Import Video - Flash CS3
<This message was posted in the General Discussion forum
by mistake.>
I am trying to import video into Flash CS3.
File>Import Video is how I start.
In the dialog box I navigate to my file (I have tried both
avi and mpg files)
When I hit next I get the following error:
"A required system library did not initialize properly.
Please ensure you have DirectShow 9 and QuickTime 7 or higher
installed on your system."
Do I really need DS9 and QT7?
QT never has played nice with my computer so I would like to
avoid installing it.
Ideas?
Thanks

Captivate 3 is wrong size when importing into Flash CS3
I've tried exporting, publishing etc. and no matter how I
try, when I import into Flash CS3 the size of the Captivate content
(background screens, in particular) are too small. For example, I
captured a 423x424 area for my Captivate project. When I import
into a Flash CS3 project with the same dimensions the Captivate
content (screens) are more like 203x203.5 and the mouse path and
slide context starting positions are upper left corner. I've tried
adjusting some of the importing settings but can't get the screens
the right size unless I resize each one manually - and I have
around 100. Any help greatly appreciated!

export to flash cs3. unknown error.
why the hell doesnt Adobe say that flash is required to
export to flash BEFORE I buy the software? I am using my pc for
captivate, but am primarily mac based and was going to edit in
flash on my mac. but captivate didnt allow for me to export to
flash at all without any kind of flash installed. I installed a
demo version of flash, but the export is coming up with an error.
any ideas out there? adobe??? I'm currently using vista OS.

IMovie 10 import video flashes
Novice iMovie user here needing some help. I'm using iMovie 10.
I've imported some video clips into iMovie, but when play them back, they now have like a repetitive flashing or jump about every 1/2 second.
Playback the same clip with QuickTime and no problem.
Any ideas on cause and what I can do to correct?Greetings kenfused,
After reviewing your post, it sounds like you want to change the date and time on some events. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

Flash CS3 MovieClip artefact/bug?
Hi there,
I'm having a serious problem with line artefacts appearing in
a SWF movie.
They appear between exactly adjacent MovieClip symbols that
should have no intervening space (most obvious when the adjacent
shapes happen to be the same colour).
My workflow is:
1) Take a PNG image and Live Trace it in Illustrator CS3 to
fills, save as AI.
2) Import CS3 AI to Flash CS3 and convert each shape to
MovieClip and give it a name using funky new wizard.
3) Manually change the colour of one of these MovieClip
instances to be the same as an adjacent MovieClip instance using
the Flash IDE
4) Publish to SWF9
Problem is the published SWF9 has serious line artefacts
appearing between the two shapes that are exactly adjacent and have
the same colour. They should instead visually blend together with
no thin line between them.
I can overcome this problem by NOT converting the shapes to
MovieClips when I import to Flash CS3 in step 2) above, and then
instead changing the colour of the same shape which is now a
Drawing Object. When I publish this version to SWF9, there is no
line artefact, just perfectly blended adjacent shapes.
Problem now is that I don't have instance names to import my
SWF to Flex and programmatically manipulate the colours of my
lovely little vector picture.
Can it really be the case that I have to choose between
visual integrity and programmatic functionality after all of the
recent releases and improvements?
Many thanks for your thoughts,
RichI found a hack to fix the problem:
Give every MovieClip instance a 0.25 solid linestyle with the
same colour as its fill colour.
This causes all of the adjacent MovieClips to very slightly
bleed into each other, thereby masking the unsightly gaps that were
appearing before.
Since my original post I discovered that the gap problem was
actually present (although more subtle) in the AI file after using
Live Trace. It became more pronounced after import to Flash CS3,
but can be managed as per above hack. -
Flash CS3 import Video playback appears half black
Hello everybody,

This problem occurs when a file becomes. wmv to .swf, using Adobe Flash CS3 import video feature. (Windows 7 Professional x64)
At the end is a video (codec On2's VP6.2) which appears a black band at the top half. I reinstalled the entire CS3 suite, but the problem persists.

Sync and frame rate problems importing video to Flash CS3
Just like the subject states, I am indeed having frame rate problems importing video to Flash CS3.
When I export a video from Premiere with the settings:
1280x720
frame rate of 23.976
using H264 or Animation (basically every codec produces the same results),
"embed video on SWF and play in timeline"
When I do this the file exports fine. Playing it in Quicktime works fine and the audio syncs up no problem. But when I import it into Flash using the same settings, for some reason the movie clip is now too fast in that the video does not match the audio and seems to be at more like 12 fps now (just a guestimate). The action of the video is over long before the audio even comes in.I have verified that the frame rate is correct in Flash so it's not that.
I've done this literally hundreds of times in the past and suddenly it does not work and I can not figure out why. I'm not even really using video, but actually artwork that I am putting together as an animatic for an animated piece so the video could not have been imported incorrectly or digitized wrong either. Can someone out there please tell me how to make this work? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
-MikeThanks for you quick response however it really doesn't apply to what I am doing in any way. I will not be uploading the video to a server. I am using the imbed function so I can use it as a layer and then animate over it. It is just reference and will ultimately be deleted. The Fla file does indeed carry the same specs as I stated in my first post. I have done it this way dozens of times and I am trying to figure out why it suddenly will not work.

Importing existing flash video files??
howdy
quick question. if you import existing flash video files into an encore project, will this help reduce the final render time? or will encore rerender the existing flash video files?
cheers
angusEncore CS3 won't import FLV files. You must render the project to Flash.
You may want to file a feature request at Adobe's support page asking for support for Flash-ready assets, to eliminate the need to transcode in Encore. -
Maintaining original video size when importing into Flash
Hi All,
We've imported a number of videos for a client in order to
stream them via Flash. The problem we are experiencing though is
that flash seems to stretch the video height. For example, here is
the video on Youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7EWMzIXQg8
which is fine
and here is the video imported into flash:
http://www.geofframm.com/movie/frommetoyou.html
We've tried adjusting the height/width settings, but to no
avail.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Best wishes

How to import swc into Adobe Flash CS3 ?
I use following command to create a swc file, such as test.swc, there is a file named test.swf in myapp directory
compc -include-sources myapp -output test.swc
then I copy test.swc into Adobe Flash CS3\zh_cn\Configuration\Components directory, Then I restart Adobe Flash CS3,and create a file and press ctrl+f7, but I don't find test.swc! Why? Where is wrong? How to import swc into Adobe Flash cs3?
ThanksIf you want to embed videos in your muse site, without using a service like youtube or vimeo, then you will need to manually upload the video files on the server and use them via the video tag available in html5, HTML5 Video
To insert the video tags in your muse pages, you will need to use the 'Object -> Insert HTML' option.
Since this option is not available in Muse, out of the box, I will recommend that you post this on our ideas section over here, https://forums.adobe.com/community/muse/ideas, and let our devs team know of this requirement.

Importing PDF into flash CS3 - Importer du PDF dans CS3
Hello.
Originally, i posted my question in french. So i will try to
convert in english, but my english is poor.
You can see the original in french, in back of this topic, in
bolded text
So, my problem : i can import some PDF files with Flash MX
2004, but i cannot do the same with Flash CS3.
When i import (import in the scene - Command+R) the PDF file
in Flash MX 2004, i got the vectorial logo correctly and the text
as a text.
But when i import (import in the scene - Command+R) the same
PDF file into Flash CS3, there is a problem. At start, i cannot
click the PDF file, i have to choose "all the files" to can click
it. Then i click it and there is a pop window appearing, talking
about "importing video". But my PDF is not Video… And at the
end, the result is a poor jpg image of my PDF, not the vectorials
that i would like.
So why the old Flash MX can do it easily, and the recent CS3
can not ?
What i have to do ?
Bonjour,
vidéo" me demandant de sélectionner si ladite vidéo
Il me demande
Os court !Is that really the end, doc ?

Flash Import Video needs DirectShow9 and Quick Time 7
I have Windows XP.
My Flash CS3 Pro says that I need to have DirectShow9 and
QuickTime 7 installed before it will import the .MOV file that I'm
suppose to use in Chapter 1 from the book Foundation Flash CS3
Video.
I have been trying all morning to find DirectShow9 in order
to install it. My book calls it Direct X 9, and I thought I had
installed what I needed from Microsoft but, obviously, I didn't.
Also, I installed Quick Time 7 but 90% of the buttons are
grayed out with PRO over them. QuickTime asks for another $30 to
upgrade to PRO. I was going to do that, BUT, all the reviews say
that the PRO doesn't work - screaming that they wasted their money
for nothing.
Am I stuck in the mud here? Can you help me find where to
download what I need? I would really appreciate some good, honest
answers. This is so frustrating.I don't know anything about buttons being grayed out with pro
over em. But you need DirectX 9 runtime for flash to decode windows
media files.

And i dont think you need to go pro. I have QT 7.5 on my
system and no trouble here. -
Importing video into Flash --- can I get a Transparent background?
I am using Flash CS3. I am importing a Quicktime video into
Flash through File > Import > Import Video.
Here's the problem, though. I need this video to be
transparent. It appears that all videos imported into this method
have a black background. It makes sense, because usually the video
fills out the entire black area. However, with a video that needs
to be transparent, the black background shows through.
This movie will basically lay over a webpage, so the content,
graphics of the site would be visible behind the video.
What I'm trying to accomplish is very similar to what you see
at the bottom of this page:
http://rovion.com/Showcase/1800Flowers_demo.htm
We've worked out the technology, however using the File >
Import > Import video method adds a black background to the
Flash file, rendering it solid, not transparent.
Is there a way to remove this so the transparency is active?
Thanks for any advice.
MarkMark,
If the video was created with an alpha channel
(transparency) then you have to choose the option to import the
alpha channel in the video import wizard. If there is not an alpha
channel, then you will get the black box. It might be possible to
make the video a movie clip, and play around with the blend of it,
but I don't think you'll have much luck. So, your first step is to
figure out if the video was created and an alpha channel, then make
sure you have the option selected when importing.

Import Video Dialog Box on CS3
This is really frustrating. I'm trying to import an mpeg clip
into the stage and the Import Video Dialog Box is way too big for
my screen. I can't resize it and I can't reach its bottom, no
scrolling or resizing allowed. I hit enter and it takes me to the
skinning dialog box, which has the same problem. When I hit enter,
it does nothing, so I'm stuck and unable to import video at all.
Does anyone have this problem? Are you talking about Flash CS3?
