Import WMA into CS5.5

I know it has been removed in CS5.5 but is there any way to get it back?
I have some old wma audio clips which I'm forced to use.
It's ok to remove export to wma ability but reading support for many different formats is always good to have.
Is there some plugin to read wma in CS5.5 or a way to copy/paste wma import support files from Audition 3?

Mitch, you are quite mistaken about that.  Audition 3 will save to whatever you last used, and there is no format default for sessions.  In fact, unless you're using wma lossless, saving session audio as wma could be disastrous because it adds noises and distortions typical of lossy codecs.  So stick with uncompressed wavs!
So far as opening AA3 sessions, you can do that by saving the session as .xml from AA3, then opening that in AA4/CS5.5.  However, track effects are not ported.
As to that, and why all this is the way it is, you ought to grab a cold one, sit back and get comfy, and read through some of the major threads posted here recently.  Those answers and far more are right here at your fingertips.

  • Error when importing file into CS5

When I tried to import an Illustrator CS5 file into Flash CS5, I got an error from Windows saying that the program "stopped working" and it was searching for solutions to the problem. When it found no solutions, it said that it had to close the program. I've tried three times now and the same thing keeps happening. Has anyone else encountered this and, if so, do you know how to fix it? Please let me know. Thanks!

    Hi there,
I can reproduce the crash. It's seems to be related to Importing all layers to Stage, and selecting the "Place objects at original position" option. All other combinations seem to not crash, so at least it helps isolate what's happening and provides an option for you to import your artwork and continue with your site. I will file a bug and send this to the correct folks for evaluation - I'm not too sure what the conflict is between the AI file and Flash (it's not due to not having AI installed).
    Thanks for posting it!

  • Error when importing audio into CS5.5

I saw that some others had asked this question, but the solutions did not work for me.  I am using an Actionscript 3 file (an out of the box template purchased online) and cannot get any audio to import into the .fla file.  The audio files are in .mp3 format and were edited in Audition.  I tried renaming the files and when that didn't work I tried exporting them to .wav format.  Despite that, I am still getting error messages that the file could not be imported.  I also tried closing out of all my Adobe apps and re-opening only Flash, but that didn't work either.  Any solutions?

Thank you so much! That actually worked! I had figured out a work around of cutting and pasting into new file via Audacity and exporting (this wouldn't work via Audition), but I'll be glad to be able to use Audition again.

  • Importing footage into cs5 trial

I have just tried to import footage captured from my cannon xha1 (the format is mpeg) but after effects says it is a unknown format.
any ideas anyone, i used premier and hdvsplit to capture the footage.
hope somone can help, as ive got 30 days to play with this

How raw your footage is depends very much on how it's captures. Take any HDV camera. It captures in HDV format, usually with an MPEG-based codec at a color resolution of 4:1:1. Which sucks. This rather educational piece explains why. However, some cameras have outputs that let you send live signal from the camera without having it go through the HDV compression. This allows you to capture using an AJA, Kona, or Matrox capture hardware and get it at 4:2:2 or even 4:4:4. IDEAL for chroma key work or any sort of anything that you want to look good.
If your camera records video onto a CF card, internal hard drive, or any other form of digital media and you merely move the files onto your computer, that's pretty raw as far as camera files go.
If you capture from an HDV tape, it gets a little trickier.
Anyway, suffice to say that, if you have your footage working fine in your editing program output it to AE in a compositing-friendly format. Quicktime with the PNG codec (NOT a PNG image sequence) seems to be rather popular these days.

  • Trouble getting audio files when importing R3D files into CS5.5 Prem Pro

Importing R3D files into Premiere Pro CS5.5 works for Video but the audio doesn't convert properly.   There is an audio file included in the R3D file that PP can see but it just has a few spikes.
This same file played in REDcine-X plays the video/audio just fine.   Is there some audio setting in Premiere Pro that I should be setting?
Oddly enough if I use REDcine-X to output a RED Trim file and then import it into PP, the audio file is shown separately and is imported correctly.   This of course involves a file conversion step in the workflow and a step that we are hoping to avoid.

In order to import all kinds of  r3d, we had better convert it to adobe more compaitble video format like dv, mpeg, avi
You may refer to the following step by step guide on how to convert .r3d movies at Convert R3D to ProRes, MOV, AVI, MP4, WMV, 3GP, MKV
    The guide applies to:
Convert R3D to ProRes 4444, 422, 422 (HQ), 422 (LT), and 422 (Proxy) to fast import any version of Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Pro X.
Convert R3D to MOV, MP4 to import R3D to iMovie for easy editing or to play R3D in QuickTime, iTunes, iPad, iPod, iPhone, Apple TV.
Convert R3D to AVI, WMV, MPG to edit R3D in Avid, Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, Windows Movie Maker or play R3D in Windows Media player, Xbox 360, Microsoft Surface.

  • Problem importing Premier Pro CS4 files into CS5

I have loaded Premier Pro CS5 onto a spanking new 64 bit machine.  When I import a CS4 project file into CS5, it asks me to locate the raw video files but nothing else.  All titles with graphics in them are without the graphics. The text is OK.  The graphics have disappeared.  How do I import a project so the titles are complete and don't have to be rebuilt?  .

Can you please give your system specs?
In particular, how many physical HDD you have as well as memory. OS, CPU etc.
Also - what are the scratch disc settings in Premiere?
Finally - what is the video type - SD? HD?
Please give as many details as possible as it sounds like your system is going into overdrive.

  • Import menu from CS4 into CS5 ?

    Hi
I made a project and saved in CS4. In that project  I made a menu and saved as a set in the library.
Now I opened the project in CS5 but cannot find the menu set I made in CS4.
How can I import the menu set  from CS4 into CS5?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Menu saved location is different for CS4 and CS5.
You can save the menu as menu file or menu template from
Menu -> Save menu as file or save menu as template.
    Or
you can copy you menu set from CS4 to CS5.
Below is the location where menu set saved -
    Win -
    C:\Users\<userName>\Appdata\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Encore\4.0\Library\<setName>\<FileName>
    copy this file to
    C:\Users\<userName>\Appdata\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Encore\5.0\Library\<setName>\<FileName>
    Mac
    /Users/<UserName>/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Adobe Encore/4.0/Library/<setName>/<FileName>
    copy this file to

You can do it on iTunes Windows or get a converter such as EasyWMA - www.easywma.com.

  • Import DW CS4 Personal Dictionary into CS5

Adobe tech support told me this cannot be done. My CS4 personal dictionary in a *.tlx file, contains hundreds of words I added during spell checking. Anyone have any idea to import these into DW CS5? Thanks.

If your presets have the .vpr extension, they are from PPro2 or earlier.
Encoding presets created in CS4 (either AME or Pr) has the .epr extension.
They are located in these two folders:
    C:\Users\*yourusername*\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\4.0\Presets
    C:\Users\*yourusername*\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Pro\4.0\Presets
Unlike CS4, CS5 uses a single location for the encoding presets:
    C:\Users\*yourusername*\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\AME\5.0\Presets
Copy your presets created with CS4 (both AME and Pr) to the CS5 folder.
If I recall correctly, I had to re-create my .vpr presets from PPro2 to
.epr presets when I made the switch to CS4.

  • HT1347 I am not able to import wma files into library.

I have the macbook pro and itunes. when i add files from my harddrive -wma files , there is no change in the screen- nothing gets added to the library. Mp3 gets added. My import settings for cd are set in convert to aac files. I am not copying files added to ipod again to storage. I am using my hard drive as the location for itunes media files .

iTunes for Windows can import unprotected WMA files but iTunes for Mac cannot import WMA files of any type.
The following is one example of a tool to convert WMA to AAC on a Mac.

  • Import Premiere Pro CS5.5 Project into FCPX?

It's hard to hunt down ideas online, but if the new FCP update is good there may soon be a lot of people trying.
The only way I could figure out to do it was to export FCP XML from PPCS5.5, import that into FCP7, then use 7toX to get it from FCP7 to FCPX.  I just can't get it to work the way it's supposed to.
My PPCS5.5 project is a monster, which probably doesn't help.  PP lets me export it just fine, but when I try to import what it exports into FCP7, I get a bunch of "'looking for movie in file' X" messages, then FCP7 crashes.  If I click to search for a file it says it wants, that file is always for some reason grayed out and unselectable, arg.
Anyone have any ideas that maybe eliminate the FCP7 middleman?
    Thanks...

you will need a middle man. At least until PPRO is capable of exporting to FCPx XML.
My middleman is called Resolve Light from BlackMagicDesign. It is FREE to download and iin my experience it converts beautifully from PPRO XML to FCPX XML.
There you will import the PPRO XML and export it as FCPX XML.

  • How can I get the old CS3 pixel aspects into CS5

    Hello,
i'm trying to get the old cs3 pixel aspect ratio into cs5. I don't need the hyper-correct- BBC 1.4587 for DV widescreen which leads to black bars left and right if I import HD footage into a SD widescreen timeline. Or if I export a HD timeline to Encore and downconvert to a SD PAL DVD - black bars...
I have asked the adobe support, and they told me to change the Interpretation Rules.txt. But they have no further knowledge about these entries.
For AfterEffect I found this solution: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3016005#3016005
But I need it also for Premiere and Encore. Photoshop will be fine, but this is no must.
What I Have tried so far:
    - changing the interpretation rules.txt from ... 768/702... to ..768/720  -> doesn't change anything
    - I copiued the whole interpretation rules.txt from Premiere CS3  -> doesn't change anything
    - I deleted the interpretatio rules.txt and reboot premiere -> doesn't change anything and premiere don't ask for the missing file.
now I think that the interpretation rules.txt is not the right place to change the Pixel aspect ratio.
can anybody help me? Is there a patch, which change all these settings in the whole cs5 production bundle...
    thanks a lot
    Johannes
btw: sorry for my bad englisch

    Hi J-MS
of course is PP interpreting my footage very well in terms of the cs5 PAR. but I want the PAR of CS3 becouse of the black bars left and right.
    One example step by step:
    - I render an AE Comp in 1920x1080
    - import that into premiere and create a HD timeline which fits perfectly to the footage
    - send this to Encore and create a PAL DVD
---> now you will find these ugly bars left and right
the same if you put the 1920x1080 (that is truly 16/9) in a dv Pal widescreen timeline in premiere ( since CS4 with the PAR of 1.4587). right-click on scale to frame size. and again the black bars!
For me, the old PAR 1.422 and 1.06 worked really fine and there for I try to get them back. and I know that I'm not the only one..
