Imported photo location changed -- How to change in iPhoto?

I originally imported photos from the Server: "smb://the-server/..." and it has been changed to "smb://media-server/...". How do I change this in iPhoto so that it knows where to source the photo?
Thanks,
Matt

Matt
You're running a Referenced Library, right? Where the files are stored on this volume and the Library is on your Mac?
If so: then when you imported the files iPhoto created an alias to them within the iPhoto Package that points to the actual location of the files.
These aliases will survive the path changing on the same volume. They won't if they point to a different volume.
So
1. Change the path to the files back to exactly what it was
or
2. Use an app like [FileBuddy|http://www.skytag.com> to resolve the aliases for you. Note that this has worked for some folks and not for others.
or
3. Start resolving each alias for each photo one by one.
This is the main reason why I do not recommend using IPhoto in Referenced Mode.

  • As of a few days ago, I can no longer import photos from my Nikon Coolpix s7c into iPhoto. Never before had a problem. (it is the version prior to iPhoto 11--all Apple software is UTD)

As of a few days ago, I can no longer import photos from my Nikon Coolpix s7c into iPhoto '08. Never before had a problem.  I sent a request to Nikon for help and they referred me back to Apple.  Help, if possible, please.

As the photos imported to the test library you know that it works with your version of iPhoto (so, you can skip the paranoia about Apple making you upgrade). The issue then is the Library, so
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Most times when I import photos from my desktop or dropbox to iPhoto, iPhoto will keep the title I created for the image as the display title under the image. but occasionally it displays the filename instead and I have to go back through and reenter

most times when I import photos from my desktop or dropbox to iPhoto, iPhoto will keep the title I created for the image as the display title under the image. but occasionally it displays the filename instead and I have to go back through and reenter the title in iPhoto. why the inconsistency? running OS 10.9.5 and using iPhoto 9.5.1

Try this:  select one of the photos that are showing the wrong title and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Title to File Name menu option.
See if that will put the name that you want under the thumbnail.

  • When importing photos from computer, all colors change to garish saturated

I just imported some photos(jpgs) from my Windows XP/hard drive into Lightroom for the first time. All the colors changed to really garish, bright, highly saturated, in all views, on all photos. Faces are bright red, ground is bright orange, red clothing is blinding.
This has happened one other time: when I make PDFs from Acrobat Professional. The colors turn all highly saturated and unnatural. Does anyone know why this is or how to help? I have 10,000 photos and they look fine in Photoshop, my Canon Zoombrowser, Windows viewers, everywhere else.
    Thanks.

    >Then I opened all 4 (including raw file) and the Raw, Adobe, and prophoto were identical, the remaining srgb pic was alot redder, like I had a red filter almost, just really warm
In a color managed app, the three exports in prophotoRGB, adobeRGB and sRGB should look almost identical safe for some minor shifts if you have a wide gamut display or a display with a primary very different from sRGB (certain laptop displays). If they look different, and you are using a color managed app, chances are your monitor calibration is no good. Apps that are color managed are Photoshop, Safari, Apple's preview, Lightroom, recent versions of irfanview (older were not managed). Apps that are not color managed and will give you the wrong color on any display are Windows picture viewer pre vista, (internet) explorer, Google Picasa, etc. Let me assure you that Lightroom correctly exports to sRGB. They did not get this wrong.
Conclusion: On a calibrated normal gamut display sRGB exports WILL look identical to Lightroom when you are using color managed apps to view your export. In non-managed apps, the colors will be close but there will be only minor color shifts that are usually only visible to critical viewers. On wide gamut displays in color managed apps there might be small differences in saturation i certain limited cases (flowers and such).

  • HP Photo Printing Software - How to change predefined sizes in "Design To Page size:" window?

I have a HP Photosmart printer, which came with a photo print application, "HP Photo Printing Software", Version 3.9.0.0.  When I try to change the page size of the photo output using the "Design to Page Size:" screen, I see a list of predefined page sizes (e.g., "4x6 w/tab").  However, these predefined sizes (there are 11) can't be changed from within the program.  For example, if I want to print a 4x6 photo with no border, which is a frequent requirement, there seems to be no way to do it.
How do I change or override these predefined print sizes in this program?  BTW - I have Windows XP on my PC.

    Hi Alex.
You may want to try HP's new photo-printing program, HP Photo Creations. It's a free download at www.hp.com/go/hppc.
To print photos at a predefined size, select the Print-at-Home tab (2), then Prints & Posters (3), then the Prints project (4). Then design your print and select your desired size on the printing screen (7).
    Hope this helps,

  • How do I change images in a Business Catalyst template? I have uploaded these images and can't seem to find where the stock images are located and how to change them out.

I want to customize this template by swapping the stock images that are already in place. I have been able to upload my new images to the file that the others are stored, but I cannot find a way to implement the changes. HELP

Er, not according to the header at the top of this thread:
No mention of Windows there. And I saw no connection link for iCloud on my Mac. If there is such a thing, I missed it. In which case please accept my apologies.

  • Bridge doesn't remember my import photos location

Everytime I install photos into Bridge from my cardreader, I have to insert the location folder of where they are to be saved to which is on my D drive. The next time that I install images from my card reader, it points to the default folder on my C drive and I have to locate the D drive folder again that I want my imagas to go to.
The popup that I'm getting to do all of this comes from when I attach my cardreader to the computer and a popup comes up and asks me if I want to intall or open in one of serveral places. I choose Adobe bridge and that's when the Get photo box comes up to where I need to give it a location to be saved.
    Please help

I unchecked the auto load Bridge at startup, then imported an image to
bridge from my card and told it where to save to. I deleted that image once
imported into Bridge. Then imported again from the card and the default
location is still the C drive instead of where I had directed it to the D
drive previously. So still didn't work.

  • CUP/CUCM IP Address change - how to change the configuration of Jabber/CUPC in batch

I have an implementation of CUCM / CUP with endpoints Cisco Jabber and CUPC.
The CUCM/CUP IP address will change.
Is there a way to change the configuration of Cisco Jabber / CUPC on all devices?
    Regards,
    Ronaldo

    CUPC:
There is a registry setting that you can specify.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cisco Systems, Inc.\Client Services Framework\AdminData\CUPServer
    CUPS
You will also need to make changes to the CUPS config for the TFTP, CTI gateway and CCMCIP settings.
    Application -> Cisco Jabber/CUPC -> Setttings.
You'll also need to change the truck settings to CUCM if you have this configured.
    Jabber:
Not 100% sure on Jabber. Maybe someone else can comment on that.
    Thanks,
    - Colin

  • Importing photos from classic iPod or iPhone into iPhoto

My students are bringing in photos stored on their classic iPods or iPhones to import into iPhoto for use in their multimedia projects using either iMovie or iDVD. Some iPods and iPhones are not being recognized (no icon on the desktop) by the iMac when the USB cords are connected. The screen flashes "Do Not Disconnect" on the iPod or an error box appears saying something about only being able to sync to one library. I tried my daughters iPod and when I did the sync the photos were removed from her iPod. How can I get these great images into my students iMovie or iDVD projects without wiping out the photos from their iPod. Please help Thanks!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There are some 3rd party applications for copying photos from an iPod to a Mac. See this search result at VersionTracker.com.
Also ask in the iPod and iPhone forums. I think you'll get more users there who have addressed that issue there.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Import photos from adobe photoshop elements (win) to Iphoto 08

    Hi,
I just got an imac and I want to import my old photos and adobe photoshop element tags from my windows machine. I want to keep the tags the same. Does any one have any suggestions?
    -D

Yes, use File>Write tags and properties to file and Elements should pick up the metadata keywords this creates. However, if you have raw files or tiffs from an epson scanner, the metadata creation can be unreliable.

  • Importing photos from iMail (v 4.5) into iPhoto '11

It says in the help section of iPhoto 11, "To import a photo from Mail"  ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is select the e-mail message and click on Save and select to iPhoto.  My problem is when I click on the save icon, iPhoto ISN'T an option.  My mail program is version 4.5.  Any ideas??

Terence,  You're correct!  The reason I wasn't getting the prompt to "save to iPhoto" was it was a video NOT a picture.  I tried a different e-mail that had a picture and sure enough the "save to iPhoto" prompt was there.  Thx!

  • Can i import photos from my wifi enabled camera to iphoto over wifi?

I am looking to buy a new digital camera and want to get want with wifi if I can upload the photos to iPhoto without cables.

Hi there. For anyone searching, here are the results of my research and corresponding advice back to Sony...
Thanks, your comments looked correct but did not solve my problem. You may be interested to know after much testing and research, I was able to ascertain that some of the camera's AVCHD settings iMovie cannot see at all (only some, which made it even harder to figure out!). Plus, if you have recorded movie clips in more than one format to the memory card (MP4 or any one of the AVCHD's), iMovie cannot see any of the AVCHD's.
Bottom line - forgo the benefits of AVCHD on the Sony NEX-5N and just use MP4 until Apple makes it easier.
