Imported bookmark folders from old putor don't show as download options

Went from xp to windows7 new putor, exported bookmarks from FF7 to FF7 on 64bit machine, now when I bookmark a site the folders don't show giving me the option of placing future bookmarks in them.

TOAM:
Do you have rolls activated in the View menu? Can you see the photos in the Last Rolls section of the Source pane?
Those blank windows are indication that iPhoto has lost it's link to the files. In your case both the thumbnails and originals. If the originals can't be located then the rebuild cannot create a new thumbnail. So it looks like you'll have to start with a fresh library and import the original file from your current library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the rolls from the original.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same rolls as the original library. However dates on the rolls may be different but can be edited as you would the roll title.
Once this is completed you can delete the Originals folder from the desktop and the iPhoto Llibrary folder. If desired, you can keep the older library folder to try other fixes on it.
There's one way to get rid of the auto-rotated modified files. Copy the Modified version of it to the Desktop. Then open the Originals folder and locate the same files in that folder's subfolders and replace with the rotated modified version. Now go back to iPhoto and do a revert to original for those files. iPHoto will delete the modified version leaving you with the "modified original" version.

  • Add-on to capture videos from internet that don't have a download link.

Is there an add-on to capture videos from internet that don't have a download link. I am on a Mac.

In general, you don't need drivers for camcorders on Macs, and the .exe file you downloaded is a Windows program, which won't run on a Mac unless you also have Windows installed.
It would help a lot if you tell us the exact model camcorder you are using, and what application you want to use it with.
Regarding iTunes, the latest version is iTunes 11.  You need to have OS X 10.6.8 or later to install iTunes 11.  Your profile says you have OS X 10.4.11, which is a much older version of OS X, so you won't be able to install iTunes 11.  (Here are the iTunes 11 specs.)

Could some one give help and let me know where I can probably find the settings option that allows me to change and switch to previous situation where it was possible to decide time to time how to proceed either opening the file or saving it ??

  • I want to import bookmarks (.json) from my old computer BUT i do NOT want to overwrite the existing bookmarks on my new computer. How can I do this? Other solutions simply restore (i.e., overwrite)...

Windows 7, FF 10.0.2. (The old computer was probably like XP and a very old version of FF...)

All good ideas!! However, here's another twist. There are actually TWO old computers--my old personal laptop and my old work computer--different sets of bookmarks. And no, I don't have access to either computer anymore.
However, it sounds like I can do two iterations of AliceW's suggestion--i.e., Export my current bookmarks, restore first old computer bookmarks, export restored bookmarks, restore second old computer bookmarks, then reimport both created sets to merge into a new super bookmarks. Is that correct?
I think I'll go take a walk in the park first to clear my head... then I'll come back and try it. It sounds quite easy in principle.
Thanks to all!!! I'll let you know how it goes! :)

  • Saving a bookmark into imported bookmark folders

I imported my old bookmarks from Internet Explorter and placed the folders contained within onto the top bar of Firefox (whatever it's called). I then tried to save a new bookmark into one of those folders but can't see the option anywhere! I've tried everything, including searching through the "Display your Bookmarks" dropdown but can't see my imported folders anywhere. They have a complicated structure and I don't wan't to spend loads of time creating new ones. Can you help please?

When you use the Library dialog (Ctrl+Shift+b) you will see there are three top-level "containers" for bookmarks:
    * Bookmarks Menu
    * Bookmarks Toolbar
    * Unsorted Bookmarks
Where did you put your imported bookmarks?
In the Add Bookmark/Edit Bookmark dialog, there are two lists: the button showing the most recently used folder, and the smaller button to the right of that which expands the dialog to let you view the full list of folders. The second button probably will be more useful to start. (Screen shot attached)

  • Correct method to import Mail folders from Tiger to Leopard?

    Guys,
What is the correct method of exporting/importing mail folders/settings from Tiger to Leopard?
    Thx

You're lucky--I can't even open Mail! The icon bounces in the Dock and then quits unexpectedly. (Ditto with iCal). Had horrible Keychain problems after installing Leopard (as an upgrade--I wasn't even given an "archive & install" option. My username and password were being rejected, and I couldn't even install the recommended Software Updates. Tech support guy (for whom I waited 30 min. and then spent an hour with) made things worse--the Unix code he had me type ended up invalidating my account. He then handed me off to a supervisor--for whom I had to wait another 45 min. After another hour, during which the supervisor had me create a new account and attempt to copy and paste the items (42,000) from my old User folder to the new one, he told me that when I was done (it took 2 more hrs) I should log out and log back in. I did and nothing happened--all my previous files and folders were still gone. But I could start Mail, although all it brought up was my mac.com account. So rather than reinitialize and reinstall Leopard, I restored my important files, folders and programs from the external drive to which I'd backed up my previous hard drive (OS 10.4.10)--including Mail and iCal. (I wanted to set up my RCN and Earthlink accounts too). But now I can't even access Mail AT ALL! What happened, and how can I just get a working version of Mail so that I can set it up from scratch? (I am now accessing my mail from an old iBook G4--and I don't want to travel with two computers).

  • How do I import bookmarks etc. from Netscape 8 ?

My Netscape 8 browser would not load, and said it needed Firefox 3 or later to run. When I installed Firefox 4, it was set up independent of the Netscape program, but did not import any of the bookmarks etc. from the old browser. I am running Windows XP.

  • Imported mail library from old Mac to new one ... how to ...

I imported my "mail" and "mail downloads" folders from my old mac's library to my new one ... all my messages are still in there, but im just wondering on how to make them show up in my new mail
    Thanks for any help

You talk about “importing”, but it looks like what you really did was just copying those folders. Also, it looks like you copied the folder where the messages are stored, but not the file where the account settings are stored...
Mail stores most preferences and all account settings in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist (except the passwords, which are stored in the keychain). Everything else, including all your messages and mailboxes, is stored within the ~/Library/Mail/ folder.
If both computers are running the same major version of Mac OS X, copying these (the preferences file and the entire Mail folder) from one computer to the other is all you need to do in order to have an exact copy of all your messages, mailboxes and Mail settings on both computers.
Similarly, Address Book (which you may want to transfer as well) stores the settings in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist and the data in ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/.
In order to avoid potential permissions issues, copy the files operating on the destination computer and while logged in as the user that’s going to use them. Also, be sure the affected applications aren’t running on either computer while doing that.
Alternatively, you may use Migration Assistant:
Transferring data with Setup Assistant / Migration Assistant FAQ
BTW, there is no point in transferring the ~/Library/Mail Downloads folder. The files that Mail puts there are just temporal copies to let you open the attachments in other applications without having to manually save them first. Unless you’ve modified any of those attachments after opening them and haven’t saved them elsewhere, there is nothing in that folder that needs to be preserved. The attachments themselves are kept as part of the messages.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • Import Public Folders from pst file

I am trying to import our Exchange 2007 public folders into our managed Exchange 365 account at Microsoft.  I created the Primary Hierarchy public folder name, PublicFolders, but don't understand how to use pst import to get the public folders
under this main folder.  All I have accomplished thus far is to use Outlook to import the public folders into the administrator Outlook account on the managed Microsoft O365 server.  They import into a folder called IPM_SUBTREE in the administrator
mailbox on the server.  Do I somehow have to move the public folders from there to the actual public folder location?  I really need and appreciate any help.

    Hi,
For this issue, I recommend you post to Office 365 forum which is staffed by more experts, you might get a better help there. Thanks for understanding.

  • Importing Bookmark Folders

I have a Favorites folder in which there are sub-folders with short cuts to web pages in them. The Favorites folder is in Documents and Setting. Clicking on the shortcuts take to to the relevant web page. I believe that these folders and shortcuts were created in IE.
So, can I bring these folders into Firefox bookmarks?

Firefox doesn't deal with individual "favorites" folders from Documents & Settings. You need to '''export in HTML format''' from IE and then '''import''' that file into Firefox. It's all or nothing when it comes to exporting from IE and importing into Firefox, unless you edit the exported HTML file to include only that one folder before importing into Firefox,
    In IE:
File > Import/Export - Export to HTML file
    ''then in Firefox:'' <br />
Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Import HTML... = From HTML file

  • Selectively importing particular folders from iPhoto

    New user to AP.
When one imports the iPhoto library into Ap, how does AP handle images that were in the iPhoto "modified" folder? Does it bring them in as separate master files or as versions of the originals?
Secondly, and assuming the answer above was that AP makes versions from the "modified" folder, can I just bring select folders from iPhoto and still get the versioned files from the modified folder? Or, is the only option to import the whole enchelada. I'd like to bring certain rolls over from iPhoto as projects as reference files without bringing all rolls, still maintaining the originals with modified versions as versioned files in Ap.
LoL. If anyone can answer this question you're awesome for putting up with my confusing description.
I just don't want to import the entire iPhoto library, it's too huge. I need certain rolls with the work I've done, but I also need to maintain the originals.

    I figured it out.
    1. Create a project.
    2. File>import>folders into a project.
    3. Browse to ..iPhoto\Originals\desiredfolder> [select and import with custom name plus counter]
    5. Select the album just created.
    6. File>import>folders into a project.
    7. Browse to ..iPhoto\Modified\desiredfolder> [select and import with custom name plus counter]
Modified pic files will go into the same album and sit side by side with originals.

  • Trouble importing keywords/photos from old version of iPhoto

I'm trying to import photos with their ratings & keywords from my old Mac that has iPhoto version 6.0.6. I copied the iPhoto folder from old Mac to Pictures folder in User on new Mac, then imported that folder from new iPhoto. It only imported a fraction of the photos and none of the keywords or ratings came with.
Help and suggestions are most appreciated!

    There's no importing involved.
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
You do not +import it to the new iPhoto+. You simply open the LIbrary with the new iPhoto and that updates it.
    Regards
    TD
