Import .ste files from DW CS 4 to DW CC?

When I try import .ste files from DW CS 4 to DW CC I get an error that says "this is not a valid site definition file. Cannot import."

I’m switching from a macPro running OSX 10.8 to a new macBoookPro running Mavericks. I have about 60 sites. Doing this manually will be a real test of my tolerance for tediousness.
Is it really my only choice?
Thank you,

when importing a file from a folder it appears in the organizer as a exclamation mark but no photo. can anyone help i use elements 9

    Hi there,
Digging up an old thread slightly, but is this still definitely the case? Last week double-clicking a folder definitely just opened up a folder for me to explore its contents, but now I'm constantly accidentally importing huge folders into things like After Effects and Mail... it's very annoying!
If there's a fix I'd love to hear it!

  • I am trying to import CR2 files from my canon 450D.  Lightroom 5 won't let me. Help please!!

I am trying to import CR2 files from my canon 450D into Lightroom 5.  Lightroom says 'preview unavailable for this file'.  I cannot get past this.  I have tried importing directly from the camera, and also from an external hard drive that I managed to download the photos onto.  I am new to Lightroom so any simple suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!  Also I am working on a Mac.  Thanks!

I have a 450D and the files open just fine in LR5.
Is this your first attempt at using LR or your first attempt at developing CR2 files?
It sounds like your raw files may be corrupted or there is some permission problem that is preventing LR from reading the files.
Can you upload one of these unrecognized files to http://www.dropbox.com/ and post a public download link to it, for others to test?
Also try copying just one CR2 file to your internal drive and see if that imports, in case there is some problem with the permissions on the external drive.  Just use Finder to copy the file, not LR, in case that is an issue.

You could use Icloud to do it.

Thats the way I do it, so I cant walk you through the steps the other way off hand. Someone else might.

  • How do I import music files from a flash drive to my iTunes library on my laptop

How can I import music files from a flash drive to my iTunes library? I put the flash drive into my laptop, selected " add file to library", selected the songs I wanted from the flash drive, and it looked like they were added as the names show under " recently added". Then I removed the flash drive from my laptop But when I select one of the songs and try to play it a message saying "the song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"  So it seems the actual files did not transfer. What do I do? I have done this. With a cd in the past with nsomproble,.

Thank you!! This worked. It does seem there should be an easier way but this did work.
Dragging the files to "Automatically Add..." is pretty easy once you know where to look.  Just make sure iTunes is running when you do it; otherwise the files will just sit there until the next time you open iTunes.
(Interestingly, the way you originally tried to do would have worked fine except for one little detail:  you have to first go into Edit > Preferences > Advanced, and check the box for "Copy files..."  If that is not done, iTunes will reference the files on the flash drive, which of course are not accessible once the drive is removed, as you saw.)
Anyway, glad that all is now sorted.  Enjoy the music!

  • How can I import Quicken Files from a G4 to a new iMac.

I need to transfer my Quicken 2007 files from my G4 to my new iMac. My G4 is running OS 10.4 and Quicken Essentials for Mac requires 10.5 or above. My G4 cannot run 10.5. My iMac is running Lion and I've heard if I load Mac Essentials on my iMac, I won't be able to import the files from my G4. Anybody have any ideas?
I've been considering making a copy of my system and applications folders on an external firewire drive, then connecting it to my iMac. I thne plan to use the external drive as a startup disk and load Quicken essentials on the external drive. Then, once eveything is loaded, I was hoping I could copy the files and pull them over to my applications folder on my iMac. Does anybody know if that will work?

I'm in the same boat!!! Been a long Time Quicken user and they finally made the software almost un-useable. I have 2 intel laptops in the house and a G4. The intel systems are both running Lion had I known the quicken conversion software dosen't run on Lion I would have converted all my quicken backups (going back to 1997) before installing Lion.
To answer your question, what I have found out is convert all your files on Lepoard then update to lion. The conversion software that comes with Quicken Essentials will work on Lepoard. Thats how I converted mine. But last week I needed to go back to and old backup looking for some transactions and found the Lion issue. Had to boot up the G4 and load the old Quicken software to look at the backups.
Been really thinking of switching to another product.

  • Why can't I import video files from an external hard drive?

I am using Adobe Premiere Elements 12 on Mac OSX 10.7.5 trying to import video files from a Lacie Rugged External Hard Drive using both firewire and usb, neither with any luck. The error message I receive is:
"You're trying to import a file from a DVD or a Removable Media.  Please use Video Importer for importing Videos and Image Importer for importing images. "
We can't import through the video importer either because the hard drive doesn't show up. We can, however, drag the videos to the desktop and do it that way but we'd like to avoid doing that if possible.

  • I can no longer import raw files from my Panasonic Lumix LX5 into Aperture 3.3.2 - raw files from my other Canon cameras are fine. Am still running Lion - NOT Mountain Lion. Tried all available software updates - no joy. Any ideas please?

I can no longer import raw files from my Panasonic Lumix LX5 into Aperture 3.3.2 - raw files from my other Canon cameras are fine. Am still running Lion (10.7.4) - NOT Mountain Lion. Tried all available software updates - all up to date apparently but still no joy. OS X Lion shows the LX5 as a supported file format. I dont want to have to upgrade to Mountain Lion just to see if this solves the problem. Any ideas please.

Since when did this happen? Directly after you upgraded to Aperture 3.3.2?
If it happened directly after the upgrade the problem may be, that the raw support for your camera got lost. For some posters it helped to register the raw support again, see this post by Alan Roseman:
Aperture 3 preview of raw file greenish
If this does not help, you may need to reinstall Lion to bring back the raw support.
But if the problem occured independent of a new installation, ypu may have a problem with your camera or the card you are using. Have you tried to use a different card or to reformat the card in the camera?

Make sure you have the Quicktime Player 7 installed.  It was an option when installing Lion.  Or you can get it here: QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 or later.  Install it, reboot and try again.

  • Importing .mxf Files from an external hard drive...

Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. My problem comes close to others discussed, but I haven't been able to find a duplicate post. And I apologize for the length; I just want to give you as much info. as possible (I also put details in my signature) to help you help me.
I shot a short film using Panasonic's HVX200 camera, filming in HD 720p/24p, and downloaded each P2 card through a PC laptop into a LaCie Brick external hard drive. I was originally planning on editing the footage with Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, but became frustrated with how much trouble it was having handling the .mxf files. Assured by Apple salespeople that FCP 5 would have no problem importing the footage from an external hard drive, I purchased the computer described in my signature.
Now I know that FCP/Apple only supports importing footage from the P2 card directly, and not from an external hard drive. A representative from ProMax.com was able to help me out, however. First, he had me copy the footage files onto my Mac internal drive from the external hard drive. Then, he had me select IMPORT -> PANASONIC P2. Then, I was to highlight the CONTENTS folder and import away. And it worked... sort of.
There are two major problems: 1) During this transfer, not all of the footage is making it across. I import it, and then get the much-talked about "one or more P2 clips failed to import; probable incomplete or corrupt clips" warning. After checking the original video folder on the internal hard drive and comparing it to the number of clips FCP imported, I learned that I had lost around 20 clips/video files at one point. Other shooting day transfers worked completely smoothly with all of the files imported (we split up the footage by shooting day, without touching or changing the CONTENTS folders). So, some transfers work and some don't. And 2) When I try to import the files from our 4th day of shooting, I get a "Selected path does not contain a P2 volume." Nothing is imported.
So, that's my situation, and I'm getting very desperate. I know that I'm not doing things in the Apple-supported way, but I'm really hoping there's still someway to successfully get the files from the external hard drive into FCP completely. It seems to work some of the time.
Final notes: When importing, I make sure to import the entire CONTENTS folder. There is never a LASTCLIP.TXT file listed under it in the window, but some of the days of footage have transferred perfectly, so I'm hoping that's not a dealbreaker. If it is, isn't there some way to rebuild a lastclip.txt file? I don't even know if that's the issue. And one last note: In most of my folders, the "CLIP" folder has a number of files in it. In the 4th day's footage that I can't import at all, I noticed that the CLIP folder is empty. And on the days where FCP isn't importing all the files (like I mentioned above), there isn't a CLIP file for every single VIDEO file. Could this be the main problem? Along this line, is there a way to somehow put the footage on the external hard drive back through a p2 card and then into the Mac?
Okay, I'll stop typing. Thank you so, so much for any help.

PowerMac G5 (Dual 2.3 GHz)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Quicktime 7.1.1 - Final Cut Pro 5.1 - Aforementioned External Hard Drive: LaCie Brick (FAT 32 based)
    PowerMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

The problem didn't turn out to be as complicated as I had thought. The process I described above ended up working fine, and I'll explain how. And this is a cool workaround, because the AppleCare helpers told me that they didn't think it would work (FCP P2 import is only supported straight from the P2 card/viewer or the camera).
I hooked up my external hard drive to the Power Mac G5, and copied the files and folders onto my internal scratch disk. Then, I opened FCP and chose IMPORT -> Panasonic P2. I chose the "CONTENTS" folder for each day's filming, and imported them in, no problems. There was no visible "lastclip.txt" file shown (under the "CONTENTS" folder or anywhere else), but this didn't seem to cause any problems.
The reason that not all of the footage was bring imported (the aforementioned "one or more P2 clips failed..." warning) was because we were missing clip files (in the CLIP folder) corresponding to certain video files (in the VIDEO folder). Luckily, we had just forgotten to transfer all of them from the original external hard drive, and once we transfered them completely, FCP could read all the video files. FCP needs a clip file for every video file in order to make it work (that's why our aforementioned "Day 4" could not be read; we hadn't copied all of the clip files over with the video files).
Even after we did this, we STILL were getting the "one or more P2 clips..." warning for our Day 5. After taking a look at all the folders, we figured out that there were still more files in the VIDEO folder than in the CLIP folder, even after we transferred them all over. Finally, we figured out what had happened. For some reason, some of the audio files for some of the clips had been included in the VIDEO folder for our Day 5. There is no way we did this accidentally; somehow, the HVX200 placed some of the audio files into both the VIDEO and AUDIO folders. And FCP was trying to read those as video files, and therefore couldn't find the corresponding clips in the CLIP folder. After making sure that those audio files were also in the AUDIO folder, we simply deleted them from the VIDEO folder and stopped getting the "failed to import" warning.
Final thing to share: If we had actually been unable to find the corresponding clip files in our original external hard drive, we had also found a potential solution (that we didn't end up needing to try). You can record from FCP back onto the P2 card, in the hopes that the clip files would be regenerated when you re-import it into FCP. I received a PDF file about this process, and I'm not sure how to put it up on the page here. If interested in this described process (which, again, I can't fully vouch for), feel free to email me at [email protected] and I can forward it to you.
    Hope this helps.

    Premiere Elements 12 Mac
A few more questions for now.
Taking your particular .avi files out of the equation, can you import any other format from Add Media/Files and Folders pointed to this external hard drive? What is the format of the external hard drive? NTFS or FAT32?
It is my recollection that AVCHD.avi has always been reported as highly problematic. Yet you seem to be saying that you have no problem importing them in to the project from the desktop with the program's Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets to Expert workspace Timeline.
Did you purchase your Premiere Elements 12 from the Mac App Store or from Adobe? If Mac Store, what do you have Adobe Premiere Elements Editor or Adobe Premiere Elements Quick Editor or some variation thereof?

  • Media Encoder won't import MXF files from Canon XF100

I'm running Media Encoder CC on two laptops: a macbook pro and a macbook air. Both systems are running the most recent version of Media Encoder CC (including updates) but only one will import MXF files from a Canon XF100? The macbook air imports and encodes the files without issue, however the macbook pro won't import the same MXF files and kicks the following error:
The file /Users/.../.../.../AA0106.MXF could not be imported. Could not read from source. Please check the settings and try again.
I could understand if both computers errored but using the same file, one will import and the other will not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just try this and see if it will work for you.
Open iPhoto > Preferences > General and deselect 'Connecting camera opens: iPhoto'.
Change it to 'No Application' and close iPhoto.
Now connect your camera to your computer and turn it on or better still use a card reader.
If iMovie tries to open, close it.
Your camera/card should now appear as an external drive.
Copy/paste your video files into a new folder on your desktop.
    Eject and disconnect your camera/card.
Now open iMovie and go File > Import > Movies... and navigate to that folder.

  • Huge HD file sizes in iMovie when importing AVCHD files from HD Camcorder

Although several answers have been given on different ways to import HD files from a AVCHD camcorder, in this case a Sony one, the issue is what to do with the HUGE files it creates. I recorded 2 hours of HD content in about 30GB on the camcorder. I can burn those native HVCHD files on DVD's, took 6 of them, and play them on a Blue Ray player in HD. To edit, I tested a sample 50MB file that was about 3 minutes in length. It convered to quicktime file in the same 1920x1080 quality resulted in a file that was about 800MB, looked great, but how do I store or play a 20 minute version of it? iMovie is inadequate to do anything other than produce smaller size files for an iPod or lower quality, unless it is going to be a very short HD movie if doing true HD quality. One of the reasons I took the MAC plunge was the better multimedia capabilities. In this case, Apple (iMove and Final Cut) is behind.
I ended up shifting my HD editing back to a PC with $100 Sony Vegas software that can edit the AVCHD files and author in it. I can produce a DVD with about 25 minutes of edited HD in AVCDH file format and play it. I can also store the finished product in a much smaller space using AVCHD files. I have a 1 TB drive on my Mac that would be consumed if I worked in iMovie with converting all these AVCDH files and kept them in HD quality since it looks like it needs to expand them 12-16 times the AVCHD file size.
Yes, I know I could lower the quality to better work with them in iMovie, but that makes no sense to me. I want to record and edit in the HD format. Seems like these AVCHD cameras are becoming a standard since they are so efficient at storing HD content, iMovie needs to figure out how to edit and store them the same way. Very disappointed in how iMovie handles HD, to me it is NOT very good at handling HD, no good way to store or distribute it.
Am I missing soomething here? I have spent hours looking for a different answer, but have not found one yet? Maybe the next version of iMovie will be better. I like using it for SD DVD authoring, but for HD, did not work at all for me.
    Jon

Interesting you say it is not meant for editing, but there are about a half dozen editor's for windows that will work on these exact files. I know with Sony Vegas that I have the same level of control with frame precision as I do with iMovie so I think there must be more to the story why Apple has not been able to support it like other software manufacturers who support windows. Don't get me wrong, i would love to do the work in iMovie and not have to learn something new. I don't have the storage space to use the HD apple format, that 2 hr of HD in AVCHD would turn into about 500GB then what do I put it on to play it. If the BlueRay standard calls for 25 or 50G disc's and we can get full two hour movies on them today, then they must be using a file format similar to AVCHD to fit on a disc, they cannot be using anything close to what Apple uses for HD files, it is just simple logic and math. So why doesn't Apple finure it out before everyone who starts working in HD comes to the same conclusion that the Apple QT file formats for HD is going to be an issue with space, you can create content, but cannot afford the disc space to store it or play it.

  • Hi, I have problem with importing MOV files from SJCAM 4000. MOV files are in supported formats for Adobe Premiere Elements 11. But if I'm importing MOV file, only audio part is imported, video part is not imported. How can I solve this problem?

Hi, I have problem with importing MOV files from SJCAM 4000. MOV files are in supported formats for Adobe Premiere Elements 11. But if I'm importing MOV file, only audio part is imported, video part is not imported. How can I solve this problem?

    haben
From looking at the specifications of your camera (SJCam 4000), we know already what video compression your camera is using. It is H.264.
A H.264.mov file should be supported by Premiere Elements 11. On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer? And, are you running QuickTime and Premiere Elements 11 from a
User Account with administrative privileges? Please go to Premiere Elements 11 Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime to confirm that you find
presets there for the QuickTime choice there.
What are the properties of these H.264.mov files - is it 1080p30 (1920 x 1080p30)  or something else? Do you know if this camera is recording with a variable or
    a constant frame rate?
Please review and consider and then we will decide what next.
    Thank you.
