Imported video all black?

Shot test footage on my Sanyo Xacti VPC-FH1. Importing the video produced an all black screen, but you can hear the sound. Playback on the camera is just fine.
The video is black when connecting the camera prior to the actual import, so that should tell you something. The camera shoots in H.264 format, so it is compatible right?

Thanks for that. I think reducing the quality of the camera defeats the object.
I've sorted the problem now and uninstalled it and asked for refund !
I'll stick to Imovie - no problems with that.

Importing is all black

when trying to import footage into iMovie 13 all of the footage is black and won't import in....please help!!

Are both clips the same type? There are codecs that iMovie won't handle very well.
If the second is the same as the first, I wonder if they are avchd, and you are only dragging in part of the info needed by dragging and dropping?
If the second is like the first and the first works well, I would try repeat the attempt a few times, then delete preferences, then, if I really really wanted the second file, put it into Mpeg Streamclip, which is a free transcoder, and transcode it to h.264, which I am sure iMovie will import.
You can also try to get the clip to play on your desktop with quicktime player, and see if it plays, and look at the inspector to see what the heck kind of clip it is.

Imported Video is all black but audio still works

Hello,
I have a Nikon V1. Whenever I shoot video using the 1080/60i setting and upload those video clips into Final Cut Pro X, they have no video, they just appear black.The audio works but there is a weird background noise that shouldnt be there. The main issue is that I can't use the video because it is all black.

Photos on Facebook are all black, likewise full screen Youtube videos.

When I click on a Facebook photo, it quickly shows a full size blurry sketch, then turns all black. I can watch Youtube videos small, but when I make them full screen, they are all black.
Without first uninstalling Firefox, I downloaded Firefox and installed it again. It didn't improve the situation.

Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

Ae cs5 importing seq images all blacked out or only one frame - help

I created a pan background and keyframed it and it is working fine. I then brought in pngs with transparent background as a seq and the image is all black when they imported into ae cs5 once one image was brought in correctly (the first image of the seq). I have batch converted to psds with same results. What am I doing worng importing in seq to work over the pan background?
And I have tried PSD image sequence file - it only brings in one frame.

I just did some tests. If you export the png's using the save for web and other devices and png 24 then things work fine with grayscale images. If you save grayscale images as png's directly then the png's are aparently saved as png 8's so they won't work properly in After Effects. Any pixel not completely white is rendered black.
To be honest I've never run into this before. It may be worthy of a bug report.
I'm not sure what technique you're using to remove the background from the originals but a jpg made from the original png file can be used as an Luma Inverted matte on a black solid to create the transparency. A little adjustment to the jpg sequence with levels will clean up most of the garbage. This would give you an acceptable result without resorting to a bunch of processing to try and create transparent pngs.

Flash CS3 import Video playback appears half black

Hello everybody,
I hope you could help me.
This problem occurs when a file becomes. wmv to .swf, using Adobe Flash CS3 import video feature. (Windows 7 Professional x64)
At the end is a video (codec On2's VP6.2) which appears a black band at the top half. I reinstalled the entire CS3 suite, but the problem persists.
Could you give me some advices for this?

How to fix this!

Check to see if the phone has enough free space on it. Go to Settings->About on you iPhone and see how much free space there is. It's likely that your phone is out of free space. You could also try using a free peice of software called Pic Share It, to drag and drop the video directly to your iPhone wirelessly. Here's a video showing how it works.

Experimental advice (in this particular context) coming up.
Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:
... and click OK. Quit and restart the QuickTime Player prior to checking to see if the settings change has had any effect.

Imovie video playback is all black

Although in the event view I can see all the thumbs of the video, when I actually go to play the video, its all black in the video playback. Anyone have any idea whats going on??? Its only happening for a handfull of events.

I have the same problem. With all the videos in my library. Some videos are from the Canon XH-A1 camera, which is standard HDV. The others are from my Panasonic HS-100.
It seems that all the files are encoded with Apple Intermediate Codec.

At the top middle of the screen is a clips filter. Make sure that "All Clips" is selected.

All Black Imbedded Video Playback Option Gone?

i used to be able to watch video in three sizes, and the small & medium sizes were surrounded by all black...now i've only two sizes and i can't watch the small size surrounded by all black (only the large, full-screen size, which i most often don't want to do)...all the screen lighting's annoying...help

Video artwork all black

For some reason almost all the artwork (pictures) for my videos are black, i still have a picture in the artwork option on itunes, and if it has no artwork it should have a picture of a part of the video but its black still. there is only 1 video that has its artwork, and a couple podcasts.

Yeah I had this problem too and all I did was resync my music and videos. I don't know if this is related, but it seems to go black after I downloaded some podcasts to my iPod then synced them with iTunes. This problem happened quite a few times to me and just this last time I haven't downloaded any podcasts and everything's been good.

Sometimes syncing will have problems with very large video files like this. I'm not sure you will be able to overcome this, but if the videos are important enough you may consider purchasing 3rd party software such as Touch Copy to transfer them.

Video refuses to import at all.

Hello everyone.
I have a strange issue with itunes on my dual G5.
I cannot import video art all, whether it's converted or not using various settings...however, using the same encoded files on my G4 powerbook they will import into itunes.
I have used streamclip to convert and eyeTV's export to ipod option...and quicktime. None of the files i have converted import. It won't import non comverted files either. All play in quicktime.
I have tried dragging and dropping, importing and adding to library....No luck however i try.
Both are Version 7.
All suggestions most welcome.

Can someone give me a link or some specific instructions on reverting back to iTunes 6?
I tried, and when I re-installed iTunes 6 and tried to open it I got an error message saying it wouldn't open because my library had been created witih a newer version of iTunes. I must have missed something.

My first thought was that maybe when you imported you chose to leave the files in place rather than copy then to the iMovie library..but I can't see where that option is now.
I too have created a short movie from load f clips..but can't export or share either..the 'Share 'menu is empty..you go to it and no sub menu appears.
