Imported cd's on itunes, won't drag to device
Basically, I recently had my hard drive wiped clean at the apple store, and I put all my cd's on my itunes and set it to not sync automatically because I don't want to lose my previous songs already on the device. Anyways, it won't allow me to drag songs indivually to my ipod, I tried everything I'm aware of on what to do but maybe need some help from another brain!!
Do you have manually manage music selected?

Computer AND iTunes don't recognize my iPod touch. Comp thinks it is a camera or something. iTunes won't bring up devices at all. I've already uninstalled iTunes and QT and reinstalled after problem that happened when I updated iTunes - updated iTunes completely demolished my computer's ability to recognize the sound card and computer had NO sound at all. I had to uninstall iTunes, QT, AND my sound card and reinstall them all. Sound worked fine, but now I can't sync my iPod. Computer recognizes that "something" is hooked up (thinks it might possibly be a camera) and I get that "open with" window. In "my computer" it shows that there is an "iPod" connected, but it is pictured as a camera. In iTunes my username is no longer appearing (although account info is there) and NO devices whatsoever get listed. There is nothing wrong with my USB ports or cable. And of course Apple won't help anyone unless you pay them to. ... I am getting beyond P/Oed!!! You pay hundreds for a product and all you get are headaches with their stupid bug infested software and no support at all.
Can anyone out there help me clean up this unbelievable mess Apple and iTunes has created in my computer?
Thank you.
EvieAfter three completely wasted days trying to figure all of this out I finally got it fixed - on my own - by reading dozens and dozens of rogue posts in indie forums from people that refuse to dish out money to have a company TRY and advise possible fixes on their own glitches.
(here's a novel idea - fix the glitches Apple. Or - don't send out updates filled with bugs in the first place)
Everything (several applications) had to be uninstalled in a very specific order and then restarted , then it all had to be verified with manual deletions of leftovers, and emptying the recycle bin, then another restart, then iT had to be reinstalled again and the system restarted again, and two more update downloads. Holy!!!
I love my little iPod touch, but I honestly must say, when this kind of thing happens (and it has several times now when I try to deal with iTunes or Apple), it makes me want to flush it down the toilet. -
IPod Touch is disabled. Its says to connect to itunes however itunes won't recognize the device. What do I do?
Place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovery mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore -
Ipod stuck in recovery, and iTunes won't recognize the device.
My ipod is stuck on restore/ recovery mode, and iTunes won't recognize the device. The computer makes the beep noise saying that somethin is plugged in but itunes won't pick it up. It is iTunes 11.1.1 and i have a 5th generation Ipod touch. Any Help? Thanks (:
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Itunes won't detect my devices
Itunes just updated and now it won't detect any devices plugged into the computer, such as our iPhones 5, and 4
Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

My iPhone was working fine yesterday and then showed a grey screen with the message 'ios6'. When I tried to use the phone it came up with the error message 'connect to iTunes'. When I got home from work I did this, at first iTunes could not detect the device and then it suggested a system restore. Once the restore had completed I selected the language, country/region and then came back to the same error message 'connect to iTunes'. When I tried to connect the device iTunes could not detect it and stated that there was a problem with the device.
I have telephoned my network provider to request a replacement device on my insurance but they have said they cannot authorise until I have had the fault diagnosed my Apple. Only problem is there are no genius appointments free until Friday!
Any help would be massively appreciated! We're not Apple. Se can not magically make a genius appointment available for you.

HT1751 My iTunes won't drag to my external hard drive...any suggestions?
When I attempt to drag my iTunes library to my external hard drive, it will not transfer the folder. I am using a Mac osx and a free agent external hard drive. Any suggestions?
See this migrate iTunes library post. Depending on the layout of the library you may simply need to copy the entire iTunes folder using Windows Explorer without ever firing up iTunes.

ITunes won't drag and drop - AGAIN!!
I have the current iTunes on a MacBook Pro running the current OS
On several occasions, and now it's happening again, iTunes will not allow me to drag even one, let alone a batch, of tracks within or to playlists.
It's not because a column is sorted - checked that.
Just using the trackpad or a mouse - neither works.
One time an Apple person talked me through removing com.apple.itunes.plist from the Library and that solved the problem. I have had to do this at least once more since, but it does not help this time.
A great pain when I am using iTunes to present a playlist and I need to make changes on the fly.Lets run down a list of possibilities:
1) You are using iTunes 6 here, correct?
2) You did not say whether or not you are running in auto-sync, manual management, or "Enable Disk" mode. If you left it in the default mode as installed (auto-sync), then after dropping your movies into iTunes (or adding them to the Library), simply connect your iPod and allow it to auto-sync (mirror) the current contents of iTunes. (You can also try "Update iPod" option under the File menu, but I have found it unreliable -- possibly owing to "sleeping" iPod.)
3) Not sure if your reference to "dropping the movie on the iPod" is a reference to the iPod desk icon in manua/disk enabled mode or the iPod "Source" reference/associaed contents list in iTunes. Could you clarify where you are attempting to "drag 'n drop" and/or the selected sync mode of operation in your iPod Preferences.
4) As to conversion to iPod compatible formats, recommend you stick with MoviesForMyPod and/or iSquint if you are restricted to QT Pro 6 and not sure what settings to use for MPEG4 preset collection/QuickTime Movie full manual mode. -
I can't sync iPhone with computer because iTunes won't display the device menu option anymore
The device menu won't appear across the top of iTunes - its as if my iPhone 5 is invisible. This is a sudden surprise after syncing my iPad yesterday. Help?!
You can only sync to one computer at a time.
Before attempting to sync-are you logged in as the same user as the old iTunes, can you select transfer purchases when right click on iPhone icon?

Can no longer WiFi Sync. iTunes won't connect to devices.
Since downloading iOS 7 and iTunes 11.1.1 I can no longer WiFi Sync my iPhone5, iPad, or iPod. Error message states, "iTunes could not connect to this device. Could not allocate a resource." What does this mean? Never had a problem before.
I have the same problem On the phone with Apple support over the course of a few days without a solution.

ITunes won't recognize my devices
Brand new (today) iPad2 3G 64g, month old Toshiba laptop. New installation of iTunes. iPad (and iPhones) recognized by the computer, but don't show up in iTunes. Ran the troubleshooter, to no avail. Looks like this is a common problem. Any help out there?
have a look at this support article.

Hi, any suggestions as to how I can fix the problem on my iPhone?
Hello, ClareOlys.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would first make sure all updates have been processed for the computer and iTunes. You may need to place the device in recovery mode before iTunes will recognize the device. Here is the article that explains that process.
If you can't update or restore your iOS device

If the device is still not recognized by iTunes, see the steps in the two articles below.

I've tried restarting my Apple Mobile Device service many times.. restarting my comp... updating my iTunes. Syncing over WiFi but it doesn't even give me that option on my phone. I've run out of ideas and I have no idea what else to do. Please help!
Syncing on WiFi can only be enabled while the device is connected to the computer with iTunes (1st time). You need to look at "device not recognized" in iTunes.

My iTunes won't mount my devices, My iTunes won't mount my devices
I just upgraded my iTunes to the new version and now it will not mount my iPhone or iPad.
Welcome purplepaws, you say you have had the device a couple of years, but that the Mac does not see it. As a preliminary note, the iPod touch (and iPhone) do not mount, with a disk icon, in the same way as an ordinary iPod: the OS is different.
A couple of questions: you tell us it is not seen by iTunes. Is this a recent change, or have you been using another computer before? It is probably not anything to do with cables/connectors although that was a good check: these do go wrong sometimes. However, with the other iPods connecting and the iPod touch not, it may be a problem with the installation. Perhaps rather than resetting the touch, it may be an idea to reinstall iTunes.
Before, however, there are some steps you might want to try found in an Apple support document. If it does come to reinstalling iTunes, you might want to try a utility like App Cleaner to make sure you get all of the components. If you do not, it may still not work.

ITunes library seems to be FUBAR, how do I start over?
