Imported clips not in numerical order

I have imported around 300 short video clips on the timeline from a mini dv camcorder. Each clip is from 2 to 4 seconds long.Near the end of importing, iMovie suddenly quits and when I re-open it, all the clips are in the iMovie trash but in random order. When I select all and drag into the timeline, they are all mixed up and not in the sequential order starting from #1. I had to manually sort them out again. Is there a way to put all the clips back into the timeline from the trash or from the clips pane so that they will be in order as to the clip number starting from the beginning? It seems that it would be easier to re-import them again hoping that it could not crash during the import stage.

Hi Pat - in response to your question about re-ordering the clips. No, there is unfortunately no automatic way to do that. It has to be done manually. It also may be worth while temporarily stopping the importing process at the half-way point, and saving, before continuing.

  • TS1387 When importing a music cd the songs are not in numerical order from list.  Also some songs are duplicated.

Why are songs that are being imported from a music cd in random numerical order?  Why are songs from a previous import suddenly being duplicated on the album list?

OK, I am really glad I do not have to look you guys in the eye cause I have the answer...kinda. I looked at iTunes again and clicked the first column and it turned to a small arrow (where before it was nothing)and then the order was correct. When it first appeared it was in no order I could tell, not even backwards.
I put in the data CD, same thing ...no arrow at top of first column and after I clicked the top of first column, songs went into playlist order and arrow appeared.
Now I noticed everytime I eject the CD and insert it again, it goes out of order again. What am I missing?

  • TOC not in numerical order (RH7)

My client wants the section numbers from his user manual left in (not stripped out) so that they show up in the help topics. In my Project Manager tab, the topics for the imported chapter files are in the correct numerical order, but in the auto-generated TOC they are hopelessly mixed up. Also, several of the numbers seem to be overwritten with "IX". What a useless mess!

    Hi there
When you import topics you get to choose whic heading levels are paginated into topics. Likely you are seeing that bookmarks have been inserted and the resulting TOC is being created based on bookmarks as well as topics.
As for screen captures, when you are replying using the web interface you see a camera icon that you may click to insert an image.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Importing clip notes

I have a 2 min film starting at timecode 01:00 on the timeline. I have exported clipnotes of just that 2 min section. The producer has made notes and returned the clipnote data file to me, When importing the comments to the sequence it places all the notes starting at timeline 00:00 making all the notes 1 min early. How can I import them so that they are in the correct place?

I'm getting the same problem. Audio is extremely tinny and sounds like garbage. Have tried all different settings and even different audio compressions coming into AE to no effect.
    Running XP, AE CS3
Problem only occurs when exporting to Quicktime in Clip Notes. Windows Media sounds beautiful, but I'd rather use QT.

  • CS6 Pantone libraries are not in numerical order

In fact, they are random. For example, when creating a duotone, I click in the color area and I'm given a list of the Pantone colors in that library. If I click on the up arrow it gives me seven colors at a time. A reasonable person woud assume that the seven colors shown would be replaced with the next seven colors in numerical order. For example, if colors 250 through 256 are shown, a click on the up arrow should produce colors 257 through 263. It does not. Here is what I got on each subsequent click when starting at 2562: 7436, 517, 250, 7646, 243. These six numbers have no relationship to each other. Selecting a color in these libraries is simply random. You must keep clicking until ithe color you want just happens to show up. The numbers don't even go generally up or generally down. They are random. What is Adobe's problem? How to alphbetize or put numbers in order is a skill taught in elementary school. Is there anyway to make the colors come up in order? If so, why is random the default?
    Thanks,

I am not an Adobe employee and as fas as I can tell Mr.Cox, who does work for Adobe but is not getting paid to help people on this Forum, would not point out some poster’s misconduct here.
What gave you the idea you were communicating with Adobe proper on this user-to-user Forum?
»The blame cannot be put on Pantone.«
    Wrong.
»I question the wisdom of such a systm and THAT is bad manners? Please.«
But you did not just ask »Why is it that …« you asked what »Adobe’s problem« is, didn’t you?
And did you not then make remarks about the elementary school curriculum?
Now that does not seem to have a direct connection to the matter at hand at all, so I assumed you meant that derogatively.
Was my conclusion wrong and are you just in the habit of enriching your queries with unconnected observations for example about the system of education?
    »Really, is that an "ill-mannered" request?«
Which sentence/s in the original post qualify as a request in your opinion?

  • Mp3 tracks not in numerical order

For some reason when I use my flash drive in the car the songs dont play in numerical order. I realized the same thing happens when I add those same songs to iTunes. Is there is program mac compatible of course that can solve this problem?

I've enough trouble trying to keep up with the behaviour of iTunes and Apple devices, I'm not about to start on car stereos.
Having fixed things in iTunes if you add those fixed tracks to your flash player is it any better in the car?

  • Smart playlists not in numerical order

Hey, I am having problems getting some of my Smart Playlists in numerical order. Here is an image to help describe my problem; so I want to be able to numerically list the highlighted section in order starting from 1a. I have spent ages trying to figure it out but have had no luck! Anyone know how to do this?
    Many thanks.

Pad out 1 to 9 with leading zeros...
    01
    02
    09
    10
    11
    etc.
if there are more than 99 you'd pad everything to 3 digits.

  • Importing files not in name order

When importing files from my pmw 200 it wont put them in name order . Hence when selecting them and automating to sequence my footage is all mixed up and is not flowing in the order it should be in  if any one knows whats going on please help ......

We struggled with this too for awhile, just because we wanted to view the clips as icon (like everyone does) but in the order we took them.
Depending on which version of Premiere you are using you can now select a sort order in clip bin window itself by clicking on 'Sort Icons' icon at the bottom of the clip bin (next to the zoom bar) and choosing 'List View Sort'. This should give you them in the order that they were taken. It's reverts though everytime you open and close the project, which is a pain.
Better solution is this though and it works for older versions of the premiere too. First, view the bin as a list view (bottom left icon) which should order them in the order you want or click on the column headers to get the correct order you want them to appear in. Then create a new empty bin, select icon view for this window and then select all the clips and drag them into the new bin. They should retain the correct order but be viewable as icons and they'll stay in that order forever more!

  • Make iPhoto import clips without rearranging the order????

I made a movie of some friends playing football on an older version of iMovie with transitions and titles, etc. As a backup, I exported the movie back onto my digital camcorder. Now I would like to use iMovie 09 to create a higher quality mp4 of the movie than I did before. So I imported the movies from the camcorder into iMovie 09. Works fine except... iMovie 09 breaks the movie into clips and reorders them with all the transitions and titles at the end.
Is it possible to make iMovie leave the movie as is. The older iMovies would break a long movie into clips, but would leave them in the correct order and when played would be seamless. What's up with iMovie 09 and can I make it stop messing with the order of my imports?
    Thank you,
    Bob A.

Okay thanks for the tip, I think I might be one small step closer.
I copied the "iPhoto Library" folder off the disk, and double clicked the "Library6.iPhoto" file (so it must have been created by iPhoto 6). iPhoto '09 proceeded to convert the library to the '09 format, and the photos in this newly transformed library retain their titles and descriptions. Yay!
But now I need to figure out a way to merge this library into my main library. I tried importing this library into my main one, but it resulted in the same problem of ignoring the titles and descriptions. Drag-and-dropping the newly created library into the main library brings the same result.

  • Imported clips not showing up in Event

I have version 10.0.5 and imported video clips from my iPhone.  The file size shows 9.5GB yet no clips are showing up.  They were in the Event prior to my quitting iMovie but when I reopened it shows Empty.  Help?

I think I ought to mention that I also have a new laptop and have experienced file sharing permission issues with some applications. Might this be part of the problem? (Although everything seems to be properly owned!)

  • PS CS2 Camera Raw files don't display in numerical order - is there a fix?

If I select a number of .NEF files in the finder and double click on them or drag them onto the PS CS2 icon, when the preview images are displayed vertically along the left side of the Camera Raw window, they're not in numerical order. That is, if the files were 001.NEF, 002.NEF, 003.NEF, etc... though 50, the order might be: 10, 5, 24, 43, 12...
It makes it difficult to choose between multiple versions of the same subject when they're not right next to each other. It's not the end of the world, but it is a little obnoxious. I haven't been able to find any preference or option to change this... is there anything I'm missing? Does anyone else get this?
    I'm on a Mac G5 running 10.4.11 and CS2.
    Thanks for any help,
    Connal

    Jim + Jeff,
Thanks for the clarification. I know that in Bridge you can choose to sort files by pretty much whatever you want. It just seemed odd that if you just open files directly in PS (as far as I can tell) there's no way to adjust the order in which they display.
Oh well, if Bridge is the answer, then Bridge is the answer.
    Thanks.
