Imported files are doubled or trippeled

If I add song files from my harddisc into the itunes library I find the from every song title two or three copies! On the harddisc I have just one file of every song but they are doubled, tripled ....
What can I do to avoid this? How can I wipe out the doubles if I have thousands of files in the library?
Thank you for your kind help!
Heinz

are the doubles both "playable"? I doubt it.
I think what you are seeing is the WMA files listed,
and they are converted to AAC (.m4a) files - because
iTunes does not play WMA. So what I had to do was
remove the WMA files from the iTunes playlist.
Make a smartplaylist.
"Kind" "is" "WMA audio file"
And you can either convert them to mp3 or AAC
or simple delete them from the listing.

  • FCP X freezes and must force quit?  I have a FCP installed on a Mac Mini (4 gig memory) and Lion OS.  The import files are large ACVHD files from a Canon G10 camera.  FCPX freezes and requires a force quit.  Is anyone else having these problems?

I am using FCP X on both a MacMini (10.7 with 4 Gig memory) and an iMac (10.6 with 4 gig memory).  The files are ACVHD files imported from a Canon G10 camcorder.  FCP is constantly freezing and requiring a forced quit.    Could it be that FCP X was not tested thoroughly for use on a Mac Mini?

I think it's safe to say that FCPX wasn't tested throroughly for use on anything.
with that out of the way, there are many variables as to what might cause your problems, but I don't think it's the mac mini as long as it meets the specified minimum requirements (especially the graphics card).
You might try creating a camera archive first and then importing from that.
The other issue might be the file format itself; you might need to use Clipwrap first. Maybe someone who has the same camera can chime in.

  • Importing files are too big

Whenever I try to import my cds onto iTunes, in the bottom bar it says that the file will be about 500 MB. I know this isn't right because whenever I import on a PC or another MAC, it shows up at about 30 MB. My iTunes preferences are set on AAC, which I hear is suggested. I don't know what else to do...

It does make sense. You are probably importing your tunes in Apple Lossless or AIFF. You need to check your import settings.
    1. Open iTunes Prefs > Advanced > Importing.
    2. Make sure the "Import Using" is set to either AAC or MP3, whichever you prefer.
    3. Click OK.
Now you probably need to make sure your existing files are transcoded.
    1. Pull down Edit > View Options and click the Kind check box.
    2. Sort your Library by the Kind column by clicking on it.
    3. Highlight all the files that are not AAC or MP3.
    4. Control+click the files and choose "convert selection to XXX."
Once that is done you can then delete the Lossless/AIFF files.

  • Imported Dng files are double size of raw

Is this correct? If not, how to import a smaller lossless file?

You probably have embedding of original raw turned on. You don't need to do that in general. Go into your preferences and the FIle Handling tab and turn off "embed original raw file". In general dngs are smaller than raw files.

  • Imported files are really blurry and pixelated?

Help! I'm freaking out a bit over here.
I designed several pages from a book and a magazine in Photoshop (text, images, graphics and all) and am now trying to import them into an InDesign document to send to the printer. I import them the proper way, by going through File > Import. I created everything at 300 ppi.
However, once they're in InDesign, everything is really pixelated! I changed the Display Performance to High and it gets a little better, but still pixelated. Is this just a quirk of InDesign? When the pages are printed, will they look unpixelated? If not, how do I fix this? I'm working on a deadline, so quick advice would be much appreciated.

No, I'm not rasterizing anything. I save the PSD as is, with the text still live, and then place them in InDesign - I didn't know everything was rasterized anyways! The document looks a lot better when I import the PSDs into Illustrator, save as an .ai file, and then place them into InDesign. I've also made all the PSDs exactly to scale in Photoshop, so I don't scale anything up or down in ID.
But the PDF trick works perfectly! Everything actually looks perfect now. Thanks so much!
    1. PSD will always ALWAYS output as RASTER. It's a conversion that happens on the fly and there's nothing InDesign nor Photoshop can do about it. The only way around it is to save the file as PDF.
    2. Absolutely unnecessary step - same end result as placing them in InDesign. It may look better because the ai file will have a PDF for previewing in InDesign, which may show up slightly better than a low-res thumbnail that Indesign uses for previewing.
    3. The PDF would be better - the text layers, vector masks and vector shapes created in Photoshop would retain their vectorness. Anything else, like smart objects, would be rasterised in the PDF to the native res of the file.

From what I've read, you may not have done any work in InDesign excepting to import the Photoshop pdf's to create one final document.
This forum could discuss at lengths end the merits of InDesign vs Photoshop for multilple page documents...let's not right now.
If your Photoshop PDF's were final page files, with nothing added in ID, you would have been better off combining the 50 page files in Acrobat; ID was a hurdle in this case.
    Absolutely 90% agree with this.
Technically it would have been more efficient to use InDesign to create the multipage layout. Photoshop PDFs can be quite large, especially when retaining layers for future editing, which can bloat the file. And a larger size file size takes longer to send via email, upload to FTPs etc. and longer to RIP.
By placing the PDFs in InDesign and outputting to PDF from there they may have significantly reduced the overall size of the PDF, which would be beneficial.

  • Imported files are coming with random pixelated bits?

The original video files (mp4) are fine when I open them in QuickTime, but when I import them to Final Cut Pro X, they come with random bits that become awfully pixelated or messed up (usually 15-20 frames at a time). Here is a screenshot of the damaged import.
It happens to both the Optimized and Proxy file, though like I said the original is fine when opened in another program. I've had this problem for a while now, so both Final Cut and my computer have been restarted multiple times. What can I possibly do to import the files cleanly?

I don't think that would help. I just imported another file straight off my computer (a previously rendered video from Final Cut, so this was never a file actually on the camera card). Again, the file looks pristine in QuickTime, but has random spasms of pixelated mess when I import it to Final Cut.
Could this be a bug in Final Cut itself and I should reinstall or are there other options?

  • How to append data from different import files?

    Dear experts,
The customer is having different applications running that will output imports files BPC needs at a different time of process. Is it possible to append data which already exist in BPC from import?
eg. BPC already has a record
    Factory1, Actual, 2008.OCT, Movement1, 30
    import file-
    Factory1, Actual, 2008.OCT, Movement1, 100
and I need to add them up to become 130.
Looks like regular import will only replace the original record by the new imported value. I'm still trying...
    Thanks a lot,
    Jim Hsu

I do not think there is a way to use a standard import package to perform this action.  Typically when you are importing, you are saying this is the new value.  Not increment/decrement the value.
I have never had to implement a solution for a problem like this.  However, I would write a custom SSIS package that would extract the BPC data for the same dimensionality being imported and append it with the import file, then import the combined file.  Values sharing the same dimensionality in the same import file are aggregated on the actual import.
SO your input file has 30, the export gets 100, the combined file has both and the actual value imported would be 130.
That would be the approach I would take, but others might have more experience in different areas.

  • LabView 2010 Application Builder for EXE Always Included files are not Included

In LabVIEW 2010 F2, When I am using the Application Builder to build an EXE file, I have listed 10 or so files to Be "Always Included". But when I Explore the directory where the EXE was built, those "Always Included" files are not there or in any subdirectory under the EXE file.
This frequently makes my EXE file not work properly because important files are missing. I have to spend extra debugging time to find out the the cause of my problem is missing files that the Application Builder should have transferred "Always".
Why did the Application Builder, when building an EXE target, not include the files that should be "Always Included"?
Why does the Application Builder ignore these files specifications?

    Dennis Knutson wrote:
The build does include files you select. Post an example project with a small VI and some separate files where this does not happen.
No, it does not appear that all of the files that I listed in the "Always Include" list are copied during the Build process to the Build directory or any subdirectory under that.
The Build Source Files.jpg file shows most of the list of the files that should be "Always Included". Notice the .VI and .ctl files that are listed
The Build Directory.jpg file shows the file in the Build directory that were built.
The Data Directory.jpg file shows the data directory under the Build directory and may include some of the files listed in the "Always Include", but not all of them.
The other subdirectories under the Build directory were created by me and do not include any files that were copied during the Build process.
So not ALL of the files that were included in the "Always Include" list were copied into the Build directory area as expected. ALL of the files that are listed as "Always Include" should be copied, if they exist. Those files existed when then were selected for the List and they existed at the time of the Build.
I can not include an example project that demonstrates this. I am prevented from doing so by the terms of an NDA. You are going to have to take my word that this event is real and happens the same way every time. This information should be sufficient for someone to investigate why do not ALL of the files listed in the "Always Include" list are copied into the Build directory area regardless of the file type or contents.

  • Import file read status

    Hi
I need to import 9i export on 11g database. It is a huge export dump. I dont know the schemas in the dump. Hence I opted for read import file option in 11g Enterprise Manager. It has taken 2 hrs so far. Still it is reading. Is there a way to check the status (in percentage) of the reading?
This is what I see on the browser:
    Database Instance: orcl >
    Import: Processing: Read Import File
The import files are being read.
This may take several minutes. This page will automatically forward to the next page when done.
    Please help me.

Pl identify exact versions of 11g and OS.
Use the SHOW parameter in the imp command line executable.

  • Aperture indicates referenced files are offline

I keep my referenced images on the hard drive of my imac, and I have checked in finder that all of my referenced images are in their usual locations. Aperture will not let me adjust or export images because it thinks my hard drive is offline. If I try and adjust or export an image, I get the following message. "The selected master image is either offline or not found. Please reconnect it and try again." If I select "Manage Referenced Files", Aperture indicates my home directory is offline and does not show my directory tree on my hard drive.

    Hi,
Could you tell me how you resolved this problem and got Aperture to recognize
    your referenced files?
I also use TM to back up my computer, and all my referenced photos are actually stored on the TM.
This setup has worked beautifully for 6 months now, and suddenly my photos are "offline".
I can still see the files with the Finder, and also on TM and can successfully import them with
Aperture. The newly imported files are then recognized by Aperture as online. But all other files in my projects and albums are either "offline" or "not found".
I can't seem to get any where with 'Manage Reference Files'. For example, "reconnect" and "reconnect all" are both greyed out. 'Show in Finder' also indicates that the 'volume on which the files reside is offline'.
I am using a Mac Book Pro, OS X 10.5.4.
I am beginning to think I'll have to re-import all my files and re-create my projects. There must be some way to get Aperture to recognize the location of the referenced files.
Thank you for any assistance you can give.

  • Imported files not found

    Hello,
I am trying to set up Audtion for my students to practice on.  I have loaded the "Sky Cell Tel" files from the Audition "Classroom in a Book."  This is what I have done:
    1. I copied the files from the CD to a folder created specifically for the class using copy/paste in My Computer. I do this so we aren't working with files off the CD, but rather permanently on the harddrive. The files copy over and are  present. A check of the properties show the full file content is present. They also play back in Windows Media Player.
    2. I launch Audition. I click on File, Import and direct the import to the Sky Cell Tel files in the the folder I put them in. The files load into the "Files" tab. I test the files and they all play in Audition using the play button in the files tab.  To give my students a "start from scratch" approach I do not load any files into the timeline.  I save the Session As ... and close Audition.
    3. I then re-open Audition and then open the previously saved Session.  When I do the files that I had previously imported are not present in the Files tab.  Where are they???  I am expecting the saved Session to show the imported files as any other editing program I have used.  Note, if I use a file in the timeline..., THEN it shows in the File tab upon reopening  the saved Session. But files not used in the timeline do not show in the Files tab.
I think my frustration in obvious.  I  insure the files are permanently on the harddrive. I Import the files. I save the Session. Latter, upon having a student re-open the Session the imported files are not found. Embarrassing and frustrating.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Tom

I presume we're talking about AA3 here. Yes, a file doesn't get associated with a session until it has actually been used in it - it's always been like that. Normally this isn't an issue (or if it is, nobody's ever mentioned it here before), but I can sort-of understand your frustration. My take on giving students a real-life experience in this situation might perhaps involve a little chat with your network manager, depending upon how you've got your network organised. Give each student their own file storage area that they have to log into, and put copies of the files in each of them, and get them to have the complete experience by loading the files themselves. They'll soon find out what happens to files they don't use...
I think that the issue with saving sessions having unused files in the file window is that the way the .xml is structured, you only get entries which have time stamps on them. If a file isn't used, then it's not associated with any time stamps and is regarded as not part of the session at save time. It's completely logical, I'm afraid - although frustrating for you!

  • Imported audio files are repeating same audio on objects in a slide

    Hi
I can't find anything here that mentions the problem I am having.
I am using Captivate 4. And Neospeechs desktop VoiceText program to record audio files outside of Captivate. They are saved as WAV files, then I import the audio into Captivate.
I have various objects on a slide. For example, I have six text Rollover Captions. When you roll over them, some text is displayed. I have attached my audio files to these rollover objects. So, I would have audio1.wav, audio2.wav, audio3.wav etc and these play when you roll over the captions.
The issue I am having, is that when I Publish or Preview the project, sometimes the wrong audio file is playing upon rollover. Usually the first couple of caption/file combinations will work, so I get audio1.wav for caption1 and audio2.wav for caption2, but then say for captions 3,4,5,6 I am still getting audio1.wav playing!
I have doubled checked everything and the correct audio files are attached to the captions. And they all play correctly in Edit view.
I've just noticed this has happened again in a different Captivate 4 project, where I have about 6 lines of Text Animation, with an audio file for each text animation. They have been distributed across the timeline so that the text animations do not overlap, and yet I am still hearing imported audio files repeated.
If anyone can help to shed any light on this, i'd be grateful, as I'm totally stumped!
    thanks
    Lolly
