Imported video is way too fast!

i'm using iMovie for the first time and I've been noticing all day that the video files I imported seem a little too fast. I compared them to the original videos, and guess what- the sound is sped up too! all the voices are a little too high-pitched and the video is a little too fast. At least the sound is in synch. But everyone sounds a little Chipmunky.
I have no idea what the frame rate for the original video files are, so I don't know how to fix it.
Someone please help! This is driving me nuts!

Hi honeybadgers
If you click on a clip and bring up the inspector for clip/video/audio, the third section has "Speed" control where you can slow down or speed up the clip.  Slow the speed of the clip and the sound should become right too.
Good luck

  • Photoshop video tutorials are too fast

The videos are all too fast. Why don't you offer email tutorials with step by step instructions on how to use Photoshop? Then we can work at our own pace.

There are some great sources for step-by-step Photoshop tutorials. One of them is psdtuts+, create a photo realistic digital painting in photoshop.
Peachpit Press also offers some great books on Photoshop that offer step-by-step tutorials as well.
Digital Arts Online also offers some great step by step tutorials.
These are all are in addition to Photoshop.com and AdobeTV. When I follow a tutorial, I often watch a step, pause, then complete the step on my own computer. this way, I don't miss a step!

In Logic X, the mouse click wheel scroll is way too fast on the arrange window and the piano roll.  Is there a way to adjust this?  This is the way I scrolled for MIDI editing on Logic 9

Hi cris2121, assuming you're using a mouse from apple, go to >System Preferences<
it's here where one can configure a mouse device.
Additionally you can also configure Scrubbing in Logic: "When in scrub mode, you can slowly move the playhead in the Tracks Window and the Audio (and optional MIDI) will be played back. The playback speed depends on how fast you move the Playhead in either direction."
    Have a nice day!

  • IMovie import plays WAY TOO FAST!

I am importing video from a DV (Sony DCR-HC96) straight into iMovie. The transition is smooth and recorded content plays in normal time from DV camera. During transition, the video appears in normal speed on the Mac.
However, when the import is completed -- and I try and PLAY the video on my Mac (MacBook Pro), the speed of the movie is SCREAMING FAST (16x-20x too fast.)
    Anybody feeling smart about this?
    Would really(!) appreciate your help....

    Welcome to iMovie Discussions.
When you say "transition" I think you mean "import" ..the process of passing the video from the camcorder into iMovie. (..A "transition" is generally something which you apply in iMovie; a means of changing from one video clip to another via a 'cross-fade' or a 'dissolve', etc..)
The specifications for this camera, on Sony's page (click on that blue link) and on Amazon's page both mention..
    "..Progressive Shutter System
A mechanical shutter system that provides progressive scan performance while utilizing an interlaced scanning system. Digital still images will be sharp and clear with excellent definition."
If you've shot your movie(s) using progressive recording (..using a shutter speed marked 'p', such as '30p' or '24p'..) then iMovie may play it back faster than normal. This is because iMovie normally expects DV to consist of two 'interlaced' fields of video (two sets of lines which each make up half-a-picture) instead of single full frames of video.
(..On the other hand, the "progressive" in the specifications may refer only to still photos; it's not easy to tell from the descriptions whether or not the video may be shot as progressive, too..)
If it's NOT playing fast because you've shot progressive video ('p') instead of interlaced video ('i'), then I can't think of a reason just now why it'd be playing fast ..sorry.

    Hello,
Do you mean that when you see the video inside Video Creator, slide 10 appears for a split second and then jumps to slide-11?
Can you record the same scenario in diagnostic mode and send us the logs.
    Follow these steps -
    1. Close Video creator if it is already opened
    2. In Windows > Programs > look for "Troubleshoot Adobe Presenter Video Creator"
    3. Launch the same and record the exact same steps
    4. Stop recording > Ensure that the issue has been reproduced.
    5. Close the application.
    6. While closing, it will prompt you to send us an email with collected log reports.
Kindly send the logs. We will go through it and get back to you.
It will also be great if you can send us the presentation in which the issue is reproducible.

  • CS4 premiere Imported .avi files play too fast

    Hi Guys
I have a problem. I'm new to CS4 having used Adobe Premiere 6.0 in the past and I have never had this issue when importing .AVI files. What happens is that the file play fine in my windows enviroment and on all my players VLC,DIVX, Windows media player.
But as soon as I import these files into my project at 29.97 frames the video plays really really fast and the sound plays at the normal rate. If I try to change the frame rate the sound also changes. Now here is the strange part. If I convert the files to MP4 they play fine! but the quailty of the video takes a massive hit as you know.
I tried to convert the files to .MOV, MPG (which the program won't play) and most other types of video files but MP4 seems to be the only one that works! When I really want the higher quailty .AVI. Again the files play fine outside of CS4 Premiere and I have already converted them from a Panasonic AVCHD encode format.
Please if anyone has any advise it would be great as I have to get this sorted for a x-mas present!

  • Video Audio plays too fast

I seem to have this problem with videos from
finance.yahoo.com when I never had this problem? Anyway to slow it
down? I don't recall ever having this problem and I did a uninstall
reinstall of flash player. works on youtube, etc with no problem
but every videos from finance.yahoo.com is too fast.

Does Streamclip allow you to choose between Type 1 and Type 2 DV AVI? If so then you want Type 2 in your conversions.
    Cheers

  • Video on imported AVCHD files is too fast

I recently got a Panasonic Lumix that shoots AVCHD video. I upgraded to iMovie '09, since it is supposed to be AVCHD-compatible. However, the AVCHD files I imported in iMovie have the video playing super fast, while the audio is normal. I've tried switching between NTSC and PAL formats, with no change.
Anyone else experience this? Anyone know why this is happening? Help please?

  • AVCHD clips imported in FCE play way too fast.

    Hi there,
I am a video newbie, I am trying to import AVCHD clips from an SDHC card into FCE using log and transfer method. All is well until I start working on the clip in the viewer, the clip is for sure playing at 2X speed, I am not sure why. It might be a simple solution, but I sure can not find a solution. The clips I am testing with were shot on a Lumix TS-1. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Labib

From memory AVCHD, I can't remember the exact settings as far as frame rate and such, I can sure check it when I get back home. Do I have to set the frame rate and such into the capture preferences before I import?
    Thanks for the reply

  • Movie gets sudden change in fps (running way too fast)?

    Hi
I am currently trying to port a game that I wrote in as2 to use as3.
Most of my code is divided into classes but my art and buttons are placed on the time line and divided into different scenes.
Now getting access to these objects are no problem. I just wait for a render event and then I get their reference by using getChild from the root object.
Now my problem is that when I change scenes the game suddenly speeds up and run really fast for some time and then goes back to normal.
My first experience with this problem was when I added a skip button to my  game intro.
since I didn’t stop it but simply chanced scene it went on playing in the ”background” as I could still hear the sounds from it.
now when I entered the new scene every animation ran twice as fast or even faster and it stopped once my intro  finished in the "background" or wherever it was . I solved the problem by simply stopping all animations before changing scene and thought that was the solution, but I soon discovered that, that didn’t work at some places.
When I had made the menu scene working and started moving between some other scenes without animations but with lots of movie clips the problem reappeared.
I tried to track my problem down to some move clips  and I sort of did find some that I could remove to solve my problem but these clips only contained one frame and had text in em so there was no animations to stop. Also the speedup got pretty random, sometimes I got lucky and the speedup didn’t happen but most of the times they did.
Now my question is why are these speedups happening, and how do I prevent them?
I have been thought about copying everything on each scene into a movieclip and then add and remove those clips to stage, and when I change scenes I just swap em, but there has to be a better way to solve this problem right ?

are you using setInterval() anywhere?  runaway intervals are the most common cause of anything occuring too rapidly.

  • After effects looping way too fast

    Hello all,
First, please be advised I am brand new to this so please bare with me while I'm getting my feet wet. I followed this tutorial on youtube Make A Cool Intro | After Effects & Photoshop Tutorial - YouTube and go through most of it pretty easily, however, I used a 10 second time line and the loop seems to cross every second instead of over the 10 second period. Now, I did notice that if I click anywhere along the time line, I seem to have either a 1 second or 2 second interval all the way from 0 to 9, and can't ever actually get to 10 on the time line, only as far as 9 with the highlighted area covering the space between 9 and 10. I believe that is why it's looping so fast, however, I have absolutely no idea how to extend the area the entire 10 seconds. Any assistance would be highly appreciated!

    Three items:
First, if I understand the question correctly, hit the End key the CTI (aka timeline cursor) goes to the end of the comp.  Hit the e (for end) key to extend the comp workspace.  AE will RAM Preview as much of the timeline as there is RAM available.
Ah, but we don't know how much RAM you have!  So you need to go here to learn the diagnositc info we need:
FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?
And third, YouTube tutorials can be iffy.  It's far better to lean AE from the AE Pros instead of some high school kid who can miss things, don't you think?  In which case, you go here:

  • WebCam Live! Pro: Video Playback Plays Too Fast...

I recorded a few clips for about 0 to 5 seconds each. When i playback on different players, PowerDVD, DivX Player, Windows Media Player and even the WebCam Center's own player, the video plays like its fastforwarding, and it says that the video is only 2 to 3 seconds long. The recording
    format is:
    Colour Space/Compression: RGB24
    Output Size : 640 x 480
    Frame Rate : 30fps
Compression Control : All the way to Better Quality
And also what does the 30fps mean? Does it mean smooth video like those on television? Or, 30fps in WebCam terms, means better and smoother video over other WebCams?

Try turning off automatic exposure in the settings. And adjust some of the other settings (gamma, brightness, exposure) until you get a picture which you're happy with. And try that. In the UK, films are made at 24fps (frames per second) PAL format, and in America it's 30fps NTSC format. So yes, 30fps is as good as it gets! It's as good as TV and better than a lot of other webcams.
