Import utility IMP-00009: abnormal end of export file.

IMP-00009: abnormal end of export file.
I have received a 34 GB dmp file exported using exp utility 9.2. and i am importing it into 10.2.0.1.0
1) Not sure wheher its exported from Unix or windows.. how to make out?
2)I imported using ...BIN>imp user1/pwd FILE=C:\exp.dmp
SHOW=y fromuser=user2 touser=user1 ROWS=Y IGNORE=y GRANTS=y Constraints=
y log=C:\exp.log
Note my login user and my to user are same and i have grant DBA to user1.
3)When i import, after an hour+ it terminates saying abruprt end of export file.
4)I am not aware of the command used for export whether its FULL DB or only user etc.... how to find out? from show = y i selected 1 username and used it as from user.
5)This file was sent to me through a FTP server from where i downloaded.
Plz help i need to import urgently, what should i be doing?

I also read that FULL=Y is not supported when i import 9i dmp into 10g dmp. Is it true?False
It is an export of the Backup it seems. What difference does it make if we export from DB Backup and export from DB itself? There is nothing called export of a backup. The dump is created by an oracle binary called EXPORT.
You can execute this command against an oracle database
exp username/pwd@hoststring file=c:\oracle\bk\test.dmp fully=y....and so on

This means the export dump file is corrupted.
In UNIX see this command to see whether the dump file is complete
    $ tail expdat.dmp
It should have EXIT in the last line.

When I try to import my dump file i receive this error IMP-00009: abnormal end of export file even if my buffer is set to 2000000000.
    Any help would be great.
    Regards

The export file is probably from an aborted Export session. Better retry the export and then import it again, if possible.
If not possible, report this as an Import bug and submit the export file that caused this error to Oracle Support Services.

  • Abnormal end of export file

    Hi!
During an import, Oracle generates the following error:
Abnormal end of export file ...
Is any way or hint to fix the end of file ??
    TIA
    Angel Castro

    Hi Angel
In that case passed 2 possible things:
1.- The transfer to the tape or from the tape ot disk was not in binary mode
2.- The export utility did not finish succesful the exportation when somebody was doing that activity.

  • IMP-00010: not a valid export file (downward from 10.2.0.1 to 8.1.7.0)

    Hi,
We have requirement to transfer User's all tables from 10.2.0.1 database to 8.1.7.0 database
I have successfully exported user along with all tables and its data from the 10.2.0.1 database,
now when i am doing import into 8.1.7.0, i am getting the following error :
IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
    IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
when i searched the internet, in the one blog it mentions as below :
Oracle's exp/imp utilities are not downward compatible.
you must use 9.02.1 exp to extract from instance 9.02.03 and then you are able to imp into 9.02.1
so as per above, i will have to use 8.1.7.0 exp to extract from instance 10.2.0.1 database.
So, how it can be done ?????
where i have done mistake ???
    With Regards

It seem you quoted me out of context. I was trying to point out that why read some blog entry of the 'net when the basic rules are clearly documented.
    fbortel wrote:
Well in that very same piece of documentation it becomes clear you cannot export 10G, and import into 8i.Which section says this?
The table (if that's it) gives a few exampes: "Table 19-7 shows some examples "
I'm pretty sure that anything after Oracle8 should work. As long as you are using the right version of 'exp'.
But there is a Metalink Note that goes into more detail. (and should be more correct than my memory allows me)

  • IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification

    Hi everyone,
I am new in oracle's world, and I've been working with an export from a sun platform, and I try to import to a windows platform. I've been receiving this message error
IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
Please, help me I have to finish with that today..
Thanks and have a nice New Year

    thanks for your answer.
sorry, but I don't have all exact information, because that export is comming from a client, and I don't know all information. I only know that the platform is sun.
I received the file via an usb memory, directly from the source.
I've been read that if you make an export in sun platform and it isn't as binary when you transfer it to a windows platform, it will be corrupt.
    Could you confirm me that?

  • Recovery from bad export file - IMP0009 error

    Hi all,
I have a large export that is split into 2Gb chunks using FILESIZE option at export .. string is something like this:
    exp userid=xxx/xxx filesize=2048M file=bu${DATE}_01.dmp,bu${DATE}_02.dmp,b
    u${DATE}_03.dmp full=y log=bu${DATE}.log
..export log showed no errors but on import I'm getting IMP0009 : abnormal end of export file
Typically there's a rather large and important table that's split between the first and 2nd files which I really need to get at. If I import at the moment it rolls back the first 1.1 million odd rows before it fails and it wont load the 2nd file at all, says something about the sequence of the file being incorrect.
    OS is AIX 4.3.3
    Oracle is 8.1.7.0.0
Any ideas how I can recover the table that is split accross files? I've tried catting the files together to form one large one (and import on an OS without file system size limits) .. no dice although perhaps I can alter it to fool it into thinking it's 1 file??
    Thanks in desparation!

I encountered the following error in the log file that was getting generated :
IMP-00008: unrecognized statement in the export file:
All the tables got copied except for one. Now what I have thought of is to import that one table again after taking an export from the prod schema.

If reimporting the schema again the only option ?
    Thanks

    Hello,
    In this order:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/exp_imp.htm#i1023988
    Table Objects: Order of Import
Table objects are imported as they are read from the export file. The export file contains objects in the following order:
    1. Type definitions
    2. Table definitions
    3.Table data
    4.Table indexes
    5. Integrity constraints, views, procedures, and triggers
    6. Bitmap, function-based, and domain indexes
The order of import is as follows: new tables are created, data is imported and indexes are built, triggers are imported, integrity constraints are enabled on the new tables, and any bitmap, function-based, and/or domain indexes are built. This sequence prevents data from being rejected due to the order in which tables are imported. This sequence also prevents redundant triggers from firing twice on the same data (once when it is originally inserted and again during the import).
For example, if the emp table has a referential integrity constraint on the dept table and the emp table is imported first, all emp rows that reference departments that have not yet been imported into dept would be rejected if the constraints were enabled.
When data is imported into existing tables, however, the order of import can still produce referential integrity failures. In the situation just given, if the emp table already existed and referential integrity constraints were in force, many rows could be rejected.
A similar situation occurs when a referential integrity constraint on a table references itself. For example, if scott's manager in the emp table is drake, and drake's row has not yet been loaded, scott's row will fail, even though it would be valid at the end of the import.

  • How to convert exported file?

I trying to solve this problem. I have exported file from Oracle 9i2. I have only Oracle 8.1.6 and I must import this file into my DB. Standard import procedure does not work. It stops with message
IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
    IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
Because exp/imp is not backward compatible :-(
The solution is to use Oracle 8.1.6 export utility on Oracle 9i2. But I don't have access to this database. And ofcourse I don't have Oracle 9i2.
Is it possible to convert somehow 9i2 exported file into 8.1.6 format? Please give me also answer, when it is not possible.
    Thanks
    Peter

If you received the 9.2 export from another site and are unable to use the 8.1.6 export utility against that database, your only option would be to create a 9.2 database at your site, import the data and then reexport with 8.1.6 from YOUR database.

  • How to export files in CS4 to a new project?

I am trying to create a "Master" project by exporting or combining 3 of my edited projects into a distinctive project.
I have tried creating a New Project, as well as opening the first project of the Master series and trying to export the other 2 files into it.
With CS3 all I did was double click in the project box and import.
In CS4 it says the export files are not responding.
I can export single clips but not a complete project file.
It was so simple in CS3, but now it does not work in CS4; what's up.
    Thanks Jim

Thanks for all the input.......I got it fixed; I think.
I reloaded CS4. And this time when I got to the "Import not responding" I clicked "Allow it to respond" or something like that. I had done that before but all I got was a clip or clips, not the projects. But this time it worked, I got the whole project.
I had to double click the grayed file in sequence #1.
t then went to a new TL still called seq #1.
Then I went back to the origional TL and deleated the grayed area.
Then I went back to second TL: "Edit" / "Select all" / "Edit" / "Copy".
Then back to the origional Seq #1 or TL: "Edit" / "Paste" / "Save".
Then I went up to the sceond TL header box and the clicked the "X - Close".
I ended up with new project with all three projects. I changed the name to Master #2.
After that I Rendered. I am still waiting on it to render for an 1 1/2 hours. Then I can see exactly where I am. But at least I get this far.
    Thanks JIM

  • Date concatination to export file name on windows / Novell

    Hi everybody,
I need utility which can add date at end of export file. How its possible in DOS/Windows/NT/Novell.
    eg: exprod.dmp --- exprod07122002.dmp
    Thanks

If you're invoking export with a shell script you could do something like:
    exp file=exp%date%.dmp <other options>
If you want to format the date you need to do something ugly like:
    setlocal
    for /F "tokens=1-4 delims=/ " %%i in ('date /t') do (
    set DayOfWeek=%%i
    set Month=%%j
    set Day=%%k
    set Year=%%l
    exp file=exp%Day%%Month%%Year%.dmp <other options>
    endlocal

  • Numbers Added to Exported files in CS6

Is there any way to prevent Illustrator from adding numbers to the end of exported files? It's really annoying because I end up with a bunch of extra files and only need the single exported version that I overwrite when making changes to the AI file. It's also annoying when I have an exported file linked in a Premiere or Indesign file. I was last using CS3 wich didn't have this 'feature.'

Right, but why have an extra step with an unecessary work around? There should be a setting to control files names with artboard exports...
