Imported audio is faster than song, how do I slow it's playback

Greetings Apple Discussions:
I have GarageBand 2. I have imported an audio (human voice) file which plays at a faster tempo or rate than the song I am mixing. Is there any way to slow it down to match the rate or tempo of my song. The song is 120 BPM.
I have tried to edit it in Soundtrack, to no avail.
Thanks
Aubrey

Not an easy thing to do. Here's something you can try, but don't get your expectations too high.
Figure out what the BPM of your audio file is. Set the GarageBand song to that tempo. Import that audio file. Press control-option-g and then click anywhere in the timeline. Now set your song back the the tempo you actually want.

  • Import Audio Channels from another Song? How to??

    Hello,
    I recorded a couple of songs with a real drumset. I mixed the first song and created a lot of channel->bus->aux->bus routing for the drumset with compressors, eqs, space designers etc. So all my drums running thru the busses, fx, etc, to one final bus. I used 12 audio tracks, 11 busses and 5 auxes to do that. The drumsound is quite nice, and because we recorded all songs with the same drumset and miking, I want to have that routing in all the other songs (arranges) too, where we have already recorded all the different guitars and stuff.
    Here is my problem:
    How to copy that set of audio-tracks, busses and auxes to the other songs???
    Saving all channels as channel strips and reload them in the other songs is a lot of work, because it doesent remember the levels and pannings, and in most of the other songs I have not all the needed auxes and busses in the audio-environment. sometimes, they are already used by other instruments (guitars, etc...)
    I tried to simply copy and paste the desired channels (audio objects) but than they have not the right plugins and settings: they keep their "old" settings from that song I want to copy the drums-channels into.
    I tried to delete all these objects before (Audio Track 12 to 24, busses 1 to 8 and 17 to 19, auxes 1 to 5) in the destination-song, but they still have the "old" settings after beeing copied.
    Logic manual: Aha! Import environment!!
    I copied all the desired drums-channels to a new layer, saved that song.
    Opened the destination song, options->import environment->layer...
    Uups: Still the wrong settings: I dont want DeEssers on my toms!!!
    I tried to import environment->merge, but then i got really big chaos. Lots of useless channels, still the wrong settings...
    I clicked undo:
    Uuuuups!!! All my channels are gone, the whole arrangement is set to "No Output" objects... :-((
    Tried again with import envirmonment->update: less chaos, but still the wrong settings. DeEssers on Toms. Grrrr!
    About two hours passed now without success just to do that simple thing: How can i copy my audio-channels to the other songs???
    any help is greatly appreciated!

    Thanx to the northpole for reply!
    I think the folders only contains audio/midi regions but no information about the assigned environment objects like busses, auxes, etc...
    I dont want to copy the audio regions, just the mixer setup with the specific channels and busses.

  • Why does audio run faster than video after burning my iMovie project in iDVD?

    I created a project in iMovie HD and shared it to iDVD 6. When I played the finished disc, I noticed that the audio ran much faster than the video. I rechecked my movie and audio clips in iMovie to make sure they were matched correctly, and I saw no problem there. I burned the disc again through iDVD and got the same problem when I played it in a DVD player.
    I have never had this problem before and I've been working on dvd projects all week. I think the only difference with this movie project is that I had movie clip audio and background audio playing at the same time at some parts of the movie, but I don't know if that's the issue.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi
    And just to add to OT-s brilliant suggestions - really - Do a Save as a DiskImage ! IMPORTANT !
    • When free space goes down on the Start-Up hard disk to 5Gb or less - strange things occurs - Yes even audio out of sync - to not working DVD at all.
    I secure a minimum of 25Gb free space when using SD-video to iDVD - if HD material I would guess 4-5 times more as it has to be re-calculated into SD and this needs space.
    DVD - is as standard SD-Video (as old time CRT-TVs) - even if You use DVD-Studio Pro or iDVD or Roxio Toast™ - That's what it is and using HD material doesn't improve a bit (may be even give a lesser result)

    I'm using Sonar 2.2 and when I use My Audigy 2NX USB2 with 2 audio tracks,
    I'm recording on the second one while listening the first one :
    -No problem with my AC/97 sound card
    - Problem occur with my audigy 2 NX (Sampled audio becomes faster (Timing not adequate) while listening to the recording , the first 0 seconds seems in exact timing, then after I feel that the recorded begins to take speed and then ends second before the track one !!!
    I Solved the problem partially by using CoolEdit instead of Sonar and in the Setting-Multitrack Tab, i activated "correct for drift in recording"

    First try to play your video on the PC. Use Quicktime 7 and it should work.
    If it does the same thing on the PC then the video encoding has created this problem. Nothing wrong in the phone. You will need to re-encode. May I enquire as to which software you are using to encode?
    If it plays correctly on the PC then your best bet is to lower the bitrate or the frame rate of the video, re-encode, transfer and try again.
    I recommend using h263 as the video codec as this will be "safer" to use. Try 3gp extension format as well.
    640K Should be enough for everybody

  • How can I slow down the playback speed of selected parts of a captivate video?

    Hi everybody,
    I'm pretty new to Captivate and although it offers some great tools, there is something that I just can't get to work:
    I'm creating a video tutorial about how to use a website i'm working with so I've tried using "Automatic" ("Demo" mode chosen) recording option which is recommended for this type of video. However, the video recorded has a different playback speed than the amount of time I recorded. This means that some of the slides have a quicker playback speed than the way I recorded, thereby not leaving enough time to show the given feature.
    The recording mode with the most "true" playback was "Full motion". However, I would still like to be able to slow down selected parts of the video, but can only find guides on how to slow down the entire presentation.
    Can you please advise me on how to slow down only selected parts of the project? If this is not possible in Captivate, please advise me on which video editing software (where you can slow down the playback speed on selected parts of the video) is compatible with Captivate 5?
    Thanks!

    Thank you. Andrew Kramer's Video Copilot video, which I somehow managed to miss, was very helpful.
    I had a 79 second clip which I precomposed and enabled time remapping. But I have 12 places where I need to slow down the layer. After a while, I was runing out of room to add more keyframes using the method promoted in many videos and instruction sites (grab the last two keyframes, including the end frame, and drag).
    In reality, you can add keyframes wherever you like and you can adjust them however works best within the existing timeline without messing with the duration, etc.
    Much appreciated.

  • How do I slow down video playback in quicktime 10.0?

      I'm running OS 10.6.8.
    I tried going to the Window dropdown menu, but there is no option for A/V controls, as in other types of quicktime.  Also, I cannot download the other versions of quicktime (such as 7.x) from the website because QT 10.0 is installed.  Any suggestions?  Alternatively, does anyone else know of a good software I can use to play a mp4 file at 0.8x speed?

    I tried going to the Window dropdown menu, but there is no option for A/V controls, as in other types of quicktime.
    QT X does not have an A/V control feature.
    Also, I cannot download the other versions of quicktime (such as 7.x) from the website because QT 10.0 is installed.  Any suggestions?
    You are attempting to download QT 7 for Leopard. You must download the QT Player app that is compatible with the QT structure embedded in Snow Leopard (or Lion) operating system. You will find the player application for Mac OS 10.6.3 and later HERE and the instructions for installation, if needed, HERE. Remember that this version of QT 7 is installed in the "Applications > Utilities" folder.

  • "tp import all" runs 24 times faster than "tp import TR "  for long queue?

    After a test upgrade to ECC 6.0, I processed 1200 individual transports in 12 hours. When I rebuilt the queue of 1200 transports and processed "tp import all", it completed in 30 minutes.
    Should I expect "tp import all" to process 24 times faster than individual imports?
    800 transports were client independent (code) and 400 transports were client-specific (configuration).
    What run times have you seen?
    What problems with "tp import all" have you seen?
    Best regards,
    Gary Sherwood

    Hi Gary
    You don't know the 800 transports which are wating for the import, what could be render your system in case of import all. so, that's why , i will prefer to you import individual request instead of import all.
    offcourse, Import all are faster than the individual because it prepare all steps once to start import,

  • Does JMF support RTP packets being sent "Faster than real time"?

    I have a situation where some stored audio is passed to a speech recogniser using RTP. This is all working well with JMF. However, since this operation is "offline" (i.e. no live person is actually speaking or hearing this audio stream) and the recognizer is capable of processing the audio very quickly, then the RTP stream could be sending the audio in "faster than real time". What settings in the following components would allow this?
    DataSource _dataSource = Manager.createDataSource(source);
    Processor _processor = Manager.createProcessor(_dataSource);
    TrackControl[] trackControls = _processor.getTrackControls();
    Codec codec[] = new Codec[3];
    codec[0] = new com.ibm.media.codec.audio.rc.RCModule();
    codec[1] = new com.ibm.media.codec.audio.ulaw.JavaEncoder();
    codec[2] = new com.sun.media.codec.audio.ulaw.Packetizer();
    ((com.sun.media.codec.audio.ulaw.Packetizer) codec[2]).setPacketSize(160);
    _processor.realize();
    DataSource dataOutput = _processor.getDataOutput();
    SendStream _sendStream = _rtpManager.createSendStream(dataOutput, 0);
    _sendStream.start();
    _processor.start();I tried "setRate" on the processor but this had no effect. getRate showed that it was still 1.0
    Best Regards,
    Jamie

    I wrote my own RTP client in about an hour - (seemed simpler than navigating JMF options). It is very basic, but works as I want. The RTP server (the speech recognizer it able to consume the stream and gives exactly the same results).

  • How can I get tracks to play faster than normal speed in itunes?

    I have lectures, audio books, and other recordings that I would like to play at faster than normal speed (like 1.5X or 2X normal speed).   I've set all of these recordings as audio books because I read that they have the option to play faster, but, I can't find how to actually make them play faster.  I also read that it's possible to open them in quicktime, but that is very much less than ideal and a waste of time.  Surely there is a way to do this in itunes, but I can't figure it out.
    Thanks for any help.

    I will show you how I played my audio or mp3 files at any particular speed. This method will allow you to simply enter in your desired speed.(ex. 1.5 or 1.33)
    In my case Im using an audio book [Lord of the flies] I download off youtube as a MP3 file using this program:
    http://download.cnet.com/MediaHuman-YouTube-to-MP3-Converter/3000-2140_4-7544580 3.html
          First off,  you will need to make sure your audio file is open in QuickTime player rather then iTunes. First you need to locate the audio file. If your audio file is in itunes then right click the file and select "Show in Finder"
         The file should open in a finder window, highlighted. Right click the file, go to "Open With.." And click Quicktime Player. (If quickTime Player is not an option, you need to go to "Other..." and select QuickTime Player from your Applications folder)
    Now that your mp3 file is open in a QuickTime window you may proceed to step 1.
    1) Open Finder
    2) Click Applications
    3) Click Utilities
    4) Open AppleScript Editor
    5) In the program copy and paste the script below.
    6) Click "Compile"
    7) Now to test this script, click "Run" A window should pop up prompting you to enter your desired speed (default is 1.5)
    8) press "OK" and quick time should start playing your audio at the speed you entered in.
    9) If you would like to use this script again, go to File > Save... >Name your AppleScript and save it Anywhere (I saved mine in the Music Folder for easy access)
    tell application "iTunes"
    pause
    set myTrack to location of current track
    # the player’s position within the currently playing track in seconds
    set mySeconds to player position
    end tell
    # show a Dialog
    set SpeedFactor to 1.5
    display dialog "Enter speed factor:" default answer SpeedFactor
    set SpeedFactor to text returned of the result
    tell application "QuickTime Player"
    activate
    # pause all previously opened documents
    set open_docs to documents
    repeat with doc in open_docs
    pause doc
    end repeat
    # open the track just played in iTunes
    open myTrack
    # get the 'QuickTime' document, MyTrack should be equivalent but it isn't
    set MyMovie to first document
    # rewind by 10 seconds
    if mySeconds > 10 then
    set mySeconds to mySeconds - 10
    end if
    # set current time
    set current time of MyMovie to mySeconds
    # set Speed Factor and start playing
    set rate of MyMovie to SpeedFactor
    end tell

  • How to format date faster than SimpleDateFormat

    Hi All,
    Can someone tell me way to format the date faster than SimpleDateFormat.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers!!
    Puneet

    At times when we declare formatter again and again,
    the SimpleDateFormat's performance is less as
    compared to the apache's FastDateFormat..1) Decaring it wouldn't be what makes it slow. Instantiating it would.
    2) As already stated--simply don't instantiate that many of them. Create a few and reuse them.
    3) So what if the other one is faster? Have you run into actual problems with SimpleDateFormat being a bottleneck? A Ferrari is faster than my car, but it makes no significant difference for how I use a car. I would not realize any meaningful speed improvement if I had a Ferrari.
    4) If the other one is faster and it's that buggerall important, then use the faster one.
    . So I was
    trying to find out if Sun has something to solve my
    problem.You can peruse the API docs as well as anybody else.
    I am using the formatting in batch process
    so data to process is huge.Have you found a bottleneck? Have you put a profiler on it? Have you determined that it's the parsing that's causing the problems and that creating is negligible?

    Playback speed in Sample Editor window many, many times faster than track (at correct speed) in arrange area. How do I sync Sample Editor playback speed to correct speed/tempo in arrange area? Track is spoken word. Sample Editor playback sounds like Alvin on a meth binge. Spoken phrase is generated from Textspeech. Textspeech can export files as WAV files or MP3 files. Perhaps a clue?:   When exported Textspeech WAV file is dragged and dropped into track in arrange area of new project, it exhibits same supersonic speed. When Textspeech file is exported as MP3 file and dragged and dropped in arrange area track, it plays at correct speed.

    If nothing else, this huge list of updates and fixes, shows clearly that the Logic Dev team is working hard on fixing and improving LPX to a major degree.... and from the list of fixes done.. show they do read the bug reports submitted!
    As an aside....
    I recall how all the 'naysayers' prior to LPX (and in some cases, since...)  were proclaiming how Logic was dead, the team was being disbanded, we won't see any further development, the Dev team doesn't listen or care... and so on....... I wonder where those people are now?
