    Can someone help. I use Photoshop Elements 13. I can no longer save edited photos. get messages - "Nothing was imported" "The file or folders selected to import did not contain supported file type. It started this a couple of weeks ago and I had a friend come fix it just 2 days ago. It took him several hours and I lost all tags I had on over 10,000 pictures. Now it has done it again. I'm so upset. I lost a lot of stuff. I don't want to keep bothering him with this. Please Help.

    How did you import the files to your computer?
    What model  number camera?

  • Importing images - best res and file type?

    What is the best file type and resolution for creating crisp
    graphics in Flash, when importing from Photoshop?
    Thanks,
    Amanda

    Amanda,
    It all depends on the size of your stage and what you plan
    on doing with the graphics. If you will not be zooming in on your
    image save it at 300dpi. If you plan on making the image larger
    than its original size I would say make it 600dpi, then you can at
    least scale it up twice as large without it getting pixelated.
    Scaling down is not a problem, it's scaling up that can get you in
    trouble. If your image has transparency then save it as a PNG file.
    That way you'll be able to use all of your transparent areas
    effectively. I usually just save my files as PNG anyway then if I
    decide to go in an mess with them later on I won't have to convert
    to a different format.
    hope that helps.

  • Not sure about derviatives, file types, and export for lightroom

    hello:
    I am a new LR user and new to the DAM process. I am confused about something that is probably basic and fundamental to this process. My computer setup is two internal drives (working drive and a photo archive), as well as external backup and burning to dvd. Using LR for both image adjustment and catalog management (not using Photoshop).  For raw I will be converting to dng on ingestion. I will add bulk metadata on ingestion and then bring images into LR to rate images and make basic image adjustments. These images will then be archived as originals.
    Now, if I perform additional work on any of these archived images (addl. image adjustment or metadata) would these images be considered derviatives?  If so, would I then go to export in LR to add to file name (e.g., masterfile, master.dng or .tif) before sending to, for instance, a working derviative folder before sending off to the archive?
    Also, if I am sending these images to archive, but not sending out for email or web, do I need to change the dng to another file type (e.g., tif)?
    Lastly, I have some old jpegs on media cards that I want to put through this process. Is there anything special that I need to do in handling these images versus dealing with raw?
    I have read the DAM book as well as reading through various online resources, but this whole process is quite confusing for a beginner.
    Please respond anytime.
    Thanks
    joe.

    Lightroom is a non-destructive editor. This may be different than anything you have used in the past.
    With non-destructive editors, there is no concept of original and derivative (unless you choose to use a 2nd program like Photoshop, sounds like you're not planning to do that). With a non-destructive editor, you make your changes in the editor (Develop Module), and these instructions are stored by Lightroom as a "recipe" and not as a distinct file on your hard disk. These instructions about your edits are applied whenever you use Lightroom to view your image (or whenever you choose to print from Lightroom or make a slidesehow from LR or make a web page from LR). The original is completely unchanged, and there is no edited derivative photo exported or saved. Thus, there is no need to segregate original and edited photo, because there is no saved edited photo. Additional edits in Lightroom are handled the same, original is unchanged, your edits are stored, and there is no derivative or saved photo.
    The only time you would save a copy of the photo is if you wanted a copy for some non-Lightroom purpose, in which case you use File->Export... to make a file on disk in a "temporary" folder, then you use the file created in whatever non-Lightroom purpose you have, and when completed, you can delete the file in the temporary folder, knowing that LR can re-create it exactly if you ever need it again. If you are going to print from LR, or e-mail from LR, or create a web page from LR, or create a slideshow from LR, you do not need to create an exported photo.
    JPGs and RAWs and DNGs are all handled the same by you, the user. Yes, there is internal differences that aren't important to your workflow.

  • What file type to export vid from final cut to studio pro

    Beginner here, the question I have is what is the best file format to export from final cut to studio pro so that I will play in a decent to good quality on a DVD that I make in studio pro. Thanks.

    For my FCS projects, I export DV_NTSC "anamorphic" (I use 16:9 format) to a "reference" movie: that is quite fast after all rendering is completed and the resulting file is pretty small. The only disadvantage to "reference" I've found is that you must keep all those FCS file around since those are what is referenced by the export.
    I export like that instead of exporting to compressor because for me, exporting directly to compressor is very slow; on my G5 Quad, my compression step is about 1:1 with real time.
    You can take those .mov files into DVDSP and let it do the compression using your defaults. I prefer to use Compressor directly so I can set the compression, Dolby, etc. parameters. Compress to mpeg2 and AC3 (Dolby Digital) and if you are just in stereo, just keep it in stereo, check the "no surround encoding" and make sure the highest audio level in either channel is -3db (or the compressor setting let you reduce the level by 3db). That prevents a downmix to mono (like on a cheap TV) from clipping (-3db + -3db = 0db. (zero plus zero = +3db and is clipping).

  • Best video file type to export for iPod?

    Am using Premiere to edit movies, and was wondering what is best file format to export for eventual iPod conversion to get the best quality?

    I am not familiar with Premiere, but below are the limits which are supported:
    H.264 video up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats;
    MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
    H.264 will give the best quality and smallest file sizes, but the price of this is time, H.264 conversion is time consuming as it is very processor intense.

  • Botched file type/application associations...

    I'm not a Mac guy. I've been extremely lucky when helping my client that I have been able to solve their connectivity/networking problems even though I'm not at all proficient with a Macintosh computer, a testament to how intuitive the Mac really is. The extent of my knowledge with a Mac comes from messing around with this computer. My client thought that all was lost when the screen blew in her iMac (CRT), which is used to work from home. I was impressed that Apple had made a way to transfer files, settings and applications by simply connecting a firewire cable and holding a key while powering on!
    After the transfer...guess which application is botched? Microsoft Office. Today I found that Office was nagging my client to purchase the full version. The new Mac Mini had apparently bundled a "Test Drive" trial version of Office 2004 (v11). When I browse in the Applications folder, I see more than one Office 2004 "Test Drive" folder (one was probably copied from the old computer). When running the uninstall utility from each, it tells me that it can't be removed because it's not installed! I found an Office X (v10) application folder on the desktop that had been copied from the old computer. I moved it to the Applications folder and did everything I could to associate DOC, XLS, and PPT files with the correct version of Office. Every time, the files keep trying to launch with the expired Office 2004 instead of the full-version Office X. If I Ctrl+Click, Open With>Office X 10.1, it will open correctly. I even use File>Get Info and associate/Assign-to-All and it keeps reverting to Office 2004! I moved the two Office 2004 application folders to the trash. Even after restarting, the Open With option still shows Office 2004 as the default application. As long as the system thinks that there is a newer version of Office installed, it simply will not allow me to force permanent association with an older version. Is there any way to remove these traces and make it as if Office 2004 had never been installed?
    Please help!
    [edit]
    I probably also should have mentioned that the Open With menu has more than one version of Office X listed, both of which seem to work fine.
    For instance, when I click on a word document:
    Microsoft Word 2004 v11 (default)
    Microsoft Word v10.1.0
    Microsoft Word v10.0.0
    Mac Mini

    Ichinisan
    Sorry not to get back to you earlier.
    Because the files generate an error when it tries to open with Office 2004 v11,What error are you getting? Is it by chance "-10660"?
    Panther is brand new, no? Would these procedures really differ in an incremental 10.3-10.4 OS upgrade?Hardly. Panther is at least 2 years old, and 10.3 to 10.4 is not an incremental upgrade either. 10.4 (Tiger) came out at the end of April 2005 IIRC.
    Unfortunately the place where these associations are stored has changed in every new version of OS X, from 10.1 through 10.2, 10.3 to 10.4. But I suppose I could give you instructions for both 10.3 and 10.4, but lets see your answer to my question about the error message first.

  • File type after exporting film to itunes (windows pc)

    Hi, after export a film to itunes (Windows PC) i can not open this file with the suffix .iMovieMobile. What is this for a type? How can i open it? I want to bun it on video dvd. Could i convert it? kind regards, lotropp

    You are incorrectly exporting it.
    You have exported the project; there is an export project option and this is what you have done.
    You need to export to camera roll, then import as you would photos from the camera app.

  • Can FCE HD 3.5 Import HD-AVI with MJPEG file and then export?

    I am having some old 8mm film converted to HD-AVI: MJPEG in the wrapper. Will I be able to import this entire file (about 20 minutes of 1080 video) into FCE HD 3.5, make simple edits (mostly dissolves), add some background music and then export the file to a standard DVD at 640x480 and also to Blu-Ray (using Toast 9's ability to write BD files to regular or dual layer DVD disks with no loss of resolution?
    Is Motion JPEG within the HD-AVI wrapper part of HDV codec? I am clueless about the zillions of formats I see all over (but FCE HD 3.5 mentions only DV and HDV and Apple Intermediare codec 1080i60 or 720p60.
    MartyP

    Hi Tom,
    Does that mean I cannot import the HD-AVI wrapper and Motion JPEG file directly into FCE HD 3.5?
    The file is on a hard drive - not captured thru a FireWire Port.

  • File type for export as quicktime movie

    I thought I read here that "Export as Quicktime Movie" produces a .mov file (although without the extension). I'm using Brightcove to host our videos, and their publishpod says it accepts .mov files, but doesn't seem to work with the file from FCE. Is it really a .mov? Or do I need to export using Quicktime Conversion (and burn up lots more time in the process?)

    Thanks...
    I did search the forum and nothing addressed my specific issue. Sorry if I didn't phrase my question clearly.
    Anyway, I suspect the problem is that the Brightcove software does not work well with the Apple Intermediate Codec. I had no problem with a .mov exported with H.264 compression. This adds extra time to my workflow, but I suspect it will be a necessary evil.

  • How to change file type when exporting a report with a background job

    Hi,

  • 4.1EA2: no formatting of pl/sql file type

    I have a ".pck" file type declared as File Type PL/SQL in Tools > Preferences > File Types.
    In 4.1EA2, when I open a ".pck" file, it no longer has any coloured formatting, just black and white text.
    ".pks" or ".pkb" files aer formatted fine.

    There was a trivial case sensitivity bug that prevented parser from recognizing pl/sql source. For example,
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE TEST_PACK as
    procedure test (
       p_arg1 in varchar2 default 'AbcD',
       p_arg2 in number   default null);
    end;
    would be recognized (no matter what extension file had), while
    CREATE OR REPLACE package ...
    ---------------------------------^^^^^^^^
    won't be. This is fixed, of course, for RC1.

  • Error During INSTALL of Application Export File

    An error is reported during INSTALL of an application that I am trying to copy (Import/Install) from a "development" Work Space into a "production" Work Space. The production (target) Work Space is on the same HTML DB instance as the development Work Space.
    I am receiving the following INSTALL error:
    ORA-20001: GET_BLOCK Error. ORA-20001: GET_STMT error. ORA-20001: Execution of the statement was unsuccessful. ORA-06550: line 15, column 1: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol ",'39','RD8','8','S','10','U','43','UD','41','UG','11','W')) END)" when expecting one of the following: . ( * @ % & = - + ; < / > at in is mod remainder not rem <an exponent (**)> <> or != or ~= >= <=
    Following is some pertinent (hopefully) information:
    The above INSTALL error takes exception to part of a Region Select (sql) that works fine in the development Work Space.
    The common HTML DB (v1.6) instance is on UNIX.
    A new Work Space was created on the same instance.
    A new schema name was created during creation of the new Work Space. However, this schema does not point to a database. (We were not certain how to setup the schema to parse to our live database.) I will be running DBLINK upon production application startup in order to access the database objects.
    EXPORT INFO -
    File Format: UNIX (also, tried DOS but received same error during INSTALL)
    IMPORT INFO -
    File Type: Application/Page Export
    File Character Set: Western European Windows 1252
    Target Work Space is newly created on the same HTML DB instance.
    INSTALL INFO -
    *Parse As Schema: COLLIVE17 (Again, this schema does not parse to a database. I intend to use DBLINK.)
    *Build Status: Run and Build Application
    Please refer to above error message.
    Again, any insights or suggestions are appreciated.

    Urgently need help! I've read several other Forum messages having a related problem but none having same Install error message.
    Again, my Export/Import from development Workspace to production Workspace is successful. The following error is reported when I attempt to "Install" into the production Workspace:
    ORA-20001: GET_BLOCK Error. ORA-20001: GET_STMT error. ORA-20001: Execution of the statement was unsuccessful. ORA-06550: line 15, column 1: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol ",'39','RD8','8','S','10','U','43','UD','41','UG','11','W')) END)" when expecting one of the following: . ( * @ % & = - + ; < / > at in is mod remainder not rem <an exponent (**)> <> or != or ~= >= <=
    The "snippet" of Region Sql Select code that relates to the reported error is:
    ELSE htmldb_item.display_and_save (5, DECODE (GET_GRADE_B93 (sac.stc_final_grade,sac.stc_verified_grade),'18','AU','1','A','3','B','4','C','7','CR','5','D','46','DR','6','F','47','FW','49','IB','30','IC','31','ID','23','IF','44','MW','9','NC','21','RD','14','RD0','33','RD1','32','RD2','34','RD3','35','RD4','36','RD5','37','RD6','38','RD7','39','RD8','8','S','10','U','43','UD','41','UG','11','W'),'GRADE_'||ROWNUM) END q_v_grade,
    HTML DB version is: 1.6.0.00.67. I've also tried to Export/Import/Install the application into the "same" Workspace specifying the same schema, and only changing the Application ID. However, I get the same Install error (see above).
    Any suggestions on things to try in order to get application into production is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, Bernard.

  • Adding images to rows in a table depending on file type

    Hello,
    Within Visual Composer we have a table which lists documents and contains information about the document type
    i.e. description = 'This is a Word Document', file type = 'application/msword'
    then I have uploaded the images (icons) for the different file types, created a 'Document Type' column (of type image) in the table and assigned the correct boolean statements to determine which icons are shown
    e.g. BOOL(IF(@MIMETYPE == 'application/msword', true, false))
    This is the exact steps explained in the how to: How To… Integrate BI Document Store and SAP Analytics Applications
    But just does not work? It will not display the icons even though the file type (MIMETYPE) is displayed and is correct.
    Any help much appreciated!

    Seem to have fixed the problem.
    By adding a filter before the table view it seems to allow a slight delay which allows the file types to load and the IF statements run correctly and display the correct images for the various file types.
    Still seems that there is a slight Visual Composer Issue there? (but now with a work-around)
