Imported project File wont render!?

My editor has given me my film(15min) on a hard drive which he edited on FCP. I open the project fine on my computer but it needs rendering. I wait the 2 hours for it to render when - at 98% - it kind of does nothing. Stays there forever and when it eventually says it's done it - it isn't. It plays back with 'unrendered' logo.
On the same hard drive the original media files are there.
I am new to FCP - I may be doing something obviously wrong so please stae the obvious.
Cheers

Done that which partly worked but it lead me to realise that not all the media files were in the same location - hence it would only render what was there.
Now I've got the media files all is good and working. Can at last work on my edit.
Thanks

  • Importing project files into Premiere Elements 7

I have created a new project, imported several video clips and then created a video. It was only at the point of creating the video that I reliased that I had not created the project with the correct settings.
Although the video looked fine in the editing window, the final video had black bars at the sides, and above above and below the video, and fairly think black bars. I've tried exporting as different formats, and changing the aspect ratio, but this has not helped. I've attached a jpeg of what the video looks like in Quicktime.
Other video editing software I have used, has the ability to change the project settings after it has been created, and give a warning to the user about possible problems they may encounter by doing so.
This does not appear to be the case with Adobe Premiere Elements 7, and it is extremely frustrating!!
One thing which appears to be possible with Premiere Pro, and was also available on other editing software I have used, is the ability to import projects.
So... does anyone know if it is possible to import a Premiere Elements 7 project file into Premiere Elements 7? The aim here is to create a project with the correct settings, and then import the existing project file into the timeline.
I've tried hacking the project file, which has improved the video slightly, but still not what I was expecting.
    Cheers
    Paul

This problem should have been picked up by Adobe's test analyst during testing of the product.
I am sorry, but I am not following you on this. There are Presets to match many media types. I am not at all sure how Adobe could anticipate that a user would choose the wrong one.
As I said, PrPro CS4 will both allow you to Import your .PREL (with the caveats mentioned), and work on the Project with Sequence settings to match. Unfortunately, PrE is a much less sophisticated and expensive program, than is PrPro CS4.
I'd be happy to Import your file, in PrPro with the proper Presets, but the rub would be that PrE cannot Open .PRPROJ files, so you still could not edit it.
Sorry, but the first rule of any NLE is to establish Presets that match one's Assets. PrPro CS4 (not before that version) allows one to cover their mistakes a bit, but there is still some work getting the improperly set Sequence's material into a new, properly set Sequence.
If you have access to PrPro CS4, and can finish your Project there, that would be the best. Next would be to create a New Project with the proper Presets and chalk up the lost time as a learning experience.
Sorry ot bear the bad news.
    Good luck,

  • Motion files wont render properly via qmaster

I have created animation in motion including some psd files. I have set up the render farm on two computers and its working just fine except one small issue. When the animation is being rendered(using compressor) on another computer the place where psd files suppose to be is empty. There is a hole in the animation and everything else is just fine. When the render is being done on the computer where the animation has been created everything looks fine at the end. I think the problem is that the other computer needs psd files and since psd files are on other machine the animation comes out strange.

I have solved my problem with the rendering of the motion templates in fcp
You can now select the render quality of motion templates in the preferences. I did not know this and the settings by default are set at normal. You can choose draft, normal, or best. Best so I set the quality to best and bingo. problem solved.
Setting Render Preferences for Motion Master Templates and Motion Projects
Final Cut Pro 6.0.2 is preset to render Motion templates and Motion projects at Normal quality. If the render quality is not adequate, you can change the render setting for Motion templates and projects in the Render Control tab of the User Preferences window.
When Motion master template and project rendering is set to Normal, Final Cut Pro 6.0.2 renders your templates at the same quality seen when rendering the templates at Normal quality in Motion.

  • What do I do if imported AAC files wont copy onto my iPhone? It has worked in the past with other imported files of the same type.

I have tried multiple times to sync a bunch of RHCP songs that i imported, but they wont copy onto my iPhone. I have tried isolating them in a playlist and syncing just that playlist and still nothing. please help. I have done this with other songs before and it worked fine but for some reason these ones wont copy.

I suggest taking it back to Best Buy. Once it has been opened, Apple will not handle the phone. Best Buy or another 3rd party are your only choices. Best Buy probably made an error when replacing the screen. Understand they are not an authorized Apple Service Center.

  • Imported Project File will not show Timeline

I burned my raw DV clips, title graphics and audio to DVD's along with the project file itself.
I mailed these DVD's to my editors.
My editors recieve the DVD's and open the project file on their end and it shows no timeline or timeline information.
All the dv clips are there, it gives no errors that anything is missing, and the "size" of the project file itself matches the one in my studio (that does have the tiemline with all my edits) - yet it opens on their end with no timeline information.
    What are we missing?
Project was built on Adobe Premiere Pro... they are trying to open in CS3.
    Thanks in advance.

    SOLVED.
I went back and exported an AAF file from Premeire and emailed that to them, they somehow were able to use that to get the timeline to pop with sequence now showing in the component/support list.
No idea what that is (never used it before) or why i even thought it may help, bought i found it, tried it, and it worked.

  • What to do with a Corrupt project file?  Render Errors?

    Hello,
I have a FCP project that has somehow gone corrupt. It still opens and I have access to it, but after working in it for a while, renders go crazy. I am working in DVCPRO HD 1080i60 with many layers, and a 2.35 matte. Sometimes a render misses layers, sometimes a renders put an image from the sequence in the wrong place, sometimes the render just plain goes crazy like it was on acid.
I have recently switched computers and am having the same problem. Therefore I think my project is somehow corrupt.
Does anyone know a good way to port the project to get a clean start? Please let me know. I am thinking of trying to do an XML port for the project, but the file is huge (300MB) and I worry...
    Thanks,
    D

    Hi
And this external hard disk - HAS TO be Mac OS Extended formatted (not often solsd so)
AND - Moving Events and Projects - Should be done within iMovie - NOT via Desktop/Finder !
If so there is a great risk that iMovie can't find them again !

  • Premiere to encore - export first or import project files?

I would like to make a dvd of a show, which is currently in different projects (by scene) because they are made up of many different video clips and are quite large. I don't know if my computer is going to be able to handle having all this video open at once and am wondering what the best way is to handle this, or if that is even an issue.
What is the best way to do this? Should I be importing all the premiere projects along with their associated clips into one premiere file to add the chapters? If so, does flattening help or does it bring all the full clips in anyway? Or do I bring those projects directly into Encore?
Or should I be exporting to MpegDVD first and using those, or will I lose a lot of quality?
    Thanks!

if you have Premiere Pro Cloud you may not import premiere projects into Encore CS6 since dynamic link does not work between versions... you must export MPEG2-DVD out of P-Pro and import the two (audio and video) files in Encore
    CS5-thru-CC PPro/Encore tutorial list http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1448923 may help
The bottom section of the link above has several Adobe links, and other information, on downloading Premiere Pro CS6 and the bundled Encore CS6, and the TWO ADDED downloads for the Encore library content, to author a DVD or BluRay... and the tutorial list includes learning how to use Encore... pay particular attention to the picture in reply 3 at this link - https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1516173 (picture first posted by Ann Bens and reposted by Stan Jones)

  • Project files creating dup assets (but not imported via scan)

I've looked at these two threads: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9147105#9147105
    and
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9096958&#9096958
which sort of address my question.
I do not import media via scan. I am attempting to import project files with associated media. I import a project file and it imports the media assets as well. Here's the problem. When I then go and import another project file with many of the same assets, FCSvr creates duplicate assets, but only if I import the second project file soon after the first. I waited a week and tried it, and no duplicate assets were created. I have setup periodic scans on my Library Device which is an EIP device and which is where I'm sending the files that get imported. The scans are setup to run every 10 mins or so but don't seem to have an effect. So why does this work if I wait more than a day or so and can I manually kick off the scan or whatever process I need to setup so that I avoid getting duplicate assets.
Again, I don't want to originally import the media via scan of an EIP device b/c I want to do set some metadata fields on multiple assets but not all assets in the project.
I'm really just curious what process it is that tells FCSvr that these assets already exist in the db and filesystem and how I can manually kick it off.
    Any enlightenment would be great.
    Thanks.
    H.

You probably have a full scan running overnight, which is what is catching all the media. The add only scan you have running every 10 minutes only get new media that is written to the EIP device.
If that doesn't seem to address your question, then try rephrasing it. It's difficult to understand from your explanation what you have running where, and what you're uploading where.

  • Creating smaller project files

I have been working on a project for the last 2 months or so, and it contains about 500GB of video in one project, all on an external drive. I'm creating around 30 different edits within this project to create a series of web shows all filmed at one time. I simply am just making new seqences for each edit and so forth.
When I tried to save the project one day, it took a lot longer than usual, so i cancled it but got the beach ball. I waited for a while but ended up having to force quit the project as it was freezing up my system. I went back to try to reopen the project (which is now a whopping 1.5GB) and the loading status bar would freeze at about 15% every single time. I managed to open up an auto saved version which was very close to the original, but it was only 228MB (still massive, but not 1.5GB massive). Saving this project takes ages as well, up to 15 minutes and it lags my system in the process. I have 8GB of RAM so I don't know why it would have trouble processing it.  Why are my project files so big and such difference sizes? And is there any way to open the original project file? Here is what I have tried to open it:
Open new project --> Import project file. It never ends up loading, so I quit after 15 or 20 minutes of waiting.
Load the project into AE (which works just fine) and export it out as a new PrP project file. I end up with an error message when I try to open it saying something about a sequence that doesnt exist or there is a missing codec.
I have cleaned out the cache but it doesnt seem to help, because it still wont open.
My only reasoning to this is that the projects are just too big to handle anymore. So my question is if there is any way to create smaller, more managable projects from the larger main one, rather than having a bunch of little sequences.  All of my media comes from one drive, two folders, so how would I go about maintaining the same media location as the orginal project without having to relink source media or any of that stuff.
Big thanks to any sort of help!

    The huge numbers refers to:
    - Original Project Size: the size of your project alonside all the footage linked to it.
    - Resulting Project Size: the size your project will have with the footage you used in the selected sequences.
As long as you keep the "Create Mew Trimmed Project" selected, it will not move or copy any of the footage. It will only generate a new Project with the footage essencial and used in the selected sequences. Then you can save this new project in the folder and with the name you'll want it to be. Also, you do not have to leave the option "Rename Media Files to Match Clip Names" since it will change the name of the files to the ones you gave them in the Project panel.
You can see an explanation of each option here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WS1c9bc5c2e465a58a91cf0b1038518aef7-7c72a .html

  • Can Premiere CS3 import project from Premiere 6.5

I see elsewhere that Premiere Elements cannot import project file from Premiere 6.5 and wondered if CS£ would. It would get me out of a hole if it could.

Sorry that I missed this thread first time around, and only just now noticed it. In Nick's (the OP) case, I think that Colin helped him with his problem.
As Nick, the OP, found PrElements will NOT Open a PrPro Project. As PE does not allow Import of a Project into another Project, that avenue is out. If one attempts to Open a PrPro Project in PE, they'll get an error message, along the lines of "Fool, this is a PrPro Project. You cannot Open it in PE. You must get PrPro. Fool." OK, maybe not that harsh, but close. Now, with some exceptions, PrPro WILL Open PE Projects. The biggest exceptions will be if Themes or Instant Movie were used. These do fritz up the works quite a bit. Still, a straight PE Project (PREL) will Open in PrPro fine, so long as the general versions of each program are close, or the PrPro version is newer.
As Colin points out, the only problem with going from an older version of a Project to a newer version of a Project is that "hole" that exists, because Pr was not ported for the Mac. This was from PrPro 1.0 (called 7.0 in some circles), PrPro 1.5 and PrPro 2.0. During that time, all Pr Projects were PC-only. Mac's, regardless of whether they are running CS3 (first version to be dual-platform, since Pr 6.5) or CS4. No Open, no Import.
The "trick" is to find a PC-user, who has at least CS3, or CS4, and have them Open the PrPro 1.0 through 2.0 Project. Once "converted" and Saved, then the Mac-user can Open it, provided that they have the same version of PrPro, or a later one. If the Mac-user has CS3, and the PC-user has CS4, this Open/Save will not work. If the PC-user has CS3 and the Mac-user CS4, it will work. This situation often shows Mac-users that PC-users are not such bad people after all, and that they'll usually put platform differences behind to help a fellow PrPro-user.
Above, I've outlined the steps and have also added some warnings, such as 3rd party hardware (like Matrox), Effects and Transitions. Heed those warnings carefully.
This will not help Nick now, but might help someone in the future. Remember, if you're on a Mac, and the Project was created in that time from PrPro 1.0 - 2.0, you WILL need a PC-friend to help you, and you will need to insure that your version of PrPro is at least equal to, or newer than, the PC-user's.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Imovie9 wont import my imovie project file

    I made a project on my ipad, but need to edit it no my computer. I have iOS 10.9 (maverick) and am using iMovie 10.0.3  on both machines. I following the instructions of;
    - Going to project in ipad, htting export to Itunes.
-Connecting devices, finding the project in iTumes on my copmuter, uder Apps, then saving it.
    - Opening iMovie on my computer, hitting import.
But then the project file is greyed out.
    What can I do?

    Hi There,
Reading your reply got me very excited, especially because it worked for Joe94r. But then...I tried it myself, to no avail. I did exactly as you had suggested. I copied and pasted the project to the iMovie Projects folder, and the Event it was linked with to iMovie events. I opened up iMovie and, while it recognized the Event, the project itself was nowhere to be seen.
    Any ideas?

  • Missing render file/project will not render

I'm new to using FCE - just got my iMac with FCE pre-installed a few weeks ago - and have run into a big problem with current project. When I open the program, it tells me one render file is offline and I can reconnect or continue. I have no idea where the file could possibly have gone, so I select 'continue'. But now the project will not render. I have four sequences open in the project file, and have tried everything - locking and unlocking tracks, selecting various combinations of render both, render all, render selection, rendering only audio or video, etc. All the appropriate render selections are checked in every option. But still, the project won't render any of the sequences; the render box comes up for a split second and goes away faster than the eye can follow. I've tried setting the scratch disk; that didn't help. I tried saving the project, closing and opening the project, etc. Nothing helps. It just won't render. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this problem?

When I say it won't render, I literally mean nothing happens when I hit the render command. I see the red timeline render bars. However, I see them only when I go to export the video as something else - a mov, dv stream, etc. In the project while working, there's nothing indicating render is required.
To try and solve this problem of the missing audio clip, I opened a new project and imported the .mov file I was working with initially, which theoretically should have all its parts intact. I made the necessary modifications to the file (essentially starting all over) and then attempted to render. It still won't render. Nothing happens at all when I click any of the render options, even after I've made modifications to the video that would clearly require render - changing the aspect ratio and applying a widescreen video filter. So the program should recognize the changes and render, but nothing happens, whether I choose render from the menu or hit the keyboard shortcut.
I'm a little hesitant to try scrapping the preferences as suggested above, but I am totally perplexed.

  • Importing Premiere cc 2014 project file

Is it possible to import a premiere pro cc 2014 project file into premiere cc?  One guy at work has 2014 and I have just regular CC.

    Hi,
No you wont be able to open premiere pro cc 2014 project in cc.
In order to open the project in cc, you need to export an xml and import it in premiere pro cc.
But you will loose titles and effects used in the project.
    Thank You
