Import version 3 vs 2

Question

Just upgraded to 3.0.1. In Aperture 2 I created projects (e.g., school #1) which then contained folders for various events, e.g., baseball, soccer. The baseball folder contained subfolders for each game. When importing photos for a new game I would just create a subfolder for it in the Projects sidebar, click on import, select the photos and point the arrow to the appropriate folder. The import process in 3 confuses me. In the Aperture Library dialogue side bar for Destination I select the new subfolder name. Then for Store Files I select the School #1 project. I don't know what to select under subfolder, so I select none. All the pictures are imported as referenced into the Project and not into the subfolder. Help me understand the differences between importing into 2 vs 3, and how to import into 3 so I can continue the structure I developed in 2. Ap 3 Projects look like, iPhoto Events. When I click to view package contents I see my subfolders where the names are dates the photos were taken, like in iPhoto. (I don't like this iPhoto organization style.) Is there a KB file or something that will help me make this transition. I watched the video on import basics for 3, but it doesn't help.

Clarification. The way I organized photos in Ap2 was to create a Project (e.g., School 1) then create folders for different sports (e.g., baseball, soccer, etc.). Within the folders for each sport I would put albums for each game. I said previously that I created subfolders. That was incorrect. I create albums within the folders.
