Imported images with poor quality

Hello,
why when I import images from Photoshop into InDesign project, do they lose quality ?
thanks

Ha!
Well, it's also worth noting that InDesign, by default, displays lower quality previews of the images when they are placed (to speed up processing and display). You can view the full resolution images by going to View > Overprint Preview, or by changing the options in View > Display Performance.

Please suggest some solution which will be great for me
    Thanks,

    Hi Paul and aktell,
My application having import image for use in Photo Album so when we import file in Adobe AIR application
we had code for create three folder 1) Low Resolution - This folder image used in Thumbnail view(imaze size 300 X 150)
                2) Mid Resolution - This folder image used in slideshow and it's image size is 1000 X 600
3)High Resolution - This folder image used in report generation  and its image size is original as user import from original source.
My  main issue is make only one folder which having best quality image ,without pixalated when we used in big container which having 1200 X1200 size and showing image with best quality and also it will not big size so if user import 500 hunderd images which cannot degrade performance of application.

  • DO NOT import images with no extension

If you import import images with no extension (I have lots of those from Mac OS 9 days) by reference and then consolidate them with the Move option you will encounter a serious problem (at least with Aperture 1.5.1. on an Intel Mac).
If you quit Aperture and launch it again, the thumbnails for those images will show as being referenced and broken. But another part of Aperture believes that they are in the library. The result is that your images ARE in the library, but are unaccessible to Aperture.
You can repair this by fixing the contents of the apfile and renaming the image file, but it is a major pain to do this on a large scale.
Here is the problem I encountered:
    http://homepage.mac.com/bagelturf/files/dbe9ea5dec3f703abb4efece1249d894-682.htm l
    And here is the solution:
    http://homepage.mac.com/bagelturf/files/8a3a218630e2b36136612e19b4495ba6-683.htm l

    Which version?
This is not my experience in 1.5.1: files without extensions are silently ignored, no? That's annoying enough!
Unfortunately, I have a lot of Genuine Fractals files that can't even be catalogued, let alone viewed. I have to keep using Portfolio, which deals with GF files just fine.

  • Importing images: why low quality?

Hi, I inserted a high quality jpeg into a slide for a demo.
    (Here it is
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/23205536@N04/2777619229/sizes/o/
But when the demo is rendered in captivate, it looks crappy.
Why? (I should not that it looks acceptable when inside the edit
    screen).
I had to scale the image down within captivate so that it
    fits inside a single slide.
Is captivate just mediocre in importing raster graphics, or
is there something I'm doing wrong?
    rj

    Hi rj
Try examining the Slide Properties where the image is of poor
quality. In the Slide Properties should be an option for adjusting
image quality for that slide only.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Imported images have poor colors

    Friends,
I'm a new user to Motion 5 having what I hope is an easily-solved problem.  I want to create an animated image sequence.  The images were originally created and stored in Aperture.  Because I understand that Motion does not permit import from Aperture, I exported the images to a folder as full-size .jpgs.  I then imported them into Motion.
Unfortunately, they did not import well.  They are of a lower resolution and the colors are off.  What am i doing wrong?
If it matters, I'm using the late-2009 imac with mountain lion.
    Thanks!
    Steve

JPG is a *lossy* compression format. You probably exported the images with compression. Many applications start JPG compression at about 70% and if you weren't paying attention to that detail, the images may suffer loss of quality (actually the DO suffer loss of quality, it's just not always that perceptible... until "later").
    Image formats that are lossless:
    PNG
    TIFF
    PSD
possibly a few others, but my favorite one is PNG with PSDs a close second (so I don't care.)
Also, if by "lower resolution" you mean smaller in size, there's a Preference to regulate how Motion imports large images. On the Project pane of preferences, at the bottom: Large Stills > select Do Nothing. Motion will import the images at full "resolution" (that's an overloaded term— in programming parlance). You'll have to manually scale or fit them into your "scenes".

  • Importing images with Lightroom 2  & Camera RAW 4.5

The following query has been raised with Adobe Technical Support (5 days ago and I am still waiting for a response/reply. They claim to reply within 24 hours but they have not on this occasion......they seem to be ignoring me
Perhaps a fellow user can help to identify or resolve the problem.
    Operating System:
Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 3)
    Software:
Adobe Design Premium CS3 (10.0.1); Photoshop Lightroom 1.4 (which was working fine) and Lightroom 2 (on trial and not working particularly well)
I am using a trial download of Photoshop Lightroom 2 (with Camera RAW 4.5 in Photoshop CS3).
I am having a few problems with editing Lightroom 2 images in Photoshop CS3 but I understand that Adobe is currently investigating a solution to this problem.
I have also noticed another potential problem since I have started to import images from a computer drive to Lightroom 2 and converting the Manufacturers RAW files to DNG (with the option to leave the files at their current location/drive).
My RAW and JPEG files open ok in Camera RAW (v 4.5) for basic editing and subsequently to Photoshop for more detailed work. The problem is that all my images are now opening as Smart Objects by default in Photoshop CS3, as opposed to opening as a Background layer". (I have not knowingly opted to use the Open as Smart Object option.
I am not entirely sure how this came about but I have also lost the capacity to edit images with empty Levels adjustment layers or percentage (%) grey fill option).
I am able to highlight the respective layer and create the empty Levels adjustment layer, change the blend mode to either Multiply or Screen, fill the Layer Mask with Black (Alt & backspace), change the opacity level as desired, select the brush tool and change the foreground colour to white to enable the applicable Dodge or Burn processes.
Unfortunately, it does not function irrespective of the preferred opacity level. The Dodge or Burn feature is static with no effect on the image.
I cannot recall any settings to open all files as Smart Objects in Photoshop CS3 but would welcome some help in identifying such a setting if it exists. Alternatively, I would welcome any other suggested methods of correcting the above difficulties.
The same difficulties are evident when I try to use the Dodge or Burn features via the Edit and Fill option with a percentage of Grey and the Overlay Blend Mode.
The "Common Denominator" of the above difficulties appear to be Lightroom 2 and Camera RAW 4.5 (individually and or collectively) and now I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Are any other users experiencing similar issues or have any suggestions about how I might correct or resolve these problems? ......
I am not afraid of hearing or accepting that the "Dummy Factor" has played some part or how I may release myself from the said "Dummy Factor".....any help is welcome help.
Adobe Technical Support seems to be ignoring me......I wonder why?
    Regards
    Bob Wallace

Essentially you are wrapping the raw image data into a special type of layer, a "smart object". You can then revisit and fine tune the Camera Raw conversion as often as you want and take advantage of working directly on the raw data in its pre-Photoshop purity. You can also apply to this smart object layer a number of Photoshop adjustments and filters - and again redo and fine tune them as often as you wish.
You'll find them explained in a number of recent books. I know Scott Kelby is keen on them, there are examples on Russell Brown's site, and my own book last year on B&W strongly advocated their use.
    Have a play.

  • Videos .avi with poor quality on iDVD.

I am new user on Mac. I work with soccer match analysis and I have to use the softaware on windows plataform.
I creat videos (.avi) with good quality if I watch on Windows Media Player or TV. When I watch on my Mac, they have a real poor quality (defocused and trembled).
I used to creat my videos on this software (windows) and I burn de DVD on iDVD.
Do I have to convert my .avi videos to any other extension file?
When I converted my .avi files to .ogm files the quality was better, but I couldnt use these files on iDVD.
Are there anything that I could try to get better quality on my video files?

    Hi
I would convert the .avi to streamingDV and use this in iDVD.
    .avi
You can use MPEG-Streamclip to convert the AVI files so that QuickTime can play them
    and to streamingDV for iMovie.

  • Importing images with text into Final cut pro

I'm using FC Studio on a 15" Powerbook 1.67 GHZ 1.5 GB RAM OSX 10.4.9 with a 300GB external HD.
I'm editing a short film and am using some still images. I've successfully imported and used photographs edited in photoshop. I'm trying to import what is essentially a screen shot of a MSword Doc consisting of boxes, text and graphics.
I've exported the word doc to PDF and imported to photoshop with 300dpi and saved as both jpeg and png. When viewed in photoshop the resolution of the text appears normal. It imports sucessfully but when viewed in full size in the timeline or external monitor the resolution of the text is terrible. I've also tried adjusting the scale of the image in the Canvas.
I've read up on this issue a little and have tried reducing and increased the image size and dpi. Has anyone else tried to import still images with text??
I apolgise if this issue has already been addressed - I've tried using the solutions provided for still images (without text) but have come up against a wall!
I would appreciate any help or feedback!

I have used Adobe Illustrator saved out as.png with great results.

I'm trying to import a picture that has a transparent backgound so when i layer it over video its just the picture itself not the canvas it was made on.
In photo shop I made it on a transparent canvas.
    Whats my next step?

    Thank you.
I have made my image with a transparent background in photoshop, now I need to bring it into final cut pro maintaining that transparent background, so I can layer it on video.

  • I am getting my third battery and charger! What's the deal with poor quality?

My macbook is a late 2009 model.  It's always been running great, but I have some key issues that are making me question ever buying a mac again... For starters, I am purchasing my third battery and charger since owning this computer.  I am not very happy with the quality of these devices...  The battery is buldged out, and looks like it's ready to explode any day! The power supply is frayed, and exposing bare wires!  What is the deal with such poor quality products? I always thought Apple was top notch in high quality, but lately, I've been proven wrong...
    Power cord:
    Battery:
Seems to me that these issues REALLY need to be addressed by Apple.  The reviews on the power supplies are ridiculous!  Numorous complaints, yet Apple has YET to do anything about it!  So my question is, what is Apple going to do about these issues?  These need to be addressed, and fixed, ASAP!  I owned a Dell laptop for 6 years, and never had an issue with the batteries I had, OR the power supply, and it cost me half the price of this macbook.

That would be awesome, if the nearest service area wasn't 4 hours away.... It would cost me just as much in gas to drive down there as it would just to buy a cheap replacement off of ebay...

  • Pixelated images (with High Quality Display turned on)

Here's my problem: The images look sharp on the internet, but when I download them, place them in Indesign and print them, the look pixelated!
Take this one for example: http://media.smashingmagazine.com/images/typefaces/productus.gif
It's resolution is 72 ppi. But when I place it onto the Indesign A4 page (or Letter format for that matter) it occupys almost entire width of the page.
Why is it so? Why is it so big by default without enlarging it? It's kinda logic that a small 72 ppi image stretched across the whole page will appear blurry when printed on 300 dpi printer.
So how can I set the indesign page to 300 ppi/dpi so images with lower restion will appear smaller when placed on the page and - will be printed sharp?

    mike.n03 wrote:
Where can you specify this preference?
And you mean there's a script for InDesign? Wow, it would be cool to get it. So far I solved that problem by recording an Action in Photoshop and than apply it to all the images using Batch command.
Preference is down at the bottom of the File Handling section ...  Check the bos to preserve dimensions and a the relinked file will be scaled back to the same size in ID. Uncheck, and the scale percentage will be preserved.
Almost anything is scriptable in ID (but I don't write them). I recall a script that was posted a year or two ago that would allow you to select an image and type a desired effective resolution into a dialog. The image would get scaled to reach that effective ppi. Your batch action in Photoshop is fine, and useful if you want to palce everything at 100%, but it isn't required to change the resolution in Photshop to achieve what you want. Scaling in ID is exactly the same thing as changing the resolution without resampling in Photoshop. No pixels are added, removed or altered -- only their dispalyed size is changed. If you want a script to set all images to 300 ppi effective resolution, you should probably pay a visit to the scripting forum.

  • Importing images with Aperture 2.1 Trial

I've installed the latest trial version of Aperture and have tried importing images from one of my external hard discs, but having navigated to the folder containing the images I want to download, (all of which are RAW files from my Nikon D300), no thumbnails show up and Aperture tells me there are no images that I can import.
I've navigated to other folders that contain various other kinds of image files, (e.g. .JPG and .TIF files), and still Aperture won't display them for import. However, when I connect my camera direct to my laptop and navigate to its folder, no problem! Up come the thumbnails and I can import as many as I want.
Does anyone have any idea what might be going wrong? i.e. Why can't I import RAW files from my external hard disc?
    Many thnaks,
    Chris

I'm having the opposite trouble. All of a sudden, Aperture refuses to show thumbnails or download images from my Nikon D-50, but I can get them using Image Capture and then import from the hard disk.

  • Importing images with folder structure

    Hi
I want to import images into Lightroom that are on my hard disk but keeping the existing folder structure.  When I try this, even if I tick include sub folders, the images import but all within the parent folder - all sub folders are ignored.
Is there a way around this?
    Many thanks

Are you selecting "Add" at the top of the import dialog when importing?  That preserves folder structure by adding them to the Lightroom catalog in-place.

It is possible that your ISP sends images compressed to speed up the transfer and adds a JavaScript to each page to make it possible to see images in the original quality.
If you want to see the original image quality all the time then you need to contact your ISP and ask what to do to opt-out of that service or see if there is a FAQ about it on the web page of your ISP.
