Import Wizard Question

Hi
We are planing to migrate from R1 to R2 and plan to use the Import Wizard for the migration.
I notice that a new ID number is assigned to the imported objects in R2.  We have some custom processes in place that key off of the R1 ID and would like to keep the R1 ID within R2 if possible.
When I say "ID number" I'm referring to the number in bold (2055).
frs://Input/a_007/008/000/2055/~ce143854e748aa220.rpt
Is it possible to import the object and retain the R1 ID number?
Thanks.

Also to note when you migrate via import wizard your si_id will always change as you stated whether migrating versions or from different environments. If you have objects that are referencing the si_id you should change that to the cuid. For instance if you plan to set up multiple environments and migrate data with the import wizard from DEV to Prod, this will always change the si_id. Therefore if you change these types of reports to key off the cuid then this will not be an issue. I'd need to know more specifics of how you are referencing the si_id to explain in more detail.

Tim

  • Quick question about import wizard

I logged into XI 3.1 Import Wizard with my AD user id (member of Administrator group), it is not giving me an option to imports users and groups. Is that only Administrator account can import users and groups?.
Source system is XI R2 SP3 and destination is XI 3.1 SP3.
    Thanks,
    Hari

Yes, I have admin previllages in both source and destination environment. I am using XI 3.1 Import Wizard, when I log into the source system with my AD ID it gives a message saying "you have logged on as a user that is not the system administrator".
When I go to the 'Select objects to import' screen it is not giving the option to check Users/groups.
    Thanks,

  • Import Wizard an InfoView question

    Hi,
I used Import Wizard imported everything but server group from BOE XI to BOE XI 3.0. When I checked in InfoView, all of the published reports were imported but not the history. Does this mean that I have to reschedule everything? Did I miss anything?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Cindy

    Hi Cindy,
There is an option for "Import all instances of each selected object" in Folder and Objects screen in Import Wizard, and you need to check it ON to bring all historical instances of the objects you are importing. This option is set to OFF by default.

  • Error while importing text file to Power Pivot via Table Import Wizard

    Hello there,
I'm a rookie at handling Excel to be honest. I've been trying to import a .txt file to Excel (it contains around 14 million rows of information) but Excel won't let me since it can only handle around 1 million rows per sheet (too troublesome to do such thing
14 times in 14 different sheets). Then I googled that Power Pivot let me handle around 100 million rows in a Pivot.
I'm trying to import this .txt file to Power Pivot by doing the following:
Home tab > From Text > File Path (insert .txt location here) > Finish
After that it shows the Table Import Wizard retrieving the rows from the .txt file. Problem is... at the end of the import (once it hits row 14,000,000 or so) it shows an error. It states the following:
"Memory error: Allocation failure : Not enough storage is available to process this command. .
The current operation was cancelled because another operation in the transaction failed."
Please note that the size of the .txt file is 900 MB.
Another thing is that, when I select the .txt file from its location at the File Path section, the "preview" field only shows 50 rows, not all of them. Is that okay to happen?
Is it because the size of the .txt file is too big?
Please let me know if you need more info in regards to this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi AdiUser,
Only showing 50 rows for the preview is normal behaviour. Based on what you've described, it sounds like Power Pivot is running out of memory when you are loading this .txt file. Are you running the 32 bit or 64 bit version of Excel. Also, if you are running
the 64 bit version how much RAM is available?
If you're running the 32 bit version then the available RAM for Power Pivot is less than 1 GB even if the system has more than this installed. You can address this by installing the 64 bit version. If you're running the 64 bit version then it may be
that you don't have enough RAM to accommodate this amount of data and you may consider upgrading the RAM. Alternatively, you could try and reduce the size of the table in memory by using the preview screen to remove any columns that are not of use. This
is especially important if there are any column with a high number of unique values that aren't actually needed in the model. In addition to removing columns altogether, you could try filtering the data so that only a subset of the rows are imported.
This can also be done from the preview screen.

    Michael Amadi

  • Issue with IMPORT WIZARD xi 3.1 SP2

    Hello experts,
When i am trying to import universes from DEV to QA in BO xi 3.1 SP2 , It doest prompted me any option to select a specific universe to be imported. It askes me to select user groups, but my question is how can io select a perticular object to import from DEV to QA
Environment: BO XI 3.1 SP2, SAP BW 3.5
    Thanks
    Prashanth

    Hi,
when the Import Wizard is started you are prompted to identify which kind of objects you want to import. If you just want to transfer universes just uncheck all other objects. Otherwise the Import Woizard will require in the next steps additional information on what are the contents that you want to import. Assuming you have kept the selection to import users then you will be first asked which users to import. Some steps later the IW will prompt you to check the universes you want to transfer.
I would suggest to take a look at the IW guide. http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/xi3-1_bip_importwiz_en.pdf

  • Data Import Wizard from Excel on DATE column

I have exported data to a csv in Oracle SQL Developer and one of the columns are of an Oracle Date datatype. In opening up Excel I see the Date column represented as 15-MAY-01 12.00.00.000000000 AM.
I am now going through the Data Import Wizard to create a new table and import the data. When I get to Step 3 of 4 it reads the data and assigns it a VARCHAR2. I want the column to be Date or Timestamp. In this case I choose timestamp and for format entered DD-MON-YY hh.mi.ss.fffffffff AM.
When I go to Step 4 of 4 to and click the Verify button I get:
"Verifying if the Date columns have date formats" Date columns DOT_LOGN_EFDT, have invalid or null date formats.
I am using Oracle SQL Developer 2.1.0.63 Build 63.73.
Any idea what I put in the format window to read the excel value of 15-MAY-01 12.00.00.000000000 AM correctly?

I am not able to reproduce your problem. When I export a date column, I do not get the time portion. This is the expected behavior. When re-importing the date, I therefore have no problem. I have tried manipulating the tools->preferences->database->nls->date format mask to include the time (and fractional seconds), but export still only exports the date portion. The fractional seconds is not valid for a date field, which explains the import error you are getting. The question remains as to why the exported data has the time. Can you describe your exact steps for doing the export?

  • Import Wizard vs LCM for Migration of BO from one server to another

    Hi Experts,
Can anyone highlight the differences between Import Wizard and LCM (in terms of migrating/deploying BO from one server to another)?
We are currently using BO XI 3.0, which does not support LCM. I'd like to know if LCM has enough advantages to justify an upgrade to BO XI 3.1.
    Any advice is much appreciated.
    Linda

    Hi Tim,
Thanks a lot for your reply. May I have a follow-up question?
For my client, the following deployment activities are necessary:
    1) From Development server, to one Test server containing 2 separate sets of objects - one set for SIT, the other set for UAT.
Object (Connections, Universes, Webi reports) names in Test server will be different from those in Development Server due to the existence of 2 sets of objects on the same server.
       a) For SIT: Universe A on Development server -> Universe SA on Test server
       b) For UAT: Universe A on development server -> Universe UA on Test server
    2) From Development server, to Training server.
Same object names will be used in Training server.
E.g. Universe A in Development server copied to Universe A in Training Server
    3) From Development server, to Production server
Same object names used in Production server.
From the above, there will be 4 rounds of deployment. Is Import Wizard sufficient? Or is LCM still the better option?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

  • Import wizard -Does the connection parameter gets changed to prod query

    Hello all,
we are planning to use import wizard and move all the stuff from BOBJ dev to Bobj QA. All the universes created are based on SAP BI query.
When using the txport wizard we are basically doing the Select all and Importing all the options given by system. My question is - Would the universe start pointing towards queries that we have already transported from BW dev to BW qa (we are using sap authentication)?
Also when we select all will the user group, client created access levels and root/public folder all get transported?
We are getting a warning message "You have chosen to import server groups from source environment" - Server groups are imported w/o member services. After importing is complete you will have to manually add the desired server to the imported server groups. Failure to do so will render the server groups invalid, which will prevent any reports dependent on the server group from running succesfully......should we not import server groups?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Hi Stratos,
Finally we were able to import our universes and reports. So once the import is done, do I need to open the designer under my QA authentication and then go to the parameters and edit the connection to point to BWQ server and system? Once we do the change save universe and export it to the BOBJ QA CMS?
    Let me know.Thanks in advance

  • LabView 2010 - CVI Driver Import Wizard

I have previously downloaded and used the driver import wizard to create LabView VIs from a CVI driver. Specifically with Labview 8.x and 2009.
However the latest version of the wizard (v1.3) will not install with LabView 2010 and there isn't a newer one to download w- So the question is, does anyone know if there is an intention to update this wizard so I can use it with LV 2010 ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I am having the same problem. Please let me know if this has been resolved yet.
I tried copying the following directories to labview 2010:
    from     C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\resource\CVIFpConv
    to          C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\resource\CVIFpConv
    and
    from     C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\project\_DriverCtoLV
    to         C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\project\_DriverCtoLV
and the wizard loads and runs until I specify a .fp file and then I get the error in the jpeg attached. When I try to open the block diagram (FC_RFL_Initialize.vi), it says you need a password to view it, so that stops my debugging.

  • Import wizard between domains

    Hi
    I have a quick question:
We have a customerr who wants to use one domain for testing their BO universes (they want us to build the reports, universes etc. in our test environment at our location). But they of course wants their production system to be located at their location within their domain.
In this scenario we will have BO dev and test in one domain and and production in another domain.
    My question will be:
Is it possible to use BO import wizard to run imports from one domain to another?
    Thanks

If you are atalking AD domains, as long as the users can login to BO (such as when the domains are in the same forest) then there shouldn't be any issues. The only issues would occur if the users cannot access BO (since domain doesn't matter to BO)
If you were referring to old 6.5 document domains then I'm not sure. Let me know and I'll move this post to our legacy app section.
    Regards,
    Tim

CA Forum: Migration to XI R2
Which input is used by the Import Wizard to migrate Personal - and Inbox documents from 6.5 to BOXIR2?
We have noticed that for some users, not all the Personal documents are migrated from 6.5 to BOXIR2.  We have done a test on a Non-PRD environment.  In PRD we have to migrate +80.000 documents for +10.000 users.  I'm trying to find out why, to make an impact analysis.
    Does the Import Wizard use: - only the 00000xyz.wid-files? - Profile.txt? - Index.dat? - Index? - Attribut.txt? - the Repository?
Does anyone recommend to copy the filestore on the server where the Import Wizard is installed?  When I copy the filestore to a separate location, can the Impot Wizard make the link with the repository (if needed)?

    Post Author: Geert
CA Forum: Migration to XI R2
    - We have had a consultant to do an assessment of our environment.  He's a former BO-employee and has the best experience I have ever seen.  So, we are not operating on our own.
    - We use BO since 1994 and BO is a standard reporting tool at our site.  We have +5000 user who use BusinessObjects Full Client, who have created 50.000 documents on the Network.  This is on average 10 docs per person.  We have +5000 users who use Webi since 2005.  They have created 40.000 docs in 3 years.  So, this makes on average 8 documents per user over a period of 3 years.  I think this is not too much...  With a lot of users, you get a lot of documents
    - If we do a cleanup (Delete) for the personal documents in Webi, the content of the 'index.dat' and the 'Attribut.txt' is not in sync with the actual files in the storage-directory.  How can we solve this?  Can a cleanup create a possible source of problems with the Import Wizard?  To avoid this,we choose to migrate all the documents.  Doing this, we ' follow' the rules of BO and can contact BOSupport in case of problems.  We have allready introduced # cases for specific problems.  The only thing we are missing is the 'general rules' the Import Wizard uses for the migration.
    - We have 624 universes.  The universes point for 75% to an ODS-layer which covers 80% of the operational systems.  A lot of 'operational reporting' is done in BO.  We use the SDK of Designer to create universes.  This enables us to create a universe of +/-500 -1000 objects in, on average, 3 days.
-> I come back to my question: does anyone have any idea what the Import Wizard needs to migrate Personal Documents from Webi 6.5 to BOXI?

  • Import Excel with Import Wizard / Problem during the import of "Actual Work" column

    Hello,
I am trying to import an Excel File (*.xlsx) to Project Server 2013 through Project Professional 2013 and Import Wizard.
I am having trouble when I try to include the column "Actual Work". After selecting the columnsmapping I am getting a strange error message saying that "The File cannot be oppened","Make sure, that the Filename and Path is right"
and some other strange messages concerning compatibility, although I am using the same File, which works perfectly without the "Actual Work" column.
I have tried as well with csv and the outcome was the same.
    Any help is welcome!
    Thank you in advance,

  • How do I use "LabVIEW dll import wizard" to import NETAPI32.dll

I am trying to use the LabVIEW dll import wizard for the first time. I am not very familiar in C-coding so this might be a good help instead of configuring CallLibraryFunction nodes myself.
I want to import NETAPI.dll. I am interested in several functions in that dll, but my main priority is the funtion NetUserGetInfo(). On MSDN I have found that the header file for the mentioned function should be: lmaccess.h (include lm.h).
    My problem is this:
The shared library contains 317 function(s). But no function is found and recognized in the header file. The following function(s) cannot be wrapped. If you want to import these functions, please review the warning messages next to the functions below. You will need to fix the problems before you can continue with the wizard.
The function cannot be imported into LabVIEW. This might be caused by one of the following problems:
The function is not declared in the header file but is exported in the library.
Check the header file to make sure it contains declarations of the function.
Undefined symbols can prevent the wizard from recognizing functions and parameters. To correct this problem, check the header file to determine if you must add predefined symbols. Click the Back button to return to the previous page of the wizard to add a predefined symbol (for example, "NIAPI_stdcall = __stdcall" or "NIAPIDefined = 1").
