Imported Images to Open in Photoshop

I am a commercial photographer with a special need.
I shoot many corporate events tethered to my computer.  I import the images with EOS (Canon Software) directly to Photoshop where I have a series of actions I have written to process the image and save it and ready Photoshop (CS4) to accept the next image I shoot.
I need a faster method where I can continually shoot and the photos are imported either to Lightroom, Bridge or into a folder even;  and then a script, action, command or whatever, brings into Photoshop the next unprocessed image.  I start the actions then  with a single function key.
Is this possible and where do I begin.  I am great at actions, but not so good at scripts...  Can Lightroom help?

Not possible natively as far as I know... You can assign a hot key or simply right-click and select "open in external editor".
If you have a multi-button mouse you could assign the key command to one of the buttons. I use a program called Steermouse to assign various commands in several applications to the Mac's Mighty Mouse buttons.

It depends, but it could either be the Grid or Pixel Grid under View>Show.

  • No image appears in the workspace even though the image is opened by Photoshop

I just installed Photoshop CC 2014.2.2. from the Creative Cloud so all settings are still default, etc.
However when I try to open a .jpeg, there is no image that shows up in the workspace. It is just a blank workspace, even though the file shows up  as "Background" to the right of the workspace.
I have tried both "Open With Photoshop" when clicking on the .jpeg, as well as having Photoshop already open and then choosing File -> Open and browsing to the file and opening it.

I would suspect that you may need to update you display's adapters device driver if Photoshop apears to be working but not displaying your image's layers correctly.

  • Images not opening in Photoshop

Hopefully just a quick 'tick this box' answer will sort this one out.
When I select to "open with external editor' a TIFF is generated, Photoshop CS opens but that's all. What do I need to change for the image to actually open in Photoshop for editing? Same happens for RAW, JPEG or any other format.
    Many thanks in advance.

  • Best file for importing images from Illustrator and Photoshop for small file sizes

    Hello Adode consults!
I'm in the process of preparing an inDesign file for a school project -- I've already had a few harrowing experiences sending large files to the printer that are too large to process (and a very grumpy computer, etc). The end result will be a poster around 36 inches by 4 or 5 feet.
I'm wondering if there are any best practices for making sure that the files imported into InDesign are a manageable size to begin with. Should I, for instance, be saving each file as a jpeg before placing in Indesign?
    Thanks!
    -Katherine

No, you should not save every file as JPG before placing it in INDesign. JPG is only usefull for raster images (like photos) without any transparency in high quality.
    When you place images use:
For raster images from Photoshop psd (rgb with color profile)
For raster images from Photoshop with form layers, texts or any vector element use PDF (or PDP) with layers.
For vector graphics from Illustrator use AI files or PDF.
For layouts from other InDesign projects use either the INDD itsself or export a PDF/X4.
But to the printer deliver a PDF according to their standards. E.g. when they need CMYK files export as PDF/X1a with the required output color space and the resolution they want. Produce the pdf via Export (Print).
Don't deliver open INDD. File size should for printing projects not be an issue.

  • Viewinging RAW files as thumbnail images when opening from Photoshop - not working?

I have just installed Photoshop CC on my new Windows 8.1 OS computer and when I try to open one of my RAW files into Photoshop from the Photoshop 'open file' menu item I can only see file icons rather than the thumbnail pictures that are in the folders? I can view the thumbnails just fine from Bridge but not when opening directly from Photoshop? I can view all jpg's but no RAW files (both Canon and Sony RAW). I tried installing the Microsoft Camera Codec for Windows 8.1 but it won't install - error message says "not intended for this operating system" in spite of the fact that it explicitly states it is for Windows 8.1?  Any ideas on what to do to be able to view the thumbnail images?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Greyed out images when opened in photoshop CS

I ahve been happily using my photoshop but recently all my images are greyed out with small white and grey boxes so cannot view or change.  I have clicked on the imagine open section in history and it makes not difference.  What am I doing wrong?

I shoudl warn you that although I use CS5 relatively well to edit I am not very technical so am finding all your helpful queries rather confusing.  However, I have managed to look deeper into my program and the images are in RGB colour on 8 but /channel.  However am working in CMYK.  THe problem is that when opened the images are now in the transparency grid and in order to view them I have to Zoom in or out whic his either too large or too small to work on.  I have not changed anything on the porgram from its initial settings.  From Chris Cox's help i am not really sure what he means by this so please help.  I am unable to find any telephone number for Adobe Help except on in the US where they tell you there is a 30 mins wait and I am based in UK.  ALso not sure what extension......or what that means.  Do you have a UK number I can call or help me further?  Thanks Lucy

  • I am getting grain when importing images from Lightroom to Photoshop, what is causing this?? It has only just started happening!

Just recently I went about my usual workflow, doing everything in Lightroom I can and then completely the last touches in photoshop. Now especially if I sharpen in lightroom I am getting this horrible grain all over my photo when I open the exported lightroom image in Photoshop. It has nothing to do with zooming in on the image or anything.
Also, if I open the Lightroom exported image just as a photo and not in photoshop I do not see any of the grain that is appearing when I open it in Photoshop, what has happened here?

  • CS3 Extended - Can't get images from Bridge to open in Photoshop

I am wondering if I have this CS3 installed incorrectly.  I had CS2 before and after my hard drive failed I ordered CS3.  Before the new CS3 arrived I downloaded Picasa from Google and that was my image viewer in the interim. I also installed a trial CS2 on my computer from finding it on the internet.  When I downloaded CS3, my RAW images were opening up in Picasa which I didn't like.  So, I went to Picasa's software and clicked no to opening RAW images in it.  That fixed that problem and I also uninstalled the CS2 trial.  But now my CS3 Adobe Bridge doesn't recognize that there is CS3 Adobe Photoshop when I want to open TIFF or JPEG images.  It opens them in Windows viewer.  Even when I right click on an image in Bridge to Open with, it only offers me two browsers, Firefox and IE.  Where do I go to reset the Bridge images to open in Photoshop?  Right now I have to switch back to Photoshop from Bridge and go to File-Open.

In Bridge, go to Edit->Preferences->File Type Associations

  • Image won't open in Photoshop

    Situation:
    Image file is on desktop.
    What I'm trying to do:
Right click on image, then open in Photoshop.
    Problem:
Photoshop opens, but image does not.
    However:
I can go to <file>, <open>in Photoshop, then find the image via that route, and then it will open. But it will not open by right-clicking on desktop image and choosing Photoshop as the application.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Kurt,
Many thanks for the link. Probably dumping and reloading Photoshop is the answer, and that's what I had tentatively concluded. I've been working my fool tail off these last few days, so I will probably wait to the weekend to try it.
When I first read the link, I thought to myself, How could that be? How could Photoshop been installed before the O.S.? And then it occurred to me -- and I'm guessing you nailed it, Kurt -- a few months ago Apple sent a tech to the house to replace the hard drive, etc., because of ongoing problems and issues. At that point, I probably lost the plug-ins and the links and, in essence, the OS got installed/reinstalled after PS, rather than the other way around.
I will let you know. In the meantime, if you have other suggestions and/or links, please do share them.
    Many thanks and kind regards,
    Les

  • Aperture fotos opening in photoshop as negative- HELP???

hi. im having a problem where when i go to edit an image, it opens in photoshop looking all cyan and negative. ive tried changing the image to rgb, 8 bits, seemingly everything. has anyone had this problem? pease help!
    thanks

Could you try changing or removing the colour profile?
This is just a guess, but if the image is CMYK to start with and it for some reason has an RGB colour profile, I guess the transfer can get strange.
If not, and the image simply is inverted, you should be able to invert the colours back in Photoshop. I think the keyboard shortcut simply is command+I.

  • Aperture 3 edits are not applied when opening in Photoshop CS5.

I have Photoshop CS5 selected as external editor.  I apply some edits in Aperture 3 and then open in Photoshop cs5 to do heavier work, but aperture 3 edits are not applied.  I get a new image from Master.  How do I get the edited image to open in Photoshop CS5?  I would rather do the cropping and simpler edits in Aperture, then if needed open the edited file into CS5.  I can open the file, but it is missing all of my edits.  I have basically a raw master file that I have to start with, but don't have the advantage of the raw file.

I'm right clicking on the photo and selecting -> edit with Edit with Adobe Photoshop CS5.  The photo opens in Adobe, but it doesn't have any of the Aperture edits applied to it.  I would have to start from scratch doing these in photoshop.  I want to be able to do the Raw adjustments in Aperture and then open into Photoshop.
To test I applied a crop in Aperture and then opened that file in Photoshop.  The full size image opens in Photoshop.

Same here. I've never had trouble with this function before.
It opens the Photoshop application with all the menus/windows, but it never opens the actual image I chose to work on.
I'm on a Mac, using OS X Yosemite, 10.10.1  Lightroom is version 5.7  Photoshop is CS5, version 12.0.4
FWIW, I also can't automate>Photomerge ... . Makes me think Photoshop, not Lightroom, is all wacky. I tried dumping PS preferences
