Imported Photos Turning Green!

Weird - Aperture and iPhoto tinting my pics GREEN!
I am importing photos from my Canon D60 CF card via a Lexar FireWire card reader - which I have done many, many times - and after they are in a new Aperture project, they are being tinted green - I mean, heavily green, not just a green tinge. Prior to the actual import they look normal.
I tried iPhoto, same thing. Meanwhile, if I drag them from the CF card to the desktop, the thumbnails in Cover Flow look normal.
If I Choose "Edit with Photoshop (CS3)" they are green so it is not just the thumbnails. However, if I open them directly from the desktop with Photoshop, they are OK.
The hundreds of previous pics I have in Aperture are OK - except one other project., When I select that project and click on a pic in the browser, the version that shows up in the viewer is... you guessed it, GREEN. The browser one in that case remains OK - just the viewer version is tinted. But choosing "Edit with Photoshop" for either the browser or viewer version opens a green one.
Has anyone had this experience with the latest updates, etc? Any ideas?
Thanks,
Terry

Terry,
A few Sony users have noticed a similar issue (magenta not green) with RAW files after updating to RAW Update 2.2 a week or so ago.
If this sound like something that applies to your situation, then click on the following link and scroll down to an entry by "Clem" on Sept 17th at 9:56 AM for a "downgrade" back to RAW Update 2.1:

  • IPhoto 08 - my photos turn green

After importing and editing some photos, they turn green. Just about any editing will do it, ie: cropping, adjusting, etc. It doesn't always do it.
I can revert to the RAW original, but I've lost all the changes and even if I try again, they are still green.
They look like the original in the thumbnail, but when I open a pic, it turns green. It actually expands in the original, but quickly turns faded and green as if an opaque green film has been placed over it.
If I mess with it too much, I lose the picture and get an exclamation mark where it used to be.
I am using iPhoto '08 with a Nikon D40X. I have the image set as RAW (which gives me a .NEF suffix)
    Any ideas?

I have no idea what's happening to your iPhoto.
    The result was 189 events
So, is this more or less than you had before? How are we supposed to know?
    ... with unrelated photos
    unrelated to what?
The photos were dated, but not always from that date.
So, the photos were dated incorrectly? Or they were dated correctly but in the wrong Events?
No library except the original library.
If you used the Rebuild command in iPhoto Library Manager then there are two libraries. Or do you mean in the iPhoto Window? If so, under Library there are two headings: Events and Photos. Are you saying they are not there?

  • Imported photos turn black

Using iMovie HD v6.0.4 and some, not all, imported photos, jpg, from files or from iPhoto transfer in iMovie and then are converted to all black image. Movies from the camera are imported fine. Any help is welcomed.

The forum list is hidden but I found it thank you. It seems that the "turn to black" is a defect in iM 6 that can be worked around. I just experimented with importing other photos and they were OK, back to the trenches.

  • Some photos pulled from iPhoto turn green when placing them in a project. Is there any way to fix this?

I am using a Macbook Pro with 2GHz Intel Core i7 processor; 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory and OS 10.9.4. I have iPhoto 9.5.1 and iMovie 10.0.4. I have a project with video, and have added some still photos from my iPhoto Library. All of the photos appear fine until I add them to a project. Then some of them turn to a solid green. If I create a mp4 from this project, the offending photos remain green.
I have checked the offenders in iPhoto to see if there is a common denominator. There is no common camera and no common editing. I did make a previous attempt to place some of the photos into an iMovie project and some of them were dropped into the wrong place--like into a title. But didn't notice any glitches at that time, only afterwards and I'm not sure if any of the problem photos were a part of that incident.
I have absolutely no problem with iPhoto. Is there a library file that can be deleted to force iMovie to rebuild its connection to iPhoto.

Only to load your backup from before downloading the MM photos

    Hi-
My iPhoto will not quit/close as it keeps saying that it's "importing" photos however, there isn't anything connected to the laptop that it would be importing photos from. How can I "force" the program to shut down? Due to it not closing, it wont permit me to turn the computer off.

  • Importing AVI files turn green

    Hello out there,
I recently downloaded 4 AVI files. They played fine on my Qtime player. I then tried to import them to iMovie and when I did, two of the files turned green in the clip holder and the contents of the file were lost (from 349 MB to 21.6MB). I tried to play them and there was nothing there. I even tried to play them in Qtime and they turned green in there as well.It plays fine in VLC however and the "get info" reads the original 349 MB. I need to import these two files into iMovie. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

iMovie can "convert to DV" nearly any file QuickTime can play at import.
I haven't tried it as I rarely use the software. I make my Web based files from start to finish in QuickTime Pro.

  • Imported .mov files turn green and do not play

I imported some video files using the Camera Connector Kit from my Nikon V1 to my iPad 3rd Gen, which are .mov, and they turn green and do not play the actual video footage; however, the sound does play. I've searched the Discussions and have found nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

I have exactly the same issue. Did you find any solution?

  • Stop the zooming?  Imported photos in iMovie.

Up until recently I haven't dealt with still images in iMovie, but in this case I am opening the movie with a photo that I brought into Photoshop and retouched to look painted. I want to transition from the "painted" image to the actual image as an opening sequence. Only problem is that imported photos do a 5 second "zooming effect" and I don't want this. I want the stills to remain static on screen. I've looked through iMovie and I can't find a control for this anywhere. How can I keep the images static and not "zoom?"

Sue is right. Here's the step by step:
Select the photo you want to remove the "Ken Burns" zooming effect from. There should be a crop tool shaped a bit like a square towards the upper left corner of your selected picture, click on that. You'll see your picture enlarged on the right with a red and green square in it. At the top of the picture, select "Fit" instead of "Ken Burns" and this will turn off the zooming. Then click the "Done" button in the top right corner.

  • Images turn green in LR2

Several months ago one of the images in a folder turned green when I selected it. I always import files as digital negatives and then create a virtual copy to develop. In this case both the copy and original turned green. Going to the develop mode I saw that the white balance sliders had both moved to the extreme left, but all other settings were unchanged. Resetting did nothing so I manually adjusted the white balance to, what I thought was the "as shot" position, hoping this was a one off event.
All was fine until a few days ago when, as I expanded each dng/copy stack the dng file turned green. The techies at Adobe have been very helpful but unable to find a solution yet. The latest attempt has involved checking the develop history of images in case a preset was accidentally applied to all images, but this has proved unsuccessful. It's possible that, if this was the case, the offending image has been deleted along with its history which cannot then be reversed.
I've also tried uninstalling and then reinstalling L2 and opening it with an earlier uncorrupted file but the images still turn green. Suspecting a virus, I contacted support for my AVG anti-virus product, but they were unaware of any viruses which exclusively target image files and considered that scenario unlikely.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, and been able to rectify it? Three years of photos involved so any suggestions would be well received!

If resetting the image doesn't put white balance back to default As Shot it would suggest that you have somehow saved a new Camera Default. You can do this on a camera model, serial number or even specific ISO value, so it might only apply to a small number of images. Anyway, to check that this isn't the case you should select one of the affected images, switch to Develop module then choose Set Default Settings from Develop menu. You'll want to choose the Restore Adobe Default Settings button. Finally, select all of the affected images and hit the reset button. Remember, to expand all stacks before resetting or only the top image will be reset.

  • Importing photos from Kodak EasyShare camera

I am attempting to import photos from my Kodak EasyShare CX7300 camera into iPhoto. I have uploaded photos from this camera onto the computer before, but for some reason, I am no longer able to do so. I have checked the cord connections of both the USB port and the camera, and both are fine. When I plug the camera into the computer and turn the camera on, the green light on the camera flashes and iPhoto opens, but the import process does not begin. I have been unable to find a way through which I can manually import the photos into iPhoto. I cannot install the EasyShare software that came with the camera because of restrictions placed on the computer by my school. Any suggestions, other than a new camera or a better computer? :-D Like I said, I've imported photos from the same camera to the same computer... why isn't it working now?????

    Jamie:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. A workaround until the reason for the problem is found is to use Image Capture to manually upload from your camera. It came with the Mac and is located in your Applications folder.
Have there been any software updates run just before this started occurring? What version of iPhoto are you running?
As a first step run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions.

  • Imported Photo Quality Issue

    Greetings,
I am taking my first stab at putting a project together.
I have imported several jpegs.  When I play the project in "Full Screen" to see how things look, some of the photos are sharp whiles others have what I would call jagged or rough looking edges in the photo.
My question?  How do I eliminate the "rough" edges?  Is this a resolution issue?  File size issue?
I am confused because I have two different jpegs of the same resolution and size, but one comes out fine in the presentation and the other is jagged or rough looking.
I  tried looking in "Help", but had no luck.  Is there a section that covers this?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    John

First, don't play your video at full screen.
Video is 720x480 pixels in size. Your computer screen is several times that resolution, so pretty much everything you play at full-screen is going to look over-rezzed and fuzzy.
Then, make sure you resize any photo you're going to use in a Premiere Elements project to 1000x750 pixels. Otherwise, when you try to render it, it will take forever and more than likely choke halfway through.
Then finally, whenever you see a red line above the clips on your timeline, press Enter to render your timeline. Unrendered video looks rough and poor quality. When you render your video timeline the red lines will turn green and your video will look more like a finished product.
Much more of these kinds of hints in my books, available on Amazon.com and at Premiere Elements support site Muvipix.com, if you're interested.

  • Why can't I import photos saved onto my iphone hard drive onto my computer to delete them off my phone?

Every time I try to import photos onto iphoto I am only allowed to import photos I have taken on my iphone 5s, but not from my previous phone. I cannot upgrade my phone because I have so many photos on it. I want to delete the photos that were transferred onto my iphone from my previous phone, but I can't find them using my laptop.

I am struggling with similar difficulties.
I use an iMac G5 (Power PC) and a Canon PowerShot G6, which have been compatible with each other for 14 months. A couple of weeks ago, the Canon's rechargable battery ran low and, instead of connecting the camera to the iMac via the USB cable, I removed the SanDisk CompactFlash Ultra II card and imported photos on it via a SanDisk upload USB device. [The G6 manual recommends connecting the camera only when the battery is fully charged.] After the battery recharged, I took more photos and tried to upload them via the original Canon-supplied USB cable, but iPhoto did not launch. Because the camera turns on and indicates it's connected , I know it's not the USB cable [I actually ordered a new one, but the results are the same]. I've tried reformatting the SanDisk card in the camera, but this hasn't corrected the problem. However, if I connect the SanDisk device with card to the USB hub, iPhoto launches, identifying the device as "CANON_DC", complete with the little "eject" icon.
What am I forgetting? What would be the next step? Reinstalling the Canon software?

  • IPhone no longer shows in iPhoto to import photos after 9.2 and iOS 5 updates

For some reason my iPhone 4S doesn't show in iPhoto to import photos.  Oddly, iPhoto will launch when I plug into sync, but the phone does not show.  Also, the phone doesn't show in the Image Capture application.

Same problem but I noticed that plugging my iphone or ipad in will launch iphoto and the device will show up on the left and new photos from the device will display.  However, the devices don't show up on the left if iphoto is already running when when I plug them in.  It's an easy workaround to turn iphoto off before plugging the device in but it's not the way it was before upgrading to IOS5 and 9.2.
