Imported files not matching FCE Playback / Render settings

The files were .mov exported to .mp4 using MPEG Streamclip. The .mov files were recorded from World of Warcraft's Mac Recording feature with the settings as:
-Resolution: 640x400
-Framerate: 29.97
-Compession: H.264
There is an error of FCE not being able to import WoW's .mov files, so I use MPEG Streamclip. In streamclip, I export as "File -> Export to MPEG-4... -> H.264 Compression, 29.97 FPS, Turn off interlaced scaling"
Now FCE is able to import the footage. I can put it in the timeline, add effects, filters, etc. However, it needs a render after every single action. I suspect it's because the files' settings do not match the FCE Playback settings. I have read on another topic that instead of exporting to mpeg-4, to export to quicktime then DV PAL. But other users used footage from actual camcorders, mine are from a video game's recording feature, is there any difference?
What settings do FCE's Easy Setup have to be to match an exported file of Streamclip so the footage is native?

You don't have much choice in FCE: you must conform your movie to the standard DV settings; any other setting either will be rejected or will require continuous rendering.
So I suggest you to apply what you probably already read about using MPEG Streamclip: open your .mov file in MPEG Streamclip, then Export to QuickTime (cmd-E - NOT Export to DV!) with Compression: Apple DV-PAL (or Apple DV-DVCPRO/NTSC), Quality: 100%, fps: 25 for PAL or 29,97 for NTSC, Audio: uncompressed, Stereo, 48 KHz.
Only then, when imported to FCE, the .mov created by MPEG Streamclip will not require video nor audio rendering.

  • Imported files not showing up in folders

I've imported .psd files into a folder of .dng images so I can stack them with their originals. They were all saved with Max Compatibility and LightRoom seems to import them ok, but they don't show up in the grid or filmstrip. Their folder listing has a + sign by the file total and in the folder hierarchy on the filmstrip panel it says that it's showing 82 of 95 photos. How can I get these .psd files to appear?
If I check the actual folder on the hard disk, the .psd files are there. If I remove them from the folder and try to re-import them, I get a message saying they are already there.
This hasn't happened every time I've done this action, but a number of my folders show this problem.

For *.jpg and *.nef (RAW) files the handling is similar:
If there is a *.nef (RAW) file in the source directory, a *.jpeg with same name will be copied by LR into the destination directory, but the *.jpg will not be included in the LR database.
The problem is, that LR does not report this to the user. LR should open a popup window after import listing the files not added to the database (as it does for duplicates).
Personally I'd find it better if LR would import everything to disk AND database. It should perform an automatic stacking for files with same name but different type. The RAW or DNG should be on top of stack of course.

  • Import files not successfully uploading/rendering

I'm having trouble importing files successfully. Just tried uploading a batch of about 20 clips. Maybe 3 actually successfully rendered and appeard with a corresponding thumbnail in my Event window. The rest appear as an image of a white document icon and yellow caution sign on a red background. I never used to have this issue. Recently I installed OS X Mavericks and have really struggled to succesully import clips. Sometimes I have to upload 5, 6 or even 7 times to get all of the clips I need into the events page.
    Anyone have advice? Thanks!

Nope. Not a pirate. Admittedly, I have been using this version for some time, and I don't get prompts for software updates. I'll make sure I do this now. Didn't realize the solution was that simple. Thanks for your help.

  • Importing files not in name order

When importing files from my pmw 200 it wont put them in name order . Hence when selecting them and automating to sequence my footage is all mixed up and is not flowing in the order it should be in  if any one knows whats going on please help ......

We struggled with this too for awhile, just because we wanted to view the clips as icon (like everyone does) but in the order we took them.
Depending on which version of Premiere you are using you can now select a sort order in clip bin window itself by clicking on 'Sort Icons' icon at the bottom of the clip bin (next to the zoom bar) and choosing 'List View Sort'. This should give you them in the order that they were taken. It's reverts though everytime you open and close the project, which is a pain.
Better solution is this though and it works for older versions of the premiere too. First, view the bin as a list view (bottom left icon) which should order them in the order you want or click on the column headers to get the correct order you want them to appear in. Then create a new empty bin, select icon view for this window and then select all the clips and drag them into the new bin. They should retain the correct order but be viewable as icons and they'll stay in that order forever more!

  • Imported files not found

    Hello,
I am trying to set up Audtion for my students to practice on.  I have loaded the "Sky Cell Tel" files from the Audition "Classroom in a Book."  This is what I have done:
    1. I copied the files from the CD to a folder created specifically for the class using copy/paste in My Computer. I do this so we aren't working with files off the CD, but rather permanently on the harddrive. The files copy over and are  present. A check of the properties show the full file content is present. They also play back in Windows Media Player.
    2. I launch Audition. I click on File, Import and direct the import to the Sky Cell Tel files in the the folder I put them in. The files load into the "Files" tab. I test the files and they all play in Audition using the play button in the files tab.  To give my students a "start from scratch" approach I do not load any files into the timeline.  I save the Session As ... and close Audition.
    3. I then re-open Audition and then open the previously saved Session.  When I do the files that I had previously imported are not present in the Files tab.  Where are they???  I am expecting the saved Session to show the imported files as any other editing program I have used.  Note, if I use a file in the timeline..., THEN it shows in the File tab upon reopening  the saved Session. But files not used in the timeline do not show in the Files tab.
I think my frustration in obvious.  I  insure the files are permanently on the harddrive. I Import the files. I save the Session. Latter, upon having a student re-open the Session the imported files are not found. Embarrassing and frustrating.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Tom

I presume we're talking about AA3 here. Yes, a file doesn't get associated with a session until it has actually been used in it - it's always been like that. Normally this isn't an issue (or if it is, nobody's ever mentioned it here before), but I can sort-of understand your frustration. My take on giving students a real-life experience in this situation might perhaps involve a little chat with your network manager, depending upon how you've got your network organised. Give each student their own file storage area that they have to log into, and put copies of the files in each of them, and get them to have the complete experience by loading the files themselves. They'll soon find out what happens to files they don't use...
I think that the issue with saving sessions having unused files in the file window is that the way the .xml is structured, you only get entries which have time stamps on them. If a file isn't used, then it's not associated with any time stamps and is regarded as not part of the session at save time. It's completely logical, I'm afraid - although frustrating for you!

  • SCC files not matching timeline timecode

Has anyone run into a problem with their SCC file for Closed Captioning not lining up with the timeline timecode? We had our Captioning done by a professional captioning company and a text file they provided, which matches the SCC file timecodes, lines up perfectly with the timeline in Encore (since we provided them a window burn of the timeline). But when the disc is burned, and played back on a TV, the captions start off right and then over the course of the almost two hour program, drift to be off by 7 seconds near the end. I noticed that the DVD display time does not match my timeline timecode and is off by a few seconds at least. My sources and timelines are all drop-frame, so I tried changing all of the colons in the SCC file to semi-colons using WordPad, but that didn't make a difference. Any help would be appreciated, as I am out of ideas. I am trying a test now with adding the SCC file before I transcode (maybe it didn't like an .m2v file being linked to an SCC).
    Help?!?

    Hi Ruud,
Yes, the timecode matches the timeline...
The last line should appear at: 1:52:23:23 as shown in the .txt file that they supplied as a reference.
    --> Display at 01:52:23:23
    --> Erase at 01:52:27:05
IN THE LAND OF BLOOD AND OIL.
    --> Display at 01:53:15:29
I don't know what the last "Display" line is for, but below is the actual caption file (SCC) that I opened in WordPad:
    01:52:22:28 9420 9420 9470 9470 97a2 97a2 49ce 2054 c845 204c c1ce c420 4f46 20c2 4c4f 4fc4 20c1 cec4 204f 494c ae80 942c 942c 942f 942f
    01:52:27:03 942c 942c
    01:53:15:27 942c 942c
They don't seem to match perfectly, but they seem to be really close and both are within frames of my timeline. I tried a test to re-encode within Encore after attaching the SCC file to the video and that made no difference. Any other ideas? Again, my DVD timer has a end time of 01:52:13 or something (depends on the player), which doesn't quite match the timeline (off by 6 or 7 seconds). My source timecode and timeline timecode are identical throughout the program, so I don't get it.

  • Imported files not coming in at 0,0

I hope this is not a double post, but I dont see the previous post come up in Recent..
Anyway, when I import images or video they never come in at 0,0. Often the are at x 0.45, y 0.45. And thats if I hit ctrl+1 to center the stage. I understand that I can edit multiple frames but its a real hassle. I only saw one other post on this subject from 2007. Am I one of only two people that have this issue?
    Thanks in advance

Having some similar problems and unfortunately some different ones as well...
I would love to know any tips you might have in identifying the "faulty" PSD files that Aperture 3 cannot deal with or more like the the PSD files that FAULTY Aperture cannot deal with (they worked fine in 2.1.4, Preview, iPhoto, etc).
I ask because the problem I have is that as soon as I hit one file that never finishes generating a thumbnail for, then I am done since everything else just queues up behind it and I can't diagnose anything else. As I said in an earlier post, HOW HARD CAN IT BE TO INCLUDE USEFUL DIAGNOSTIC INFO IN THE "ACTIVITY WINDOW", so that we could tell which images are being "processed" (or more importantly not being processed).

  • Imported files not authorized to upload to ipod???

I had purchased some tunes online awhile back and had no problem with them. Then my hard drive crashed and I had to reinstall itunes. I imported the files to it and it says it won't allow them to be uploaded to my ipod as they are not authorized on my computer. I checked to make sure my computer is on the authorized list and it is. Why can't I get them transfered to my ipod and how can I fix it? New to ipod and so far not having much luck with it....
    Thanks

Have you authorised your second computer to play your purchases, do the songs and videos play in iTunes? If you have then try deauthorising the computer and authorising it over again: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • Imported files not found after re-configuring pc drive partitions !

I had alot of files I imported into ITunes which were in the following folder location c:\myfiles.
I have now moved these to a new drive partition d:\myfiles because there was no more space on C: drive.
Now when I play these songs I get an ! (Excalamtion mark) against all the songs I imported and also a 'Cannot play song ..... original file cannot be found' message.
I can browse to the new location and select the song which fixes it but I have alot of these to manually select.
Is there a simple way of making all the imported songs point to the new location ?
    Thanks.

The simplest thing to do is to start a new library and reimport the files, but you loose all metadata.
Close iTunes, drag iTunes library.itl out of the iTunes folder to the desktop. When you start iTunes an empty library will be created. Use File>>Add folder to library to add your music.
If you really want your metadata and you don't mind a bit of editing, there is a way of rebuilding your library from the xml file.
Close iTunes and drag iTunes library.itl and iTunes Library.xml out of the iTunes folder to the desktop.
    oPen iTunes Library.xml with WordPad.
    Look for lines starting:
    <key>Location</key>
You will see the paths to files. Note that the space character is replaced by %20.
If there is a simple find/replace you can do to correct the path e.g. change the drive letter, then you should be able to recreate you library from the edited xml file.
It would be a good idea to make a copy of the original xml file in case you don't get it right first time.

  • Can't import files not marked as .jpg, .mov, etc.

I'm importing a project from FCP7 and many of the files used in the project are .png, but aren't marked as such. When I search for them by their correct names within Premiere it doesn't even SHOW them.  Since there are literally hundreds of files involved, it doesn't work for me to go into the folder and rename everything with the correct designation. FCP seems to know what they are & locates them by name. But I can't transfer my FCP Studio to my new computer because it was an upgrade.
Will Premiere let me bring in files just based on names? Is there some kind of preference that will let me do that???
I've unchecked file extension and unchecked find in media browser, so that when I try to "locate" a file, I CAN find it in my finder, but if I select it it says it doesn't recognize the file type.
Is there a workaround besides renaming them all????  Thanks.

Most applications need to know the file type thru the ".extension".  I am surprised that FCP doesnt need it!
Add the extension via a batch rename.

  • Exe file not visible on playback

We are using a combination of PowerPoint and Captivate to
demonstrate a proprietary system. For reasons we do not understand
the .exe file published from Captivate will sometimes open up in
front of the .pps but other times behind the .pps which makes it
    invisible.
I was at the e-Learning Guild conference last week and
attended the stump the Captivate Guru's meeting. It was suggested
that I post here to get an answer.
Someone in that session thought perhaps there is some ini
code that might bring it to the front.
Thanks - Dottie - long time listener first time caller
    ;-)

Hi Dottie and welcome to our community
I'm wondering if the answer is as simple as this:
Check my theory out and see if it might have any validity.
Pay close attention to your steps.
I'm wondering if perhaps you see the .EXE pop in front of
PowerPoint on the first attempt. Then if you don't close the .EXE
and just click PowerPoint to call it forward, subsequent attempts
see that the .EXE is already open and simply begin playing the one
    behind.
If indeed this is the case, I would think you could work past
it by simply ensuring that the End Action is to Close the project.
This way the .EXE would play, then close. The next attempt would be
certain to pop the .EXE in front of PowerPoint.
Just a theory at this point, so I may be way off base. Be
interested to see what actually results.
Oh, and out of idle curiosity, who were the participants on
    this panel?
    Cheers... Rick

  • Imported files not appearing in multitrack view

    I'm using Audition 3.0.
Someone else used my computer and I believe they changed a default setting.  When I import an audio file it only opens in the edit view. When I try to import into the multitrack view the file doesn't appear in the file panel (but it does open in edit view).  Is there a setting to open in multitrack view as the default? I can't figure out why the file(s) don't appear in the multitrack file panel.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your reply.
    1. Yes, I am on a Mac using the latest operating system 10.7.4 (Lion).  I'm using a less than 2 year old iMac 27".  I have been using Dreamweaver for several years from about CS3  - before that I used Adobe GoLive.
    2. Yes, I installed the trial CS6 without any errors.  I have installed it twice now.
    3.  Yes, this is correct.  I have taken four screen shots for you to see.  The first one is one of my websites in CS 5.5.  The second is looking into the 'images' folder in CS 5.5.  The third shot is the same as the first shot but as seen in CS 6 and th fourth is the same as the second but as seen in CS 6.  You will see that the image files stop in the 'C's and the scroll bar is still close to the top so that nothing below the images folder will display when I scroll down beyond the bottom of the images folder.
You can see some of the missing filenames from the second photo.  They are all jpg files in this case although html and pdf files are missing further down.
The path to my local sites is ~user/Dropbox/Sites/sitename folder (I have three different folders for three different sites).
    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.
I also found in the process of trying to upload these screen shots that you can't add images using Safari.  I had to use Chrome. The 'insert' button doesn't work in Safari.

  • Crash on importing files not imported because of crash

    make sense?
I imported some photos and iPhoto crashed. When I reopen iPhoto there is a message:
8 photos have been found in the iPhoto Library folder that were not imported. Would you like to import them?
It crashes every time I click the Yes button. I don't care about importing the photos anymore. I just want to get rid of that message.
I've rebuilt using all of the options and it still crashes. I've tried to find the 8 photos via the Finder and just delete, but no luck.
There is no albumn entitled "Recovered photos ..."
Any ideas on what else I can do?
The photos were in jpg format that were all run through graphic converter.

In your library, in the pictures/iphoto folder, there should be a folder named "import". Empty it and you will be fine.

  • [SOLVED] Tint2 config files not matching

Hello, I just switched to Arch after using Ubuntu for a long time. I've decided to go the openbox route, and I am trying to using tint2 as my taskbar. I'm currently trying to customize it, but none of the files I download look the same when i load them. This is the screenshot of the config I got on the internet:

Alright, thanks for the help. I'll use it next time.
