Import Video To Layers gone?

I have Photoshop CS4 Extended and I recently transfered to a new PC and redownloaded it, I installed all updates. I recently went to go transfer a .mov file into layers via Import Vide to Layers in File -> Import to see that it is gone. How do I fix/get it back? I run 64-bit Windows 7 by the way.

As Zeno said. QT is 32bit and only works in the 32bit version of PS Extended.

  • "Program error" when I try to import video as layers - Photoshop CC

I am running Photoshop CC trial version and am unable to import a video as layers. I seem to be able to do eveything else, just not this.
I have Quicktime7 running as well, but that hasn't made a difference. I keep getting the message: "Could not complete your request because of a program error".
    Can anyone help me?

I'm having the exact same problem, using a macbook pro retina 10.9.
Whenever I try to select 'Video frames to layers', a window immediately pops up and says 'Could not complete your request because of a program error.' I assume it must be a bug that needs to be fixed? It won't let me choose a video file at all.
I hope there is a way to fix this.

  • CC Trial version won't import video as layers - "Could not complete your request because..."

I am trying to import a video into Ps CC trial version to make a gif.
Every time I click file > import > video frames to layers, I get the error message "Could not complete your request because of a program error." This is before the window to choose what video I want to import even opens. I have not tweaked the preferences and have only had the program on this computer for a day.
The same thing happens when I open the Timeline view and try to add the video through "Add Media" on there.
I've rebooted several times, updated my operating system, etc etc. Nothing seems to work.
Running OS X 10.9.1, i7 processor (which is 64 bit) on a 2013 MacBook Air.
    Any ideas?

It was already disabled when I checked. I enabled it and tried again, still didn't work. Anything else that might be wrong? i'm getting desperate lol

  • CS5 Extended Crashing Repeadtedly when Importing Video to Layers

Hi, I would really apprechiate some help in this matter. I have looked just about everywhere for an answer but, alas I cannot seem to find one. Every time I try to Import Video File to Layers my PS crashes instantaneously. It's so odd. I switched over to make gifs better and I can make them with separate pictures but that is a hassle. They only time my PS crashes is when I try to import the video. I get to choose the file and right before I click open it crashes every single time.
I am using a Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard.

  • Odd problems while trying to Import video to layers and "a program error"

    Hi there,
I'm having problems importing video (tried .avi and .mp4) to layers on my Photoshop CS5, using laptop with Windows 8.
First of all, I cannot see the buttons "pause/play" and so I also cannot choose the part I'd like to import to layers. It shows as a black row as seen below:
And this is the only video (.mp4) I can see the "review" video, also can blindly press the buttons where the black row is, which is basically impossible to get anything done.
With my .avi videos (which work perfectly with my friend) it shows absolutely nothing:
I tried to go with pressing OK anyway, and this is what I saw next:
I had installed http://support.apple.com/kb/DL762 QuickTime 7.6 for Windows, so it shouldn't be the issue?
I restarted my computer and my Photoshop and it didn't seem to make any difference.

Sorry, must double post now! I really need the help. I've tried to find it myself around here, found a thread with someone having the exact same problem, but so far no good

  • Import Video To Layers: no slider on window

I'm trying to import part of a .mpg file using Import Video Frames To Layers. I only want a very small part of the clip but the slider in the import window appears to be missing. I need this to work, does anyone have a (re)solution please. This functioned fine in all previous versions of PS I've used. I need this functionality in order to work.
    Screenshot attached.
    Windows XP Pro
    Adobe CS4 Extended

    Mylenium,
I appreciate your response, but I don't think it's relevant to my setup.
    1) I do not have the 64 bit version of XP pro.
    2) As stated in my post, this worked fine in previous versions, under the same OS, on the same system.
    3) .mpg files (and in fact all quicktime files) work fine in my browser (screenshot attached)
As I said, I do appreciate your response, but it hasn't helped me. I do hope there's a resolution because otherwise, taken along with PS11's inability to import .gifs while preserving the individual frame timings, photoshop is becoming less and less useful for large aspects of my work. That's a regrettable trend, particularly given that this is all stuff that worked fine for me before, and particularly given the price of the software.
    All the best,

  • Importing video frames to layers PSCS3, vista

hi, i'm trying to import video to layers by going >file>import>video frames to layers... then selecting my avi file, an options box then appears but the preview area is blank and when i look in my layers window all the layers (500) are blank!!
any help would be much appreciated and thanks in advance,

Since AVI is just a "wrapper," it can contain one of many different CODECs. To play a particular AVI, the system will need the correct one. A freeware program, G-Spot will do several things for you: tell you what the CODEC (and a lot of other specs.) is, whether your system has it, and do a render & play of the file to test other aspects of it on your system. If you do not have a particular CODEC, G-Spot will tell you exactly which one is needed. Hit the 'net and Google for that one - download and install. Be a bit shy of "CODEC packs," as most have a ton of garbage in them, and will often ruin existing CODEC installations on the system. Get just what you need.
Many CODECs are available free on the Internet. Others will require a licensing fee.

  • How to import video frames as layers in Photoshop?

How to import video as layers in PhotoshopCS3. When I press "Import Video Frames To Layers", an error message pops up: Could not complete the Video Frames to Layers command because the QuickTime version 7.1 or later is required." I've already installed and updated QuickTime Player, but this message persists. I'm currently running QuickTime version 7.7.5. Thank you for your help.

Thank you R_Kelky for your reply.
I'm running Windows 8.1. I do see the QuickTimeGlue.dll file as you stated.
I have actually found a solution to my question. Since QuickTime 7.7.5 might be too new, I tried installing QuickTime 7.1 and the message went away. But now I run into a new problem: only .avi and a few .mov files can be uploaded correctly. When I try to upload other common video formats like .mp4, .m4v, etc, then the layers just come out as black, white, and sometimes green layers. The preview window where I drag the range length of video I want to import as layers is also blank as black, white, or sometimes green. You have any ideas what's causing this? At times, I cant even see the preview, I just get a new error message: "Could not complete the Video Frames to Layers command because the file name was not valid."
    Thank you for your help.

  • I can't import video frames to layers in Photoshop CS4

I just bought a Macbook Pro, OS X 10.8.4 and installed Photoshop CS4 on it, but when I select import video frames to layers and search for a video, they appear but I can't select any videos. I have the latest version of Quicktime and the videos play fine. I can still use photoshop with photos so it seems like it's just this one function that isn't working. It works on my sister's older Macbook pro though (she hasn't got Mountain Lion though, it's snow leopard OS X 10.6.8), and the only time it didn't work was when there wasn't enough space on the computer but I have over 670GB of available space.

How can I tell if I am using QT X or QT 7? Do you have any idea how I could fix this issue?
Edit: I downloaded QT 7 and changed it to my default player and restarted my computer. I don't know if this is what I was supposed to do, but the issue is still unresolved. Just wondering, why does it make a difference if it's QT 7 or X? I'm sorry, I really don't know much about these things as I am relatively new to photoshop

  • Photoshop CS3 crashes when importing video frames to layers.

This is perhaps not the correct place to post this, but I am new to the forums, as you can see.
I saw that there was a post about this sometime last year, and I tried all the methods offered to fix the problem, but none helped.
Each time I make an attempt to import video frames to layers, I get as far as the "select range to import" screen, and then when I select the range and click ok, it says "Adobe Photoshop has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly." And then it closes.
My operating system is Windows XP, the photoshop type I use is CS3 as I mentioned before, and I have installed Quicktime 7.3.5.
I checked one of the files I tried to use with the Mediainfo program as suggested, and got the following:
    Format: MPEG-4
    Format profile: Quicktime
    Codec ID: qt
    File size: 176 MiB
    Duration: 18mn 33s
Overall bit rate: 1 327 Kbps
    Writing application: Lavf53.24.2
Hopefully this is enough information for someone out there to help me, because I haven't the slightest idea how to fix it. Thank you in advance.

Convert the file in ffmpeg/ MPEGStreamclip or another tool or export it from Quicktime Pro using anotehr CoDec. PS just sucks at dealing with these compressed files and using such an old version doesn't help with contemporary digital video from a camera...
