Important Folder can only be accessed by dock

Somehow a folder decided to disappear from the regular directory heirarchy. I first noticed it missing when trying to access the folder from another computer. It is a fairly important folder, so luckily, on the computer thatit is located, I have it in my finder's dock. It's the only way I can access it. Everything seems to be working... nothing's completely gone.
I've tried to find out where it is by "Find", but it doesn't show up at all. I've tried dragging a jpg from the folder into my browser, but the location bar just shows "file://foldername/img.jpg"
Ok, after about 30 minutes, the folder appeared in the search window of find, and when I check the directories it's supposed to be in, it pops up after about 15 seconds.
What's going on? I don't want this happening again.

The Tray / side panel is called the Sidebar.
Exactly where is the lost folder supposed to be?
When you click on the folder's icon in the Sidebar, what folder opens in the Finder window?
While that window is open, from the Finder View menu, select Customize Toolbar.
Drag the Path button to the Toolbar, and click Done.
When you click on the Path icon, the path is displayed.

This is not being accepted by import wizard

I'm running into the same problem except I'm deploying the webservice using .NET WCF (not asp). I'm using LabVIEW2011 32bit on Windows 7 64bit. Is this possible? My WSDL URL is something like this: http://localhost:8085/TSNISvcLib/TSNISvcLibImpl/ABC?wsdl and I'm getting the error below:

Aperture 3.3 updated. Importing images, can no longer access drive

This has happened several times. Let me try and explain it a little better.
I import images, step away from my computer, come back screen is blank (display asleep) the computer is not. I hit the space bar to bring it back to life and then try to do the next import. For some reason Aperture cant find the disk after that. I can get to it in finder and see the filesystem and folders.
The only way I can get back into the library is to disconnect the drive, close aperture, plug the drive back in and start aperture. If I close aperture and re-open it, it says I dont have the proper permissions to open this library, checked that, I have read & write. I dont have this problem ising the drive with any other app.
Never had this problem prior to upgrade & if I keep importing without the screen going dark it appears to stay working. Its very strange.
Anyone?

I am the person who first posted this question yesterday. After reading other postings this morning, I followed the advice to "restore" 3 Mozilla files which had been quarantined by Norton Internet Security yesterday. My Firefox 3.6.6 now works great. Also see:

How to make single page can only be accessed by one user at the same time

While a user is accessing a page and modifying the data in this page. Other users are blocked for this page. How can it be realized?
Any ideas or help are appreciated.

So means there are n number of users and you want that if any one of them accessing this page then nobody else will have access to that page.
-> Use flag in DB and whenever user accessing that page set the flag 1 after login and check condition while other user login.
-> After logout back to 0.
Well this is possible one of the solution, not the best one.Try to find some other also.

Time Capsule visible as wifi but hard drive can only be accessed via ethernet.

Time Capsule shows up as WiFi in Airport menu bar but does not show up in Airport Utility. Hard drive is accessible via ethernet connection but not by wireless.
How can I reset the TC or reload a saved configuration?

Yes, with the following warnings.
1. A 1TB TC is a Gen3 or earlier and can die at a moments notice.. So backup is essential.
2. A Gen1 or 2 is slow.. even over ethernet they were processor bound and so transfer speeds are not great.. a USB2 plugged into the computer will be faster. Gen3 is about 50% better as the processor was upgraded by 50% speed.
3. TC has no built in backup.. TM cannot backup network drives.
4. TC is designed to spin up slowly and spin down quickly.. you will have issues with itunes constantly losing the library.
5. You cannot use USB to the TC.. it is a network drive. If you want to use USB directly on the computer buy a USB drive.. but buy as fast a drive as your Mac supports.. Thunderbolt>USB3>FW800>USB2
USB3 is cheap and very good.. but the port is only from 2012 so check your Mac specs.
Thunderbolt whilst being super fantastic and around since 2011, has a bank account clearing price although there are Thunderbolt to esata converters.. for around $160. esata falls between usb3 and fw800.
FW800 from WD is no better than USB2 but other brands it can be twice the speed of usb2.
USB2 is the worst. But still faster than a TC.

Can't move my iPhotos folder - can only copy

Im trying to move my iphoto library into my google drive folder to sync it up, but it only lets me copy the folder and not move it (its currently in the root of the harddrive - the google drive folder is on the same harddrive)
In fact I cant move anything from the root of the hardrive to any other location - its as if its locked or somthing
Copying it there isnt an option either as i havent enough space on my harddrive

The strange thing is that on both itunes programs it shows the other library on the left hand toolbar and it will let me play songs from either on both systems.
Just not Apple TV, it only works with the laptop.

try a reset, hold down the home/powr button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up. If that doesn't work then contact your phone carrier.

"Don't import duplicates" and question about the Last Import folder

*THE CLIP IMPORTING (TO IMOVIE) PROCESS*
Ever since the last time I uploaded clips and made movies with them, I have shot new footage. I never erased the clips that were in the Sanyo VPC-HD2000A.
This morning I uploaded the clips to my iMovie '11, including image stabilization. (Bypassed iPhoto '11 completely, on purpose.)
What caused me concern while the clips were uploading is that there were no prompts about +"only new clips, no duplicates"+ to be imported. There was one set of options saying "Importing checked, or Import checked," but the problem was that I saw nowhere that any of the clips in the box (I will call it the Sanyo Box) could be checked. Selected, yes, but checked, no. I tried to select all of the newly shot footage, but that was impossible. It was only possible to select one clip at a time.
I did not interrupt the file transfer because I did so once last month and it caused me problems.
I ended up with 36 files uploaded and imported.
*THE EVENT LIBRARY LAST IMPORT FOLDER*
_In the iMovie '11 Events Library, the Last Import folder contains clips that were uploaded last month to iMovie. If I am to understand the label, "Last Import" does not mean, "And also stuff from a previous import."_
I realize that having duplicates of clips can be solved by deleting clips, but I really want to know what is going on and also what ought to be going on. Shouldn't the Last Import folder contain only those clips that are in the most recent upload?
And why was there no prompt for all duplicates to be disregarded and not imported?
Did I possibly bollix up the preferences in my Sanyo VPC-HD2000A and did I accidentally tell it not to ask whether or not I want to import duplicates?
I can see that someone could say, "Make sure you delete all old clips before you shoot new footage," but that is an "of course." I need to know what happens when you keep clips in the camera and want to import only the new clips.

In LR3 it would ALWAYS pick up the duplicates if I inserted a card I'd just imported.
With no change to my workflow I'm now having instances of the same files being imported multiple times.

Time Capsule... can it be accessed when traveling?

I bought the TIME CAPSULE a couple of days ago for two purposes and we picked this one for ONE MAJOR CAPABILITY that we need and I can't get it to work and have now been told that it WILL NOT DO THIS :
     1. We needed a new wireless modem, ours is about 6 years old, we use our xbox for online gaming, we all have iphones ( 4 people), we have two ipads, and and mac book. All of these apple devices obviously use the wifi and we also bought our two boys HP computers for Christmas, so once they are set up will also be using the wifi.
          I was told that the time capsule could withstand a large number of devices "pulling" on it's wifi and that they send out two different "networks" one that the iphones and ipads would sign on to the one that was better for phones and tablets and that the Mac Book and other computers and the xbox would sign onto the other one and that this is one of the reasons that it can handle so many devices....
     2. We need a large hard drive to take the photos, movies, songs, etc. off of my Mac Book, our phones, other smaller HDs (250/500gb) and store them to free up space on our devices so that they can move faster and just to have them backed up....
WE NEED IT TO BE ACCESSIBLE FOR OTHER LOCATIONS ( when we are traveling for world). We were told that we could access the files the pics, song, or movies from anywhere as long as we could get onto the Internet. My husband just deployed, instead of taking several small hard drives with him, he thought I would have this working and that he would be able to access them. He wants to be able to watch the movies during his downtime. We were told by the sales person that this would be no problem, easy. That we could sign on to the time capsule from the Internet. THIS IS NOT WORKING... I went back to the store and was told by another sales person that this IS NOT POSSIBLE and that it is mainly used for back ups and can only be accessed by the devices on the actual network in the house.... Uggg, I am sooo aggravated because I am trying to get all of this set up.
So, the sales person told me to just by the AIRPORT EXTREME ( because it will do all the things we need in a modem) and to buy the separate 3T HARDRIVE made by another brand but is made for this type of use and actually as an "APP" as well that can be download on mobile devices and the file that are on it can be accessed from anywhere in the world with the right password.
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHICH IS MORE ACCURATE?? PLEASE AND SOON. I'D LIKE TO START GETTING FILES UPLOADED ASAP SO THAT MY HUSBAND WHO IS DEPLOYED CAN ENJOY THAT SMALL PIECE OF HOME.
I already have the TIME CAPSULE hooked up and it is working fine as a modem and it is doing the "TIME MACHINE BACK UPS" but I am not able to up load the pics and movies and I am also not able to figure out how to make it accessible to my husband over the Internet. I am ready to take it down.... I have already bought the AIRPORT EXTREME and the other 3T HARDRIVE.
I just need to know what to do.... and I will return which ever items cannot do what I need. I am not a computer expert and I don't understand all of the "computer lingo" that you guys are using on here. I am not completely stupid though and I do know the basics and also how to set up the stuff. I have a very good back ground in computer uses and software and a little bit of knowledge on LAN and setting them up.
If someone could please advise me of the best decision or even if the TIME CAPSULE even really has the capability of being accessed from another location I would greatly appreciate it.

Well here is the issue, as I said, my husband is deployed and he is the one that will be trying to access it. I have the mac book here with me. He has an iphone,ipad, and a windows based laptop with him... Is there a way for him to access it with these devices, to include the windows laptop?
If all of this works can I load pics and movies on it and him be able to access them and then watch the movies?

How do I make a folder available only to a specified group?

I want to put a folder in my Public folder but only allow access to that folder to specific individuals here in my office.
I think that each of those users have to have an account on my machine.
I think I have to use NetInfo Manager to create a new group with those accounts and set the R/W access to that group.
Other postings in this forum talk about duplicating existing groups (e.g. admin) and changing the GID and all kinds of scary technical stuff.
Isn't there a simpler way?

I agree that Netinfo Manager's user interface is pretty miserable for creating new workgroups.
An easier way to do it is to download and install the Server Admin Tools from Apple.
Once you get that installed, look in /Applications/Server for Workgroup Manager. When it asks you to enter the domain, enter localhost, and use your admin username/password for the rest.
On the left side, there will "users" and "groups" buttons. With those it is easy to create a custom group and assign any number of users to it.
When it is done, you are ready to apply the group privilege to the desired folder. Right-click the folder and select Get Info, under Group privilege, apply the new group, and set the permissions accordingly.

You access them in the event they are in or under Photos or from an album if they are in an album - simply drag them to the book project in the source pane on the left

Sorry for the long delay. I have Windows 8.1 and using Lightroom 5.7 I have organized my unedited RAW format photos in files on my hard drive in folders in My documents/pictures. Once I edit them I move them to another folders on a separate drive and discard the rejects.
When trying to access my documents by selecting .File - Import from another catalog- my documents/ pictures; I see the folders, however when I select it, it says No items to match your search When using the drop down menu on the lower right I can only see the images if I click on "all files" and when I click on the image I want to import, it says "Lightroom cannot import this catalog; "The catalog does not appear to be a valid Lightroom catalog"
All of this happend when I loaded a Cannon Pro 100 printer plug-in. I tried to disable the plugin, but It is still happining and cannot access the images.
