  • I've just changed from a PC to a mac and have a large number of downloaded WMA music files (not i-tunes purchases) which I just can't get into my i-tunes library. File converters don't seem to work either. Any ideas?

I've just changed from a PC to a mac and have a large number of downloaded WMA music files which I can't get into i-tunes. When the library was in Windows, i-tunes would convert the files automatically, but this doesn't happen now. I've downloaded a couple of file converters, but these don't seem to work either. Any ideas?

iTunes for Windows (but not iTunes for Mac) can import and convert unprotected WMA tracks. If the tracks are protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management) then it will not accept them.
One option would be to install iTunes on your PC, do the conversion, and then transfer the converted tracks from iTunes on your PC to iTunes on your Mac.

  • Drag and drop music files into i-tunes

hi i have suddenly started having a problem in dragging music or video files into i-tunes when i try i get what i can only describe as a no entry sign ie a circle with a red line through it and my file refuse to go to i-tunes
does any one know how to overcome this
    thanks in advance
    steve
ps i have uninstalled/reinstalled i-tunes 2 or 3 time to no avail so any help would be appreciated

I fixed the drag and drop issues I had! Turns out they were caused by the permission problems of Vista. To fix it I just made sure all the files in the iTunes folder and sub folders were full control by my account.
Make sure you check the properties of the iTunes database specifically because before, the iTunes folder had the correct permissions but they hadn't actually been inherited correctly by the iTunes DB files. Hope this helps anyone else.

  • How to import a music file into garage band ?

    Hello everyone,
I am new to Garage Band, pardon me if my question is too basic.
I am trying to record a vocal. But friend has sent me a music recording (mixture of guitar & piano, without vocal) in mp3 format.
I want to put this mp3 file in another track below the track that I am recording the vocal.
How do I import in this mp3 file into Garage band ?
    Thanks

U mean I open another window using FInder, select the file in Finder & then drop on the timeline ?
    Thanks, really appreciate your help.

You cannot. You have to convert the file(s) with another tool to another format that iTunes accepts.

  • Importing wma music files?!?!?!

So all of my cd's are ripped into windows media player and are therefore in wma format. I just got an ipod touch so I tried to import them into itunes but everytime I do it says that they are in protected wma format and itunes can only convert unprotected wma formats and if I have the original cd's I can rip them on to itunes. Please tell me there is some way to get around this! I have about 400 albums on my computer and i'm not going to go through the hassle of ripping them again. PLEASE HELP!!!

well i still have my cd's. i burnt them to my computer and then to an external hard drive for backup but i used media player so all my files are in protected wma format. i was hoping there was some way to take the protection off because i'm not going through the hassle of ripping them all again.

  • How to best import existing audio files into iTunes?

    Hello,
In sum, my question is:  What is the difference between adding music to iTunes Library by the following methods:
    Placing the audio files in the 'Automatically Add to iTunes' Folder;
Dragging the files from my hard drive to the Source Pane in iTunes; or
Using the File > Add Folder to Library dialogue?
Here are the particulars of my situation:
I have over 3,000 music files, and I would like to know the best way to get them into iTunes. From a lynda.com training video about using iTunes, I learned that there is a folder called "Automatically Add to iTunes", which is monitored by iTunes for new files to import into the iTunes library. However, I would like to know if this is the *best* way to do this. For example, can I just *move* my 3,000 music files into this 'Automatically Add to iTunes' folder and then let iTunes do its thing?
Will iTunes *move* the files that it is able to manage OUT of this folder and into one of its managed folders, such that there would be no duplicate file left behind? Is it correct in saying that the files that are left in this folder that were not able to be handled by iTunes and must be handled differently before they can be imported into iTunes? Or is there just an all around different, and better, way to get these music files into iTunes?
Thanks for your advice and opinions!
    ~Antonio

    Hello tt2,
I have given this a lot of thought and attention over the last few days.  As well, I appreciate very much your input and offers of help.
The major 'problem' that I have is that the files are most definitely not consistently named.  For example, they include the likes of the following:
    07 - Song Name - Song Artist.mp3
    01 - Song Artist_Song Name.wma
    Song Name [Song Artist].aac
And these are only examples, based on my trying to get across how variant the names are.  The actual file names are far more wildly various than even these, seemingly consistent file names.
So, this is what I was thinking of doing, per your suggestion:
An alternative aproach would be to use something like MediaMonkey (has advanced filename/path to tag tools) or MusicBrainz Picard (attempts to match audio fingerprints) to update the tags before the files get introduced to iTunes.
    Then...
    1. Move the files into the 'Automatically Add to iTunes' folder, then let iTunes have a go at getting them in to iTunes.
    2. Using either Tuneup or MusicBrainz Picard (Any comment on which is better?) to cleanup the file names (again) properly; and
    3. Then using your script to force iTunes to update itself, based on any new id3 data.
Does this sound like madness?  Or is it a good solution for this application?  I am very grateful for your, or any other, input.
    Take good care,
    ~Antonio

  • How to Import Vector Identified Files into Photoshop Without Losing Quality

    Hello,
I am creating a series of music worksheets on photoshop. I have created some music scores in a music writing software called Sibelius 7. It has the capability to export the sheet music graphics in the following forms: .pdf, .eps, .bmp, .tiff, .png, .svg .
However, I have tried to 'place' each of them into my photoshop file to see which one will work. But on saving the photoshop document as a .pdf with any of the graphics formats, the vector quality of the image has been lost, as it pixelates on zooming in. I have also tried to import an .svg file into adobe illustrator to save it as an .ai file and then import that into photoshop, but the image is again pixelated.
I don't really know what is happening, as I am essentially trying to import a file that is a vector (or at least does not pixelate on zooming) into photoshop, hoping for the same qualities to be retained, but it is being lost for some reason.
    What should I do?
    Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. I opened the vectored pdf into illustrator. I tested illustrator by saving that document as a new pdf and the vector quality was still retained. I the following images, I copied and pasted the vector from illustrator into photoshop. However, on saving this new photoshop document as a pdf, it does not retain the vector format, as you can see with the pixelation that occurs when zooming in on an object.
    Thank you.
