[Important] Video sync problem

There are some video files that I converted to mp4 format.
but some of their videos are not in sync with audio.
The video appears a little bit later behind the audio.
Subtle but definite.
This problem appears same on my computer's quicktime player.
but this doesn't happen when I use other video players.
What do you think of the cause of this problem?
p.s. Only when I use vlc player or oplayer which don't need encoding, this problem hasn't appeared.

Use a different converter.
If the problem persists-it's your source file.

  • 'Source play' and 'audio-video sync' problems with PE8 on fast WIN7 64 bit computer

I am transferring Hi8 videos, about 2 hours long, to my WIN7 64 bit computer with PE8.  [Dell Mobile Precision M4400 Computer Workstation (Intel Core 2 Duo T9900 500GB/4GB); NVIDIA Quadro FX 770M, 512MB] I seem to have several problems:
First, after importing the file (.avi), I get a message about ‘dropped frames.’
Secondly, when I try to play the video in the source monitor, the audio plays but the video doesn’t; it only shows the first frame [this is after waiting until the video is ?recognized? ]   I can use the shift-arrow key and see that the video is there.
Thirdly, I can play the .avi file in other players, e.g., avidemux or PE pro CS5 on another computer.  There, I see that the audio and video are not in sync; the audio can be up to 300 ms ahead of the video (as determined using avidemux).
    Questions:
    1.  Why doesn’t the source monitor play the video? Is this a problem with PE8 (latest update as of 3 March 2011) on aWIN7 64 bit computer (intel duo core. 3 GHz).
    2. Is the audio-video sync problem the result of the ‘dropped frames?’ How can PE8 correct this? Avoid this? Or, is it coincidence?

"I think you're telling me you're using a backwards compatible Digital8  camcorder to capture your video as DV-AVIs. Is that right?" YES
"Are you using  Premiere Elements to do this capturing?" YES, AS ABOVE PE8
"Go to the File menu and select Properties. It should show a standard DV codec being used for your video and audio."
WMP v12 is dumb. Under properties, media, it says 'video.'  However, avidemux gave me the information state above: video -- Codec 4CC: dvsd, frame rate: 29.971 fps; audio -- codec: PCM, channels: Stereo, frequency: 48 kHz.
    So, back to the Questions:

  • Old IMac 17'' video sync problem at boot

    Hi,
A friend has brought his IMac 17'', which has a video sync problem. At boot, all screen lines are out of sync, but I can more or less recognize the apple logo, which disappears later. Something happens at least, there is a boot processing going on I think.
I tried to reset the parameter ram, it does not help.
I have heard of a power supply problem that can cause that problem. Is that right? The computer serial is: W8446APAPP7.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks!
    Philippe

Here's a simple test case I've made, it's just a bunch of lines drawn in an orthographic OpenGL view. When you scroll horizontially with scrollbars or by space+dragging, the effect is very noticeble.
The .app and source are available here:
    http://www.johnpsimons.com/mac/TestApp.tgz
    http://www.johnpsimons.com/mac/TestSource.tgz
I believe this is the same problem as with the Apple homepage Flash thing. It's not just a problem with Flash.

  • Video Sync Problems in iTunes 11.1/ios 7

I have recently upgraded to ios 7 for my iPad and iPhone, and iTunes 11.1.  I added two new videos to iTunes (.m4v format) and now when I try to sync with my iPad it seems to hang forever on "Waiting for changes to be applied" and then gives me an error message that the videos are not of a format that can be played on the iPad.  This is odd since I already have .m4v videos on my iPad that play just fine.  Moreover, I deselected some videos and they do not delete from my iPad as well.  Is anyone else encountering this?  I have seen some posting regarding music files and playlists not syncing, but nothing about movie files.

I've had video syncing problems (not with music though) when I updated my iPhone 4s to the new IOS 7, but I finally figured it out. What I did was I plugged my 4s in to my computer (Windows 7, 64-bit), then opened iTune (11.1.3.8), clicked on my iPhone tab on the upper right, under "Summary" put a 'check' in the Manually sync music & videos.
Looking at the picture above, notice the: Movies, Music Videos, and  Home Videos; are now available. Before this method, these three wasn't there. These are all in the original Videos app for the iPhone. I hope this help you guys too.

If GPU acceleration is checked, uncheck it and see if that helps.

Could you give us a Mediainfo or Gspot screen shot of what's in the AVI wrapper?

  • Video Syncing Problems

    Hello,
Recently I have been trying to sync a 30 MB video file in MP4 format to my 8 GB iPod Touch first generation. I have nearly 6 GB of space on my MacBook and nearly 5 GB of space on my device.
Here's my problem: I open up iTunes, attach my device to the computer, and check the box of the video so it should sync. I click Apply. Immediately after, a message pops up and says, "There is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the selected playlists (27.09 GB required, 4.97 GB available) ".
My analysis of this message: It says I have 4.90 GB of space left on my device, but it's close enough to mean they could be talking about my device when they say what's available. What confuses is me is why 27 GB needs to be required when I have less than 8 GB possible on my device. Even if they were talking about the computer, why would I need 27 GB to transfer a 30 MB file?
I have tried using QuickTime to export my video again. I have tried to import to library. Nothing works. In fact, if I try and import just a playlist of songs the same message pops up. And same message pops up for photos.
What's going on? How can I fix this problem? I'm on a time deadline, so please respond ASAP!
    Thanks!

Woops - manually manage box wasn't checked. Sorry, it's fixed now.

  • Premiere 6.5 mpg-import audio-sync problem

I use a Sony Cybershot digital still camera (DSC-P41/P43) for my films (it's all I have currently). Before I bought a 2 GB memory stick, according to the manual it recorded in mpeg-1 in "standard" resolution only (imports as ".mpg"). With the 2 GB stick, however, it now films mpeg-1 in "FINE" resolution also.
I was using WMovieMaker just fine for "standard", but after beginning to use "fine," WMM began to crash with only 1-2 minutes in the timeline, and took forever to load projects and mpg files.
So I permanently switched to using Premiere 6.5, since, although it seemed to be too heavy of an editor for my PC (with Windows XP Pro 2002 SP2 and an AMD-k7 processor, 698MHz, 640 MB RAM), I discovered it actually handles the files without crashing.
HOWEVER, after rendering to avi, the AUDIO IS +/- 15 FRAMES AHEAD of the video. I've tried reading through all the forums, adjusting all settings to match, etc., to no avail. Any suggestions?
2--Although I don't do any direct captures in Premiere because my camera's so simple and I just copy its files to a folder in Windows, then import to Premiere, there's a serious problem with my capture settings windows, settings viewer, etc.
Every time I click on the Premiere capture settings box, the program crashes completely, to the point of having to reboot the pc. I just can't understand this ...
Any words of wisdom are most welcome.
Thanks in advance for taking time to read this.
    Don

    Don,
OOS issues are common with MPEG-1 & 2 files in Premiere.
Now, it's usually a constant OOS, and not a "drift," in that once you fix it, it does not change later in the Duration of the file. That is good news.
Please hang with me, as I do not know Pr6.5, so some of this might have to be interpolated.
First thing that I'd do would be to add 02 sec. of Black Video to the Head of the Clip. I'll tell you why in a moment. Now, turn Snap off. Look for something in your Video, that will have a sound to go with it. A CU of a speaker is ideal. A slate/clapper is even better, but you likely do not have that. Once you have found your "sync point," zoom in on the Timeline quite a bit and Alt-click on the Audio Clip and slide it in the direction that you "think" will improve the sync. Test. Slide again. Test. Repeat, until you have it nailed down. Once you have sync, you should be good to go. Note exactly how many frames you nudged the Audio. Repeat with other Clips and start with that amount of nudge.
The reason for the 02 sec. of Black Video at the Head is so that if you have to nudge the Audio to the left, you want a bit of room. Once done, the Black Video can be removed. If you did nudge to the left, you will want to address the Audio portion there. Most likely, you can just trim it.
You can possibly get around the OOS problems, if you convert these files to DV-AVI Type II in a thrid party conversion program.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
[Edit] I see that Eddie has posted the link to file conversion programs. Many in there are freeware, and most get very high marks. Those links will help you, if you choose the conversion route and that is a better workflow in most instances.

  • Audio/video sync problem

I use a standalone home-theater type dvd recorder to make recordings. I don't know too much about the video editing world yet, I only know how to do what I need to do.
I had some problems opening my dvd files with PE7, so as per advice I received in these forums this is my process:
I copy the vob files to the hard drive, use a batch file to join them together, use streamclip to convert to avi format that PE7 reads. From there I do my PE7 editing.  This has always worked well, until today the original recording was done a little different.
Usually, I have 1 recording session. Hit record, hit stop, finalize, done.  But today, I made a mistake and hit stop too soon, so I started recording a 2nd session. I don't see why this should be a problem, but this is the only thing different that's happened today.
So this is what it's doing in PE7 now. The video from the 1st recording session is fine, once I get to the portion of the video that's part of the 2nd recording session, the audio continues normally but the video is moving very fast.  Later on in the video, the video part resumes moving normally, but is of course playing at the wrong place so the sync is still out.
The original dvd plays fine, it's only on the computer this is happening.  What can I do?
    thanks

Also, how do I fix this capture to make it right?  The dvd I'm ripping from is good, but why is my ripping process not working as it always does? thanks
Unfortunately, I do not know the programs, or the processes that you used to rip the DVD.
My strongest recommendation would be to use a bridge device, to do the capture from the DVD player. I use a Turtle Beach, but would recommend the Canopus/Grass Valley. The biggest problem with going from a DVD to an editable file and then probably back to an edited DVD is that you end up with two MPEG-2 conversions. The quality hit is major, IMO.
Here is a ripping workflow, that might yield in-sync files, though dealing with MPEG-2 files often yields OOS issues.
As for the OOS issues, when you have a dynamic OOS, you will need to repeat the process on smaller pieces of the movie. The Scissors/Razor tool will be used, and you will need to cut your Clips and adjust the OOS for the "pieces." Obviously, a constant OOS is easier, as you make one adjustment that works for the whole Timeline. With dynamic/drifting OOS, you must do this incrementally.
As MPEG-2 files often yield a myriad OOS issues, I refrain from using them and will convert all to DV-AVI Type II w/ 16-bit 48KHz PCM/WAV, prior to Import. I hate doing extra work and dynamic/drifting OOS is a lot of work.
If at all possible, I would keep DVD (and MPEG-2 files) out of the workflow, until you go to Burn the final delivery DVD-Video, but that is just me.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Z30 videos sync problems

my Z30 wont sync all y itunes videos. it takes most of them but some it says media being played is of unsupported fromat

you can not play DRM protected videos, they can be converted to MP4 and then sync to phone though
Apple does this on purpose so you have to jump through hoops when switching to a different product
you cant even play a MP4 video with itunes unless you Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:

  • H264 MPEG AVI import video timeline problem

    Hi,
I am a new user of Adobe Premiere CS4.  I am having a problem of importing H264 MPEG AVI files.  I set my project to be HDV 720p 30fps.  I grabbed Gspot and it has identify my video is a H264 codec name H.264/MPEG-4 AVC.  When I import the video I setup the timeline and when I do a playback review in the far left window (default setting).  It play the vido super fast, but the audio is playing normally.  I zoom in the timeline and it seems to think each second is one frame.  So it is playing the video like 30x speed(not 100% on how much faster, just lot).  What am I doing wrong?
After playing around some more, it looks like the video are keyframes as the time jump from frame to frame is huge, not what it look like in a WMP.  Did I somehow imported and it stripped out the deltas?

I looked at the thread and tried it, I get this error.

  • Audio and video sync problem Cs4

    Hello!
For the latest 5-6 years i had the same problem.
Video and audio goes out of sync if I capture more then about 10 minutes. The same if I export more then about 10 minutes.
It doesen´t matter what camera I use.
    We have 3 different ones
    Sony Hvr-A1e, Trv950 E, Pdx 10p
It doesen´t matter what computer I use. Right now we use imac 2.8 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. I have tried with PC the same problem.
We always upgrade the Premiere program.
It doesen´t matter if I record Dv Sp or HDV. The same problem.
The process looks normaly like this.
Record in Dv SP Ns48k or HDV1080i
    Sequence Presets
    Dv PAL Widescreen 48khz
    or
    HDV  1080i25 (50i)
What makes it even more confusing is that sometimes we capture 30 min in premiere and then when you play it in VLC it is not out of sync but it is in premiere???
I have seen Threads about this but no solution.
Everything works fine if we record shortclips and export less then 10minutes but when we try with longer projects 30 minutes or longer it have NEVER worked. That is the most strange thing. If it works with short projects It can´t be my settings that are wrong or???
    Sorry for my terrible English

Unfortunatly I can´t find this program for mac but maybe there are something similiar "out there".
Strange that Adobe can´t fix this???
    Thank you anyway! :-)

  • Video Sync Problem after 3.2.2

I just updated to 3.2.2 and I am having problems with videos and syncing videos. Videos that I have taken off still show on the ipad, others videos have lost their preview picture on the ipad and actually show a shot from a video that was removed or shows a white image of a monitor. Videos that were once on it won't sync to the ipad. Also when I touch videos I first see a screen that says updating library then it goes to the movies/tv shows screen.
I will call support in the morning but is anyone else having a problem?
    thanks

    No issues here.
Have you turned it off, then back on again?

  • Audio and video sync problem using itunes player

When I play a movie using itunes it starts out okay but after a few minutes the audio and the video are no longer in sync. Anyone have a solution for this problem
    Dennis

    I have the same problem.
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA785GPMT-UD2H
    Chipset:
    North Bridge: AMD 785G
    South Bridge: AMD SB710
Video: Integrated ATI Radeon HD 4200
HDMI Audio through the HDMI out port to one of the TV HDMI in port.
Tried on Windows 7 Pro 32bit and Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit.
Tried with the integrated ALC889A audio device enabled and disabled (It seems that the video card drives the HDMI audio device, because it still appears in Windows even if I disable the Audio device in BIOS).
    Latest iTunes and drivers installed.
Apple, any suggestions? I'm not having a great customer experience after buying a pair of HD movies in iTunes.

  • Video sync problem with nvidia quadro fx cards, edge blending on.

when I start edge blending feature of my nvidia quadro fx 3500 driver on 2 projectors, quicktime goes out of synchronization between audio and display. it's not directly related with framerate cuz my own opengl application with quicktime sdk, renders with 300+ fps succesfully but still the video is out of sync...

    Hi there, welcome to forum.
    "*Update*
I have a feeling that my PSU might be causing the low performance, seeing that the Quadro requires two power connectors to attach to it: (http://www.pny.com/support/quadro/install/FX4000AdditionalPowerRequirements.pdf)
    Here is my PSU:
    http://www.xpcgear.com/500wseepsubl.html
I do not know much about PSU's, so any input is greatly appreciated.  Thanks."
your PSU is good one and should be powerfull enough.
    Output    +3.3V@28A, +5V@30A, +12V@34A, [email protected], [email protected], +5VSB@2A
can't be power related, since at 1st your PSU must be enough, 2nd same issue happend with your old mx 440 VGA. card malfunction are dismissed as possibility as well since its work fine in another machine.
think its drivers mess. ATI drivers(or part of them) still exist, guess is not completely removed. same symptoms happend many times when switching between Ati to NV, lagging 2D scrolling lag and etc, caused by ATI Smart (part of ATI Drivers) sometimes remain(survive after driver cleaner).
suggest you a new clean fresh OS installation. like Nv support already directed. also ensure in BIOS, in "Integrated Peripherals", "Init Display First" are configured to AGP.
let we know how its going, if problem persist we a ready with a tips to resolve your issue.

  • Video Sync problems

I am having some major synching problems.  I have a few videos and a few slides with animation and narration.  When I am playing my project from a computer with a slower internet connection, the video will pause and resume after skipping a portion, followed by animations on the same slide as the video that are now out of sync with the video, and then on the next slide it will continue the audio from the video that skipped in the previous slide, over the narration from the next slide.  I read about the stiched audio track that comes from continuous audio, so I put at least .5 seconds before and after each video and audio track on the slide, but that doesn't fixed the problem.  I am using Connect Pro, not sure if that is an issue.  Any suggestions?

Are you running the latest update patch for Captivate 5?  That was reputed to fix some audio issues.  Not sure if it will fix yours, but certainly worth a try.
Are you saying that the synching problems only occur when you deliver your content via Connect Pro?  Does the content play fine from another location such as a web server with good bandwidth? If so, perhaps your issues could be connected with your delivery from Connect.
