Important folder MIA. How can I recover it?

I am a little desperate at the moment and would appreciate any advice. My G5 has been powering off with no warning so I decided to back-up. I dragged the files into the disk window but was unable to burn them and then couldn’t eject the disk. I tried to drag the files out of the window and was advised ‘an older version of this folder already exists. Replace it with this one?’ I said yes. Now, the contents of the original folder are gone. There is a folder with the same name, an arrow in the bottom left corner (alias?) but it contains the contents of the desktop. I can’t find any trace of the files that were in it.
The files are extremely important and can’t be recreated. I hadn’t backed up in a couple of months because I was having problems burning disks.
Is there anything I can do or is it all lost?

There are some options available, which include the following:
1. Purchase an external flash drive large enough to store the recovered files and use that.
2. If your iMac G3 has a FireWire port, hook the two machines up with a FireWire cable and start up the iMac G3 with the T key held down. This will make the G3's hard disk available to the iMac G5, and you can use it to store the files.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

If the folder was replaced, it was written over.
Nothing short of forensic data recovery (probably involving taking the drive apart to scan the discs seperately) is going to recover anything (if indeed even that will).

If you right mouse and select Get info it will show you the Apple ID used to purchase these songs.
Usually the name of an apple id is based on the email. So knowing that you may have forgotten the Apple ID password.

If you have removed your personal data when uninstalling Firefox then the Firefox profile folder that store your Firefox personal data has been removed.
If you do not have a backup of the files in this folder then your only option is to try to recover this data with an undelete utility like Recuva.

How can I recover memory on iPad?

I was downloading movies onto my iPad from iCloud today - Wreck-it Ralph (SD) and Despicable Me 2 (HD). Before downloading, I checked my available space and it said I had 11.2 GB of free space. Then I started downloading both movies at the same time from the cloud.
Wreck-it Ralph finished, but Despicable Me 2 seemed to get stuck and made no progress for a very long time....so I hit the stop button. I tried to restart, but it seemed to get stuck again, so I stopped it once more. When I went back and looked at my available space, it now said only 6.5 GB. I have Wreck-it Ralph on my computer as well, so I know that it only takes 1.43 GB. So what happened to the other 3-4 GB???? Did the Despicable Me movie go into some Temp folder on my iPad and get stuck there because I cancelled? On iTunes, I looked at the graph for space usage and 'OTHER' is 5.72 GB!! How can I recover that lost space?
I tried restarting my iPad and also syncing it again to my computer, but it still reads 6.5 GB with only Wreck-it Ralph installed. Any help appreciated!

That sounds weird. If you cannot download Despicable Me 2 from your iPad, maybe you can try downloading it to the iPad via iTunes. If you want more space afterward, you can delete it and hopefully recover the space that's MIA.

they were never imported to a comp but yes the pics were saved on my photo stream buti acutally first deleted off photo stream. what i did was create a folder within my albums then added the 60 photos to the album, then deleted 1 off photo stream to test and it didnt delete from my new folder, then deleted all off photo stream and then i thought i could delete off camera roll, then did that and realised it also deleted off my new folder created - so was left with nothing!

My Pages app for iPad tells me I can't open a document and even iCloud won't let me download it to my Mac, how can I recover my document?

I really don't know what happened to Pages. First I was using the app, working on a document and everything was fine. I updated it a couple of times and there was no problem. Then, when I tried to open it once more snd continue to work with it, a message appeared telling me that the document had been modified in other iPad. Usually this would make sense but not this time because this file was only used on my iPad. So I chose to keep the document version created on my iPad and **** got loose since then. The document could't open, every time I tried, a message told me "The file cannot be open", so I read A LOT of what to do in this horrible case and tried to open it via iTunes but the option withbthe little arrow that usually works for send the file via e-mail, or to dropbox, or to print appear like I can't use it for anything so most of my options and hopes died. Then on a Mac I tried to dowñoad the file to see if there I could open it or at least change the file code from .pages to .zip and then unzip it but I can't even dowload it form iCloud so you see, I'm desperate. I need help, please! The document is very very important so could you tell me how can I recover it?

If all your files are missing

You should import all pics and vids before attempting any update.
