name or using an alias.
    Note
For the resulting set of a SELECT command with a left outer join in the FROM clause, it is generally of crucial importance whether a logical condition is in the ON or WHERE condition. Since not all of the database systems supported by SAP themselves support the standard syntax and semantics of the left outer join, the syntax has been restricted to those cases that return the same solution in all database systems:
Only a table or view may come after the JOIN operator, not another join statement.
The only logical operator allowed in the ON condition is AND.
Each comparison in the ON condition must contain a field from the right-hand table.
Comparisons in the WHERE condition must not contain a field from the right-hand table.
The ON condition must contain at least one "real" JOIN condition (a condition in which a field from tabref1 as well as from tabref2 occurs).
    Note
In some cases, '*' may be specivied as the field list in the SELECT clause, and an internal table or work area is entered in the INTO clause (instead of a list of fields). If so, the fields are written to the target area from left to right in the order in which the tables appear in the llen in der FROM clause, according to the structure of each table work area. There can be gaps between the table work areas if you use an Alignment Request. For this reason, you should define the target work area with reference to the types of the database tables, as in the following example (not simply by counting the total number of fields).
    Example
Example of a JOIN with more than two tables: Select all flights from Frankfurt to New York between September 10th and 20th, 2001 where there are available places, and display the name of the airline.
    DATA: BEGIN OF WA,
    FLIGHT TYPE SFLIGHT,
    PFLI TYPE SPFLI,
    CARR TYPE SCARR,
    END OF WA.
    SELECT * INTO WA
FROM ( SFLIGHT AS F INNER JOIN SPFLI AS P
    ON FCARRID = PCARRID AND
    FCONNID = PCONNID )
    INNER JOIN SCARR AS C
    ON FCARRID = CCARRID
    WHERE P~CITYFROM = 'FRANKFURT'
    AND P~CITYTO = 'NEW YORK'
    AND F~FLDATE BETWEEN '20010910' AND '20010920'
    AND FSEATSOCC < FSEATSMAX.
    WRITE: / WA-CARR-CARRNAME, WA-FLIGHT-FLDATE, WA-FLIGHT-CARRID,
    WA-FLIGHT-CONNID.
    ENDSELECT.
    And for all entries,
    this will help u.
    use of FOR ALL ENTRIES:
    1. INNER JOIN
    DBTAB1 <----
    > DBTAB2
It is used to JOIN two DATABASE tables
    having some COMMON fields.
    2. Whereas
    For All Entries,
    DBTAB1 <----
    > ITAB1
is not at all related to two DATABASE tables.
It is related to INTERNAL table.
    3. If we want to fetch data
    from some DBTABLE1
    but we want to fetch
    for only some records
which are contained in some internal table,
then we use for alll entries.
    1. simple example of for all entries.
    2. NOTE THAT
    In for all entries,
it is NOT necessary to use TWO DBTABLES.
    (as against JOIN)
    3. use this program (just copy paste)
    it will fetch data
    from T001
FOR ONLY TWO COMPANIES (as mentioned in itab)
    4
    REPORT abc.
DATA : BEGIN OF itab OCCURS 0,
    bukrs LIKE t001-bukrs,
    END OF itab.
DATA : t001 LIKE TABLE OF t001 WITH HEADER LINE.
    itab-bukrs = '1000'.
    APPEND itab.
    itab-bukrs = '1100'.
    APPEND itab.
    SELECT * FROM t001
    INTO TABLE t001
    FOR ALL ENTRIES IN itab
    WHERE bukrs = itab-bukrs.
    LOOP AT t001.
    WRITE :/ t001-bukrs.

  • Diff Between Interfaces and API

    Hi to all.
Can anybody tell me , What is the basic diff between API and Interfaces ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Lalit,
Both place validation will happen. In Interface table as well as in API.
The difference you can say..for interface you have to load the data in and invoke the import program by which it will populate data in oracle apps base table. So you have to write some DML.
While in API you can simply use PLSQL record type and using that invoke API by which it will populate record in oracle apps base table.
Keep in mind both ways the validation happens. It is just the approach and some part is just for legacy data conversion.

  • The diff between the two 8 core 3Ghz mac pros?

I am in the market for a mac pro. I will spend the money for an 8 core 3ghz cpu. I am a “do it your self” kind of guy. I am not afraid to do some installations myself (drives, Ram, GFX card, optic drive,)
I mainly use CS3, cinema 3D and FCP, On XP, Nuke and Studio Max. Dual displays, One 24” LCD and One CRT.
I have a few basic questions that maybe someone can point me to a link or better explain.
What is the diff between the two mac pros listed below. All I can come up with is the graphics cards and the ram? Is this right?
My plan is to upgrade the ram with the newer 800MHz DDR-2 ram, and graphics card. The stock 7300GT can get me by for now, than something else when the time is right (8800GT, I have not done my homework here, not a priority yet). I do zero gaming and don’t even care to spend money to play games. My priority is not in gaming and I feel a majority of folks are spending the money on the card to play games, so I am trying to find the pros for upgrading in my situation. Better open gl capturing, better graphics acceleration in CS3 better for 3d apps, most likely, but I can survive with the 7300GT for now right? I am fine with that now, but an upgrade in a year or so in the graphics card department is the plan. My priority for the money is order: ram, cpu, drives, Gfx card.
So, recap, what disadvantage would I put myself in for going with the 1st model of mac pro listed below or spend the extra 600 for the second model of macpro? Again, ram will 100% for sure be upgraded as will the hard drives.
    Advice please.
Here is a link to the two units I am looking at. It is a 600$ difference.

    Thanks Twist,
That is very useful info off the top of your head there. I will hopefully find the time this weekend to read through all the info and translate everything suggested from the other reply @ macworld.
If anyone else has any useful info that is clear like twist please give me your suggestions, for now I will read a bit more as suggested.
    Thank you.

  • Importing speed...only about 1.5? this is taking forever!

hey guys, I was just curious if there was any rhyme or reason to this. All my cds are literally taking an hour to import at this time. It's almost every cd too. Any way to remedy the situation? Thanks.

Sounds like you may have a faulty drive.
My iBook was taking a long time to import, sometimes freezing mid-way. Took it to the Apple Store. They determined the drive needed to be replaced. They mentioned when import speeds are very slow regardless of the CD used, usually this indicates a faulty drive.
Is your machine under warranty? Cost to replace a combo drive is about $250.

  • Shifting media files between external hard drives

    Hi
I need to shift all my TV and Movie files from one external hard drive to a new bigger hard drive. I tied just copying them, but iTunes couldnt find any of the files when I went to play them. I have found a few threads dealing with cpoying to an external hard drive but none that actually explain how to shift between external hard drives.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Pete

Don't import anything and don't move it yourself. This will simply allow iTunes to lose it all.

iTunes prefs Advanced. Set the iTunes media folder location to the new drive.
iTunes menu File > Library > Organize library - Consolidate.
This will copy all iTunes media to the new location you set in step 1 and use this location from now on.

  • Diff between R/3 ECC5 and ECC6

    Dear All,
Can someone please enlighten me about the diff between R/3 ECC5 and ECC6?
    Thanks,
    Ashish

May be there are lot of differences but broadly:
the Inclusion of Netweaver Components happened from 4.t to ECC5.0 and ECC 6.0
In ECC 5.0 the component versions of netweaver are of different versions but in ECC6.0 all componet versions of netweaver are same and latest.
Unicode is another important thing for ECC6.0 and 5.0
AP ECC 5.0 is part of SAP ERP 2004---- which runs on SAP NetWeaver 2004
SAP ECC 6.0 is part of SAP ERP 2005 (mySAP 2005)--- runs on SAP NetWeaver 2004S
Main difference is application components and availability of new features.
for new features/changes in core modules like FI, MM etc.. e.g GL function is new in ECC 6.0..
