Imported album not listed

I imported a new album from a CD, but iTunes does not show it.  It's there - finder locates it with the rest of the music - but it doesn't show up in the listing.
If I try to import the CD again, iTunes tells me it's already there.  If I select "replace it", it still doesn't list it.
The only thing unusual about this album - so far as I know - is that it has only one hour-plus-long track.  Also, when I first loaded it, gracenote found three possible matches, two of which had the same - correct - name.  I chose the first.
I've not listed iTunes and OS versions because I doubt it's important.  This can't be the first time this has ever happened to anyone.
I'll be very grateful for any thoughts.

Well I've not seen this problem personally, but I read post people suggest it is fixed by making a purchase from the store or downloading the single of the week. Why that should be any different from just adding a new track to the library I've no idea.
I guess you could scan your library with iTunes Folder Watch (enable its option to check for dead tracks on startup) then you could see if it thinks there is a mismatch between your library and your media folders.
Reinstalling iTunes won't hurn, but it won't fix an internat issue with the database. Building a fresh database would lose stats like ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and iTunes would see itself as "new" with respect to the iPad and would want to wipe out all the data and start over.
What's this with Windows Vista iTunes and iTunes on the server? I'm not making any sense out of that statement.

For the missing Artists on your iPod, make sure their tracks in iTunes are not marked as "Part of a compilation" in iTunes. You can do this by highlighting the track, right->clicking on them and choosing "Get Info" from the shortcut menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Info tab and make sure there is NO tick mark next to this option in the lower right hand corner. Lastly, sync the updated changes to your iPod.

  • Songs from same album not listing as within one album

Okay, here's a problem that's kind of strange. I already owned an album, bought on CD, that I have imported into iTunes. I later wanted to make one of the songs into a ringtone for the iPhone, which you can only do with stuff bought from iTunes, so I purchased the song, figuring I would just add it into the album. I changed all of the information to be the exact same between the ones I'd imported and this song from iTunes, and it sorts correctly when sorted by "Artist," but if sorted by "Album by Artist," it moves the downloaded song to being from another album, though it's the exact same, and it Coverflow it also lists them as two seperate albums though they are not.
Is there a way to get iTunes to recognize that these tracks are from the same album or is this just an anoyance I will have to deal with?
    Thanks.

In short, there are two possibilities: either you didn't actually get the information identical, or iTunes is slightly confused. Both happen to me pretty regularly.
If you have iTunes keeping your music organized, there's an easy check: pick one of the songs, right click, select Show In Finder. Is your new purchased song in the same folder as the CD you imported? If not, the information is definitely different. The most recent time this happened to me, the imported CD had the "Compilation" box checked.
Next thing: select all of the songs from the album - the imported CD and the purchased song. Right click one of them, select Get Info (or choose Get Info from the File menu). The artist, album artist (if there is one), and the album title, should all be showing. If not, it means that one of those values isn't actually the same for all the tracks.
After that's all fixed up, it's time to blame iTunes. In that case, make a small change to the artist, album artist, and album name. I just add an X to the end of the name. Click OK, and hopefully now the tracks will all be grouped the way you expect. Get Info again and put the names back the way they belong.
    Good luck!

  • Some albums not listed under artist.

Some albums appear in the Albums list but not in the Artist/Album submenu.
eg; I have 2 albums by Sigur Ros but only one shows when I go:
    Artist/Sigur Ros - Album.
    I only see one.
I see both under the Album list.
    Any thoughts appreciated...

It could be that you have inadvertently imported these CDs into iTunes as part of a compilation. If so, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.
To check, highlight the tracks on one of the offending artists CDs in iTunes, right click and select "get info". This brings up a multiple song info window, and from there you can check if you have 'yes' in the box marked "part of a compilation".
If you have, select 'no' instead and click 'ok'. Do this with any CD that has this issue. This will alter the info in iTunes, and you should then connect your iPod and synchronize the changes.
The problem arises because the information contained on the Gracenote CD Data Base (where iTunes gets all it's album/artist/track info from), is sometimes incorrect. It can show CDs as compilations when in fact they are not.

  • Newly imported albums not showing up on aTV

I am running iTunes 9.0 on a Mac Mini and aTV 2.4. I do not store any content physically on the aTV drive. I stream everything wirelessly from iTunes. All of the albums, artists, etc. that were in my iTunes library when I first set up my aTV are showing up in the My Music section of my aTV; however, I just added a few new albums to my iTunes library and they are not showing up anywhere on the aTV. I would think that the aTV would automatically refresh its list to mirror what is in my physical iTunes library on the Mac Mini, but obviously it is not doing that. How do I get it the aTV to refresh what it's list so that my new imports show up?
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Photo Stream album not listed. I have to go to iCloud to access it. ?

Trying to add photos to my photo stream. I originally have a Photo Stream on my old PC, which is now in the closet. I have all my photos on my mac. How do I access my Photo Stream? In my iPhoto, it only shows up when I go into iCloud. I don't have the little"flower" album. Does it exist anymore? I have to go into iCloud under the "shared" area where iPhoto is located. How can I get that album to show up? Do I need to access my old PC remove it and start over in Mac?

The "Shared > iCloud" item in iPhoto's Source List is the only place, where you will be seeing your Photo Stream on a Mac, that is correct.

  • How do I keep imported albums featuring various artists in one list?

I'm new to iTunes and have not figured out how to create a single library listing when importing CD's that feature various artists. iTunes always creates separate library listings for each artist, spreading them across the library in alphabetical order. I can make a single playlist from all of the library listings, but I'd rather that the album just lists as a single listing in the library. (the song order gets messed up)
Has anyone figured out how to accomplish this? Many thanks in advance.

As Zevoneer pointed out, first thing to do is select all the tracks in the compilation album, do a Get Info and make sure they are checked off as "Part of a Compilation".
Next all you have to do is click on the "Album" heading and it will change to Album By Artist, then clicking again Album By Year and one more time brings you back to Album.
As it turns out, both the Album by Artist and Album by Year sort by artist first in the list then either by album name (Album By Artist) or the Year (Album by Year).
Finally, go into Preference and in the main (General) tab there is a check box for "Group Compilation while browsing". Check this box.
Now if you sort by the other two "Album" sorts (by artist or by year), your main library will be listed by artist alphabetically. Then within each artist the albums but alphabetical or by year. And finally, if you scroll down to the bottom your list, you will find your compilation albums grouped nicely together by album rather than scattered all over the library.
    Cheers,
    Patrick

  • Why do all my artist albums not display in the list format but do when i look at albums

When I list my songs by artist not all of the albums are listed for some people, but when I turn my phone sideways all the missing albums do show up with album covers and the songs.  What can I do to fix this?

I'm still not sure that I understand what you have done.

To me, that suggests that you copied the music from the hard drive to the iPod directly, as well as importing the songs into your iTunes Library. The usual method is import the songs into your Library and then use iTunes to copy them onto the iPod. Do you see the difference?
So - if the songs are not in your iTunes Library, you need to sort that out. Once you know they are in your Library, then use iTunes to put a copy onto the iPod.

  • IPod not listing artist from compilation album

I have had my experience w/ Apple products and iPods before and this has NEVER happened to me ever. I just got a new-ish iPod classic from someone else and when I synced all my music from my iTunes to my iPod, ONE of the artists is NOT listed under "artists". I then proceeded to find the artist using other methods, such as albums, and I found the album, however, underneath it it said "Various artists". I then checked "various artists" under artists and I didn't find that either. Everything is perfect on my iTunes though... the band and songs are listed in alphabetical order like they normally should and nothing is missing. But it's just when I go to my iPod to look for that particular band I don't even see the name!
Anyone know what's going on? I checked and looked for everything several times; I know I don't have bad eyesight lol.

  • Where is the photo tab on itunes? My device is not listed on the left side of my screen and there is no photos tab on the right of my screen. I want to delete photo albums that were synced through itunes to my ipad 3.

I synced several photo albums to my iPad 3  from my computer through iTunes. Now, I would like to remove them and have discovered that they cannot be removed except through using iTunes. Instructions that I've read say that once the device is connected to and selected from the list in iTunes, select the Photo Tab and then the folder that contains the photos etc.  I never get that far because I do not have a Photo Tab to select in iTunes. How do I find this illusive tab so that I can delete these albums that are merely duplications of other pictures and are just occupying space. I need to get rid of them. Can anyone help me find the photo tab. I cannot move past that step until I do. Also, my device is not listed on the left side as stated in the instructions. It's in the bar on the upper right area of my screen and is automatically selected when connected. I am using the current version 11.1 for iTunes and IOS 7 on my iPad 3, if that helps.

I have the same problem on the latest iTunes software and Windows 7. My window is maximzed and I do not see any tab for photos. Seems related to a recent update (IOS7?) as this was there - at least before the very big change to the interface.

  • My internal "A" drive is not listed as an import destination

    I have 7 internal drives/partitions labledl a, c, f, i,k,, L and n
In LR 2 I had no issues importing directly to the A drive. For some reason, LR 3 does not list my "A" drive is as an import destination. It allows me to hit the + sign and
"add" a new folder. But I am actually just clicking through the folders until I get to the folder on the A drive that I need.  After import that destination is still not reflected in the choices.
I can change the drive letter but before I go through that effort (it affects other programs too) I wanted to see if anyone had a work around.
I am guessing this is a bug. LR may not look for drive starting with a or b since they precede the typical system drive letter of C. Not sure why but I am just guessing here.
    Anyone?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Importing a list of customers - Company not listed

Hello. I've imported a contacts list using the method instructed by BC shown here, http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/kb/customer-records.html#id_9773  I created a Tab Delimited file with 5 columns :email, title, first name,  last name, and company name, and it has uploaded successfully and the contacts all appear in the Customers list, but the Company name has not been included with the customer's details, it has been given a separate entry. Why is this? And am I able to make it so that all of the data gets listed together?
    Grant

    Hi Grant.
That is the expected behavior. Company is always listed separately and contacts are associated with the company.

When using the Import Wizard to import personal and inbox documents from BO 6.5.3, the documents are not listed in the Import summary and are not found.  I've read various posts on BOBJ, etc and have attempted the suggestiopns with both an account that exists and one that doesn't exist in XI.  I've also attempted with selecting a corporate document in the mix, but no deal.  It's like the wizard cannot see the files, even though I navigate directly to the folder they're in.  Anyone have any suggestions????

I love it when the solution is this simple   According to BO tech support, the Inbox and Personal documents WILL NOT be listed in the Summary page, but they WILL be imported. After clicking the Finish button (even though the reports aren't listed), you'll then see the documents listed when the Import Wizard fires up. It worked for me and Inbox and Personal documents came across fine.
