Import Thunderbird Mails to Apple Mail

Sorry for putting this topic once again to the list - but all the Discusssions I found in the www didn´t help at all. My problem ist: I cant import all emails from Thunderbird to Mac Mail - and I tired both ways: export mbox files and then import them - and as well directly import thunderbird profiles by Mail. In the end, there where many Emails missing. In one Folder, there have been 2500 Mails - 480 of them made it.... :-(
Most of the discussions that I found let to an app called Eudora Mailbox CLeaner. Matter of fact: no Link was working, because it led to "Mobile Me" Accounts, that aint exisitng anymore or have been changed to "iCloud". Searching the www. brought me the information, that this Software wount be working on Macs with Lion OS.
So, to make a long sentence short: does anyboy have a working solution for Importing all Mails from Thunderbird to Mail?
It´ll be great!!!!

Hi Shootist,
you may ask - but the answer is allready given in my first post:
1st: I used TB for years now, on WIN, UBUNTU and the last 3 or 4 Years on MAC as well.
And as I wrote on my second post in here:
2nd: because TB has many features NOT that would be essential for working with MAC, iPhone, iPad etc. like it is thought. It starts by Adressbook Sync, continues on not automatical working sync of Lightning with iCal and goes on with many other issues like DL all mails another time, when the HDD is full once.
I know, that TB has some features, that are hard to miss afterwards. Once again: I used it for years now and I loved it. But its no more covering all aspects of what I need - privately and for business usage.
I would be soooooo happy, if anybody would post an answer and not again another question, why not using TB instead of Mail.... ;-)

  • I need help importing Thunderbird folders into Apple Mail. I can't locate the folder files for thunderbird. OS Mountain Lion.

I have been using Thunderbird as an email client, but recently realized Apple Mail is a really good alternative and would like to change. However, I would like to preserve my existing Thunderbird email history and folder structure in Apple Mail. Apple Mail includes an import Mailboxes process, but when I try, I cannot locate the files I want to import from Thunderbird. They appear to be hidden. I haven't been able to determine if OS 10 hides files and how to make them visible.

All of your TBird mail files are located in ~/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/XXX.default. The library folder is hidden in Mountain Lion by default. To make it visible open the terminal app in your utilities folder and type "chflags nohidden ~/Library" without the quotes.

  • Trying to import Entourage Emails into Apple Mail

I recently purchased a new Mac (Mountain Lion) and am trying to import the emails from my old Mac. I was previously using Entourage but I want to import them into Apple Mail.
My old Mac will not restart but I have a copy on time machine. I think I have located the correct folder (and have copied it to my desktop):
    My User Name/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004 Identities/Main Identity/Database
However, when I click on the Import Mailboxes option in Apple Mail, it only gives me the following options:
Apple Mail, Netscape/Mozilla, Thunderbird, Eudora, Files in mbox format.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to proceed?
    Many thanks
    Claire

One method which is manual is as follows.
With the Apple Address Book and Entourage address book launched and both positioned so each is partially visible, select the Address Book "All" Group.
Select a contact in the Entourage address book and at the menu bar, go to Edit > Select All to select/highlight all Entourage contacts.
Click and drag all selected/highlighted contacts to the Address Book Name column for the "All" Group and release.
After selecting all Entourage contacts, you can also try Edit > Copy.
Select the Name column for the Address Book "All" Group and at the Address Book menu bar, go to Edit and select Paste.

  • Importing Thunderbird filters to Mail?

How can I import my Thunderbird filters into apple mail rules?

To the best of my knowledge, there's no way to import rules into Mail from any other mail program. The structure and options for filters/rules are usually completely different from one mail application to another.

  • Can´t import "SENT" mails from Netspace to Apple-Mail

When I imported my mails from Netscape 7 to the Apple "Mail" program it took all but the "SENT" file. What do I have to do ?
    Thanks

I don't know why Mail would import everything except the Sent mailbox, but you would get better results using Eudora Mailbox Cleaner to do the conversion.

  • Importing Tiger Mail to Panther Mail

    Hi,
My drive with 10.4 (Tiger) is having problems booting and am using a backup drive which has 10.3 (Panther) on it. I am trying to import my mail box from the 10.4 disk to the 10.3 disk but it doesn't see any of my mail from my original hard drive. Does Mail 2 do something different with the mailboxes? Any one have any suggestions? Thanks.
    Jack

    Hello Jack.
Tiger Mail uses a difference mbox format than used with previous Mail.app versions.
Each message contained in a Tiger mailbox is stored as a separate file in .emix format which is an Apple proprietary format designed primarily for Spotlight search capabilities but also reduces if not eliminates the "overstuffed" mailbox issue experienced with the mbox format used with previous Mail.app versions.
The Tiger mbox format is not backwards compatible to previous Mail.app versions without a workaround.
Check this link for an emix to mbox converter.

  • Spotlight & Thunderbird Mail

Is there a way to have Spotlight search Thunderbird Mail?
Thunderbird makes great HTML mail which is essential to my home based business, especially tables for layout.
Spotlight searches Entourage and Apple Mail just fine.
Spotlight is one of the most useful features of OSX for me, it's an incredible time saver.
    Thanks in advance.

As a workaround I'd get EasyFind...

PS. funny how different things work for different people... Spotlight is the bane of my existence!

  • How to restore Thunderbird mail archive from external harddrive?

Macbook Pro crashed (display). However, the hard drive is fully ok. How I can restore the local Thunderbird mail archive from the hard drive? I can see it as external drive from another mac computer.

    Terve, pekkak!
Tässä englanninkielisessä kysymyksessä tulikin sitten jo vähän enemmän taustatietoa. Mielestäni paras vaihtoehto olisi koko profiilin kopiointi, sillä silloin saisit toiseen koneeseesi täsmälleen saman tilanteen kuin vanhassa koneessasi. Edelleen, sovella ohjeita artikkelissa [[Thunderbirdin profiilit]].

  • How to important "sent mail" from another account into Mail?

I wasn't sure where to put this question because of the way this forum is organized.
    Anyway, here is my problem:
I woke up thinking I may have forgotten to send an important e-mail yesterday. I thought, "No problem, I won't have to drive all the way to work. I'll just set up Mail on my iMac to use the e-mail account I use at work." It's an SBCGlobal account, so I found most of the information I needed about the mail servers and POP and IMAP and all that stuff that could be termed in a lot more user-friendly language so I don't have a conniption fit trying to figure out what it is I'm doing.
I finally managed to get it set up to where all of the messages from the inboxes were imported into my Mail app. One big problem: I need to look at the *sent* mail, and if I didn't send the e-mail I thought I needed to, I need to access attachments that I sent to others.
So how do I important the sent folder from my work e-mail account into Mail?

I wouldn't doubt it. I work at a small church so we don't have much funding, but we're switching to Gmail. I found an older, unedited print copy of what I was supposed to send and made alterations to that and e-mailed it to the people who needed it. The other thing I was supposed to e-mail isn't essential, I suppose, as it's Sunday's bulletin and everyone will be picking one up tomorrow when they come to church anyway. It's just that I'm fairly new at the position, I love everyone at the church and with whom I work, and I want to do everything right 100% of the time to please them because I'm very Type A. I've been really getting a hang of my job, but it seems there's always one thing that I screw up. I guess I'll get better with experience. And hopefully switching to Gmail, if I do this again, I can just access everything from home.

  • Problem importing javax.mail.*

    Hey,
I just installed the Java JDK 6 update 16 (windows platform). I am not able to compile a sample code that used the javax.mail package. I am not able to get past the
    import javax.mail.*;
line. The compiles says "package javax.mail does not exist"
I tried separately installing the JavaMail 1.4.2 API and setting the classpath to the mail.jar file as suggested in the readme.txt for this API, but I still get the same problem. Anyone has any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Hi! I see you've answered similar problems before - but nothing seems to be working for me.
My OS is Vista. I installed the JDK 6 update 16 just yesterday. I'm using the command line javac.
I can see the mail.jar file in this folder: C:\Sun\SDK\lib\ and I've set the classpath using : set classpath=%classpath%;C:\Sun\SDK\lib\mail.jar
When I type set classpath at the prompt, I can see that the classpath has been set correctly.
    Please help!
