Important Suggestion for IOS mail delete feature

For those of us who get a lot of mail messages and have multiple platforms for reading those messages, the current iPhone and iPad capabilities for deleting messages leaves a lot to be desired.  It seems simple to me that there should be a Select All function in Edit so that when I have several hundred messages in my mailbox I don't have to go and touch everyone to delete them.  Please, Apple, take care of this in the next version.  I had hopes it would be in version 6 but to no avail.

You can tell Apple here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Where can i make a suggestion for a mail feature on a future update?

I was looking for somewhere to make a suggestion for a future mail feature on the iphone, but couldn't find a place to do it.
It would be useful to be able to set mail fetching as manual in the evening and timed during the working day so my evenings aren't disturbed by work emails.
What do you reckon Apple? A feature for the next iOS update?

You are not addressing Apple here.
You can turn off the mail notification sound each night if you like.

  • Bug: pressing backspace to delete a word in Pages for iOS automatically deletes space before word

    Hi guys,
When I delete a word in Pages for iOS 7 character-by-character, the deletion automatically includes the space before the word, even if I don't initiate a keypress for that space. This is sporadic in that it consistently occurs in some sections of text (usually at the end of lines) and not in others, in paragraphs with custom Styles and in paragraphs with default Styles alike.
If the bug happened consistently, I could probably by habit overcome this extra deletion. However, since it does not happen in every circumstance, it's unpredictable and as such very disruptive to my workflow.
This occurs in new documents with no formatting. I've also tried Resetting All Settings, restoring the app through the Settings menu, and deleting and re-downloading the app from the App Store. It occurs both when I use my Bluetooth wireless keyboard (Logitech) and when I use the iPad Mini's OS keyboard.
I really don't want to restore my entire iPad just to fix this problem, as I think it's an app-based bug (the problem does not happen at all in any other text app).
This Pages version is 1.7.2, and I'm using iOS 7.0.2 on an iPad Mini WiFi only.
Could anyone with a similar setup try this out? I can't be the only one...right?

I am experiencing this as well. In another thread (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5374836) it appears someone contacted support about it and was told this is expected behavior.
For me, this will cause me to stop using Pages. It's extremely aggravating.

  • AIR for iOS, are all features working? Need to quote a complex project and want to make sure...

    Hi,
I am quoting for a large RIA to be exported as an iOS app, using features such as consuming webservices in https, etc.
    My question is:
    - Do all standard AIR features work when packaging for iOS? Can I consume data on the internet? store local data? save photos? access the camera? etc.
    - What is notoriously not working?
    Thank you very much

    Filippo

Those things you mentioned should work. The main thing that does not work is you can't load an external swf that has code in it, that's not allowed.

  • Important suggestion for the Alarm Clock

In short, the snooze and dismiss buttons are way too close to each other. In the early morning with no glasses on it is pretty easy to tell which is which because of the color difference, but they are so close together that it is actually pretty easy to hit the wrong one. The next update should place these a solid inch away from each other.
Post relates to: Pre Plus p101vzw (Verizon)

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
This is an excellent suggestion, and one that should be made directly to our developers. I recommend visiting the website we have set aside for this purpose at www.palm.com/feedback where our developers monitor customer requests for changes and new features.
Until then, you may want to investigate the homebrew community at www.precentral.net as they may have a solution you can use now. If you do, please keep in mind that homebrew is not supported by Palm, and we cannot assist with installation, removal, or related troubleshooting.
    Hope this helps,

  • Suggestion for Apple Mail

I don't use Apple Mail regularly myself, but here's a suggestion for email client developers everywhere. Maybe some clients already do this?
I've lost count of the number of times that I've sent an email off but forgotten to attach a file. Or the number of times I've received an email absent of an intended attachment.
What about this? The email client looks for the word 'attach', 'attachment', 'attachments', etc, and if there is no attachment, the system pops up an alert asking the user "Are you sure you don't want to attach a file to this email?". Obviously the alert could be suppressed via preferences. I know this won't solve the problem entirely, but my guess is that a great many emails that are sent with an attachment include the phrase "I attach" or "Attached is", something like that.
Payment gratefully accepted for this worldwide convenience and efficiency gain!
    Cheers, Steven

Steven, don't tell us about it. We are just other users (with rare exceptions). We can't do anything about your suggestion. Go to the Mac OS X tab above and then Tiger and then Feedback and then give feedback about Mail. The Mail developers are more apt to see it then, but posting in the user-to-user technical help discussions the developers are not likely to see it.

  • Suggestion for new Mail feature

It would be great to be able to file emails to folders by using a button on the toolbar, or a keyboard shortcut, that would open a text box in which you could type the name of the folder you want to file the email.

  • How to stop ios mail deleting icloud email from mac mail?

    This is driving me insane.
I have an icloud email address set up on my iphone and mac mail.
I want to leave emails on my phone 'on the server'. Read them when i'm out, delete them... come home and have them all come through on mail where i'll deal with them.
Right now if I delete them on my phone, they're deleted on mac mail also.
I have all my regular email addresses set up to do this. Except the one icloud address I want to move everything to!!!
    Help!!!

    Hello there David DW,
It sounds like your iPhone does whatever your iPad does with regard to joining or forgetting a Wi-Fi network. From what you are describing it seems to me that iCloud Keychain is enabled, as this is a function of that feature. The only way to stop what you are seeing from happening is to disable iCloud keychain on one of the devices:
Frequently asked questions about iCloud Keychain
iCloud Keychain keeps your Safari website usernames and passwords, credit card information, and Wi-Fi network information up to date across all of your approved devices that are using iOS 7.0.3 or later or OS X Mavericks v10.9 or later.
You can do this in your iCloud Settings:
    iCloud: Change iCloud feature settings
On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then tap to turn on or off iCloud features.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • Suggestions for Organizing Mail?

I am new to Mac and I'm learning.
As a former Windows user, I loved the ability to edit the subject line of incoming email in Outlook. I'd use this feature to enter due dates, then sort bill notification emails according to due date and drop them in a 'Bills' folder. I'd also keep unpaid bills marked unread so I could quickly see the number due.
Mail does not allow me to edit the subject line - as far as I can tell. I can mark unread, but I still haven't found a way to enter a due date for sorting.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can organize and sort similar to how I did in Outlook?
    Thanks!

You could create a to-do from an incoming message, and set dates priorities etc. which are able to be sorted by date.
    More details shown here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mail/3.0/en/15160.html

  • How can I import Outlook for Mac mail into Lion Mail?

How can I import mail from Outlook for Mac into Lion Mail?

It is not Outlook that needs to be sync'd; it is the Exchange Server.  Find out from the System Administrator of the Exchange Server the EXTERNAL name and use that to setup a new mail account in Lion Mail.  I highlight the "external" because the URL used for Window's Outlook Clients will not work.  Try the webmail URL first.

  • Import funtion for apple mail crashing after starting

Just got a new hard drive after Genius Bar said it was failing this week.
After they re-installed Snow Leopard, I moved my data from Time Machine back-up to my MacBook Pro. During this process, the mail import wizard kept crashing (Assuming there was at least one mbox file that either was corrupt or something?). So, I dumped .plist file, opened mail app and starting re-building all my folders one at a time using the 'rebuild' function.
But, the rebuild function did not grab a separate sub-folder in Sent Folder for my work POP accounts called 'Messages-T0x10bc0cb00-1KEwvh' - all of these have sent mail from the last two years. Everytime I try importing them, mail app crashes.
    A) How do I get these emails into my sent folder for this POP account?
    B) Why is the import function crashing? (The console keeps saying Can't get profile to fetch realms edu.mit.kerberos.krb5kdc Throttling respaw: Will start in 10 seconds)
    C) How do I know if "Rebuild" function didn't grab some other folders - do I need to manually find and rebuild those sub-folders?
    Thanks so much....
Sorry re-posting but there isn't any editing functionality.

Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk for OS 10.6.8 and under.  It shows you how in the link.
You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Repair reports and if DU was able to repair them. This could just be a start in repairs and you may need a better utility to finish the job.
    Then Repair Permissions.
No need to report any Permissions errors........we all get them.

  • IOS mail deleting Yahoo mails

I don't know where the problem lies, but, I lost my entire email(twice!) in my inbox when trying to delete multiple emails from my iPad.
As always, I would select "Edit", and select multiple emails to delete and select "Delete". And "Delete Message" button pops up.
When I touch that button, everything in my inboxe are deleted! When it happened the first time, I thought I did something wrong.
But, it happened again! Luckily, Yahoo was able to restore my emails both times.
Now, I am deleting one at a time from iPad.
    Anyone with similar problem?

If Mail is configured for IMAP access, what you're seeing is "normal" behavior. See this discussion.
You might look into POP3 access, although that may cause you other problems.

  • Best Suggestion for Temporary Mail Situation

Hi, we have a MacBook Pro that has no display currently (most likely fried video card). So it will be off to AppleLand for a week or more. We are cloning the entire system to an external hard drive just to be safe, but we're hoping Apple won't touch the hard drive.
The toughest decision is how to access and use Mail in that time without creating a synchronization nightmare when the system comes back. We could just use Web Mail, but we need access to old emails as well.
If we can boot from the cloned system OK, I suppose we could use Mail as usual and just copy the entire Mail folder back to the old system when it comes back. The only thing we're not sure of is that the cloned system is from an Intel mac, and we just have older G5s to boot it.
    • Any potential dangers to this?
If this doesn't work, we would need a way to get a separate Mail system working on one of the alternate computers. The problem here is that the G5 we would most likely use is still using 10.4.11, not Leopard.
    • Is there a way to 'extract' some of the messages from the backed-up Mail to view in this separate system?
    • If we do use a separate system, would there be any way to 'merge' the new mail we get in the next week or so back into the old system?
Thanks! Any other suggestions are welcome. Keeping mail in-synch when having to transfer computers is one of the more pressing, but daunting tasks, especially when it's temporary.

You could have a New User Account on a Mac running Leopard, and do this quite easily, by transplanting the com.apple.mail.plist file from the User Directory/Library/Preferences folder and the Mail folder from User Directory/Library. The same could be done with the AddressBook folder in the Applications Support folder in the User Directory/Library. Later you would reverse the transplant procedure.
The problem with doing this into a environment using Tiger (10.4.11) is that the two versions of Mail do not use the same file to prevent duplicate downloading of messages from the POP servers. This would complicate things initially, but would not be a problem later shifting back. Also, I am not sure if anything other than the basic account and mailbox structure would survive in good shape going backward, and then later forward again in versions. If you were using only IMAP accounts, it would not present any problem, I don't think, but I have presumed POP?
You should not be able to boot from the cloned system on any computer other than the original MacBook Pro, btw, so that is not an option.

  • Is there anywhere that Apple takes suggestions for iOS updates?

I have an idea that I think everyone can appreciate.
I would like to see them add a dictionary-type feature to the settings for the auto-correct function, so people can directly add words to the dictionary and have the ability to control which words are auto-corrected. Just like you would find in Microsoft Word.

Looks like wjosten gets the first prize!
