Import webpage back into iWeb ?

Hi guys, I recently upgraded to the new MacBook Pro 15 and need to import
my webpage into iWeb ? it was created on iWeb '09, How can I do it ?

I have the same problem, after installing OS X 10.5. Where did iWeb go? Is it not included in Leopard? After the install I could not find the iWeb anymore. I have my site up on .mac and I have them in iDisk but I can not get them back to iWeb. Where is the files saved for the iWeb, there must be a way to get them back no??? Lost all website files from my iWeb program. Possible I updated a newer non compatible iWeb version? At any rate........have website files back on my desktop and have no idea how to get them back into iWeb so I can modify. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You can't. iWeb has no import capability. Search your hard drive for a file named Domian.sites2. It normally resides in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. If you use Time Machine you can go back in it to find the latest copy of that file.
However,
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If you can't find it you'll have to start a new website. You can open the files from the website in your browser and copy/drag photos from the existing website pages into a new or blank iWeb page. Text should be selected and copied and then pastes into the new webpage. No need to add a text box first.

Can you export a published iweb website back into iweb?

I have created my own iweb website which I uploaded to my own domain using transmit. Since creating the page, I had a had drive die on me that I can't access and don't have my site in iweb to edit as I have resorted to a back up made just before I made the site. So I want to know if I can access the site from Transmit and put it back into iweb for editing the site?
This is my first site I have made entirely on my own and have been learning as I go. If I can't access the site as I made it, I may try accessing the files from Transmit one by one to re-make the pages.
Any help on this will me very much appreciated.

Sure, you could syncronize in the opposite direction to get your html files and images, etc back on your Mac. But you will have to drag and drop, copy and paste to get that content back into iWeb.
Your iWeb data is stored, not in your actual html files, but in a file called Domain.sites which is stored in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. If you want to work on your site on another computer, copy this file to a thumb drive to move it around.
You should backup this file whenever you make big changes to your site, because if it gets lost or damaged, you will have to start all over. Sadly, many many people learn this the hard way. Unfortunately, looks like you have too.
I have an Automator app on my site that will help you backup your Domain file(s). Click here to download it or visit http://iweb.varkgirl.com for more info. The app will make a .zip file of your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and save it to a location of your choosing.
Then check out Mozy for an online place to store your backups - I just found this and it seems great. They just recently released a Mac friendly version of their app - it automates the upload and encryption. You select the files you want to backup and it does the rest. You can set it to upload automatically after so many minutes of inactivity or once a day. It does it all in the background so you don't have to worry about it! 2GB of storage are free - plenty of room for most people's iWeb Domain.sites backups!

Is it possible to get published to folder files back into iweb?

I have created a website in iweb and published it to a folder and to my .mac account. I have recently closed down my .mac account so I could reopen one with my new business name. In the meantime I have upgraded to Leopard which deleted my iweb application.I have got another copy of iweb but now when I open iweb it does not automatically open my website up. Does anyone know if it is possible to open my old website which I have Published to a folder in iweb so I can publish it to my new .mac site?
If i click on the html files in the folder it runs like the website but from that folder only. All the work is there I just can't find out how to get it back on the net.
Please help so I don't have to spend weeks re entering all the files back into iweb one by one!

You can upload your website files by drag and drop to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites to get your website up and running.
To be able to publish changes you will have to do a search for the original domain.sites2 file and drop this into Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb.
If you can't find it, then rebuilding is your only option. This is frustrating but doesn't take too long if you copy and paste all your text, images etc from the published files to your new iWeb pages.

Download My Deleted Site Back Into iWeb from .Mac?

I accidentally deleted my website from my computer but it's hosted on .Mac, is there a way to download it back into iWeb? That would be too easy....

If you're managing multiple sites you might consider iWebSites. I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want. I don't open iWeb directly but always thru iWebSites.

Importing Templates/Themes into iWeb

How do I go about importing templates/themes into iWeb? I have a few I downloaded but I'm at a loss as to how to include them in iWeb so that I can use them. Thanks for the info!

Just any theme download from a site is not enough. The 3rd party themes must be designed specifically for iWeb and, as such, should have an installer included.
Otherwise, start with either the white, black, or formal themes and use graphic files from those themes to create a custom design.

I've published four different iWeb sites using iWeb but my iWeb software only shows one of them. How do I bring the others back into iWeb so I can publish them to a folder for transferring to WordPress?

You need to find the files for the other sites to open them in iWeb. Try a Spotlight search for Domain (or Domain.sites2 if you have file extensions turned on in Finder prefs).

How to import my webpage back 2 iweb

just got a new mac and made the mistake of first making my new webpage THEN transporting old mac info to new mac. This little operation made all my Iweb files on new mac go bye bye. Luckily i could retrieve them from my webpage and download them to my mac into a folder EXACTLY as I first did from Iweb when asked to publich in a folder. Now the QUESTION is; how do I open this folder in Iweb so i can edit my page? Theres doesnt seem to be an "open folder" button anywhere. but is there other means to this problem???

Hi
The only way to get your pages to iWeb is to open that file:
HomeFolder/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites2
Where iWeb stores its files. If you still have the old Mac with your stuff on it then grab your old domain.sites2 and put it on your new computer in the same location. If you don't have that file anymore and don't have a backup of it but you have your actual pages in html same as you see when you browse on your page in the internet then there's no way to get them back in iWeb.
The only way would then be to copy and paste your content of the pages on the server to new pages in iWeb.
Frustrating I know...

Import mp3 podcast into iweb?

I exported my m4a podcast from garageband to iweb, and it worked flawlessly. Unfortunately, not everyone could hear the podcast on their phones. I converted the m4a file to mp3 using itunes, but now don't know how to get it back to garageband, so I can export it back to iweb. Do you know of another way I can import a mp3 podcast into iweb?

Thank you for the prompt reply - I shall now go into a darkened studio and scream for a short while. I think that iWebsites overwrote the Domain file with a page I was trying to get rid of that is stuck on My Pages on my .Mac homepage, so everything else disappeared for ever. I have been trying to copy and paste from the folder I have into iWeb but it ain't going to work, I suspect. No alternative but to start from scratch, just using the folder as a design reference. Presumably website software such as Softpress' Freeway can import from an existing folder?

Importing different templates into iweb

I asked this question awhile back and it was suggested I go to the 11mystics website to manually add the template into iweb. Well I don't have the type of template that is described on this site. I have a free one I found on www.templatebox.com
It has fonts, html, jped and psd folders. Is is possible to use this type of template to import into iweb.

Importing Flash Animations Into iWeb...

I noticed that in the few days I have had the privilege of using iWeb, I have noticed that Flash animations that I have created only show up as links on the page, and not actual Flash animations (meaning, when wanting to show the Flash animations on a website, they only show up as a small link, and don't automatically run on the website....
So, my question is this: Does iWeb support Flash animations? If so, how do you import them into iWeb without them simply showing up as links? Thanks in advance for your swift response....

You CAN add a Keynote presentation into iWeb (exported as a QuickTime movie), you just have to be aware of some minor issues. One of the issues you'll run into you can see on this page.

Depending on the speed of your connection, if it starts playing early, it will do the first slide over and over until the full thing has been downloaded. Give it a try and post back here or in the Keynote discussions if you have any problems.
