Imported Library but all content has to be downloaded?

Hi,
I recently rebuilt a home computer. I had kept my entire media library one a second drive that I transferred into the new system. After repointing the iTunes library to the root iTunes content directory on this drive, my content does not appear in iTunes. I used the shift-double click method to try and import the library and no change. All content in iTunes is showing as being backed up in the cloud and downloadable but I have all of the content in the designated directory.
Any thoughts?
Just as a FYI, if I launch a video file and direct it to open in iTunes it picks up the file and considers it "in the library" instead of needing to be re-downloaded from the cloud. I certainly do NOT want to go through this across thousands of files.

Yes, updated to firmware version 1.28. That was the 1st thing I did.
Then I authorized my iRiver. ADE had been installed way before I got
iRiver. It has a couple library books there. I hoped to read them on
iRiver. After I read this thread and another one at

CtrlShiftE and CtrlShiftD to de-authorize both my computer and the
device. Then authorized both and had to download books again, deleted
previously copied books from iRiver and copied fresh copies. No luck.

Many thanks for your post. I've been trying for days to get this sorted and was getting well fed up with I-Tunes. Really thought i'd never get it working again. Tried un-installing it, loading older versions and they still wouldn't work.

If you bought it on your computer's iTunes then it will have downloaded to the Books section of your computer's iTunes library. You should be able to sync it to the iBooks by connecting and selecting the iPad on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (on iTunes 11 you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC) and then on the Books tab on the right-hand side of the screen selecting and syncing that book. Or you should also be able to re-download it directly on the iPad via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app - it should sync/download to the Books collection in the app.

IPhoto won't open. All it has is the downloading symbol.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue. For instance, what's the "downloading symbol"?

Purchased items not in library but itunes says it is already downloaded. It is in my i-phone library but when I try to download ot computer, it will not let me. It acknowledges that it is already purchased but says it is already donwloaded. It is not.

ITunes Library Loses All Content

* APPLE SUPPORT PLEASE HELP *
I have an intermittent problem wherby all content is lost from the iTunes library (Music, Films, TV, Books, Apps).
It may be caused by syncing to my new iPad (I also sync iTunes with my 2nd Gen iPod Touch). The iTunes Library.itl file either gets deleted or corrupted.
I've tried backing up the files found in the c:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes folder (see list of files attached).
Restoring these files fixes the problem but I don't want to have to remember to backup these files everytime I purchase an App or import music into iTunes.
I have copies of various backups of the iTunes library files if that would help.
Volume in drive C is Vaio System

I accidentally deleted my whole i tune library. I was able to retrieve the entire library, but all my play lists have dissapeared and iTunes says that my ipod is not synced with this computer. Can i sync my playlists from my ipod to my itunes?

i accadentally deleted my entire library (over 10,000 song) when i was trying to delete an old back up file off an external hard drive. Now when i open I Tunes and connect my ipod, a message says tht my ipod is not synced with this computer. This is the only computer this ipod has ever been synced to, so i don't know how to reconnect the two. I was able to restore all my music to the itunes library, but I lost all my playlists. I spent considerable time creating the playlists and they are stll on my ipod. Can I somehow sync in a way that my ipod can give the computer my play lists?

With your iPod connected to iTunes right->click on it's device name in the left hand pane of iTunes under devices and select Export Playlists.

Mauualy sync ipod but all contents greyed out. Help!!

I have added items manually (box ticked for that and no auto syncing) but now my ipod touch is full. yet when I click on my ipod in the menu on the left, all the contents are greyed out so I cannot edit anything. I can however edit everything in my itunes library. why is this. I have downloaded music recently but cannot add it as ipod is full. Would appreciate help but not very technical so please please explain in a way I can hopefully understand!!

It sounds like you aren’t able to backup your iPhone 5c because it isn’t showing up as a device in iTunes. The suggestions in the article below will most likely resolve the issue, use the first article if you have a PC and the second if you have a Mac.

Ipod re-intalling all entire library, but used space has doubled!

Odd. Plugged in my Ipod (30g video) to re-charge and my Ipod began updatting the entire library. I didn't think anything of it, it's been awhile and I had added about 10 new songs.
Wehn I got back from a meeting, the library was complete, but my used space has doubled! Almost like there are two version of everything.
This ring a bell to anyone?

This didn't work. I get this error when repairing the disk "The underlying task reported failure on exit" And when I gave in to restoring it, I got this error "The ipod disk does not have the correct structure. You need to restore the ipod" Which what it was doing. Why would I get the error? And the next time I plugged in the pod it mounted, itunes recognized it, but it only had 2GB since that was the only amount it restored the first time apparently. Any more ideas?

Transferring iTune Library -- but not content -- to my laptop

A few years ago my iTunes library got so big I had to put it on a separate hard drive. I access it through my laptop, which of course has to be connected by cable to the hard drive.
Now however, I want the ability to open iTunes on my laptop even if I am not plugged in to the hard drive. So I am hoping there is a way to move my 'library' (am I suing the right word?) to my laptop so that I can open iTuns whenever I want, even if it can't access all of the content -- which will still be on my hard drive.
Is this possible, and if so how?
Also, if it is possible, will I be able to access all of my music on the cloud from my laptop when it isn't plugged into the hard drive, or does whatever has the library on it have to forgo the option to play music off of the cloud?

There's ways to do some of what you want to do but it won't be pretty, nor what you really want to do, nor easy to maintain, and I don't know if I am ready to spend 20 minutes typing in instructions which would also probably need me to test them on my computer which I am not prepared to do. I'll go the easy route and make these offerings:
I am pretty sure playing music on your laptop off the Cloud downloads it to your designated media folder so it will end up on your computer like it or not.
You don't have to start iTunes from your main library. You can start iTunes on your computer without your drive turned on. iTunes will go back to using the default location and create a new, blank library or use one it finds there. Do what you want with it. Next time you want to use your old library, start the external drive, then start iTunes while holding down the option/alt and guide it to the iTunes Library.itl file on your external drive.

Importing library but missing ratings stars

Hi,
I have imported my old library and songs from an old computer to the new one. Music is ok but I seem to have lost all ratings of files (the stars).
How can I fix that? Will it workt just to connect my IPod or will I lose all ratings there also? Thanks for your support.

Ratings, playcounts, playlists, etc. etc. are all found in the database file of your iTunes folder. When you go into your iTunes folder you will see the iTunes Music folder, an XML file and then another database file. I believe on Windows machines it has something like an .itl extension? That last one is the one you want to bring over from your old computer.
So on the new computer, close iTunes and move the current itl file to the desktop. Now copy in the old itl file from the old computer. Restart iTunes and see if it looks better.
Note, that if you have added anything, changed ratings, deleted stuff, etc. on our new library, the old itl file will not reflect those changes.

Import successfully but all tables and data are not completely importing

We have A UGS product called Teamcenter running on oracle 9i database. It is developement so it is very small 200M The problem is I am doing daily export but when imported back into DB it does not recovering all the data that I had exported. I am wondering any special about UGG product that requires special method for backup??? Anyone familiar with this , I would appreciate if you can provide me some leads .Thank in advance.

Don't know about UGS but it will be helpfull if you tell us that how are you taking the export?? Means full database or schema level and also how are you importing??

All content has shrunk to the centre of the spread and cant be edited.Help!

Im working on a fairly large document and just noticed 4 of my earlier pages have some issues. All the content on these pages has shrunk to a minuscule size at the centre of the spread. Im not sure how this happened. Does anyone have a solution? Unfortunately I cant undo or access a relevant backup file, as this happened early on in the process.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This sounds like User Error (sorry, no insult intended).
It's possible to have objects selected on a page other than the one which is currently visible on screen. Simply changing the view doesn't necessarily make the page you see "active." The active page is the one highlighted in the Pages panel, and if you've left something selected, or issue a select all command and then a keyboard shortcut for a transformation or enter scaling parameters in the Control panel and hit enter, you might get scaling unseen on the active page which is not in view, and you might not notice, thinking instead that the command simply failed. I know that's happened to me on more than one occasion while working on long documents.
If the undo chain is no longer availble, I'm afraid I don't no any way to fix it other than go back to those pages and make corrections.
