Imported Photos Go All White! A Bug Or Is It Quartz/Core Issue?
Imported Photos Go All White! A Bug Or Is It Quartz/Core Issue? Tried jpg and png and .........
I had that same problem with my laptop. Went to apple and they could not fix it. Had another issue and they told me to copy my iphoto library to the desktop. When I did that the white pictures were then visible on the desktop library. They said I had too much stuff on my computer. When I upgraded to I life 06 most of the pictures came back.

LR 5.6 has been giving me fits for months now (Server Busy error) and have put up with it. Now, I can't import any files, at all, in either one (updated to 5.7 and still have 4.4 running as backup). When I hit "Import" LR freezes and I get the spinning icon. If I click the window, it completely freezes and I have to manually end the process. Any thoughts? Running Windows 7 64 on a machine with lots of processing power.
Thank you for your help so far.
1. No, I have separate folders and catalogs for each wedding/session.
2. I have tried it to no avail.
I have made some progress though. I have created a new user profile and was able to get my latest session imported under that user. So something may be screwed up under my main user. Ugh. -
SX10 IS zoom photos are all white (severe over exposure?)
Hi, I've notice that when I take outdoor pictures, mostly in "Auto" mode, using a fair amount of zoom that the image take is mostly white. This consistently occurs and is not a one-time event. I'm assuming that the images are severely over exposed. The environment is typically mid-day sunlight. Taking a picture of the same composition at much lower magnification gives expected results. I've been through the manual looking for different things to adjust without success. I've reset all settings to their defaults and the problem persists. I've tried different modes with similar results. I've had this camera for a few years now and I haven't experienced this problem before. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
JakeInTexas,
When shooting outdoors in sunlight, the camera could be metering the exposure improperly because of the sunlight entering the lens at certain angles. A good way to counter this is by attaching the lens hood that came with the camera.
If this does not help, I would like to take a look at a sample image if you could upload one to this thread. It will greatly help us determine what else may be causing this.
If this is a time sensitive-matter, additional support options are available at Contact Us.

Not importing photos at all...
I feel silly. I just bought LR 5 and upgraded to 5.3 on my Macbook. I hit ithe import button and select a folder on my hardrive with photos on it and then a circle on the bottom of the screen just spins and no images appear in the middle box for me to select.
What do I do?Hi Geoff,
I am the same person with the question about my processor being up to speed with Lightroom 5. I posted what I hoped were the answers you needed 2G RAM and 500G of storage.
I thought that the size of the files might be the issue so I created a folder with a single image and I double clicked on the folder and the circle spinned and there was not image in the section where you choose images to add.
I checked on the return policy and only products that haven't been registered can be returned. Dratz, I had every intention on keeping it until now when I can't even complete the most basic function.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Import photos from Photoshop Elements
This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WS217DEA0F-2A78-4445-89CB-4CED1AFA450E.html
You don't import photos at all. No importing!!
Like the help documentation says, in Lightroom you choose File->Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog
If you want to use LR3, then use LR3. If you want to use LR4, then use LR4 and skip LR3.
Lightroom 5 is not out yet, so you can't use LR5. When it is out, you could upgrade your PSE catalog directly to LR5. -
when trying to import photos in to lightroom i select the ones i want and then click import it shows the progress bar on top and says its importing but it will never finish. it will just keep kelling me its importing photos.
Try all of these steps in sequence
Quit Lightroom
Reboot your computer
Delete your preference file: Preference and other file locations in Lightroom 5
Restart Lightroom -
Lightroom not importing photos. Gray box appears.
I was tethering to Lightroom and suddenly the program failed to import photos. All that would come up was a gray box. I tired everything. I re-started the program, my computer, my camera. 2 days later, and I still cannot get an image to show up in Lightroom. Any advice?
Thanks Keith,
I talked to a support person, and it turns out that my cache was the problem. He re-named it and I am back in business. Thank you for your help! -
Import photos from iphone to iphoto
I've been able to easily import photos from my iphone to iphoto by connecting my phone to the computer via USB cable. However, it does not seem to be working. I have the older version of iphoto (I believe it's version 9), and when I connect my phone it is not automatically asking if I want to import. I've checked my preferences in iphoto, and have it set to open when a mobile device is connected. When reading other posts similar to this issue it seems that there is a "device" section over to the left, which I do not have in my iphoto. I know the USB cable is working because I can see my phone is connected to my itunes on my computer. I would like to take my photos off my phone to free up some space. Thanks!
Hello bbb34vball,
Since that article didn't help, I would suggest trying the steps in this article next:

If that doesn't resolve your issue, you may find more information by using another one of Apple's support resources - https://getsupport.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action.

What does "Easily import photos from other applications" really mean?
What does "Easily import photos from other applications" really mean in the Lightroom 4 features list? I also see it stated as "...from other software" as well. Yes, I understand the LR can import from Elements libraries but can't find any reference to other applications anywhere, not in the online help, not in the user guide, not in any videos on Adobe TV. It would be nice if LR could see into iPhoto or Aperture libraries but that doesn't appear to be the case. Is that assumption correct? What other applications can LR import from?

help, I imported photos into my ipod , but it's shown as white color...
not as the orginial photos at all,
and it's really imported into my ipod,
and it's jpg format....help help.......Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have deleted my file "last imported photos" thinking that the photos were kept in the album, but now all my photos are gone; How can I recover the deleted photos?
MIf you have emmptied the iPhoto trash then you're going to need a file recovery application like File Salvage
-
When I import photos taken from my Ipod Touch 4 to My Mac Desktop, I click delete photos on ipod, but they do not delete. Is the only way to delete them individually (I have 1,400 photos!) or is there a way to delete them all in one go?
I realise you can you can delete them on your ipod slowly as you have to click on each one, and you can restore your ipod, but surely there is a way to get around this?
Software: 4.3.2

Thanks If anyone can help me.Download/install an app is a know possible solution.
3. Install another app from the App Store
If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information.

How do I get back photos from my last import - they've all disappeared
I imported photos from an SD card into my iphoto library on an external Lacie hard drive. I know this was initially successful because afterwards I showed them to my wife on a slide show. I then turned the computer off. Later when I switched on to look at them again all the photos (only from the latest import) had disappeared! I can't find them anywhere and I can't see how I could have accidentally deleted them. I have tried rebuilding the library, but they are still not there. I Cant find them anywhere on the Lacie drive nor on the internal hard drive. However, I should mention that the total size of all my folders on my 60gb internal drive is 46.5 gb, yet only 1.9 gb is available, which is puzzling in itself - However, as I imported the photos onto the library on the external lacie drive I don't see how this is an issue. (By the way I have checked the iphoto library in my home folder and it remains empty, as it should be). Any ideas before I give them up for lost forever?
Simon
You’re going to have a very big problem and very soon. These missing pics are the beginning of trouble.
the total size of all my folders on my 60gb internal drive is 46.5 gb, yet only 1.9 gb is available,
OS X needs about 10 gigs of free space on the hard drive for normal OS operations such as virtual memory and temporary files. Without this space the machine slows down as the OS hunts for free space, files become fragmented and applications begin to crash. The risk of data corruption increases exponentially.
You must, as a matter of urgency, make space on the drive. I cannot stress this enough.
You may be able to recover the pics from your camera card using an app such as MediaRecover

As of a few days ago, I can no longer import photos from my Nikon Coolpix s7c into iPhoto '08. Never before had a problem. I sent a request to Nikon for help and they referred me back to Apple. Help, if possible, please.
As the photos imported to the test library you know that it works with your version of iPhoto (so, you can skip the paranoia about Apple making you upgrade). The issue then is the Library, so
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
