Imported images appear blurry

I'm just getting my feet wet with Keynote and I've opened up a powerpoint file which imported all the images in, no problem. As I continue to add new images to the file they show up low-res. I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wronog. I've tried dragging the images from the finder and adding them through the insert > choose method and they come in the same way. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

What version of Aperture are you using on your Tiger system?
I don't believe gamma settings changed from Tiger to Leopard (gamma 1.8) but they did change going to Snow Leopard (gamma 2.2). Since you're on Tiger, gamma may not be the reason for the difference, but it sounds plausible that you may have some settings using a different gamma in Tiger than on Leopard.

Why are my camera imported images appearing as mirror images in IPHOTO?

I guess you have things figured out but you do seem a bit confused - iPhoto and PhotoBooth are two totally different applications and iPhoto can not possibly import a mirrow image of a photo and PhotoBooth can not edit iPhoto photos

  • Why does my high res photoshop image appear blurry when placed in InDesign and Exported as PDF?

    Hi there,
I have a problem I've been trying to solve for days but just can't find the answer anywhere on the internet.
I have a large, good quality photoshop file (2268 x 979 pixels, resolution 300 pixels per inch). When I place it into InDesign, the image appears OK (I've changed my display settings to HIGH) - I then resize it in InDesign to 10% and the file still looks great! Then, when I export it as PDF (high quality print) it looks blurry.
Does anybody know why? The strangest thing is, I've placed other photoshop images in the same InDesign file and they look crystal clear. It is just this one I am having trouble with. I've saved it in the same folder as the other pictures, I've tried placing it as psd. , jpg. , photoshop pdf, png. everything...
The image looks great in both photoshop and indesign, only when exported as pdf it looks awful.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
    Many thanks in advance!
    Weronika

It's probably the extreme reduction -- you're throwing away 90% of the image pixels and interpolating, and then using jpeg compression on top.

  • Imported images appear too small in iphoto

Posted first in Leopard System forum. Assumed, can have something to do with import. (that's how I posted it there):
First wanted to post this in the iPhoto thread. But it has to have to do something with the import or permissions. Images of 164 KB are opening in my son's iPhoto (G4 iBook) big, filling the whole page. Same images put into the drop box and imported by direct connection to it to my G4 double processor 1.25 are opening in iPhoto just as small images, filling approx. half of the page. Tried to change personal permissions in the host and in the guest computer - nothing.
I was helped by advice to remove the user/Library/iPhoto preferences file. Removed, restarted, same problem. Was told to put the thread on iPhoto forum.
    Thanks for your input

    hi Bafomet
i'm not sure i have enough knowledge to help you but i do know that when you import images into iphoto it creates a thumbnail (incase you don't know), a thumbnail is a smaller lower quality image that is used for previewing the image i belive. Is the images you mentioned low quality? if so maybe these images are thumbnails
Not sure if i'm right but i hope it helps
    Good luck

  • Menu images appear blurry

I am using the "Reveal" theme which has several images along the left side and each of those images is pixilating even though the image size is 740x495 150dpi and RGB. The images appear OK on a TV screen but very pixilated on both Macs and PCs. How can I get them to be sharp on all computers and TVs?
    Thanks,

The images appear OK on a TV ....
This is the best way to actually judge the quality & performance of an iDVD. If it appears and plays well on an actual TV screen then iDVD has done what you have asked of it. Not much one can do beyond this with current media & burners.
    Try this setting also:
720 x 540 pixels for standard video in NTSC format
Btw ...what media are you using? I recommend using Verbatim DVD-R Minus media and burning from a disc image at 4x or slower using apple's DU or Roxio Toast.

  • Premiere makes imported images & movies blurry

I have imported a number of video and art files (.mov, .jpg & .png) into premiere and everything I import is blurry in the preview view and when exported. It also does this with any text titles I generate inside premiere. I have it set to the highest quality settings so I'm not sure if there's anything else that I can do to make it look like what it looks like if I open the image or movie outside of premiere, which is nice and sharp.

    par: 16:9
    fields: lower fields first
dimensions: I can't seem to find the article again but I found an article on resizing a project by hacking the project file and changing the dimensions in it. I did that to try and keep the dimensions proportional to the default 720x480. The reason is because some of my video had stuff in the frames around the edges that I didn't want. The only way to get rid of it was to either scale up the video (which I didn't want to do due to loss of quality) or make the project dimensions smaller. That way I could then scale down the video just enough to crop out the edge stuff.

I am experiencing Mavericks failing to copy subdirectories from usb sticks, I am backing up game saves from a console. Both sticks I use are fine, same permissions of course since the console wrote the files. Sometimes it copies, sometimes it doesn't. It seems to be related to the mounting process.
Thank God Apple hasn't (yet) broken bash.

  • Importing images makes them blurry and jaggy

Yes I have seen other posts on this. They were helpful and I progressed, but imported images still aren't right. I'm sure there must be just one small thing I'm doing wrong. Please help!
I imported DV NTSC footage (720x480, 0.9091 PAR). I have screenshots from Powerpoint slides that I want to overlay.
In Premiere they are blurry and jaggy. As you can see the original footage is fine, but when it's dropped in a sequence it's bad:
The interpretation seems to be okay:
I've created it correctly in Photoshop. You can see below that the file is 720x480px and I have the DV PAR set:
My output is for computer screens so when I export from DV to H.264 I select Field Order: None. But I noticed that if I export with Field Order: Lower the screenshot/image looks good. However the rest of my DV footage looks interlaced, so I need Field Order set to none.
Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong? It shouldn't be this hard to get sharp looking images into Premiere!
    Thanks.

    Hi Colin,
    Colin Brougham wrote:
Try this for preview in the Program Monitor:
Both my playback and paused resolutions are both full so that isn't the problem.
If it looked crappy in Premiere while building up the video I wouldn't care. It's the fact that it also looks like that in the exported that's the problem.
I'm sure it's some small thing I'm doing wrong like getting the framesize or PAR wrong, except that it's not those settings.
    Any other ideas?

  • Import to iphoto8 from HD - image appears blank

    Help!
I shoot raw with my nikon d80 and use capture one to convert to jpeg before i import into iphoto. this has not previously posed any problems, but yesterday when i imported all the images appear blank/black both when i view all events and if i open the specific event. However, i can open the blank images from there and view and edit them (though in edit the smaller thumbnails on top are still blank). This is more than just irritating! Please help!

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.

  • No Video Images Appear In iMovie Import Window

My Vixia hv 30 mini DV is connected and recognized, and when I choose to import video manually, and hit the iMovie Import button, the video plays on the camera screen but not in the iMovie import window on my iMac. Nor does the counter move, although a large message in the iMovie window says "importing". The camera's counter in the upper right hand corner of the window counts off, but not the counter next to the controls at the bottom of the window. A file name is created in the Event Library, but there is nothing in the file when I click it.
I have tried importing segments of all sizes and lengths to see if there was an issue there but no video appears on the iMovie screen, and there is no message that thumbnails are being created.
I have watched tutorials online to see if I am missing something but I have found no answers. I was able to import a one-minute segment automatically a few days ago when I first got the camera, but now Automatic does not work. It begins to import, with no images appearing in the iMovie import window and no movement in the counter, then after a few seconds the "Importing" message changes to "Stopped"
In my 'Save To" window, it says I have "5.7GB free/25 min.)" on my Mac's HD.

I found that this was due to my tape having been recorded on an older DV camcorder rather than an HDV. You'd think either iMovie or the Canon Vixia would simply tell you that in plain language, rather than give you the kind of cryptic meaningless message that the camera displays.
If you have this problem, go into the camera menu and make sure the format —DV or HDV— matches the content on your tape.

  • Camera Raw problem; images appearing soft and without definition on import

Can anyone help? I am having problems with ACR version 4.6 ( I cannot upgrade ACR without upgrading to CS5). When I open a RAW image in ACR, the image appears soft, and with poor definition. As a result, they have failed quality control for upload to the Alamy picture library, despite having been shot with a Nikon D3. I am simply opening them with ACR defualts, then opening to photoshop.
The files open fine in Lightroom and Nikon Capture NX, however I prefer to use ACR for my workflow. Any suggestions? I don't what to shekll out for CS% if the problem is still there.
    Thanks, Robin

Have you tried resetting defaults? It sounds like either your Camera Raw default settings have been changed, or sharpening has been set to Previews only.
    1. Open an image in Camera Raw, select the Details tab, and check that setting are like defaults: Amount 25, Radius 1.0, Details 25, Masking 0. You can always reset defaults from the little menu icon on the right of the panel title.
    2. Check Camera Raw preferences, looking for the item: 'Apply Sharpening to:' and make sure it says 'All images'.
You might want to check other preferences too, especially the 'make defaults specific' settings, which, when used, create multiple default settings depending on camera and ISO.

  • Wrong images appearing in project window / timeline

I'm doing a SIMPLE slideshow project for a frient. I've got a file folder of images that I imported into CS5. In the timeline the correct images are not appearing when placed from the timeline. Even in the Project folder most of the images are not what they are in explorer. Most, when opened in the Source Monitor are the correct image, even though the wrong image is appearing on the timeline, but even there many are not correct. What is happening is that the image of about 15 of the 105 imported images are appearing in the place of all of the other images. It's like something is cached, and the appropriate linkages aren't being made.
What's even more frustrating is that the ONLY effect applied to all of the impages is Scale to Frame. There are no transistion. Nothing.
What simple solution is there for images not importing into CS5 correctly?
    ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for that suggestion.  It DOES work!  However, it is time consuming since I'm working with over 1,000 images.  Instead, I was able to discover the following solution:
The culprit was the magic checkbox under Edit -> Preferences -> Media for "Write XMP ID to Files on Import."  This setting writes a GUID to all media imported into Premiere for use with all Adobe apps.  I actually found the reference to it in an After Effects forum.  I didn't fully understand exactly why this is useful when I'm only working with still images.  My guess is that somehow these GUIDs became crossed over.
I disabled this checkbox, deleted all references to the affected media, and deleted all cache files, including all files under C:\Users\Username\AppData\Adobe\Common\Media Cache.  I then reimported the originals of my source files from my network attached storage (SO thankful that I moved them offline without touching them).  Viola!  Everything works.
It was critical that I made copies of all of my data to my NAS.  Adobe actually writes this GUID for the XMP ID to the file itself, which changes the modification date of the actual file.  So, I guess the error will follow the file wherever it goes (in an Adobe application) unless it's resaved in PhotoShop to correct the error.  Luckily, the files on my NAS were untouched by Adobe, since I made copies to work with locally.  Only the local files were affected.  Once I disabled the checkbox, then Adobe no longer attempts to modify files on import and leaves them intact.

  • Aperture 3.3 updated. Importing images, can no longer access drive

This has happened several times. Let me try and explain it a little better.
I import images, step away from my computer, come back screen is blank (display asleep) the computer is not. I hit the space bar to bring it back to life and then try to do the next import. For some reason Aperture cant find the disk after that. I can get to it in finder and see the filesystem and folders.
The only way I can get back into the library is to disconnect the drive, close aperture, plug the drive back in and start aperture. If I close aperture and re-open it, it says I dont have the proper permissions to open this library, checked that, I have read & write. I dont have this problem ising the drive with any other app.
Never had this problem prior to upgrade & if I keep importing without the screen going dark it appears to stay working. Its very strange.
    Anyone?

I am the person who first posted this question yesterday. After reading other postings this morning, I followed the advice to "restore" 3 Mozilla files which had been quarantined by Norton Internet Security yesterday. My Firefox 3.6.6 now works great. Also see:
