Imported HD Videos from iPhone 4S do not display properly on iMac

I love taking videos with my iPhone 4S. But, when I import them into my iMac, they play back in a jerky fashion, not smooth. This raises two questions, one regarding the iMac and one regarding the iPhone 4S.
Is there a setting or a fix for this playback issue in my iMac?
Is there a way to export my videos on my iPhone 4S in SD instead of HD? (A variation of that question might be, is there a way to take SD videos with the iPhone 4S instead of HD videos?)

  • Error when importing photos/videos from iphone 4 into Picassa.....

When attempting to import photos and videos from iphone 4 into Picassa (v3.8) I get the following error message:
"An error has occurred while attempting to import. Either the source is unavailable or the destination is full or read only. (1)"
Any thoughts? I know this is an iphone specific issue as I was successfully able to import from another camera.
P.S Quicktime up to date and quicktime movies checked in Picassa.

I have the same issue. It started only after the most recent iPhone update though, leading me to think it's the phone, not iPhoto.
The pictures that do import are streaked/blurry with terrrible colour. I can still send them via email but they're smaller files.
Does anyone know another way to get my full-res pictures off my iPhone?
[edit] I found out that I could use Apple's Image Capture software, which worked like a charm but the pictures themselves are a mess. I'll have to try resetting.

  • Lately pdf files from the Web do not display properly; what is wrong and how can I fix it so I don't have to use IE?

I am a professor and frequently need to open pdfs of academic journal articles from electronic databases. Within the last two or three weeks, when I try to do this using Firefox, only the first page of the pdf displays and the rest are blank. In addition, a bar appears across the top with the message "This pdf file may not display properly." So I have had to switch to Internet Explorer to open the files and do my research. What is going on and how can I fix it so I can open pdf files from the Web in Firefox and have them display properly?

My question is simple - why would you put an application in production that has a lot of bugs? To replace a good and steady Adobe product? My customers will believe that I put a pathetic fallible form online. They are not sophisticated on computers so I just tell them to use IE. Ugh
    I must agree with pgwebgirl!

  • Can not import large videos from iphone to MAC or PC.

When I try to import photos from my iPhone 4s to my MAC (with iPhoto) or PC(with explorer) I got no problem at all but with videos larger than 2-3 gb, I receive the message:iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image. Anyone has an idea how to overcome this?

Use Image Capture to upload the video files to a folder on the Desktop and import into iPhoto from there.

  • IPhoto won't import .mov video from iPhone

I just got my wife a new Mac mini.  It is running the latest versions of Mountain Lion and iPhoto.
She's recorded some short videos of the kids with her iPhone (4s), and wants to organize these in iPhoto alongside pictures of the kids (she's done this before).
However, since getting her new computer, when she tried to import the videos, she got an error message that said the files were an unrecognized format.
We were able to retrieve the videos and copy them to her hard drive using Image Capture; however, she would still like to import them to iPhoto.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

There are many, many posts of this nature in these forums.  See, for example:
    iphoto won’t import mov video
For many, rebuilding the XPC helper cache solves the problem off the bat. In terminal try this, and reboot:
    sudo /usr/libexec/xpchelper --rebuild-cache
The above posted by Andy Ball on a thread related to a similar problem with Aperture:
Re: Import video to Aperture library on Mountain Lion
    Other things to try:
    1. create a fresh iPhoto library and try that.  (hold down opt while launching iPhoto)
    2. create a new OS X user (in system preferences) and try there.
In my case – and many cases – neither of those things work either, which means the problem is system wide.  Again suggesting that the xpc helper solution might work. But for me it did not either.
There are other suggestions that there are conflicts with Perian (on Yosemite) and flip4mac.  In my case uninstalling both of those didn't solve it either.
So maybe one of those solutions will work for you, results apparently vary.  But this is a huge unresolved issue many others are having as well.  I have a case with a senior apple advisor open, still unresolved. His suggestion of course, at this point, is an archive and re-install. I'm not ready to go there yet.
BTW, another thing he had me try was to import the file with Image Capture (which works).  Then open it in QuickTime Player X.  Then try exporting to 480p.  Does QuickTime crash?  It does for me.
    My summary:
    1. Files successfully import with Image Player.
    2. Files play with QuickTime Player X.
    3. QuickTime Player X crashes when exporting to 480p.
    4. Files import with iMove.
    5. Files fail to import with iPhoto (unrecognized format as with OP)
    6. iPhoto import failure/errors are system wide and not specific to a library or a user.
    7. rebuilding xpchelper cache and rebooting in my case does not resolve issue.
    8. same videos import fine in iPhoto on a totally different system (laptop running same versions of OS X 10.10 and iPhoto 9.5.1)

  • 1080i video from a Canon HF200 not displaying correctly after iMovie/iDVD

I'm not a technical person, so pardon my lack of technical terms.
I recorded video with a Canon HF200 HD video recorder in 1080i. When I plug the camera into my TV via HDMI and watch the video, it's gorgeous.
When I export the video to iMovie it still looks fine ON THE SCREEN. Same in iDVD. When I burn the DVD and play it, it looks like CACA!!!! The video stops filling up the screen and creates a black band on the top and bottom of the video.
What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it? Would Final Cut Express 4 fix the problem and minimize the workarounds that I need to get HD video to display properly in iMovie?

in iDVD, instead of "Share to iDVD", Share to Media Browser, at the highest resolution, i think they call it "HD". That will import it into a .mov file (that now resides within the iMovie project file). Open up iDVD and open up Media browser then iMovie and you should fine that version there. Drag it into iDVD and make the DVD. The "share to iDVD" option looks like "caca". This version, while hardly HD, looks a LOT better and may be tolerable. DVD by definition, is a compression, I would not dummy down your camera, that could only make it worse. I'm not sure about the black lines. You exported it (from camera to iMovie) at the 16:9 ratio I assume?

  • Receive an error message when trying to import any videos from iphone to iphoto on my desktop.  Help?

I have 6 videos on my iphone, varying in length from 24 seconds to 11 minutes, that will not import to iphoto.  I have tried to import them as a group and individually but get a message that 'there was a problem accessing the file.'  I had no difficulty importing over 300 photos from the phone to the desktop.  Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.  Thanks.  Anne

See if you can use Image Capture to upload the video files to a folder on the Desktop and then import from there into iPhoto.

  • After interrupting iPhotos import to mac from iPhone, it is not allowing me to shut down computer as it says 'Importing photos from library' i also cannot import photos from phone! Please help, VERY frustrating. Thanks.

After recently purchasing a mac i decided to upload my photos from my iPhone to iPhoto. I accidentally disconnected the charger and now whenever i click 'import photos' it tells me that iPhoto is 'importing photos to library' which i can tell you it is not. because the phone is not connected and it has been doing it for days now.i tried to force quit and it hasn't work. It won't let me shut the computer down now either as it thinks it is currently importing something so i have to wait for the computers battery to die which is ridiculous. Becoming increasingly frustrated with this problem and not sure where else to turn. Please help. Thanks, Neil.

If the  ➙ Force Quit method won't let you shutdown iPhoto try this command in the Terminal:
    killall iPhoto
followed by the Return or Enter key
It might take more than one go for it to take.
Failing that close all other applications and hold the power button down until the computer shuts down.  Reboot and try iPhoto again.

  • Why is my iPhone 4 screen not displaying properly?

    Hello everyone,
I have had my iPhone 4 now for a few months and it has worked fine until today.
The screen suddenly displayed multi-coloured moving lines and coloured blocks randomly in succession, before turning bright green.
I plugged it into my computer, whereby it wouldn't restore (errors 14, 14, 9 , 2, 9) and  I have now given up. I have tried to sort it but the screen always goes back to it's psychadelic display at some point in the restore & update and now it won't even switch on.
    Please help me!
    Thanks in advance!
    Nicola

You are experiencing a hardware failure.  Bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and probable replacement.

  • Aperture 3 does not import video from iPhone

Aperture 3 does not want to import my videos from iPhone anymore. This used to work perfectly fine before, now Aperture hangs as soon as I try to upload any video.
    Is this a known bug??

I'm experiencing the similar but Aperture not importing photos from iPhone. When I go to iPhoto and import then it works. My software is all latest.

  • How to import photo library from iPhone?

    Hello everyone,
I would like to import my photos from iPhone - but those not taken WITH iPhone.
I'll explain: I have photos on my PC. I can sync them to the iPhone. I now would like to import these into iPhoto. Under Windows, I can import as soon as I plug in the phone or access its disk. How can I do the same in my Mac?
    Thanks,
    Beto.

iPhone is not designed for this. No support for importing from the Photo Library, only designed to import pix you took on the camera.
You can look at PhoneView, which will pull photos from the Photo Library. HOWEVER, these will be down-sized low-res photos, not high-quality originals. You'd be MUCH better off using a USB drive to copy the photos from the PC and transfer them to the Mac.

  • I recently updated my IOS software on my IPAD with the latest version and now video from some sites does not run. I did not do the update on my other IPAD and the video runs fine. Any idea why.

I have an IPAD 3 and recently updated the IOS software with the latest version and now video from some sites will not display where it did prior to the update. When I go to those same sites on my other IPAD that I did not do the softward update the video still works. Any idea why and what to do to fix it?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
