Imported phots sequential numbered but not in time order?

I import my photos and I will name them say ball, and I have Elements set to number them starting with 1, so I get ball1, ball2 etc, but problem is that these files are imported but are not in order of time I would like the first photo taken to be ball1 and the last ball99. But when I go into Windows Explorer and I see that the photos are not in order say that ball5 might be first then ball9 next etc. How can I have Elements import photos and keep them in order of time taken.

It's not possible to change the sort order.

First thing to do is to change the default camera profile applied in Lightroom to camera standard (assuming that you shoot Canon or Nikon). Also make sure that your camera is NOT set up to use any of the HDR modes. Nikon calls those Active Dynamic Lighting. On Canons you often see things like highlight priority mode or "Auto Lighting Optimizer". Make sure that the picture style is set to standard and that for newer Canons the HDR mode is turned off. Most of the HDR modes simply underexpose the image and then add an instruction in the raw file to compensate for this to prevent highlights from being blown out. This causes more noise in the shadows and if you know what you are doing there is no point to this as you should simply expose correctly and get the highest quality raw.
Lastly, make sure that in Lightroom you have not checked "Apply Auto Tone Adjustments" in Preferences->Presets. This should make the default rendering of the raw files the same as the in-camera jpeg (what the camera shows on the back even if you shoot raw) but still give you all the latitude of raw files.

My Contact from ICloud imports only the name but not every thing else if I want to import it to Contact on my Mac. But that only happens with my own card.
Before, my V-Card in Contacts on my Mac was ok, but now it disappeared. When I try to import it from ICloud only my name appears.

The backup of your iPod Touch would include your camera roll photos. Restoring the backup to another iPod Touch or iPhone would recover them. Photos will not be restored by restoring the backup to an iPad.
Note: Apple deletes iCloud backups after 180 days of inactivity so be sure to do this before then.

Regex to match numbers but not characters

I brain must not be working right or something but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get a regex to match numbers, but not characters.
e.g.
123456
would match, but
123abc
would not. Essentially what I want to do is take a string and only return a match when the string has numbers but no characters.

However the suggestion above was referring to a regular expression, not a method.
And the above regular expression does match with the following methods

The correct regular expression to match only digits is....

We would like to edit our company's GAL to show only the phone numbers for some staff and not their exchange email accounts. Is there a way to do this through Active Directory?

Another problem is my anti virus ( most up to date) is apparently not compatible with 4.0 liked the old firefox would never have "upgraded" had I known my anti virus wouldn't work. Can I get old version back

Check with Kaspersky as to what versions of Firefox their programs are compatible with. It is up to Kaspersky to keep their stuff up to date as Mozilla releases new versions of Firefox. And if they are unwilling or incapable of doing it, they should inform their customers of such and maybe refund their customers instead of stringing them along.

IPhoto 08 imported for one user but not another

We have iPhoto '08 ver 7.1.5 and it worked fine with my login. I could import photos from our Canon PowerShot SD960 into my iPhoto library. But when my wife logged in and tried to import the same photos she got a message stating "Unreadable Files" and "the following file could not be imported".
On her login using Image Capture, she could import the pictures off the camera and save them to her Desktop then she could view and also save them using Preview and could also import them to her iPhoto library from the Desktop folder she had saved them into.
I reformatted the camera's card and I also used iPhoto Library Manager and rebuilt her Library.
We can now both import pictures fine but I'm wondering for how long this will be the case.
Same exact situation existed with another camera we have - it worked for me but not for her.
Just curious to know what the cause might have been in case it's something we are doing that is causing the issue.

You can test your settings by clicking the big "Test My DNS" button at <https://www.dns-oarc.net/oarc/services/dnsentropy>. If you see "Poor" on any of the tests, don't use that domain name server! Remove it from Apple Menu => System Preferences =>Network =>DNS Servers or similar location in your router if you've got a 'home network'. If all you have is "poor" DNS servers in your list, call your ISP and insist that they give you the address of a name server which is protected against the recently exposed DNS cache-poisoning threat.
Also, open System Preferences/Network. Click the DNS tab. Add these numbers in the DNS Servers box.

Just figured it out! Here it goes:
Click on where you find the little AirPort sign (on iMac it is on top right hand side next to the date and time).
Go down to: Open Network Preferences
Click on: Advanced
Then on DNS
Then click on the + sign and put the following numbers: 8.8.8.8
click again on the + sign and put: 8.8.4.4
Worked for me! Hope it helps :-)

Airplay works for phots and video, but not music on 2nd gen touch

Upgraded to 4.2 on 2nd gen touch. I can send photos and videos/movies to AppleTV via Airplay, but not music. I can select AppleTV when playing a song on Touch and the music stops playing from Touch, but never plays from AppleTV. Audio works just fine for movies sent to AppleTV.
Anyone else experience this?
Support told me that this feature is not supported on 2nd gen Touch and I'd have to buy a new Touch. The Apple website says feature is supported. A second call to support and they said it is. ?????

Im having a similar problem where after a period of time I can get neither my iPhone 4 or iTouch 2G to see the Air Tunes speakers on my Airport Express base station. Always works fine from my computer's iTunes though. What I found works is powering off and rebooting the phone / iTouch (not just locking it). When it reboots go to your music and maybe you'll see the Apple TV or Airport Express icon appear now. Works for me anyways. After a while, they will "forget" and I need to reboot the phone again to find it. I think there are kinks in the 4.2 iOS that need to be sorted out.

Qry return same value for a particular column for each row but not all time

We recently migrated to Oracle Database 10.2.0.3.0 from 9i. We were using a sql to populate a table and it had been running fine. After migration the same sql is fetching / population incorrect values, but not everytime. If we run the same sql again it gives a correct result.
Ex:
insert into a1 ( col1, col2, col3 )
select a.field1, b.field2, c.field
from tab1 a, tab2 b, tab3 c
where a.field = b.field
and b.field (+) = c.field
something like this. Let us assume it fetches 200 rows
But sometimes the col1 has the same value for all the 200 rows and col2, col3 has correct values. If we run the same sql next time, the col1 fetches the correct value and everything is correct.
Could someone help on the above issue.

You can, you just need to make sure that your videos are in a Quicktime-compatible format (.m4v or .mp4 work best), then drag the files into your iTunes library. You can then find them in the Videos section and showing the information of the file will allow you to indicate that it is a music video (as opposed to a movie or TV show) and that will allow you to access the video in the music library.

I am working on this doument that has a pagination but it requires an id line where i have to put the number of page but not the actual pagination. I know it sounds weird but to make the picture clearer:
the header of the page is 469 to 524
but on the footer it should be 1 to 56.
is there anyway i can do this on the master page so i won't have to do this manually on the footer of each individual page?

Importing errors - photos moved but not cataloged

Hello all,
I'm having an issue with LR3 (Mac OSX 10.6.4) when importing photos from HDD into the catalog. Some of the photos imported (seemingly random) will error out with a code (8) "some files could not be moved".. or something to that effect. I used finder to validate that there are no other instances of that filename that could have been imported into the LR3 catalog.
When I open the dated folder (default LR3 save location) outside of lightroom, I see that the images were copied, however they do not appear in the catalog. If I attempt to re-import these photos from their new location (the location LR moved them to), this seems to work.
This happens about 40% of the time on import. It seems that tagging on import may be related, however I am tagging all photos in an import batch and only some are not making it into the database.
Is anyone else having a similar issue?

Tony, I too am having this problem. Importing and moving will move the files but then fails, a sync on the new folder will finish the load process.
Until LR3 I've only "played" with Lightroom but now I'm organizing years of image in various formats. As a result I've noticed the problem is specifically related to my RAW files. If I'm not importing raw files I can import/move 10 to 20 directories no problem. But if a RAW file is involved the only way to reduce the problem is to import one directory at a time. Note I said reduce, because the error still happens on occasion. If more than one directory is being moved the problem happens 100% of the time.

Sony EX1 files - import ok in CS4 but not CS3 - why?

I've hired a Sony EX1 for the weekend, and CS3 (version 3.2 with EX support) will not import the video files - it gives an error message and teh files are nowhere to be seen.
I have looked online in various places and the general consensus seems to be that if you import the entire folder and then, although you still get the "unsupported or damaged file" error message, the files should show up ok.
They don't. Not in CS3.
In CS4, the import works fine (although I still ghet the error message). The problem is, I find CS4 totally unstable, and unless massively successful patches are introduced, I will never work with it again (it cost me hundreds, maybe thousands of pounds n written-off editing time the only time I used it, because of constant crashes both on my laptop and my Dell system, and it still crashes regularly on the rare occasions I use it). I much prefer to work in CS3 which I found comparatively stable.
How come CS3 can't import the EX1 files, when everywhere I am look on the internet tells me it can?
Would be grateful to hear from anyone else who's had this problem .

Be sure you use the Sony XDCam EX Clip Browser software to import the footage, as opposed to drag & drop the folders/clips.
Theoretically, you should be able to just D&D the BPAV folder, but there have been reports of wierd problems doing it that way.
I've used the EX with CS3 a lot, with no problems, but I always import with the Sony software..
RE CS4- what OS and how much RAM do you have? 32 bit/3-4GB is touch & go for CS4 HD editing; 64 bit/ 12-16GB is magic.

I need to add text over a still photo in iMovie. Following directions that always worked before but not this time.

I am running OS 10.6.8, an upgrade that I did after Christmas. A couple of times a year, I need to make a video of my students' performances, and have always been able to add text over the still photos before, using the directions in iMovie "help." However, this time, I am not able to choose a title style; no amount of clicking makes anything show up on the selected still photo. And no amount of trying to choose the font style makes anything show up either.
This is iMovie 09; is it possible that it is not compatible with my OS upgrade?
I've been able to insert still photos into the video footage, but can't add any titles or acknowledgements. Thank you so much for your help! Since I only do this a couple of times a year, it always takes me forever to accomplish, which is why I printed off the Help directions to follow.
