Imported Clip is Double Speed

Normal clips are normal speed but clips I get from using this video game recorder: http://www.avermedia.com/avertv/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?Id=556 imported as double speed. It plays the clip twice so it goes for the usual length of time. I've tried simply halfing the speed but it doesn't look as smooth and it doesn't keep the nice 59.94 framerate I need. Any help on how to import it properly would be helpful, thanks.

Dave has a point - people here come from different time zones across the planet and expecting an answer within 15 minutes or even an hour is just not a realistic assumption. People do tend to have otehr things to do, including getting some sleep every now and then. Even more so on weekends. As for the matter at hand - are you even sure whatever game you recorded actually achieved the 60fps you claim you need? Yes, the tool may have recorded at 59.94, but if the game's effective framerate is just 30fps on your system, naturally you'll only have recorded the same frames twice and it will look stuttery when slowed down. Perfectly logical. So unless you can make sure your graphics card can actualyl deloiver these refresh rates, you whole workflow is pointless and wrong.

  • JVC GY HD 100, imported clips at double speed!

I am trying to import HDV 720p25 frames footage from JVC HD-100. the clips are imported -apparently- in a correct way, BUT when they are played back in the time line they run faster (twice the original speed)! I do not why this is happening, since in the preview window everything seems to be ok...I would love to work with FC5 (which I just bought) but it does not support 720p25, just 720p30. Any suggestion would be very welcome and it would make me feel less desperate! Thanks! ciao, Erica

JVC's early HD camcorder(s) didn't have an 'HDV' logo, as far as I remember, but used a kind of hi-def different from the method later used by Sony, and called 'HDV'.
The first versions of Final Cut Pro HD didn't, as far as I remember, capture some kinds of HD without, as you say, that third-party plug-in. However, I seem to remember that updates to the original release of FCP HD did enable built-in support for various kinds of HD ..including HDV. So perhaps your version of FCP 5 just needs to be updated, via a download, to the latest version ..check in the FCP Discussions.
iMovie HD may report 720p while capturing, because iMovie uses elements of QuickTime (..which may identify 720p..) and also uses an extra piece of software called Apple Intermediate Codec (..which converts HDV footage to an editable variety usable within iMovie HD).
So although part of the iMovie software may be able to identify your footage, it doesn't necessarily mean that it can work with it!
[..I can identify a diesel locomotive, but that doesn't mean that I know how to drive one..]
I don't know enough about JVC camcorders, especially their early HD ones (..which Adam Wilt mentions in his third paragraph here..) to be able to comment further ..except to say that I use HDV at 1080interleaved and haven't tried importing 'progressive' footage into either iMovie HD nor FCP HD. Sorry.

  • IMovie 10: imported clips have different speed

I am using iMovie 10.0 on a Mac OS X 10.9 Pro Retina.
Something weird and unprecedented just happened: I imported 3 MTS files in the same movie, all of which are displayed correctly in the imported files window; but when I add 2 of them to the timeline to work on them, they happen to be played at a higher speed (it's music: the audio sounds one semitone higher than the original...). The other file, however, doesn't have the same problem.
Anybody knows what might be happening?
    Thanks

    OK.
Well, there are a couple routes you can go.  You can export a 1920 x 1080 file and scale the other sources up (which may not look all that great).  Or possibly the better option would be to export a 720 x 480 version and scale the HD sources down.
By the way, 624 x 352 is not normal for a ripped DVD.  I'd redo that to a standard size.

  • Clip plays at double speed for no reason

When I am in FCP 5.0 I play a clip and it plays at double speed for no reason (captured dv25 from dvd via decklink extreme capture card). This happens when I click on play in the source or keyboard shortcut. I'm certain that I am not putting in to this mode by clicking or keying twice. Then suddenly I will close and open the clip and play motion is normal. This occurs on tutorial clips in FCP not just ones I have captured. I have trashed FCP preferences but this still happens. Any ideas?.....
    Thanks in advance.

Haven't heard of this before, so unless someone else has a ready solution, I'd say you're going to need to troubleshoot. Start by creating a new user account, check the box to allow it to administer, then log into the new account and see if the problem follows. Please report back.

iMovie 09 supports your camera. [See this article|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2726]
AVCHD Lite is not supported on iMovie 08. This is why you get the double speed.
While your camera will not work with iMovie 08 and AVCHD Lite, it might be worth trying in Motion JPEG as mentioned in the above article on iMovie 09. No guarantees, but worth a try. Motion JPEG produces extremely high quality but very large files.
Best bet is to get iMovie 09.

  • ITunes to Garageband import at double speed

When I click and drag a spoken word file (WAV) from iTunes to Garageband, it shows up in GB as double speed - Alvin and the Chipmunks-style. Tempo doesn't fix it. I've worked on Garageband before and this has not happened, so it may have to do with my recent upgrade of iTunes to 9.1. I'm on Garageband 3.0.4. Any ideas? You can email directly to: [email protected] Thanks!

Any movies that are less than 2 months old are ok. All these videos have been taken with my digital cam which records files in mov. I think I figured it out.. didn't see that you could choose what type when importing.

  • N95 Music playing at double speed

  • Double Speed Rendering in Final Cut

I am having an odd problem with Final Cut 6 that used to just happen when I would export to "current settings" but has now migrated into my preview renderings.
When I render, the video plays back at double speed, and audio renders fine. The result is half the video render is double speed and the rest is black. Very annoying and I cannot properly edit this way.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, when I import my footage, the line is grey and not red and plays just fine.  However, if I export and use "Current Settings" the rendered file will come out double speed.  If I add an effect and it requires a rendering, the preview will render and double speed.  If I can figure out and fix what is doing this, my life will be a whole lot less stressful.
BTW, the funny thing is, if I do NOT export using "current settings" but rather choose HDV 1080i60, it creates the new file just fine. :-/

  • CS4 Timeline Video Running Double Speed

Maybe someone knows where the problem lies...
I add a video clip (.m2v /mpeg) to encore cs4 and a ac3. I create a timeline with these streams. If i press play to preview the timeline to add chapters, the video is running double speed and is over after half of the time. Audio plays normal.
If i open the same project with the same settings in CS3 it works properly.
Does anyone know where the problem lies?

How can I fix: iPad1 plays back audio podcasts (not music) at double speed?

    Hello @GiveHP2ndChance,
I understand that you are not able to get adequate sound from your notebook computer's BEATS Audio, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To correct the sound on your system, I recommend following this document on No Sound from Speakers (Windows 7) or for (Windows 8). This should help improve the quality of the audio on your notebook.
To assist you further, I will need to know:
The Product and Model Number of your notebook computer.
The version of Windows you have installed on your computer.
If your computer has completed all of its important Windows Updates.
If you have updated your HP drivers using the HP Support Assistant.
If this is an on-going, or recent issue.
If the same lack of quality is present when headphones are plugged in.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. I look forward to your reply!

  • Importing video at wrong speed.

I have a G5 dual 1.8 with 3 gigs of Ram. i'm importing Dv video via FW to the front of the mac with a ZR80 Canon DV camera. thgis video was shot in another friends camera. The import is speeding up the film to double speed so it is importing at 1/2 speed. The camera is set to 16 bit audio even tho it appears that the video was shot at 12 bit. Ive tried all of the video setting in the preferences and I have dumped the prefs file from the prefs folder. I have checked my FW adudio card settings (a FireFace 800) and tried various settings there. This is DV to FW so i don't know why that would have any affect really. Should I try my friends camera as the source?
    Powermac G5 Dual 1.8   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   3 gigs ram

it turned out to be a setting in the FireFace 800 prefs. Had to switch the Audio setting from 48kHz (x2)(96khz) down to just 48kHz.
So all-yall with this problem check ALL of your Audio settings to match a 48 k setting, not 44.1, not 12 bit and not some other setting. 16bit/48k

  • IPhoto clips & directly imported clips

There is the area in the bottom left that gives you a listing of "events".  It seems no matter how I slice and dice the view commands or any toggles I have found to be able to combine the iPhoto clips with the directly imported clips.
What I am looking for is to be able to have the clips sequentially listed in that area (regardless of its source or current storage location).  As it stands now, I have to keep tabs on the dates in the iPhoto clips while working myself up/down the iMovie directly imported clips to be able to put all clips sequentially in my project.
    Can you help?
My next step is to export those files from iPhoto and import into iMovie.  But, that seems like a lot of work.  I have begun to import my more recent clips directly into iMovie and not have it go into iPhoto at all.  But, I have many previous clips that I did not do that, thus my issue above.
    Thanks

(and, it seems that it didn't subdivide into iPhoto events as much... meaning, iMovie put the clips into different mini-events within iMovie's iPhoto clips, but, some are combined... therefore, I am having to take the time to re-subdivide my events before dragging them over).  Is there any way that is faster than this?
Unfortunately the order you placed iPhoto Videos into is not preserved once you drag them into iMovie. It's not really paying attention to iPhoto Albums organization when you copy stuff into iMovie. As for speed and tedious work, you could only just attempt to drag things all at once by  clicking one clip in iPhoto Videos, then click ⌘ Command + A keys to "Select All" which highlights everything and drag it all at once into a single event.
Then split the one giant Event itself which avoids having to select anything and drag it into yet another Event.
    For example try this:
Go into the single giant Event and skim the clips to the point where you would like to make the split, say betwee 2 clips
Hold down the CTRL key and click right on that point.
    Choose Split Event Before Clip
Everything will be divided at that point with a new Event folder created by iMovie.
The Event will be renamed by appending a number "1" at the end so it doesn't duplicate with the original event name
Am I right in saying that:
    1.  The iPhoto video listing in the event library are just thumbnails pointing at the iPhoto videos that are stored in my iPhoto Library?
    That's correct 100%.
    2.  When I use those clips in a project, it is just a thumbnail in my project (and is pointing to the location in iPhoto)?
    Yes, that's correct too.
    3.  When I drag and drop that iPhoto clip into an iMovie event, I am actually copying the file into my iMovie library.  therefore, I have a copy in my iPhoto library and now in my iMovie library.  So if I deleted it from iPhoto, a complete file would still be intact in my iMovie library?
Yes that's correct. You can delete the original from the iPhoto Library and you still have the duplicate sitting now in the Event Library under full control by iMovie. Which means you could also through iMovie, safely migrate Events/Projects to an External hard drive you have erased/formatted as Mac OS Extended format. And it will continue to work properly.
