Imported Pic Blurs halfway through Clip - How do I fix this?

For some time now I have been able to import a rather long .png clip, generated in Photoshop, as a background for my news and events stories.  I scroll the background bottom to top and new items 'pop' out as I chat about them.  (See http://cdn.traintalk.tv/podcasts/medium/TTTV-023-medium-CP-Empress-2816-Shakedow n-Cruise-Worlds_Longest-Model-Train-News-Events.m4v at the 4:00 minute mark).
Now, when I import the .png file, it goes blurry and out of focus.  I've tried .jpg, tif and .psd, same results.  I've tried adding it to a new video track, adding it in before the 'problem point and adding it in after.  I've recreated the file. I've tried adding it into the browser and directly dropping it into the track form the desktop.  It just goes blurry.  Rendering just proves the point as it remains blurry.
What am I missing here?  The only difference I can think of is that this is a somewhat 'longer' sequence than usual.
I'd appeciate any help anyone can offer as I'm 2 days behind the publication date ;(
Thanks,
Neil

Hi David,  Thanks, They are all checked.  I've noticed something further...  When I do a chroma key overlay, The background is in focus, when just the background is showing it blurs.
Similarly, When I have a sequence of photos, if I use a transition - say cross-dislove - during the transition, the photo is in focus, but as soon as the transition is complete, the photo blurs a bit!
Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Neil
