Imported image's position moves when updated in Indesign CS6. Why??

After modifying an imported image from illustrator, the imported image's position moves within the frame of Indesign CS6 when the link is updated.

You have not provided any relevant information, so nobody can know. you can simply have added content that expands the bounding box. Well, whatever, ask in the relevant forums and be much more specific.

Tjshannonhigg you will want to ensure that the User account you are logged into has proper access to the temp directory and that there is sufficient disk space available.

We are all users here. You are not talking to apple on these forums. There is no way anyone here can know the decision making process apple uses to determine what changes to make to the operating system. Also none of use care about which phone you might buy next.

Image control mouse move event updates

I would like to drag the ROI around in the Image control (holding down the left mouse button) and continually read out the ROI coordinates. I can't find a way to do this: the mouse move event does not seem to fire if I hold the left mouse button down. I assumed that I would have
1. Mouse down when I click and hold.
2. Mouse move when I move the ROI around.
3. Mouse up when I release the left mouse button.
This does not seem to be the case.
I've done a simple workaround which is
1. Use the key up event to check that the space bar has been pressed.
2. Use this to toggle a "lock" boolean which locks the target to the mouse coordinates.
3. Use the mouse move event to return the Image Control Mouse Coordinates property.
4. Unlcok the target from the mouse coordinates by pressing the space bar again.
This kind of works, but it is much less intuitive than the standard windows "click and drag".
Any comments appreciated.

PS The Image Control is excellent, it has saved me lots of development time. Also, the ROI tools are hugely useful.

If you filter the mouse down event (MOUSE DOWN?) then the coordinated are always returned on mouse move event weather the mouse is down or not. I did get the coordinates when the left button was down anyway it was just when the right button was down which the move event was not handled (due to the popup menu consuming the event first?) I thing there is a good way to do this with dynamic event registration, and NI has a similar example of drag and drop of controls, but I am not at my LV machine to look for it right now. If I am wrong I am sorry it is early and my coffee is not brewed yet.

Why is the fontd process using up to 80% of CPU when I have InDesign CS6 open?

Macbook 13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008
OS X 10.8.4
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
This problem has arrisen within the past week and only happens when InDesign CS6 is open. I cleared the font cache last time and ran InDesign right after with no problem. Just started happening again. What gives?

Yeah, Font Book is how I've been importing many many different fonts I've been using in projects. I've skimmed the article you linked some more and it's great! I need to make the time to sit down and read it in depth to get it all down.
What's seemed to solve the probelm was repairing the disk and repairing permisions both a few times. That seemed to fix the issue entirely as there were some kinks in there that needed to be worked out from the recovery drive. Since then I haven't seen the fontd issue arrise again. If it does I'll post here. Thanks for your help!

Where/How can I update to Indesign CS6 8.01 or 8.02 ?

Due to problems within Interactive PDF's exported from Indesign I need to update my CS6 to a newer version - 8.01 or 8.02.
From looking through other threads it seems the interactive PDF problem was a bug which is now fixed in newer versions - (got that info here: https://forums.adobe.com/message/4482056#4482056)

The problem is when I follow this link above through to download the software update the links are all invalid or can't be found.
Can anyone indicate where / how I can update the software?
CC is not an option as I work for a studio and I need to remain on CS6 to have the same software as the rest of the team to ensure easy file sharing.

Works just fine. You need to use another browser/ check your firewall and router settings.

Problems installing digital publishing update for Indesign CS6

Hello,
I am having some problems installing update I need for Indesign CS6. I'm working on an interactive pdf and need to update my version of cs6 to use the digital publishing suite. Upon attempts to use the 'folio builder' I am asked to update and go to 'help' 'updates'. The Adobe Patch installer begins to load then immediately crashes. I have tried installing the publishing update from adobe licensing but the same problem happens when I attempt to install the file using the patch installer.
I'm using CS6 version 8.0, can anyone help?

Interesting that they're still fixing CS6. But are all the CS6 bug-fixes
only for CC subscribers, or only the auto-opening newer file versions

My created extension built in extension builder 1.5, when installed in inDesign CS6, shows nothing

Hope everyone is enjoying work.
I created my own extension in CS extension builder 1.5 for inDesign. It runs fine in debug mode with indesign CS5 and CS5.5 but when I tried to run this extension in debug mode with indesign CS6, the extension shows nothing in it. All UI components like input fields, buttons, texts etc are not shown. It stops me debugging the application.
Can anybody help me out?

Are you now using Extension Builder 2.0, or still 1.5?
If you're still using 1.5 then have you set PlayerDebugMode for CSXS 3? Normally CSXS will prevent extensions that are unsigned or have invalid signatures from loading for security reasons. Setting PlayerDebugMode turns that protection mechanism off, and allows the loading of unsigned extensions. Extension Builder 1.5 will automatically turn on PlayerDebugMode for CS5/5.5 (CSXS 2.0/2.5), but not for CS6 (CSXS 3.0), which was released after Extension Builder 1.5. You can turn on PlayerDebugMode manually though:
On Windows: Add a PlayerDebugMode registry key with value 1 under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\CSXS.3\
On Mac: Set the PlayerDebugMode key to 1 in the plist file at ~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.CSXS3.plist
Let me know if that solves the issue.

Imported images shift in colour when clicking on preview...?

I import my files from the cf card, as I've always done. The thumb looks fine but when I click on it and the preview is generated, it shifts in colour. And I can't shift it back to where I want it to be.
This seems to have started up suddenly. I have not made any updates nor have a changed my settings.
Can anybody help?

Have you changed the settings on your camera(s)? People usually report this when they see the JPG preview, created by the camera, and then see the converted-from-RAW Image created by Aperture. The only camera settings that effect the RAW file are for the exposure (aperture, exposure duration, ISO, exposure compensation).
It might also be caused by updating Aperture or your OS to a version that includes a newer version of Apple's RAW converter. Any recent updates? What version of Aperture? Is 10.7.5 correct?

Icons move when updating

This is just an annoyance really, but if any of the Apple developers read this, maybe they can correct it.
When I apply app updates right on my iPod, the apps that need to be updated move to the last positions on the last screen and update there. I then have to rearrange the app icons back to their preferred positions, or just do the updates on the desktop and sync after. This is a pain. I want to be able to install an update while out in the field and not have my icons moved around. I have several pages of apps and really hate to have the one I use the most move to page 4 when it's normally on page 1. Please fix this!

I noticed this myself and agree that it is a pain. I read another post that advised iPod touch users not to install apps via wifi. The post stated it was screwing up the OS. I found that iTunes would go into a kernel panic after certain wifi installs. Since then I have only updated while docked to my iMac.
Of course this is nothing compared to the slow backup problem that is fixed with the new upgrade. Maybe the icon problem is fixed. I got the update but I am going to wait on wifi upgrades for a while.

BUG - layer position moves when switching frames in timeline

When creating a new layer and positioning it in the active frame, the position is sometimes wrong when returning to that frame.
1. create multiple frames in the timeline
2. create a layer and position it somewhere in the image
3. view another frame
4. return to the original frame and the position has changed
Positioning the layer again seems to work, it doesn't move by itself when moving between frames, but remains in position.

Imported images have jagged edges when scaled down

Perhaps I'm missing something really obvious (like the quality thing in the After Effects timeline), but I imported a Photoshop image, a logo, scaled it down to 15%, and it has jagged edges. Ditto for a TIFF version of same. Starting resolution is plenty large.

You can adjust the apparent size of the image in the "media" tab of the property inspector. Select the photo in the media bin (not the layer in the timeline), then the media tab in the insepctor.
try reducing the size of the image to the size you are scaling it to (of course, you'll have to adjust the scale property of objects in the timeline which use that image). for example, if the image is 1000px wide, and you're scaling it 15%, then adjust the media size to 150px and restore the scale to 100%.
YMMV but it's worked well for me. sometimes adding a slight gaussian blur helps (<.25). it would be more effective to scale in an image editing app (like photoshop) to the desired size, but this is more flexible.

Error when updating Folio in CS6

I have a Folio that I built in CS5 published and everything, but I want to update it. I updated in CS6 re-saved all of the files and links, but I still get an error when I try to "update" in the Folio Builder.
Content generation error.
Failed to open the file. Please confirm the file can be opened in the current version of InDesign.

I did not have any yellow triangles. But upon further investigation, there are some upgrades in DPS CS6 version, thta might be better suited for a redesign as apposed to an upgrade.
What I belive to be the problem was the Alternate Layouts. I had them in different files and I think that was causing some problems. But I no longer have the luxury of time to fiugre this out, must move on.
