Imported pictures look terrible

Has anybody noticed that imported pictures from iPhoto look terrible? They're all jagged and blurry. This same issue happened with iMovie 4, I think it was, and then was fixed in iMovie 5 and now it seems to be back again.

Not a solution, but you'll find some feedback I got from my posting (jean-Claude) dated feb 5th, 06 ... "jagerred lines on slides show". I find that the problem seems to be getting worse as time goes by, and it's driving me crazy !!!

  • Canon 60D imported Pictures Look soft in lightroom3.2

The pictures i import into lightroom 3.2 in develop look soft. Im using Canon 60D RAW. Windows 7 32 bit.

Ok so this is what we get from adobe?
We see this claim frequently.  The manufacturer's software will often produce better raw development out of the box because it is able to read all of the in-camera settings.  Some of those settings are proprietary, and are hidden from Lightroom.  To overcome this, Adobe creates the aforementioned profiles available in the Develop module.  These profiles are provided to match the in-camera settings as closely as possible.  To get the best benefit from Lightroom, you need to take time to look at the different profiles and decide which one you would prefer.  Adjust an image that represents your "average" type of work until you have a result that is acceptable.  Then save those settings as your default settings.  Additionally, it might be necessary for you to create some presets for special situations, and that capability is part of the feature set in Lightroom.
To use the Lightroom effectively, you need to devote a little time to customizing it to your way of shooting.  If that seems unacceptable then you will probably continue to find that you are other software does a better job for you.
To answer your question directly, no.  You cannot use the Canon software in conjunction with Lightroom.  That software will adjust the proprietary settings that Lightroom cannot read.  Spend a little time customizing the Lightroom, and you should find that you can get excellent results from it.

  • My Picture looks Terrible in iChat AV

When I try to do a Video Chat session, I receive a near perfect video image from others using iSight and iChat AV, but I'm sending them an image that is mostly black and white with slightly angled lines, and blurry. The same image appears in the little "My Picture" window.
I've used an iSight external camera and a Logitech 3000 with the latest Ecamm drivers - the result is the same. There are no unusual services/processes running and I killed all the startup stuff.
The audio is very clear, but the image is very poor. It appears this way even if I'm not connected with anyone - just going to preferences and checking things out internally and with either camera attached
I'm using the built in Apple Airport card with good reception - I'm 10 feet from the Airport base station.
Any help would greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
One iBook 12" 1.42, it's at my daughters home in Tucson AZ. At my end is my 17" G-5 iMac, and it looks the same way on my 17" Intel iMac.
She gets a real nice image from me, and I get the almost B&W image with slightly diagonal lines, and a bit fuzzy. The audio is very good.
I VC with other people, using both the iSight camera and a USB camera setup with the correct drivers from IOXperts/Ecamm and the image I get from them is normal.
    Thanks.

  • Quality of Pictures looks terrible to Facebook and Email

OK, I have a Pearl and everything is great, except when I post pictures to Facebook and email them to people. Now posting to Flickr they look fine but sending them to Facebook and email like a Gmail account the pics come up looking slightly dithered and very low quality.
Here is a bad picture from FB

    Help!

Check your Facebook settings. I don't know of any related to that.
I upload the images via email to my Facebook account and never have that issue... much easier this way, also.

  • DVD picture looks awful

Not sure exactly where to address this. I shot some footage on my Canon 7D, edited in FCP (no effects or filters applied) and then burned a DVD. The picture looks terrible.
the h264 footage was converted in FCP into ProRes422. Frame rate was 59.94. My FCP export looks fine, but when I burn it in DVD Studio and play it on my DVD player, there are blotches everywhere and does not look clear at all. Very noticeable during pause.

Thank I'll give that a try when I get home tonight. Quick note, I played the same DVD on an SD television set and the picture looked fine, decent anyway. But on my HD TV it looked terrible.
Are you using the same playback deck? All players use different upscale algorithms and some are really awful. Then there is the setting on the TV which may have its own upscaling routine. Your DSLR footage was 720 or 1080 but your DVD is a very lossy and lousy MPEG2 that, at best, can only deliver 480 horizontal lines of severely compressed video. You are throwing away 75'% of your pixels.
Scaling that tiny number of MPEG2 pixels back up to fill a 1080 HD display means every pixel is blown up about 4 times. Every compression artifact is also four times as visible, four times as ugly.

  • Retrieving imported pictures, when location of pictures is lost.

I imported pictures to Adobe Lightroom and exported them to my memory card. Now my memory card is broke!
Is there any way to retrieve those pictures from Lightroom. Right now they are saying missing.

    Cornelia-I wrote:
I consider it very dangerous to phrase "pictures are in Lightroom".
I agree. I've known more than one person who is not so literate computer-wise to import into Lightroom, then delete originals (thinking they are now in Lightroom).
Being the author of PreviewExporter, I've helped too many people recover Lr previews after having lost originals.
I hope Adobe will try to make this clearer up front, along with "why do my imported pictures look different in Lightroom than they did in my camera...".
Anyway, I guess we need to hear from the OP now to ascertain whether the originals are recoverable somehow... best not to resort to preview recovery unless absolutely necessary.
    |> "...memory card is broke..." I assume this does not mean "it has no money"

  • Imported PNG made in Illustrator looks terrible in AE

    Hi,
I made a PNG at the size of my video 1920 x 1080 saved it for web and devices in Illustrator and when I import it in AE the graphics look terrible.
The same PNG imported in Premiere looks perfect.
    What can be the reason?!
    Thanks! David

Save it as an eps or illustrator document for AE.

  • Pictures look different when imported

For some reason when I import pictures into iphoto they look a little darker/warmer and not as crisp. Has anyone seen this before? Is there anyway to correct this issue?
    Thank you,

Sounds like the pics are not color managed, or differently color managed from iPhoto. Where are these pics from?

  • I uploaded a lot of important pictures to iPhoto, after downloading them I deleted them off my memory card. Now, iPhoto will not let me look at the pictures and the album in which I put them is empty. Where did they go? What should I do? Help please!

I uploaded a lot of important pictures to iPhoto, and then deleted them off my memory card. I tried looking at the pictures and they are no wheere to be found, the album in which they were is empty, and I looked everywhere for them. Where did they go? What should I do?

Check to make sure the iPhoto Advanced preferences are set to copy photos into the library when importing, i.e. a "managed" library:
If it is and you don't see any thumbnail in the Event they should be in apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with
Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If you are unable to get iPhoto to recover the photos MediaRECOVER can be used on the memory card to recover the photos as long a they haven't been overwritten.  It will run in demo mode so you can see if it will recover the photo before you have to purchase it.

  • Importing AVCHD and the quality looks terrible

I just tried importing my Canon Vixia HFG10 HD video clips and the results look terrible.  They look really good on the camera but in Premiere Pro 5.5 they don't.
I loaded the clips in the media browser and did a new-sequence-from-clip to match all of the specs.
    Any thoughts?
My inital browsing for solutions recommended buying some converters but after buying PP and a top-line camera I am not too jazzed about going to the wife and saying I need to buy more.

So people don't have to ask, it is a good idea to post at least a short list of your hardware

  • I am using Photoshop Elements 12 and when I am importing pictures the system freezes and needs to be forced quit. When I restart it it continues to bring the pictures in eventually. What is the solution to this?

I am using MAC os version of elements 12 with OS 10.9.4 (the latest). When I am importing pictures from a card elements freezes consistently and needs to be voce closed. When I then restart elements it continues to bring the pictures in but this is very tedious and I need to get the matter resolved,

I would do another rename to disable or just delete all the OldFilm.AEX and OldFilm.AEXOLD in that NewBlue Folder.
If you do, please let me know if that OldFilm.AEX regenerates itself the next time you open Premiere Elements 13.
Here is the strange story...at least from my Premiere Elements 13 Windows perspective...never had the No Disc error issue
Here are some details to sort through trying to figure out why you have 2 OldFilm.AEX file in the NewBlue Folder.
    1. The original OldFilm.AEX file of Premiere Elements 13 has the date of 9/4/2014 (just before the version was released on 9/24/2014).
After the 13.1 update is done (whenever date), that OldFilm.AEX file has the date of 1/31/2015. I first saw notification of the 13.1 Update
    release early in February 2015.
    2. Now in Premiere Elements 13.1, if I take my OldFilm.AEX (date 1/31/2015) and disable it by renaming it to OldFilm.AEXOLD, close out of there, and reopen
the program, the OldFilm.AEX is not seen to regenerate. The OldFilm.AEXOLD remains there as its lone self.
    3. So, I am thinking that your OldFilm.AEXOLD in the screenshoot is "original equipment" that you disabled to get rid of No disc error.
Why the OldFilm.AEX is there also is not clear, but the dating on it suggests that it came along with the 13.1 Update.
Bottom line: let us try the deletion or disabling one more time and see what happens.
Looking forward to further reports on your findings, as your time permits.
    Thanks.

  • How can I import pictures from my iphone to PC which I imported to the iphone from another PC? The folder doesn't show on my computer. I see all other pictures I took with the phone but not the imported folder.

How can I import pictures from my iphone to PC which I imported to the iphone from another PC? The folder doesn't show on my computer. I see all other pictures I took with the phone but not the imported folder.

Photos that were synced from a computer won't show for copying to a computer. If you want to copy them back then you will need a third-party app on your phone such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to a device, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer (e.g. their dimensions might be different and their colours may look a bit different).

  • How can you import pictures from the iphoto app to your mac book pro into iphoto on a mac book pro using mavericks?

I've tried to look this up on the app, and it tells me to use the iTunes file sharing and I can see anything with this trying to use both. I'm trying to keep my pictures in chronological order. Does in know how I can use this? Any help I would greatly appreciate. Thank you!

OK. This is two separate issues. To import pictures on your iPhone into your MBP, you can use iPhoto or the Image Capture app (in the Applications folder).
To use iPhoto, connect your iPhone to your Mac with its USB cable & launch iPhoto. Your iPhone will be listed it in the "Devices" panel on the left. Choose it & you will get a window where you can import all or selected photos as either "split events" or as a single event. If you need help with this, try opening iPhoto's built-in help & selecting the "Import Photos" item. That will open the Import photos from iPhone or other mobile phone help topic. Expand the Import photos from iPhone section & study it. It should answer all your questions about this better than I can!
To use the Image Capture app, you connect the iPhone & select it just like above. The app has several options for importing images, but what you may find useful if you do not want to import directly into iPhoto is that you can just drag any of the iPhone's displayed items onto the desktop or into a folder like you would any other file & they will be copied to that location.
As for organization of items in iPhoto, there are four ways they can be grouped for display (by event, by photo, by face, & by place). All except by faces offers a "By date" sort choice in the iPhoto View > Sort Photos menu item.

  • When I try to import pictures of my daughter, what gets imported is about 50 pictures of world flags, then masks.  I can't import any pictures now.  I am on MacBook Pro.  I called Applecare and honestly got 'gee I don't know' for an answer.

I can't import pictures into iPhoto.  (f I can right click and there is a choice to put in iPhoto that works fine) .  No matter what happens, even when I download them first, all that imports is a mass of pictures of flags and masks, and they are the only things that are imported, no matter what picture I try to import into my librarly.  Can anyone help me with this?  I live in a small down 5 hours from an apple store so I can't just take it in and get somene to look at it.
I am on a Macbook Pro.  I called AppleCare and all i got was 'gee, I don't know'.  Everything was fine until about 3 weeks ago

Elaine.  What are you trying to import from?  Are you inserting a camera memory card in the slot on the side of your mac? Are you connecting your camera to the mac through a USB cable? It sounds like you can see your pictures, where do you see them, on the memory card that you open on your desktop, or are you using software that came with your camera?

  • Why do imported pictures end up in an "Originals" folder I can't locate?

I am trying to import pictures to IPhoto from a CD. I am choosing "Import to Library" under "Files" on the IPhoto library menu, and then highlighting several folders on the CD.  I click the message that says do not import (all) duplicates. The import occurs. But when I check, the vast majority of the photos I had intended to import are not in the "last imported" area. If I use my "Spotlight" to locate one of the images that didn't import by typing in the exact name of the image (number plus jpg extension) I get two listing of the photo that did not import. One is (as expected) on the CD.  The other is in a folder called "Originals" in my IPhotos library. But when I scan the IPhotos library I cannot find a folder called Originals. In case it's relevant I should mention I have been using IPhotos Library manager, which has been useful. But in this particular instance, I am not using it--just trying a simple import into my IPhotos library.  Thoughts?
    All the best, David

    A few things
1 - Never go directly into the inside of the iPHoto library - there is no reason to and there are no user servicable pieces in it - only access your photos using iPhoto or the media browser - more details are available in the user tip on accessing your iPhoto files -
2 - a default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state)  is strongly recommended - a referenced library where that preference has been unchecked is not a good idea
3 - IPLM is not a photo manager - it is a library manager and is used to help manage iPHoto libraries - iPhoto is used to view, access and organize libraries
4 - what is the source o the photos on the CD? Camera? Scans? in events view try looking at the top and the very bottom of the events - depending on the source of the photos and their past history they could be anyplace - but that is a place to look -
