Imported files with numbers get a strange order.

Hello,
When I import some pictures(making a stop-motion) with the numbers in the right order,
then in adobe after effects they get another order:
1
10
100
101
2
20
200
201
3
30
300
301
I think you get the idea, but I want that it just counts up like normal people do.
How do I do this or am I doing something wrong?

That's because you haven't looked.  I found boatloads of stuff using terms like file renumber or file rename.
Real complicated stuff, huh?

How to open a "corrupt" file with Numbers.
With excel it is possible to open such a file with the following error message :
"The file you are trying to open, 'filename.xls', is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?"
Clicking YES, the file is opening correctly with XLS.
How to do the same with Numbers?
When i try to open the same file with numbers i have no "error message" but the information contained in the file is not readable.
    Many thanks for your help

    Yeah that's true to an extant; microsoft did a good job fixing that but unfortunately allowed it to be re-introduced in 2006 with windows vista where they allowed file naming to receive destructive values (wasn't very fond of this);
in previous versions of windows such values once entered would be followed by an error message telling you those values couldn't be used
I wasn't aware it would pop its ugly head back up into windows 7 but I see otherwise as in the case of mine
(I forgot to mention the period preceded a parenthesis which in turn can be destructive to the file's original format)
Anyway photoshop wont open the file after changing it to .psd leaving an error message stating....
'Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop'

  • Can't open Excel files with Numbers

    Hi,
I'm having troubles when I try to open Excel files with Numbers. The iWork program simply shuts down and a message appears, telling that a "sudden problem happened".
Can anyone help here? I really appreciate.
    Rafinha

    Hi Rafinh,
    Welcome to Numbers discussions.
Numbers will open Excel documents. Sometimes deleting the Numbers Preference file will do the trick. Close Numbers then delete the Numbers preference file: home > Library > Preferences, com.apple.iWork.Numbers.plist
In the upper right of this window click Search thousands of questions have been asked and answered.
These Discussions are enduser helping enduser, not Apple employees answering questions. Questions will be answered when a enduser such as yourself finds time, desires to, knows the answer along with the time to respond.
Again, welcome to Numbers Discussions, have fun here.
    Cordially,

Import errors with numbers, not enough memory

    Hi heiko,
From your system profile line, it appears you should be asking this question in the iWork For iOS forum, not this one, which deals with Numbers for Mac OS X. I'd also suggest being a bit less cryptic in writing your question.
The link will take you to the iWork for iOS forum.

  • AppleScript open and save file with Numbers

    Hi all,
I need to save an Excel .xls file as an .xls file in order to break the links that are included in the original Excel file. Since Numbers doesn't have any actions for Automator, I hoped someone could help me writing an AppleScript?
It needs to open (Numbers) and all the .xls files that are added to a specific folder on my Mac, then save them to another folder as .xls (not .xlsx) and overwrite any existing files with same name. Since this all should work automatically, warnings and pop-ups that need a user to click an option are not allowed.
Didn't think this could be too hard, but I'm just a noob when it comes to AppleScript. Help?
    Thanks in advance

Check the attributes of the <textarea> tag. You can use wrap="no" or wrap="virtual" or wrap="hard" to define how the text area handles carriage returns.

  • Compressor crash when attempting import files with 00* in name

I produce several short video files every day and name them using a sequential five digit numerical naming convention.
I'm finding that whenever I'm near, at or shortly after crossing a 100 mark Compressor crashes when I try and import single files with the following filenames (these are the most recent examples):
    20993
    21000
    21001
    21005
The only way to import these problematic files is to select the file before, or after, then Command click on the filename causing the crash. Click Open to import both into the batch, and then click on the file I first clicked on and hit Delete to remove it from the batch, leaving the file with the problematic name.
For Example. I want to import 21005 into Compressor for processing, but every time I try and import it Compressor crashes. So I re-launch Compressor, click the little Q button and click on 21004, then press Command and click on 21005. Click Open, import window goes away to reveal the Batch window. Click on 21004, press Delete button on keyboard leaving me with the file that was causing the crash.
FWIW apart from the file duration/size, there's no difference between these files. In fact I can change the names and the files that used to import fine now crash Compressor when attempt to import with any of the filenames above.
Here's the info behind two of the problem files and also that of the two adjacent files that import fine:
(all files: Dimension: 720 x 480. Codecs: DV/DVCPRO - NTSC. Channel Count: 2. Kind: Final Cut Pro Movie File. No color labels.
    20999 (Imports Fine):
    File Size: 394,475,469 bytes
    Duration: 01'44
    21000 (Compressor Crasher):
    File Size: 324,052,925 bytes
    Duration: 01'26
    21001 (Compressor Crasher):
    File Size: 339.730.909 bytes
    Duration: 01'30
    21002 (Imports Fine):
    File Size: 348,707,181 bytes
    Duration: 01'32
    Compressor 2 - 2.0.1
    Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5
    1.5 B DDR SDRAM
    Mac OS X 10.4.8

    Hello,
    Thanks for the replies/info.
Yes the Panther and Jaguar install disks are retail versions, not specific machine versions. And the Jaguar ones worked for the Powerbook before.
The Powerbook I have is the Firewire 500mhz one, Pismo I think it's called. The hard drive is a 60GB one. I didn't have to partition it before.
Reviewing all the above, it would appear that the problem is me not being able to use an internal, built in CD/DVD drive to install from this time? The only other thing it could be I think is the crash I recently had has had some bad effect -- but that's unlikely right? So, I need to get a new DVD drive? Or is there any other way to get the OS onto the Powerbook without getting another internal DVD/CD drive? Is there anyway to install onto the PB from another machine maybe?
Does that sound right?: not being able to use internal DVD/CD drive is the source of my current problem?
    Thanks.

  • Error when importing file with "

    Hi,
In a text file if a field is having double apostrophe( " ), the file does not open in Import Manager. Get error as "Logon Error.... Line [x], Pos[1]". To test this,
    1. Just copy paste  the below 3 lines in a file
    2. Open in Import manager with delimiter as pipe ( | )
    3. Should get error
    4. Next, edit the file, Find & Replace all " with any other character like ! & try to open the file now!

    ABC|142|Three unique|2637
    XYZ|143|The "giraffe" is long|4315
    Thanks,
    Ketan

    Hi Ketan,
Even I faced the same issue with MDM7.1 while importing the "| data.
The solution is simple you have to check that open double coates are closing are not.
I fthe data contains "| is not a problem with version unless it should be properly closed.
What we did was we remove open  " coates or get the data with closed "
    Hope it will help you
    Thanks

  • Trying to import files with transparent backgrounds into Premier Elements 10

I am struggling to import files from Photoshop CS3 into Premier Elements 10 and preserve their transparent background. I have tried .png (8 and 24 bit), .gif and .psd files. I have tried rasterizing the type layer before "Saving for web and devices" but can't get anything to work. The imported files end up as either text on a white background (.gif) or the file imports as a black background with no type visible (.png and .psd). I have read a few forums but can't find any suggestions beyond what I have already tried. I also get the same problem if I "Save for web and devices" out of Illustrator.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.
    Mick

    kaare
You have brought up one very interesting maintaining transparency question which I feel goes more to the trigger on the
Premiere Elements Videomerge pop up than to the Photoshop CS2 Save As with or without a check mark for Maximum Compatibility
And, I find that Photoshop CS5.1 as well as CS2 involvement in this matter is the same.
I created three 720 x 480 pixels documents, each with a blue colored circle on a transparent background in
    Photoshop CS2 and saved each
psd with check mark next to Maximize Compatibility
psd with no check mark next to Maximize Compatibility
    png
Each of them was imported into a NTSC DV Standard Premiere Elements 11 Windows 7 64 bit project.
Each triggered the Premiere Elements 11 Videomerge pop up.
If I checked No for the program request to apply Videomerge, then all 3 results were the same, that is,
the area around the circle was transparent and the circle was not...just the way it was created in Photoshop CS2.
So, why was the Videomerge message telling me "Clip being dropped contains solid background color" when
it had transparency represented by black and did not have a solid background color?
Even more interesting was what happened if I selected Yes to the program's request to
apply Videomerge to create transparency for what it claimed to be seeing as "solid background color".
The result was the same for all three cases, that is, the inside content of the circle became transparent
and the "black background" became a "solid color".
Videomerge is not one of my preferred Premiere Elements options.
To avoid the Videomerge pop up, I would suggest placing a check mark next to the "Do not show again.",
followed by No in the Videomerge pop up. When you do, you should not be confused by the activities of the
Videomerge pop up activities and you should have no problems with the maintenance of the Photoshop
created transparency in the Premiere Elements project.

  • Open numbers 08 file with numbers 3.0

    Dear all,
I had an iMac running Snow Leopard + iWork'08.
I've just bought a Mac Book Air running Maverick + Numbers 3.0.
I can' open files created with Numers '08. System says that I have to upgrade files first with Numbers '09.
Unfortunately, I have not Numbers '09.
Anybody know how to open Numbers '08 files in Numbers 3.0 ?
    Thanks for your help.

If you can't get help at the first level of AppleCare, ask to be transferred to Customer Relations.
A couple of other options would be to buy the retail box of iWork '09 from a third party such as Amazon.com or eBay. Be sure to run Software Update after installing & before running any of the applications. You can also download the standalone updater from this page. Or check this link for the iWork '09 trial. I have no idea if it is still available.

  • Opening .xls file with Numbers

I saved a spreadsheet from Numbers '09 version 2.0 in .xls format and then tried to open it, but Numbers won't open it because off a reported problem with the plug-in to do that, "SFCompatibility plug-in." This used to work, I think. Perhaps the latest operating system update messed it up. (I have OS X 10.8.5.) Software update says there is no update for any of my apps. My Numbers software is in Applications/iWork '09.

I was not "fooled by Excel's ability to recognize the file format and apply the correct converter automaticallY"
What i mean is some people will export as a text file, but change the file extension to xls to force it to open excel when double clicked, and excel will open it just fine. Converting as it goes automaticaly and not even asking you any questions or putting up any errors.
I know because i just did it to validate my statement (I am working at a Windows machine at the moment), and it worked fine. Even though the file was actually a tab delimited file, with an XLS on the end. If excel was strict, it would have looked for a Binary XLS file and rejected the file.
This does NOT work with XLSX formats. You will get an error that its not formatted correctly. So if excel was able to recognize file formats and apply the correct converter automatically. they removed this ability in 2007+, only leaving it as legacy functionality.
Your statement would be accurate for plain txt files. But excel is NOT ablel to ID the format automatically.
Try saving a comma separated file with a  TXT extension, then try to open it by selecting "files of type" All files, in  an open dialog. It will start the converter for text files but will ALWAYS suggest Tab delimited. never the proper format if anything else. (we use Pipe | delimeted very often at work)
thereby I present you the possibility that it is you that has been fooled by Excel into thinking it knows what its doing

  • Error when import file with non-english character

    Hi,<br /><br />I have images file with non-english character (unicode), for example ABC<X>.png where <X> is non-english character such as japanese, chinese, etc.<br /><br />Whenever I want to import the file to After Effects (right click -> import -> file), I always encounter error:<br /><br />Finding file/dir info for the file "C:\...\ABC?.png" -- file not found (-43) (3::30)<br />Can't import file "ABC?.png": unsupported filetype or extension. (0::1)<br /><br />My PC is Windows XP Professional 2002 SP2 English.<br /><br />How to solve this problem?<br /><br />Thanks

Adjust your system language settings. Proper file name conventions require a consistent Unicode environment, so install the respective foreign language support files or switch the language system-wide. Mixing different zones/ code ranges is always a bad idea. If your system is not in Japanese, AE will always misinterpret the characters and refuse to import. If that's not feasible, simply rename the files.

  • Importing files with same name but different extensions

Hope I will be clear enough.
Lets say that instead of sending a file from Lightroom to an external editor, I open it directly in Photoshop.
When I'm done, I save the edited photo using the same name but in a different file format : IMG_1333.cr2 > IMG_1333.psd or IMG_1333.tif, and selecting the same folder location.
Then, I come back into Lightroom and synchronise the folder.
Why is the knew version of the picture not showing up beside the original file, despite the different extension ?
I notice that the different extensions ( .psd or .tif ) are recorded in the sidecar files field in the Metadata panel.
Of course, everything works fine if the file name is modified ( or just by selecting the "copy" option in Photoshop's "save as" dialog box ). Lightroom synchronise dialog shows the new photo to import.
So, why is Lightroom not making a difference between files with the same name but different format extensions ?
    Thanks for any hint :-)
    Gilles.

    Gilles-
I think your problem is likely that you have the option to stack the copy with the original turned on. First, right-click on one of these photos and go to the stacking menu. If Unstack is not grayed out then you have a stack -- select Unstack to reveal all copies.
To change the automatic stacking of edited copies from Photoshop, when you next choose to edit a file, in the bottom left corner of the dialog is the check box for unstacking. Clear it, and that choice should "stick" until you change it again.
    Hope this helps!
