Imported video doesn´t show up

Hello people, I am a Flash beginner user
I am trying to import a .flv video to my flash website
I do it by choosing the "Progressive download from a webserver" option
In the .swf file generated, the video runs normally , but when I run my website trough the index.html file and I go
to the page where It is supposed to be, the video doesn´t show up, as if it never existed
I don´t know what may be hapenning.

I haven´t uploaded the website to the server yet,
the video doens´t show up even when I run the index.htm file form my desktop !
I ask myself if it might be a problem of layer order or something.

Video Doesn't Show While Capturing in PrCS4

Hi,
I was capturing my video into PrCS4 just fine last night and then when I switched tapes, my video didn't show anymore in the capture window. It plays on my camcorder and in the capture window I can press play/stop/etc. and the counter on the left is counting the time just fine. I also took the tape to work this morning where I have a SonyDVCam deck, but that gives me another issue where Pr recognizes it, but when I hit play on the deck it sounds like it's playing, but nothing appears on the capture screen and the counter doesn't even move. My camcorder is a Canon HV30, using Sony MiniDV tape, shot in DV widescreen. I tried turning off the camera and turning it back on, opening and closing the capture window (cause that seemed to work earlier in the evening), and restarting Premiere and the computer as well. Nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

Set your camera to DV, not HDV. Preview will show. Or try Scenalyzer, much better for DV. If you have HDV there is no preview nor scenedetection during capture, as explained in the help file and manual. Try HDVSplit for HDV material, again much better than Adobe. Preview and scendetection are available with this application for free.

Video doesn't show?

I don't know if this has already been answered but the video podcasts that I have on my iPod I can find through the Top Rated Playlist but not directly through the Videos one. Does anybody know how I can put it so it shows up when you go to Videos?

It doesn't show up under Videos-->Video Podcasts?
Does the podcast show up under Music-->Podcasts on the iPod?
Also, open iTunes and connect your iPod. Click on the iPod when it appears in iTunes under "Source." Does the video podcast have a little TV/video icon next to it in iTunes?

Help! When I import video it only shows up as audio

Every time I try importing video or even try previewing it, it will only playback and show up as audio. I have tried both Quicktime and AVI video formats and nothing seems to work. I have been able to import an audio only file with no problem, but I really need the video clips and I don't understand why they won't work. I tested them on my computer and they work with other programs. Is there a setting on Adobe Premiere Pro that I neeed to change, or am I just doing something wrong?

For honor sake let me say that I hope you aren't downloading files to more or less steal them. I, for instance, have a sort of religious/philosophy channel at YT and I'll sometimes use short excerpts from movie clips for teaching purposes. I don't know if it's technically legal to do so, but no one seems to object to my using 30-seconds or so from a clip in this way.
I'm sure there are people here who can tell you some easy way to do this with a program you have to pay for, but having grown up watching too much Jack Benny has made me a such a tightwad that I will always do things the cheap way even if it means jumping through a number of hoops. So let me tell you my process of hoop jumping before someone else tells you the easy store bought method (otherwise known as the "right way").
There are a number of ways to get something off YouTube as you've no doubt learned by now. However, most of those ways will only download the low quality version of the file. YT also keeps high quality versions of many of those files (depending on what codec was used in uploading them to begin with) on a separate server. Sometimes a YT video will have an "HQ" button you can toggle to see the file. Sometimes they don't see it, but there is an HQ file somewhere anyway a lot of the time. To see that file place the following after the url:
&fmt=18
Here's an example. If you go to the following url it will take you to the regular low quality version of this particular YT video:

Now you'll notice that there is indeed an HQ button you can push on this video to watch the high quality version, but let's pretend it isn't there and instead we'll use that little shortcut on the end of the url that I showed above so that the url now looks like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVAZGNAxUNw&fmt=18
No matter what download tool you use to get the video from YT, try to remember to use that shortcut ending piece for the url so the app will know without a doubt that you want the HQ version if one exists because sometimes these apps aren't able to find the HQ version without some help.
I recommend downloading the free version of
Any Video Converter. It will both download the YT video (the high quality version will be an mp4 file) and then it will convert it to something more usable of your choice.
Another good download tool is called
Orbit. It can download videos from other sites besides YT, but it always downloads the flv.
Any Video Converter, unfortunately, won't let you change the file to an uncompressed AVI, nor to a DV-AVI. The highest quality it has available to convert the file to is NTSC mpg2 DVD standard, or you can choose to use the HD setting for a wmv file, but it takes a long time to do the latter, and considering the low quality of YT videos to begin with, seems kind of senseless to me.
I then bring my new mpg2 file into the mpg version of
VirtualDub and change it to an uncompressed AVI. And then I can easily bring that AVI into Premiere and either work with it natively or change it to a DV file (which I usually do before editing).
There's a DV codec you can download that will allow VDub to convert the mpg2 directly to DV-AVI, but I don't trust it as I've noticed a lot of posts by people saying that it makes some of their other programs unstable.

Aperture 3 Import Dialog Doesn't Show Any Images

Sometimes the import dialog just doesn't show any images. First time I encountered this I had to restart Aperture. But now even that doesn't help.

You don't say what your source is when your imports have been experiencing problems. Are you importing directly from a camera (or a card in a card reader)? Or are you importing images which have already been downloaded to your hard disk?
I've just completed importing approximately 5,000 images which date back to 2001, across several hundred projects. These have, obviously, been imported from an existing disk-based archive. Every so often, I'd find what you've described - the import window with the source correctly selected, but no preview images. I never worked out a pattern for this behaviour. However, I found dealing with it +for my particular circumstances+ was as simple as pressing <escape> to cancel the import and then immediately beginning the import again. It never failed on the second time around. I never needed (for this problem) to quit and restart Aperture, let alone reboot my system.
The problem I just described was being experienced on a fully patched 3.0.1 system. Of course, you might be experiencing something slightly different...

Import dialog doesn't show files anymore (not even the ones on the hard drive)

I shoot pictures with a D70 (canon) and i imported them always with no problems. After a update or installation of a external program the import dialog does not show any pictures anymore. It's a black screen. The files can be read from the filebrowser and are regular cr2 files (raw files). What can I do? There are 149 files on the card and non are shown, see below

FCP X 10.0.9 Import Window doesn't show folders on desktop

Hello,
I have a number of folders on my desktop that contain movie files, jpeg files, you name it. When I try to import from the desktop, the import media window only shows the files and not the folders they are in! I have thousands of files on my desktop! For the life of me I can't figure this out. I have included a screen shot of what my window looks like when I select the desktop to import media. Again, I have a number of folders that don't show up, only the files in them. This is maddening when trying to import files! I know i can move the files to my hard drive but i am used to desktop work flow. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Shut down FCP X, open PreferenceManager and in the window that appears:-
1. Ensure that FCP X is selected.
2. Click Trash
The job is done instantly and you can re-open FCP X.

Flash Video doesn't show progress or load bar

when stalling/loading (eg like youtube and millions of other online
video) otherwise the user thinks the video isn't loading or
playing.
I've tried two things:
1. Creating the flv using Flash Video Encoder results in a
40MB flv. I then insert the flv into my page in dreamweaver. The dw
tools pop up and I choose progressive download and my skin etc. The
resulting page plays the video fine but there's no progress bar or
loading stripes when the video is loading/stalling.
2. Inserting the video into a flash file and creating a swf
which is then inserted into the html page - as per the instructions
by media247 on this page:

- no luck doing that either, it shows the player controls with a
blank video screen until the video is buffered, then plays the

Imports, but doesn't show up?

I imported my clips from my Canon FS11 camcorder to iMovie '08. It says it successfully imported all of my videos and yet, one clip is missing. I go look up the event in my finder and I find my clip there. How is it possible that the clip is in the event folder in my finder and it doesn't appear in my iMovie events list? Is it because my clips is too long (approx. 28 minutes)?

Setting imported Video as "TV Show"

In iTunes, there are 4 main categories for video. Movies, music videos, podcasts, and TV shows.
When I import my videos onto iTunes, iTunes automatically puts them under the category "Movies." I also found that when you edit the video's information, you can go to the Options tap and toggle the Video Kind between the categories Movies and Music Videos.
However, I have several video clips that I want to be under the category of TV shows, to help me better organize my video files on my Mac. I was just wondering if anyone knows of a way to change the Video Kind for a video file to the category of TV Shows. Any information would be very helpful.

A similar topic was posted just recently. You can use the freeware Lostify at http://home.comcast.net/~lowellstewart/lostify/ to classify a movie file as a TV Show instead of a movie.

Marking imported video as "TV shows"

Hi,
I ripped some TV show DVD's take with me on my brank spanking new iPod. I've managed to import them fine but it only lists them as 'movies' within iTunes and I can't seem to get them marked as TV Shows. Marking the genre has no effect they still remain in 'movies'. This wouldn't be a huge deal if it wasn't for the fact that TV Shows on the iPod in a similar fashion to allbums, i.e. hierarchal folders.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With the video highlighted in iTunes, choose File: Get Info
Towards the top of the window that pops up, select the "Options" tab
You should now see a pulldown menu labeled "Video Kind:", and one of the options is "TV Show"

Synced videos doesn't show up on iPad

Hello,
I have two videos (one mp4 and one m4v) that I've successfully transfered to the iPad through iTunes.
But when I start the Video app, the screen says "No Videos".
How do I make the synced videos show up on my iPad?
If I go to Settings -> General -> About on the iPad, it says 0 movies.
But in iTunes, the movies are in fact on the iPad, and I can watch them fine, streamed from my iPad, within iTunes on my PC.

Just been struggling with this issue myself on my little girl's iPad. Turns out that I had synced a rated movie but had restrictions on the iPad that prevented viewing of that movie. I lifted the restrictions (in General settings) and the movie appeared.

Imported video file not showing up

Hey guys,
I recently upgraded to a new MacBook Air and began with a clean install. Today I was trying to import a video file in iMovie. It was an HD quality movie, just under 2 hours long, an m4v file, about 2,5 GB. I started importing it, and it took forever (like, 6 hours or something). When it was finally done, there was nothing to see in iMovie. I had made a new event to which it should've been added but it just wasn't there. I went to the Finder to check the 'Movie' folder because that's where the files are copied to, and it was empty as well.
However, here's the strange part. While importing, I noticed that the free space on my Macintosh HD started to drop. After the failed importing, 15 GB of space was gone, but oddly enough I couldn't find a file of that size anywhere.
So, what do I do? My hard drive space is precious to me because I have to work with a relatively small SSD and suddenly, 15 GB is gone. I can't recover the 15 GB because I can't find the file that should've been there after importing in iMovie.

Downloading youtube videos - doesn't show in 'downloads folder'

Hi there I am new to MACs etc and used to download videos from youtube using quicktime on Windows.
I have read the blogs re finding the video, going to Windows>activity; double-clicking once the buffering has happened, and then supposedly the clip should download to 'Downloads'. Mine just doesn't download - is there something I need to set in Preferences please?

Import schema doesn't show any link id.

Hi,
- If you can't see a Link ID in the dropdown of the BICA Import Schema screen, make sure that PIP is actually connecting properly to PAS.
- In the SM Administrator you must go to the Manage Models screen and create a Model Connection (BICDEFAULT) to be used by the BICA tool.
- Stop and start the SAP SM Extended Listener and the SAP SM Listener services. If you are running SM 7.5 with the JPIP version of Interactive Publisher, go to the JPIP Session Monitor from the Tools menu and restart JPIP.
