Import times vary-explain this to me please

Why is it that when I’m importing a CD to iTunes (this is with either a new CD or an old CD) the import times vary so drastically?

2. It displays the objects on the stage. (It displays them one by one in the order in which they
were dragged to the stage from the Library when you designed the game in the FLA.)what does he mean by saying display them on the stage?? because i cant see them without addchild method and he said the swf file display them??!!!!!!!!
are you using pure AS3 or are you using the design tool in CS4/5
when using the design tool in CS4/5 you can have objects in the library and drag them to the stage. this will automatically at the objects to the stage without having to call addChild()
if you are using pure AS3 you don't have access to this and you have to explicity add all you objects using addChild
Here’s the issue: if the class’s constructor method includes a reference to the stage or an object that
is on the stage that hasn’t yet been displayed, you’ll get an error message saying this: here i cant understand any single word!!
Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
you would only need to add a reference to the stage for non DisplayObjects (e.g. generally things that aren't sprites or MovieClips)
All DisplayObjects have access to the stage via the stage property. The stage property for an object is always null until you call addChild, not when they are constructed as you mention.
if you are trying to use the stageWidth and stageHeight property you shouldn't do this in the constructor of the object instead you would need to add an Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE listener and then do any configuration based ont he stage within this listener.
hope that clears it up a little

  • Can anyone explain this to me, please. It's a static section question.

    Can anyone explain this to me, please. It's a static section question.
    I came across the following style of programming recently and I would like to know what the Static section is actually doing in the class. Thx.
    Here is the code.
    public class ClassA {
         private static Hashtable ClassAList = new Hashtable();
         private ClassB cB;
         private Vector goodLink;
         private Hashtable classCList;
         static
              ClassA cA = new ClassA();
              ClassAList.put("whatever", cA);
         public static ClassA getClassA()
              return (ClassA) ClassAList.get("whatever");

    hi,
    The static section shall be loaded before it's constructor is called. (i.e at the time of loading the class). Therefore making it available for any other objects to call.
    hope this clarifies ur question

  • Explain This to Me Please....

    Been having problems trying to diagnosis a problem I've been having with the computer booting up and then dying out on me. Basically, the right fan spins wildly and the display goes black.
    I began to think this morning that it was a Thermal Sensor issue, but now I'm not sure since the incredible thing is that it doesn't happen when I run Windows XP under Bootcamp.
    So can someone explain to me why it would work fine under Windows and not Mac OSX?!!?
    MTIA

    Probably something corrupted in your system installation. It would help if you explained what you mean by "dying out on me."
    I suggest you download AppleJack - VersionTracker or MacUpdate - and use it to perform all troubleshooting steps. Or you can download a tool such as TinkerTool System, Onyx, Tiger Cache Cleaner, etc. and use it to clear all caches. If there's a corrupted cache file causing the problem this should fix it.
    If the problem is a runaway program you can discover that by opening Activity Monitor in your Utilities folder, select All Processes from the Processes drop down menu, then click twice on the CPU column header to display in descending order. If you see a program consuming a high amount of CPU time then note down what that program is. Then select the program and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar, then click on the Force Quit button. If that cures the problem, then you may need to reinstall the program if it's a third-party program. If it's a system utility or application, then you may need to replace it or reinstall OS X.

  • Could someone explain this to me, please?

    I fixed a problem without really understanding how and why the problem occured or even why my fix worked.  I'm hoping somebody can explain it to me.  Here's the problem:
    My form had this structure:
    MainSubform
         Page1Subform
              Subform1
              Subform2
              Subform3
         Page2Subform
              other subforms
         Page3Subform
              other subforms.
    There were other objects under the
    My application viewer, which is FormStream filler, was finding a fourth node under Page1Suform.  I couldn't access this phantom node in any way to find out any information about it, so any Javascript which navigated the hierarchy would error when it tried to reach it.
    Through a long consultation with other developers, I found that there was something called a 'bind match" node.  They couldn't explain it to me.  Not knowing what a 'bind match" node was, and figuring it had something to do with linking a data source to an object, I started checking the Default Binding tab in the Object Panel.  The Default Binding for Page1Subform was set to None, while the Default Binding for every other subform was set to Normal.  I set the Default Binding for Page1Subform to Normal and my problem disappeared.  I tried setting other Default Binding properties of other subforms to None to see what would happen, and the phantom node seemed to reappear and follow those subforms around.
    Can anybody give me an explanation of what was happening?

    Hi again,
    right so I have done what you all said and gone and read a book on LabView fundamentals, "introduction to data aquisition with LABVIEW by RH king"
    it has answered my questions about the for loop and most of the rest, the thing I am now having trouble with is the pink lines coming from the DAQ assistant, I have tried all the options, generate signal, aquire, sine wave, digital, continuous samples, N samples but I can't get a pink line, all I can get in that location is a gray "error out", is this all it is, just connect error out to error in.
    Also another thing that is confusing me is, just before the graph, that component between the last division and the graph indicator, I am having trouble identifying.
    Sorry to keep badgering on about this one but I need to get this example completed for work.

  • My iPhone (4 8GB) is showing i have around 1.2GB of space, yet on iTunes, I'm being told i have 856 MB, Can anyone explain this to me please?

    So yeah, I went to transfer some songs just now, and I checked on my iTunes to see what memory I have. According to iTunes I have 856 MB, yet the iPhone itself is saying i have 1.2GB. Who do I believe?
    And yes - I am pretty hard done by on storage, I'm pretty minimal with my apps. It's rubbish

    There's a whole lot to read in your post, and frankly I have not read it all.
    Having said that, this troubleshooting guide should help:

    Why is it that when I’m importing a CD to iTunes (this is with either a new CD or an old CD) the import times vary so drastically? And whether they're old or new it seems that when a few songs are being imported the speed of the import ramps up?

  • Trying to understand RSTP - Please can someone explain this?

    Hi Group
    I am still confused about how RSTP is implemented. From what i understand the major difference is that STP
    used Timers for Loop prevention whereas RSTP coordinates between neighbors via messages (proposal/aggreement) to turn on links
    more quickly after topology changes and is "timer free".
    However, I have not noticed any difference in the configuration from the legacy STP
    configurations and the RSTP configuration on cisco devices. Or are there any differences??
    I have read in documentation that RSTP natively includes features like UplinkFast, BackboneFast and PortFast. So are these features now obsolete
    and not needed to be configured if you are running RSTP. (Although i have seen Portfast still configured along with RSTP on many switches)
    Also can someone explain the below Points from Cisco Documentation
    1) should STP be disabled on edge ports all together as suggested below?
    "STP edge ports are bridge ports that do not need STP enabled, where loop protection is not needed out
    of that port or an STP neighbor does not exist out of that port. For RSTP, it is important to disable STP
    on edge ports, which are typically front-side Ethernet ports, using the command bridge
    bridge-group-number spanning-disabled on the appropriate interface. If RSTP is not disabled on edge
    ports, convergence times will be excessive for packets traversing those ports."
    2) It seems RSTP relies on duplex setting to determine inter-switch links. What is the configuration to explicitly
    configure RSTP link types? (I couldnt find this in the documentation)
    "RSTP can only achieve rapid transition to the forwarding state on edge ports and on point-to-point links.
    The link type is automatically derived from the duplex mode of a port. A port that operates in fullduplex
    is assumed to be point-to-point, while a half-duplex port is considered as a shared port by
    default. This automatic link type setting can be overridden by explicit configuration. In switched
    networks today, most links operate in full-duplex mode and are treated as point-to-point links by RSTP.
    This makes them candidates for rapid transition to the forwarding state."
    Also i am a bit rough on my RSTP knowledge even after skimming a few Cisco documents. Can someone please explain this in simple way.
    Thanks in advance

    to configure it on a device:-
    spanning-tree mode rapid-pvst
    PortFast/UplinkFast & BackboneFast were cisco "Enhancements" to 802.1d STP. RSTP just incorperates them. If you want to configure portfast, the command is still "spanning-tree portfast"
    OK
    1) That is your choice - I have bitter experiance of users/IT admins just plugging hubs/switches in when ever they can. Also cabling the switch back to itself creating a cabled loop. So my advice to you is to leave STP enabled on all switch ports, BUT enable BPDUGuard - this is a life saver, if you have configured portfast.
    2) duplex auto! or duplex full (overiding)
    I really suggest that you read the 802.1d standard, once you understand normal spanning-tree - RSTP will come to you.

    I am a new (junior)programmer?Can anyone please explain this code to me in lame terms? I am working at a client location and found this code in a project.
    _file name is AtccJndiTemplate.java_
    Why do we use the Context class?
    Why do we use the properties class?
    package org.atcc.common.utils;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.InputStream;
    import java.util.Properties;
    import java.util.logging.Logger;
    import javax.naming.Context;
    import javax.naming.InitialContext;
    import javax.naming.NamingException;
    import org.springframework.jndi.JndiTemplate;
    public class AtccJndiTemplate extends JndiTemplate
      private static Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(AtccJndiTemplate.class.getName());
      private String jndiProperties;
      protected Context createInitialContext()
        throws NamingException
        Context context = null;
        InputStream in = null;
        Properties env = new Properties();
        logger.info("Load JNDI properties from classpath file " + this.jndiProperties);
        try
          in = AtccJndiTemplate.class.getResourceAsStream(this.jndiProperties);
          env.load(in);
          in.close();
        catch (NullPointerException e) {
          logger.warning("Did not read JNDI properties file, using existing properties");
          env = System.getProperties();
        } catch (IOException e) {
          logger.warning("Caught IOException for file [" + this.jndiProperties + "]");
          throw new NamingException(e.getMessage());
        logger.config("ENV: java.naming.factory.initial = " + env.getProperty
    ("java.naming.factory.initial"));
        logger.config("ENV: java.naming.factory.url.pkgs = " + env.getProperty
    ("java.naming.factory.url.pkgs"));
        logger.info("ENV: java.naming.provider.url = " + env.getProperty
    ("java.naming.provider.url") + " timeout=" + env.getProperty("jnp.timeout"));
        context = new InitialContext(env);

        return this.jndiProperties;
      public void setJndiProperties(String jndiProperties)
        this.jndiProperties = jndiProperties;
    }

    Hi,
    JNDI needs some property such as the
    java.naming.factory.initial
    java.naming.provider.url
    which are needed by the
    InitialContext(env);
    where env is a properties object
    Now if you can not find the physical property file on the class path
    by AtccJndiTemplate.class.getResourceAsStream(this.jndiProperties);
    where the String "jndiProperties" get injected by certain IOC ( inverse of control container ) such as Spring framework
    if not found then it will take the property from the system which will come from the evniromental variables which are set during the application start up i.e through the command line
    java -Djava.naming.factory.initial=com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory -Danother=value etc..
    I hope this could help

  • HT3275 Please can anyone explain this to me

    Please can anyone explain this to me - thank you -
    Time Machine couldn't complete the backup to time capsule - The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data-1/Alyson’s iMac.sparsebundle” is already in use.

    The explanation is a long standing bug in Lion and Mountain Lion, but what you might really be asking is how to fix the problem.
    Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule
    Wait a few minutes
    Plug the power cord back in
    If that does not fix the problem you will need to dig deeper.  See #C12 in Pondini's excellent Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    can any one please explain this behavior.
    1. oracle tells us that when the full table scans are performed db file scattered event appears but here clearly db file parallel read was occuring.
    2. as the table was going through the full table scan as oracle 11gr2 default behavior will not cache the blocks that are part of the table going through the full table scan is this the reason why the db file parallel read wait event was occuring.
    3. clearly in the explain plan it used a view called VW_DAG_0 which is inexistant on the database is this a bug or this is the behavior of oracle optimizer to create a view.
    4. before collecting any statistics on the table when the same sql statement to count is executed a lot of db file parallel read waits appeared, can any one please explain this behavior.
    5. while doing the full table scans if the oracle shows the waits as db file parallel read (occurs when the recovery or parallel processes are used), but is this behavior changed.
    finally,
    6. can any one please explain the difference between the db file parallel read and db file scattered read.

    Thanks.  I do not have the experience on burning discs from iMovie for the movie after editing (ie for video discs players).  It seems that i cannot find the relevant command in the tool bar for this purpsoe.  Would you please show me the way?
    The command is gone because iDVD has been discontinued by Apple. After Apple discontinued iDVD they removed the iDVD burning link from iMovie. I still use iDVD sometimes, only because I have an old copy.

    You have mentioned about Handbrake as a converter.  What is the RF no. (under Constant Quality) meant?  It seems that the smaller the no. is, the better quality will be.  What is the optimal no.? or should we use the Average Bitrate? Again, what is the best rate?  Furthermore, which format is more suitable or the best: H264 or mpeg 2/4?
    I don't know what RF means. When I have used HandBrake, I've used presets that apply to what I want to do, so I don't know the meaning of each individual setting. However, it appears that many of them are listed in the HandBrake User's Guide that is linked from the Help menu in the program:

    For iMac, except iMovie, what other software is the best for the amateur?  I have read Photoshop.  Can this support m2ts files and user friendly?
    Photoshop is not amateur-level software, and although it can edit a video, it cannot burn a DVD. Unfortunately, because I still use iMovie, I haven't tried anything else. You might want to read the reviews of various DVD-burning applications in the Mac App Store.
    And maybe another forum member will jump in and help us here!

  • Someone Please Explain This to me-Quad G5 running slower that Christmas

    I just got my Quad Powermac G5 fully loaded w/ 8 Gigs; 2 500 Gig Hd's and this thing is running slower than my 15 inch powerbook with 2 gigs. I am running Motion 1 and I am simply taking a picture and applying an effect (nothing crazy just simple blurs and such) and it will not play in real time? it seems to be just as slow at rendering effects as my powerbook? it took 3 mins. to render 15 seconds? Could someone please explain this phenomenom? I am a little baffled and ****** off.
    Quad Powermac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Mac OS X is heavily cache and swap dependant, its like the OS was designed to run with flash RAM instead of hard drives or something.
    The speed of Mac OS X will improve greatly upon the I/O speed of your boot drive.
    Since you got the stock 250 GB, most likely without a large 16Mb cache, Mac OS X will crawl slower and slower as the boot drive fills up.
    I've noticed with my brand new 20" iMac G5 that I'm getting beachballs, there is nothing hardly on the drive and it's not even hooked ot the internet and it's slow, a pig 250 GB 7,200 RPM drive.
    My main machine in my signature is lighting quick, windows snap open, program launch fast as heck and boot time is under 30 seconds. Actually it's a combination of things, fast video card, plenty of RAM and fast drive I/O speed that make a Mac snappy with the feature and eye candy rich Mac OS X.
    The Quad has four processors, so CPU intensive multi-threaded applications will perform long jobs in short order. As well as running many applications at once.
    What will help make your Quad snappy is to replace your boot drive with a 74 GB 10,000 RPM Western Digital Raptor and keep it slim, keep your files on a second drive, leave your iTunes and User "home" folders alone on the Raptor just near empty.
    I've written it up here in a text doc
    (I get no comp for product mention)

  • HT4847 I am unable to delete the last backup from icloud, i checked my all device setting but it still say "cannot delete icloud this time because it is in use,"Please tell me what should i do.

    I am unable to delete the last backup from icloud, i checked my all device setting but it still say "cannot delete icloud this time because it is in use,"Please tell me what should i do

    It still didn't work...
    Within this commonfiles\apple folder, there is only one folder, labeled "Internet Services." Within this folder, there are 6 folders, labeled:
    APLZOD.resources
    BookmarkDAV_client.resources
    CoreDAV.resources
    iCloud.resources
    iCloudServices.resources
    ShellStreams.resources
    Within all but CoreDAV and BookmarkDAV_client, there are multiple different folders, all labeled starting with a two letter (acronym I believe, for different languages) then .lproj (for example, a folder is labeled "ar.lproj".
    In each of the folders of APLZOD.resources, there is a file labeled "APLZODlocalized.dll."
    In all of the folders containing the multiple .lproj folders, there are likewise "name"localized.dll files contained.
    In the BookmarkDAV_client and Core DAV folders, they each contain only one file, "Info.plist"
    I attempted to delete all of these files, and still, the FileAssassin could not delete them. I unlocked one of them for instance, and I tried to delete the file myself (thru windows explorer and just clicking delete), and I still had the same issue of coming eventually to the window requesting me to "try again" to have permission.
    What can I do?? I'd like to avoid Unlocker, but if it really is a reliable and SAFE program, and someone knows a SAFE place to download it from, I'd appreciate it very much so!!
    thanks!!
