Imported audio has green line and goes out of sync.

What the heck is FCP doing to my audio!!!
I render out a movie and treat it in After Effect (no speed changes) and bring the movie back into FCP in a new seq, I then take the audio exported from the same original seq the video was exported from in FCP and it is out of sync! It drifts, and has the green line on if meaning to me that FCP is changing it in some way, this is PAL 48k and was always PAL 48k.
The only way I can get the audio to sync is to render out a whole movie again and just use the sound from it, then it is in sync with my original.
Any one know what is up?
Also, when I import from an aif captured in Pro Tools the waveform is not in sync with the sound I am hearing! This also has a green line on it when placed in the timeline as if the sample rate is not correct but it is 48K in a 48k seq.

Hi JohnDoe2009 - firstly, extracting the audio is not necessary in your case. Simply mute the video's audio, by reducing its level to zero - that is what actually happens when you extract the audio, after all.
It is my experience also, that locking audio clips to particular video clips is not fail-safe if further cropping is done afterwards, especially if that cropping is fairly substantial. Where possible, do the syncing after all crop-editing has been completed.
As a last check I always review the syncing before finalising the movie.

  • HDV sequence has green lines and pink dots after export

I digitized some HDV footage from a Sony HVR-VIU into Final cut Pro 7. Everything worked normally through the edit. After exporting the sequence as a quicktime movie, it played back fine as a quicktime. When I attempted to convert it to a media file in Sorenson Squeeze, the file showed up with green lines and pink dots over the picture. To test it differently, I dropped the file into IDVD. Same, result in playback. I've never seen anything like this before, any ideas?

Brad your article was extremely helpful in getting my sequence to work for a DVD. However, I've had success before using the same camera, format, etc., in making DVD's from an HDV sequence, and I'm curious as to what I did wrong this time. The most confusing part to me is that the original quicktime self-contained export played fine through quicktime, but got funky when placed into IDVD and Sorenson's Squeeze compressor. I must have done something wrong up front in digitizing or making settings in FCP, and I'd like to know what it was so I don't do it in the future. Thanks.

  • Audio locked at playhead, but goes out of sync if video is cropped

    Hi,
Using iMovie HD 6, I have the audio locked at playhead, but if I crop part of the video (beginning or ending), the audio goes out of sync.
    Here's what I've done:
    1) Extracted audio from video
    2) Silenced this audio
    3) Imported audio from audio recorder (Edirol R-09HR)
    4) Synced the imported audio
*5) Attempted to crop part of the video footage in the timeline... goes out of sync
How do I keep the audio in sync when cropping video?
    Thanks!

  • Why do my audio files constantly corrupt and slip out of sync?

Whether using .caf or .aif (no MP3 audio), I get this strange issue were audio is randomly slipping out of sync.  If I use the slip tool to scrub the audio track, I can usually hear an audible digital hit in the file.  For example, I placed an explosion sound effect in the timeline and it plays back fine... then one time I'll notice the explosion is missing, but the media is still in the timeline.  Level is up.  Track is on.  If I scrub the piece of media, I may find the explosion at a later point in the audio as if copy pasted there... or I'll hear some digital hits that sound like something has been corrupted...  but at the originally intended "in" point, the explosion has simply "moved."  Happens with pieces of music, too.  I'll time something to a flourish and the flourish is missing at some point down the road and I have to do a matchframe overcut to get a new render that matches what I originally intended.  Also have to remember to copy any effects/levels and paste to the newly overcut audio.  A royal pain.
Only temporary solution has been to trash all audio renders and re-render the entire sequence.  Not a permanent fix as the problem appears again and again.  It's really frustrating (and scary) because I now no longer trust that all my audio is playing as intended without first dumping all audio render files and re-rendering.  Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    -A

Thanks for your reply... no, there doesn't seem to be any consistent number of frames skipped. Random pieces of audio simply simply decide to play audio from elswhere in the media.  Clicking on the waveform reveals a clear glitch of some kind... it's as if someone scrambled the media, chunks of audio in the wrong place, etc.  If I go to the original media in the bin and double-click, it plays fine.  I matchframe/overcut  re-render) and it usually fixes it, temporaririly or for good.  Sometimes I have to dump ALL renders and re-render the whole sequence.  It's driving me nuts.
I should explain that I am using up to 30 audio tracks at a time.  My machine can handle it fine, but I guess this complexity is causing problems?  The reality is, even if all audio was 48khz, there would still be a need to render because of all the layers...
I guess I should start by replacing all 44.1 khz audio with 48.1k audio and see if that fixes it...

The Mid 2010 15-inch MacBook Pro problems are related to kernel panics, so the GPU is still working. In the case of the OP, the GPU has stopped working completely, so his/her problem doesn't belong to the kernel panic problem, so the OP may have to pay. I may be wrong.
Also, the 10.8.4 update won't help as this is a hardware problem, but it's always good to keep OS X updated

  • Video and audio goes out of sync when imported into Premiere

I have some videos ripped from some DVD that an acquaintance made, with an open source program called HandBrake, with the default "high profile" settings. When I play it both in VLC and in Quicktime, it plays just fine, but when I import it either in Premiere or in After effects, the video and audio goes out of sync (the video ran faster than the audio and when the video stops, the missing audio is trimmed).
Video info according to Premiere (in Spanish but you may get the meaning).

"HandBrake, these days, is almost entirely about H.264 video, aka MPEG-4 Part 10.  HandBrake is migrating to quality-based encoding."
Hmmm.  I use HC Encoder to make my DVDs because it's the only free encoder I've found with the much more professional Constant Q encoding option.  But HC Encoder doesn't do HD sources for Blu-ray, so I've been wondering if I'd be stuck with the lame-*** consumer CBR and VBR options most encoders provide (including Adobe - hint, hint) when I eventually start working in HD.  This is a very interesting program, Handbrake.  I will have to check it out.

  • AME - Converting to MP4 and different FPS - audio goes out of sync

    As described in the title.
    I'm reencoding a 1920x1080 29,97 fps video into a 1280x720 60 fps video. Audio is AAC 44100 stereo.
Basicly a task that many of those free converters on Windows do smoothly. I use Mac...
I'm surprised that it goes out of sync, like 3-4 secs EARLY sound on a span of 2 mins video.
    Settings here:
    AME CS6 Fully updated
    source: 1920x1080 29,97fps MP4 with AAC 44100hz audio
    Target:
    Codec: H264
    Saves as : MP4
    1280 x 720
    60 fps Progressive - NTSC
    CBR VBR1 VBR2 doesn't matter
    Max rendering quality
Codec Audio AAC 44100hz (as source)
    Any ideas ?

Because we stream at 60 fps and we have to convert all the materials we receive from our partners from the usual 29,97 to 60.
    Thanks for your MVPaluable help.

  • Audio And Video out of sync in Final Cut, but not in quicktime

I heave searched the forums to no end to find the solution to this issue, unfortunatley, I have not solved the problem.
I am using Final Cut 4.5 on a G4 running OSX 10.3.4. This system has worked perfectly for years with no problems. Neither the system, hardware, or software has ever been changed on this machine. Suddenly last week, despite perfect sync while previewing the capture, the Audio and Video were of sync in Final Cut, but when checked in quicktime, there were no problems. That is how I eventually figured out this was a final cut problem.
By out of sync, I don't mean it is by a specific number of frames that can be adjusted and then everything is fine, the sync seems to drift so that if you edit the audio to be in sync in one part of the video, it won't be at the end. Also, it is out of sync from the first frame played, not a gradual drift.
This is definitely not an issue of frame rates or final cut settings as will be evident by the steps I took below to find the source of this problem.
This is what I did to attempt to fix the problem:
    - Check drives using disc utility and repair permissions
    - Remove Final Cut Preferences using Apple guidelines
    - Switch hard drives
    - Delete Final Cut and reinstall newer version of final cut (since the capture files played fine on Final Cut 5.1 on another machine)
    - reinstall entire OSX 10.3.9, wiping the hard drive and reinstalling Final Cut 5.1
    - switch ram slots, and even replace ram with different sticks from another G4 machine
None of these solutions worked. Is there some hardware problem with my G4 that is suddenly causing Final Cut to play audio and video out of sync?
Hope you can help, otherwise this otherwise great G4 is going in the dumpster!
    Thanks

For what it's worth, I'm having what looks to be the same problem. Driving me insane. Here's what's going on-
    Editing in FCP 6.0.2
QT was just updated to 7.3.1 the other day (hmm)
On an MacBookPro machine, OS 10.5.1
Software updater says everything's up to date of course.
    DV-NTSC 24p (23.98) Advanced Pulldown Removal (footage was shot at 24PA on a DVX100b)
In Quicktime, the file previews fine, everything's in sync, everyone's happy. In FCP, the video and audio are wildly out of sync. I did a test inside of quicktime and sliced out a small portion of the media clip and did a "save as" and this small slice played in sync in FCP. However, this did not work for the entire clip. Clip is weighing in at 5.58GB for a 32 minute run.
I'm trying to multicam 2 tapes together and manually syncing these up is proving to be difficult at best. When anyone gets any ideas/leads/patches, let us know.

  • When audio goes out of sync..

In FCP7, when audio goes out of sync with the video track it came from (even when they are unlinked), a red warning box is displayed on the audio track and tells you how far out of sync it is, which easily enables you to resync.
Well, in FCX my audio went out of synce, but i didn't know it until i played back a segment i was working on, where i spliced two audio tracks and video tracks together. Right now i'm trying to fix the one audio track so that is synced up with its parent video track, but so far i'm just guessing that it's a good sync rather than knowing FOR SURE whether or not it's truly synced back up.
Is there any kind of work around, which enables you to resync in a manner similar to  before FCPX?
    Thanks

I am not sure if your problem has been solved already but here is the way to do that:
select in the clip in the timeline the part were the audio should be return in sync. use the blade-tool to make that part a seperate clip.
Higlight this clip in the timeline and use shift-F to highlight this clip in the browser. There it wil show up partially of course.
Use only the audio and put that part under the selected clip in the timeline where you need the original audio. remove the original out-of-sync audio.

  • Audio is/goes out of sync

    Hi guys,
Brand new user to Premiere Pro CS 5.5
I took some clips off my Galaxy Nexus that I shot the other day and wanted to cut them into a short video so I imported them into Premiere.
When I play them in Premiere the audio appears to be in sync at the very beginning of the video but as it progresses through it seems to be worse and worse out of sync as it goes along. Even in a short 1 minute clip.
When I play these raw video files in something like XBMC or the standard Windows 8 media player, or even just on my phone there don't see to be any problems with the audio/video being out of sync what so ever.
I tested this out with several random clips recorded on my phone and it seems ALL of them are doing this in Premiere no matter the duration of the video.
Why is this happening and how do I prevent/correct it?
    Thank you

  • HELP!  Audio goes out of sync after export!

OK, folks. I need your help. I have a looming deadline of THIS FRIDAY to hand this in.
I have a finished multicam edit of a show that runs 1 hr 20 min. It plays back perfectly in the timeline, all video and audio perfectly in sync. Looks and sounds exactly like what I need.
When I export the video as an H.264 file, the audio gets out of sync with the video by 13 frames! But that's not all... It doesn't happen to the entire audio track. There's about 50 minutes in the middle of the video where the audio goes out of sync. The audio at the beginning and ending of the video is lined up perfectly in sync. It's just the middle section that gets screwy.
    What do I do?!
This has never happened before, and I've worked a lot with multicam in Premiere Pro CC before this. Never been an issue. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere, and also deleting all media cache files, but still no dice.  I also tried copying the clips into a new sequence in the same project, copying the clips into a new sequence in a NEW project, nesting the sequence... nothing works.
    My setup:
    MacBook Pro Retina (Rev. A)
    Premiere Pro CC (latest version)
Panasonic GH3 footage in 1080p 24p AVCHD timeline
3 cameras & 1 audio WAV file in Multicam
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK, I figured out how to fix it:
In Premiere Pro CC, click on SEQUENCE > DELETE RENDER FILES.
    Try exporting the movie again.
It worked! I exported the same sequence, and it took a long while to re-render the audio files, but when it was finished exporting the audio and video were in perfect sync. I'm not sure what caused it, but this fixed it, so hopefully anyone else having this issue can save a lot of time by reading this.
    Cheers!
