Imported mpeg layer 3 audio

I hope i have the right section, my first post.
I have downloaded an albumn and i cannot get itunes to up load it.
I have tried dragging and dropping the folder moved but still know music.
I also tried changing the encoder in the import in preferences still know luck.
Please help.
I got the albumn fron bit torrents would that make a difference??

I had this exact problem! See i got this CD from a friend of mine full of mp3's. One day they play fine and then the next totally weird.
Just discovered the problem a few hours ago... another hour of grueling work and failed attempts and voila!
BUT FIRST! check if your mp3's are openable (no.. not a word) by Quicktime.
(Right click --> open with --> Quicktime/select program --> Quicktime)
So what I did is that I installed "mp3tag": http://www.mp3tag.de/en/download.html
(if you see it in a weird language just click "english" in the top right corner)
Now open up mp3tag and add all of the mp3 files that did not work. Then you select them all (i have windows... ctrl + shift or however you select multiple songs in itunes on a mac).
Finally right click (still holding shift or whatever you use) on the column thats says tag and select remove tags.
For me the tags was changed to IDv3.24 or something like that. Open itunes and enjoy... hopefully?
Anyways hope this works for you
(tell me if it does!)
P.S: I noticed that the mp3's that i converted to AAC (before all of this misfortune happened) using itunes changed tags and still played fine. If you want to convert and possibly eliminate further chance of this happening again:
select mp3s --> Advanced --> create AAC version
BTW a new AAC version is made but the original MP3 file is still there too

  • Editing MPEG-2 files with embedded MPEG Layer 2 audio in FCP?

I need to edit .mpg files, MPEG2 with MPEG Layer 2 audio embedded. I can read the files in Quicktime no problem, but if I import them in FCP, there is no audio in the timeline, only video. If I try to build a DVD, DVD Studio does not recognize the file type. If I try to export it from QT in any other format, there is no audio in the new file.
The MPEG files have been created by a Canopus encoder card inside a Windows based broadcast video server at work. I would have thought that MPEG files were somewhat standard... I guess not!
Is there a way to convert these files so that I may use them in FCP or DVD studio Pro? Or configure the apps... or have a special codec?

Download the freeware program MPEG Streamclip. It can demux and convert the files to match your FCP Sequence settings (in most cases).

  • Trying to get an MPEG Layer 3 Audio book onto iTunes

I purchased an audio book that downloaded in an MPEG Layer 3 Audio format.  I have two questions...
#1 - I've researched importing MPEG 3 Audio music into iTunes and it typically tells you to just do a drag-n-drop into iTunes.  Do they mean drop it into the folder that holds the iTunes music files or drop it right into iTunes as it appears on you screen when it is open?
#2 - The book downloaded as many smaller files all making up the single book.  I don't want to load each individual one into iTunes do I?  Or do I load all of them individually and then make a play list that will play them consecutively so I can listen to the book?
    Thanks in advance!

Here's what worked for me when iTunes would let me just drag an drop mp3 files into a new playlist on my PC.
-First I made sure iTunes my default audio player.
-In the folder containing them I selected all of the mp3 files I wanted to add to the new playlist.
-I right-clicked the selected files and clicked "Open."
That's all I needed to get the mp3 files into the "Songs" display of "My Music" on iTunes. The rest was straightforward. Here's hoping this will work for you!

  • MPEG Layer 3 audio files have changed into MP3^^ files,What is ^^

MPEG Layer 3 audio files have changed into MP3^^ files,What is ^^ and why wont the music files play anymore??

I reinstalled OSX on my macbook which previously played all avi files with no difficulties. Now I am having difficulties playing Avi files with quicktime PRO that use the Mpeg layer 3 codec. I have done the following with no success: downloaded flip 4 mac, divx, xvid, 3ivx, Xvid codecs, changed MIME settings, and deleted and reinstalled.
Depending on the specific version and sometimes the ordering in which they were installed, you may have created a conflict among the components here. While most current VidX components should be able to play MPEG Layer-3 audio, v5.1.1 is the only free VidX codec that is bi-directional. If that is not a problem, then I would recommend you remove (or "hide") all components in the main "Library > QuickTime" folder. Next I would determine if one (or more) of the AVI associated components can actually play the specific files mentioned on their own. You do this by installing a compenent to be tested, opening the player with one of the problem movies, and checking for correct audio and video playback. Log your results, close the player, remove the tested component, and move on to the next component to be tested. Once you deterime which component(s) may function correctly, I would then move on to determine which specific components are in conflict by repeating the tests but leaving the components installed after each test. In this case start with a component that is known to work and is the one you most desire to use (if more than one works). If the player stops working, then you have located a potential conflict. Set the offending component aside and continue testing until all components have been tested and are either installed or set aside. The last step is to simply evaluate component alternatives and configure you system for those files most often played. In my case the VidX v6 Pro components did not seem to get along with the 3ivX D4 v4.5 and/or Casio AVI and/or XVIDDelegate component combination.

  • MPEG Layer-3 Audio not playing in IE - Plugin problem?

Please can someone advise me how to rectify the following issue. I updated Quicktime last night to 7.6.2. Since then I have been unable to play quicktime audio files in IE, where previously (yesterday), this would work.
Audio links for MPEG layer-3 files now do not work, and instead I get a blue Q with a question mark, and a red cross where the quicktime logo should be. The page informs me that audio requires quicktime 7, though I aleady have this installed and have the audio files associated with Quicktime.
Also, when I go into the MIME settings within Quicktime preferences (Vista Platform), it does not bring up the expected window and directs me to Windows file association.
Is anyone able to help. I have made no changes to my system other than updating Quicktime.
    Thanks in advance.

I apologise if there is an obvious solution to this. I am no expert when it comes to this sort of thing.
If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful. It is quite frustrating when you do the recommended (i.e update) and things stop working.
    Please help.

  • Imported mpegs have no audio

    Hi all.
When I import mpegs into FCP I get decent video and no audio track. Any thoughts on how to correct this? I'm probably missing an easy fix, but can't figure it out.
    Thanks,

You can't work with MPEG video in FCP.
Download [MPEG Streamclip|http://www.squared5.com] and convert the files to one of the editing codecs found in FCP's Easy Setup menu.

  • Imported mpeg with asynchronous audio

    Hello together,
i've got a little problem while creating a film for my brother.
I captured some old family videos with my video card and the software i used saved them as mpeg 2, with variable bitrate in video and constant bitrate in audio which is mp2. This video is playing properly in media player classic and vlc.
After importing one of these files i found out that audio and video are asynchronous playing in the preview video.
I looked into the elements help about this issue but there only was the hint to change the file format to avi. They do not tell which kind of avi i should use.
So, not knowing which file format to use i tried a lot with different containers, different video codecs and different audio codecs... I think it was about 20 or 25 different combinations from h263, h264, divx, xvid, flash, wmv7/8/9, mpeg2, DV, theora and so on. I used avi, mpg, mp4, mov, ogg and wmv as containers.
Half of these outputs were alreday asynchonous with the normal video playing software and the other half was asynchronous in PRE 9.
Has anyone got an idea what i could try? Is there a format combination that will work properly? Or can i change something in my source mpg to play properly?
    Thanks in advance,
    Norman Maehler

I did not know that it could capture to DV-AVI, but i cannot capture all files again, because its 20 hours of movie and it should be a present for my brother to his birthday which is already over... Besides i have to stay at the player because the video is quite old an broken at some times...
Next time i will try to use the DV-AVI.
But why can PRE import mpeg2 films while it cannot handle them properly? They are not asynchonous, because the can be played perfectly in sync with several media players?!
I converted one mpeg2 file to DV-AVI and imported it into PRE. There now the audio is quite good, but the video is too fast and makes some loops while playing in PRE. My media players are playing the file perfectly again...
By the way: I am using mencoder behind the Super-Gui to reencode my Video-Files if that may help?
Edit: @ nealeh It did not give me the choice for DV-AVI, because i was not recording from DV-Camcorder...
Edit2: Now with Avi container, DV-VIDEO as Video Codec and WAV-(pcm 16 little-endian) as audio codec the file is 5 times larger than before but it works

  • Easy Setup - Format used for importing MPEG-4 clip

I am trying to import a movie to FCE and wonder which format should be set in the Easy Setup. Thx
Used MPEG Streamclip to check the info:
    Video Tracks:
    Generic MPEG-4, 640 × 480, 29.97 fps, 997 kbps
    Audio Tracks:
MPEG Layer-3 Audio stereo, 48 kHz, 64 kbps
Used QuickTime Player Inspecter to check the info:
    DivX 6.0, 640x480, Unknown
    MPEG Layer3, Stereo, 48.000 kHz

You'd better first convert the movie (using MPEG Streamclip you already have) to the standard NTSC format: open your file in MPEG Streamclip, then Export to QuickTime (cmd-E - NOT Export to DV!) with Compression: Apple DV-DVCPRO/NTSC, Quality: 100%, fps: 29,97, Audio: uncompressed, Stereo, 48 KHz.
Then in FCE select the DV-NTSC Easy Setup before creating the sequence you'll use for editing.
Finally import the converted .mov file into FCE and drag it into the new sequence in the timeline.
That should do it, and the resulting .mov will not require video nor audio rendering.

  • From MPEG layer-3 to MPEG-4??

    Hi,
I have exported a QT slide show from iPhoto 4 and resulted with a MPEG layer-3 Audio. In the past, I'm not sure how I did it, but I do have another slideshow that was an MPEG-4 Video with a ".mov" extension, and this later one, when posted on .Mac account webpage, does automatically start playing as it download. But the MPEG layer -3 does not. So with QT 6.5.3, I tried to export the file using the expert settings, and did 3 separate attempts. 1-Movie to Hinted movie, 2-Movie to MPG-4, movie to Quicktime Movie. And all resulted in a MPEG Layer-3???
    Not sure what's happening.
Now the other thing, when I use Movie to MPEG-4, the extension changes to .mp4, but the movie that is working properly on my webpage that is an MPEG-4, does have ".mov" extension!
    What should I do ?
    Michel

    Colin,
it makes sense that it is compressed with an mp3 song attached to it. iPhoto4 export slideshow to QT in a manner that you described. Uou can see that all photos are exported one after the next, and at the end you can see the iP, is adding the audio, which is the Mp3 songs. This allow the file to remains small. I look at the FPS and Movie FPS is .57, Playing FPS is .67, instead of the 30FPS.
When you export from a created slideshow in iP5 or 6, the QT file becomes much bigger, because I think it creates 30fps for every picture (essentially 60 frames for one pic displayed for 2 seconds) because of the Ken Burns effect that requires this.
If I understand it right, iP4, exports the first pic as one frame, and if it is displayed for 2,3, 4 or 6 sec, it repeats the 1st (original) frame 59 or so times, essentially not having to copy the same frame more than once, otherwise it would make the file way too big. This compression used by QT from ip4, keeps the file size fairly small. In fact the biggest items in the QT file, is the song. i.e., when I export the slide show with no songs, the resulting QT file can be, say, 500KB. If I export the same slide show with a songs, the File increases by the same size of the MP3 songs size Say 4MB. Assuming that the songs palys in its entirety.
    Do I understand this right?
Anyway, I tried exporting with Movie to Hinted Movie (pull down menu) and it remains in a MPEG LAyer-3???
Back to my original question? I'm trying to create a .mov, hinted, but that list (command +I) while playing
    MPEG-4 Audio, Mono 44100HZ
    MPEG-4 Video, 320X240, Millions
    Movie FPS :30
When I export the pull down menu contains a multitudes of choices:
    Movie to 3G
    Movie to AVI
    Movie to BMP
    Movie to DivX AVI
    Movie to FLC
Movie to to Hinted movie (I tried this one)
    Movie to image sequence
Movie to MPEG-4 ( I also tried this one)
    Movie to picture
    Movie to Quicktime Media link
    Movie to Quicktime Movie
    Movie to Toast Video CD
    Sound to Aiff
    Sound toSystem 7 sound
    Sound to Wave
    Sound to uLAw

  • Import problems FCP7 with MPEG-2 Video, MPEG Layer 2

    Good afternoon everyone...
I have a file that is an MPEG-2 Video, MPEG Layer 2 with a .mpg Extenshion and I am having problems importing it into
FCP 7.  I have tried MPEGStreamClip, Compressor and a low end product called Total Video Converter.  In FCP 7 I tried media manager and Log and transfer, but FCP did not even recognize it.
THE PROBLEM IS that when ever I convert the video it has a lot of video noise.
When I convert the video, I use proven the following presets DVDPro/DV, DVCPro720, XDCamEX 720. (I have
    not tried Pro Res yet)
Does anyone have expeirence with these kinds of Mpeg2 Transport or Mpeg2 Program streams?  Are there any QT plug ins?
    -M

    Michael...
Mpeg Streamclip is my go to program...
In MpegStreamclip the video does not show up, just a white box so I moved to Apple Compressor and Total Video Converter. Apple Comp and Total Video Converter could play and convert the clip.
(Do I need a plug in for Streamclip?)
Below you will find the stream info:
    Duration: 0:23:41
    Data Size: 1.04 GB
    Bit Rate: 6.26 Mbps
    Video Tracks:
    224 MPEG-2, 720 × 480, 16:9, 29.97 fps, 6.00 Mbps, 4:2:2(!), lower field first
    Audio Tracks:
    192 MP2 stereo, 48 kHz, 224 kbps
This appears to be a fairly robust formated file.
Let me Know if you need anything else to help.

  • When importing MPEG files into Premiere Pro CS3 the audio sequence is missing.

We have two computers running Premiere Pro CS3.  Our computer most recently installed with PPCS3 will only import an audio sequence with the MPEG video file when I extract the file directly from the DVD.  When I take the video folder from the DVD and drag to my Desktop, importing to PP from the desktop, it will only import the video sequence; audio does not appear.  What would cause this happen and how can I fix this?  It's too time consuming to continuously use my DVD Extractor.

1st, that old program has a different forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere/premierepro_previous
2nd, To work with AC3 sound files in Premiere CS3, copy the ad2ac3dec.dll file from the Encore CS3 directory into the Premiere directory

  • Importing MPEG-4 audio files into itunes

    Hi,
I am a new user of iTunes. I am unable to import MPEG-4 audio files from an audio CD into my iTunes library. This audio CD was created by a friend on his MAC.
Interestingly, I am able to play the same MPEG-4 files through my Windows Media Player. I have the most recent and updated versions of Quicktime (7.4.5) and the most updated iTunes player for Windows (7.6.2.9). Coincidentally, the same audio CD has some MP3 files which I am able to import into iTunes with no problem.
    Would greatly appreciate any help.
    Thanks

Incidentally, I am able to play these same MPEG-4 files through my QuickTime player just fine.
    Thanks.

  • MPEG-1 Layer 2 audio support

This is not a Mac specific question, but a general QuickTime post. One of my clients has something like 100.000 hours of MPEG-1 Layer 2 audio programs (.mpa) that he wants to put on-line. Unfortunately, this format seems to be incompatible with HTTP delivery on QuickTime. If you try to connect to such a file's URL from QuickTime player, the player loads the file until its end (no progressive download) and then considers that it is made of a text track : QT Player displays a superb text track made of the binary data of the audio file! You can test it at the following address: http://www2.opsomai.com/TestRadioIna/KB0531501D.mpa
On the other hand, if you open the file locally with QT Player, it works almost fine. The only problem is the time it takes: it seems that QuickTime needs some time to scan the whole file before starting to play it. It takes around 7 seconds for a 1 hour file. If you save the file with QT Player then, allowing dependancies, you get a 1,5 KB QT movie (vs. the original 110 MB MPEG file) that plays immediately.
So, I plan to develop a small QT tool based on QT APIs in order to make these audio files compatible with HTTP progressive download:
    1. When a file is required by a user, this software tool will open the audio file with QT on the server
    2. The audio file will be then saved on the server, allowing dependancies, but the link to the original file will be modified: instead of the local path (e.g. /Volumes/Media/CollectionName/FileName.mpa) the tool will save its URL (e.g. www.collection.com/media/FileName.mpa). I hope that QT APIs will let us do that, and that the resulting reference movie will be compatible with QT progressive download mode.
Taking for granted that this method works, which I don't know at this time, it has a major drawback: my tool will take around 7 seconds to open the original file, so it will roughly take 8 seconds before the user can start to download the audio file. It can seem reasonably short, but we really don't need that delay, because most of the time we need also to trim the file before this operation, which may take 5 seconds or so, using mpgtx, an open source software.
I wonder if I could use a different method in order to make these file downloadable with QT. Something like what QTFaststart can do with MPEG-4 file (in one second or so, it can modify a MPEG-4 file header in order to make it compatible with QT progressive download). Such a opensource software would be very useful. I could even merge it with mpgtx, so I can cut my excerpt and make it downloadable at the same time.
    Any idea would be welcome!
    David

If your goal is to simply create a "fast start" file, why not simply put the audio in an MOV file container and unconditionally set the file property to open automatically once it is recognized as valid MPEG-1 data. Try this URL: http://homepage.mac.com/jrwalker4/.Public/KB0531501D.mov

  • No audio when importing MPEG-2 files

I am importing MPEG-2 files from a Sony SR40 HDD camera. The video imports fine, but there is no audio track. I am connecting with a USB cable. Any ideas?

the mpeg2 files mux (mix) the audio & video together in one stream.
To work with the files in FCP, you must demux them. The application MPEG Streamclip can do this for you. Google it, it's free.
