Import video for still frames

Using a device, specifically Elgato's USB A/D convertor, is ther an application to capture just a still frame or does one need to capture a video stream and then take a screen shot?

Import QT video file, with QT Pro, you can then export a good qualty still.  Screen shots will give you very low qualty.

however after importing i notice the audio quality is not as good.
i need to import with the audio embedded with the video in the

any ideas to get rid of the lisp that is added to the

What all browser did you check your output on? Can you also check on a different machine, playing it locally.
Can you try and set your CPLIBS files to the latest files available in the patch--

  • DynamicLink Media Server won't let me import video for video frames to layers anymore.

I am trying to load a video into photoshop cc (trial) via File > Import > Video Frames to Layers. It has worked in the past, but for some reason has seemed to have stopped working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times, and I've shut down my computer and rebooted it multiple times. I have also looked into the other questions listing "dynamiclink media server" as a problem and have tried to figure out what is wrong, or how to fix it. I have not been able to understand what I should do, so I was hoping someone would know how to help me.
I have a macbook pro, which is about 2 years old. That's all they've told me to list, so thank you if you're able to help!!!

Were you able to solve this problem?
I am experiencing the same on
    Computer Environment:
    MacBook Pro Early 2011
Graphics  AMD Radeon HD 6490M 256 MB
    Memory  16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
SSD with 512GB; about 81GB are still free
    Software:
    Mavericks  OS X 10.9.5
    Adobe Mastercollection CS6 Extended, 64bit.
Including the Dynamic Link Media Server Update 1.0.1 are all individual apps up to date as of today, March 9 2015.
    Quicktime Player (v.10.3)
I am also following this discussion Re: trying to import video"Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document"
but non of the solutions under the post #4, #17 either did not work or applied to me, because they were suggested for a Windows user.
    Other notes:
Bridge is not working at all. It launches, but crashes as soon as you see the workspace.
Hence, Mini Bridge in Photoshop is also crashing.
I do have all codecs for the videos, that I was trying to open, though.
It cannot be an issue, that I have not enough RAM.
After several other problems with After Effects, Premiere Pro and Media Encoder, which remain partly unsolved, this post starts form a fresh installation of the whole Adobe Suite. Even used the Cloud Cleaner Tool beforehand and made sure, all presets are from this CS6 version only.

  • Is it possible to convert a video to still frame?

I'm working on a stop animation project and I want try to use video instead of still frames to capture the animation because I'm teaching kids. Can I shoot the video and then convert it to still frame shots in Final Cut? I know there is a make a freeze frame but is there another option?

  • Can't see any imported video or still images in canvas

    Hi,
I'm a new Motion 4 user. No matter what video or still images I import into a project, my canvas remains black. I am, however, able to see a wireframe outline of where the video / picture should be situated on the canvas. I am also able to hear audio in the timeline. I can also preview the picture when the file is selected in the browser. However, when I look at the project and see the file's I've important, the little preview window is empty, with the checkerboard background, as if it doesn't recognize the picture. I have checked to make sure I'm viewing RGB, instead of Alpha, and I've also trashed the pref and cache files. I'm running an external 23 inch cinema display but I've also disabled that to no avail. No matter what I import I'm simply looking at a black canvas.
I've searched around the threads quite a bit but haven't found a solution yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Sincerely,
    Stewart

You could have a bad install. There's a thread/threads around here talking about the viewer being all white due to a bad install of the program or a corrupt user. I've also heard it manifest with a black screen instead of white.
Quickest thing to check. Create a new user account. Log in there, and open Motion. If Motion opens fine, then you have a problem with your normal user account.

  • FCP through to External monitor....Sound fine but video is still frames

    Hi everybody
In January of this year this problem was posted by Andy D.....
+No matter what combination of settings I choose I cannot get video to play on my HD monitor only a still of the last frame shows up. When I hit play the audio is loud and clear and then when I hit stop the final frame appears on the screen.+
I have this problem but only when the material in my FCP viewer, canvas or sequence is ProRes422 (I'd converted H264s to this before importing into project)! If the project is DV or H264 material that has been rendered by FCP, it plays on the external monitor fine but it seems if we start looking at the high end stuff like ProRes, back to sound but still picture.
I might add here that the path to my external Full HD monitor is through firewire to an ADVC100 converter and then composite cables to the input of the monitor. By the way the same thing happens with an SD monitor.
I haven't tried using my video camera as the link through to the monitor instead of the ADVC100. Would this make a difference? I'd be pretty happy if someone had a solution for this.
    Thanks in anticipation.

Unless the camera is a DVCPRO HD camera...like the HPX-170...this won't work. Not via HDV or AVCHD. Playout isn't as simple as it was with DV. There are far cheaper capture cards...Decklink Intensity Pro, Matrox MXO2 mini...but you need a MacPro for those (or with the MXO2 MIni, a laptop with an Express34 slot). An iMac is severely limited in what it can do.
    Sorry.
    #25 HDV external Monitor Viewing
Shane's Stock Answer #25 - HDV external Monitor Viewing
To view HDV on an external monitor in high definition you are going to need to purchase a capture card, like the ones Decklink (www.decklink.com) or AJA (www.aja.com) offer. They will both play out HDV in real time. The catch is that you cannot view this on a regular TV or NTSC monitor. Since this is HD, an HD monitor will be needed. HOWEVER, both cards are capable of down converting the signal so that it can be displayed on an SD monitor. This won't be color accurate
The real reason why you can't monitor HDV through a Firewire camera is because Firewire HDV cameras don't decode incoming HDV streams and route them to their outputs like DV cameras do.
Good options for you are the Matrox MXO2 mini...$450...coupled with an HDTV. Or a Matrox MXO (DVI connection) coupled with an Apple 23" display gets you good quality.
And there are the Decklink Intensity and Intensity PRO cards as well, and the AJA I/O Express...
You can, however, view HDV out via firewire as DV...lowering the resolution to that of DV, but still viewable. This is not full quality nor should it be used to judge the quality of your footage or used to color correct to. This is just a way to view the footage on a large monitor.
Here are some examples of some of the possibilities:
    - DV or HDV sequence output to an SDI signal on a third-party interface
    - An uncompressed NTSC or PAL sequence output to a DV FireWire output
    - An HDV sequence output to a DV FireWire output
Sequence and output formats must have compatible frame rates. For example,
sequences with a frame rate of 60, 30, or 24 fps can be output to a 30 fps device,
but not to a 25 or 50 fps device.

  • Drop Zone will not play video - only still frame

I have a generator template with drop zone, in and out.
When I select the video clip to use in the drop zone it shows as a still freeze frame - video does not play. Only the first frame displays.
This was a bug that Apple said is fixed in the last version... it is still a problem for me.
    Anyone know about this?

    Motion Template.
To quote FCPX 10.0.08 "Drop zones are no longer reset to the first frame of video after application restarts".... this is in the 'What's New' in the App store.
But if you use a drop zone in a generator template, FCPX only displays the first frame - no video. Many users reported this bug on the eearlier version. Some tried using a compound clip but this did not work for me. The bug is nto fixed.
I need to select a part of two different clips in the timeline on both sides of the template to ceate a transition - one ingoing and one outgoing.

  • Help - trouble importing Photoshop'd still frame back into iMovie

Can anyone let me know if I am missing something - I have saved a frame from iMovie HD footage and pulled into PS, edited the still, and pulled back into iMovie. The Photoshop'd still does not match in size the original footage. The saved frame imports into PS at 1920x1080 if that offers any info. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi jkennedytexas - for your info - don't have an answer - have just tested this (on iMovie 5 HD, as I don't have 6 with me at the moment): the frame imported to PS CS2 at 784x576, and was the same after editing it and returning it to iMovie. I assume you used File>Save Frame? What editing did you carry out in PS?

  • Importing video for use in FCP

I have never really ran into this problem before so I figured I would see if anyone else has.
A client brought in a DVD produced by someone else of his grandson playing football. I am supposed to go in and Identify his grandson before the snaps. This is all fine.
I am having a problem importing the DVD. I generally use Mpeg Streamclip, but for some reason when I drag the DVD into mpeg streamclip, the video becomes severely distorted and is unusable. Supposedly this footage was originally shot in avchd footage.
Is there something special I need to do to Mpeg streamclip? Or is there another way I should import this video? I guess if I have to I could just capture the DVD using my MOTU V3HD i/o, but if there is a simpler way I'd appreciate the info.
    Thanks in advance.

To convert dvd's into various file formats I use DVD Ripper by Aimersoft http://www.aimersoft.com/dvd-ripper-for-mac.html

  • Importing Video for Toast 9 BD HD

Gave up on iDVD HD and am using Toast 9 BD HD. Am trying to figure out how I was able to see my video camera once to import a video to my Mac. When I did see it, it kept asking to burn(?) to my CD burner. I use an external burner which isn't hooked up at the moment. Was hoping to plug & burn import, edit then hook up to burn a DVD HD. Cannot see my camera at all and have never seen the plug & burn button. Any ideas?
BTW Have rebooted a couple of times after the update to Toast 9.02

Changed settings in Easy Setup, which didn't work at first. Restarted the computer after changing the settings, which did work.
I'm sure I'll come up with some other questions, as this is my first time working in HD or with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Quality of images from this camera are pretty exceptional!

  • How do i import video from firewire?

I'm thinking of getting a Macbook Air for traveling where I can import photo's for editing and uploading and import video for editing.   It looks like the Macbook Air will run Aperature and Final Cut Pro X but the problem is, how do I import video from a Camcorder like the Canon GL2?   It is a firewire connection and the Macbook Air only has USB and Thunderbolt.
    Thanks... Gary

Sonnet is supposed to be creating a TB-to-FW800 adapter... their press-release said available Q2/2012.  No idea of the price, or its capabilities.

  • Importing pre-made menus- still frame or moving video?

I am new to DVD Studio Pro and I recently authored a DVD that required importing a pre-made menu. The file was a psd and as 640 X 480 in size and about 180 dpi. The menu showed up in my asset window as a Quicktime picture. My question is did DVD SPro somehow convert the still image menu into a moving video file? I ask this because of two reasons...1) the menu plays back as though it's "playing" -when you click the menu's play button, the menu looks for a split second as though it pauses in much the same way a moving video image would look when you "pause it. 2.) The menu does not appear sharp- the text is not crisp as you would expect a still frame to be.
Did I import the menu wrong? I imported it as an asset. I tried to import as a template but the file is "grey" in the import box and you cannot bring it in this way. Also why did it convert the psd (photoshop file) into a quicktime picture?
    Thanks!

Menus (even still menus) are moving video. DVDSP will encode them to MPEG2 for the duration of your menu's loop.
Try importing a still of 720x534 (square) pixels, not the size you used, for a 4:3 NTSC menu. DVDSP will have less scaling to do, and this might result in a sharper picture.

  • I can't import video frames to layers in Photoshop CS4

I just bought a Macbook Pro, OS X 10.8.4 and installed Photoshop CS4 on it, but when I select import video frames to layers and search for a video, they appear but I can't select any videos. I have the latest version of Quicktime and the videos play fine. I can still use photoshop with photos so it seems like it's just this one function that isn't working. It works on my sister's older Macbook pro though (she hasn't got Mountain Lion though, it's snow leopard OS X 10.6.8), and the only time it didn't work was when there wasn't enough space on the computer but I have over 670GB of available space.

How can I tell if I am using QT X or QT 7? Do you have any idea how I could fix this issue?
Edit: I downloaded QT 7 and changed it to my default player and restarted my computer. I don't know if this is what I was supposed to do, but the issue is still unresolved. Just wondering, why does it make a difference if it's QT 7 or X? I'm sorry, I really don't know much about these things as I am relatively new to photoshop

  • Still frame from video: PS Elements 9

I am new to PS, trying to get a still frame from a video. My camera uses a file  MP4, but PS says it does not accept that format.  How do I convert my MP4 videos so I can get some still pix from it?  I did the file>import>> frame for video>browze. It works with a sample video on my computer but not the video from my camera.  PLEASE HELP!  Thank you

One more thing---I'm working with PC: Windows 7 and only the PSE, not the premier version.

  • 16:9 Imported video does not fill frame in IMovie 09

I have imported video shot with a Panasonic HVX 400. The raw imported MP4s show up as full screen 16X9 videos when I view them in Quicktime, but as soon as I import them into IMovie they end up with a large black box around them, looking like they're trying to fit them into a 4:3 apsect ratio. I have no idea whats happening. Any suggestions?

I also successfully created a still frame to a new project I created for this purpose.
Move to a frame in your EVENT, control left-click and select "Add Still frame to project" from the pop-up menue. It will be added at the END of your selected project.
After that, I am still trying to find a way to save that still to iPhoto'09 as a photo.
