Importet keywordslist to Bridge. Problem tagging keywords.

I've got a new pc and installed bridge. All the imported images are tagged with the keyword. I have also imported the index list. When I try to add multiple tags to a photo I receive an error message. What is causing this?

It's only the images that are already tagged. The ones that I have transferred trom the old to the new PC, ready tagged. I dont get the error when I tag keywords to new picture.. I can try delete det the index list. I am just worry that jeg have to tag all 11 000 pictures one more time.

Why does cs3 bridge not import all the tags/keywords in my jpg files.  I can see all of the tags/keywords using windows explorer (win 7 64 bit), but about 2500 of 3000 don't have the tags/keywords in bridge. Does bridge have any limit on the number of keywords per file and or length of keywords?

Bridge is primarily a file browser and reflects the files and the contents of their metadata. You can import a keyword list to the keyword tab and you can choose to add keywords from that list to your files. Then Bridge saves those data to the file IPTC data.
If Bridge does not show content that you can see in an other application then make sure the data is in the right place. Open a file in Photoshop and then use menu file / file info (also able to use in Bridge) and see if the keywords are in the keywords field in theIPTC section.
If so then in Bridge point to that file and with right mouse click choose 'purge cache from selection' and after the file has been recached check if the data shows.
If so go the menu tools / cache / purge cache for folder and this will let the content of the whole folder start recaching and refreshing itself.
Also keep in mind that Bridge CS3 can be acting very problematic and is know as the worst version ever
Does bridge have any limit on the number of keywords per file and or length of keywords?
Not to my knowledge, just tried to add a couple of hundreds (copying from the exported text file keyword list) and pasted directly in the metadata panel IPTC field keywords and they all showed without problems.

  • Problems with keywording in Bridge CS4

    Hi,
I am using Bridge CS4 to add keywords and captions (descriptions) to my photos. However, I have noticed that when I change the photos from location, from one folder to another, Bridge cannot recognize the keywords anymore (no problem with the captions). The same happens if I change the name of the folder where the photos are in. This problem happens if I do those folder changes outside Bridge AND also INSIDE Bridge.
However other programs (Picasa, Windows7 AND surprisingly Photoshop CS4) will recognize the keywords after those folder changes.
Can someone help me with this Bridge problem ? is this a well known bug ?
    Anthony

i have tried with 2 out of the 3 options. I cannot purge the cache, i will then loose all the information (labels, ratings,...) on my big database (160,000 images). (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331083.html)
    It did not work ;-(
Another very strange thing, i noticed that the 10% of pictures that were not affected by the problem are in 99% of the cases vertical (portrait pictures)...
Thanks for trying to help !

  • Bridge find by keyword no longer finds anything

I have Creative 3 Suite Design Premium installed on an HP notebook running Vista SP1 64-bit. I have updated Bridge manually to 2.1.1.9. The Bridge find by keyword function (e.g., right click on a keyword in the hierarchy, and select find in the current folder) no longer ever finds a photo by keyword. This is true even if the photo is in the folder that is currently open within Bridge.
I have tried reinstalling CS3 completely. I have tried deleting the file Adobe Bridge Keywords.xml, and also the entire contents of the Cache folder, both under [me]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS3. Neither fixes the problem. The problem has been escalated within HP Tech Support, but unfortunately I was out when they called back today. But in any case, I thought I would throw the question open to this forum, hoping that someone might have some ideas. Thanks.

If you hold down ctrl and F, for the find window, type in keyword, and click on "include non-indexed folders" will it find it?
If the folder has not been indexed it will find nothing. But you don't need to have it checked all the time as it will re-index every time if you do, which is slow.

  • Selectively ignore Problem Tags Dialog  while importing Tagged Text in CS5.5

    Hi
My script imports tagged text and places it in selected frames. Due to the tag creation process used, I occasionally get a "Ignoring character level attribute termination tag "<cTracking:>" found without the corresponding character level attribute application tag "<cTracking:value>"
Since it's not a problem I can ignore this specific error -- but I don't want to turn off ALL problem tag error checking because occasionally there are serious errors that I DO want to see.
Is there a way to tell ID to ignore this specific error?
    Thanks
    Akiva

UNfortunately the original ascii files uses a <D> code to return to the default settings -- and since that occasionally includes resetting the tracking to 0 I need to include the "<cTracking:>" tag.
I could obviously fix it by adding a "<cTracking:0>" to all the codes -- but that seems like it could cause more problems.
I can preprocess the ascii code to eliminate the excess codes -- but that increases processing time for something which happens only occasionally and is non-problematis in practice.

  • Why do I have to physically enter a folder through Bridge, before Bridge will read keyword metadata

I am a DAM specialist, and trying to figure out a temporary workflow for our designers. I'm currently using photo mechanic 5 to enter batches of metadata to files, then seeing if the keyworded terms are easily findable via Bridge. It's SUPER frustrating, that the user has to PHYSICALLY go into each sub folder in Bridge before the keyword data will populate search items when searching a larger folder. This sort of defeats the purpose of searching a directory doesn't it? It seems as though I could not rely on Bridge to be a good way for a group of designers to search large directories of files I've taken the time to label. Am I wrong?

this is the main barrier for using it more. The data is not read in real time.
I agree on your slow statement in general although using a fast system with SSD speeds things up. However you have  a wrong idea on the indexing and caching part.
Bridge is working at its best in a single user environment and assuming your designer have a user account on their system this is where Bridge stores its cache. Normally you need to cache the files only once (sometimes when in trouble you need to purge or dump the cache), the newest files also need to be cached but this is automatically done when pointing to the folder. Indexing also is needed once per file and yes, on slow systems with large files this can take a while.
An other option is to let the users point to to the main folder and select menu view, view items from subfolders and ideally let it run overnight to cache the lot once totally, after this things will go faster.
But as said, Bridge is not the ideal DAM application...

  • Import meta data file - bridge. Adding keywords to existing files

    Hi There.
I have an excel log with file names in one column, keywords in another.
I have the same art files in bridge, sans any keywords.
Is it possible to import my excel log (or csv, or whatever format) into Bridge, and have it see those file names, and add the associated keywords to the files which have the same file name within Bridge?
Rather not have to keyword alllll the files again since I already have the data.

Can somebody new to Bridge CS3 and with no programming expertise import metadata into Bridge.
I have much data in a FileMaker Pro file.
    Thank you,

  • Beans - Active-x Bridge - Problems!

    Hi,
I developed an ip address bean based on JTextField (JDK 1.3.1_02), successfully packaged it as an active-x control using the packager and instructions in the active-x bridge tutorial.
The control has all sorts of problems under visual basic: to name a few:
    1. The caret seems to disappear when the control receives focus
    2. The tooltips dont seem to show up.
    3. The focus lost event does not seem to fire in the control.
Is it worth for me to trace these issues or is the activex bridge not really practically used by anybody ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Vishy

    Vishy,
Did you by any change find a solution to your ActiveX Bridge problem, I'm stuck with the same shit..
    Thanks,
    Harvey
P.S. Maybe nobody works with this technology except maybe none-visual components?

  • Tags/Keywords : iPhoto iPhone / iPhoto Desktop

Can tags/keywords be transferred from iPhoto iOS to iPhoto Desktop? I just bought the iPhoto app for the iPhone and haven't been able to import the tags to import to the desktop version. Is there anyway that I can tag my pictures ON MY PHONE that allows me to import them to my desktop using smart albums???

No.  The two apps are different and independent from each other.
However, you may be able to export your photos out of your Mac's iPhoto library to a folder on the Desktop with the options to include keywords, titles, and other metadata, and the transfer that folder via iTunes to your iPhone.  The metadata might get read.  You can ask in the iPhoto for iOS forum if that workflow would work.

  • Virtualbox bridging problem

I post this a second time, this time more precisely
    Op. System is: Archlinux 64bits
    uname -a:
    Linux archie 2.6.31-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Nov 10 19:01:40 CET 2009 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
    so
I've installed virtualbox_bin 3.1.0-1 from AUR (the only way possible on a 64 bits opsys, besides the install stuff from Sun)
Followed the installation given on the Arch Wiki
I've tried all three methods ( vbox way, arch way, general ) to get bridged networking to work
( I'm a lazy guy, I prefer the Vbox way, all my modules are loaded)
All my VMs are running fine with NAT, everything works,
but bridging produces a strange error:
Clients get network adresses via DHCP,
    even fixed IP settings work,
    I can ping ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING
    but no internet connection!
I have observed the (physical) network card with Iptraf of the HOST machine, the result is strange:
ICMP packets go through but no TCP/IP communication is possible between my hosts and the exterior world
AH, I forgot the most interesting one, I've an archlinux VM too, HE IS WORKING FINE, EVEN IN BRIDGED MODE!!!!
    Is that a bridging problem?
Is that a kernel problem? ( Vbox worked well with the latest kernel - 2.6,30 -, if I remember well...)
What the hell is going on there?
( I really need bridged network, as I use Vbox essentially for network testing purposes)
    Please, help!

After three weeks of research I have found lots of people having trouble with Virtualbox bridged and host-only networks
the (partial ) solution is to change the virtual network card, for me Intel Desktop M worked fine with my Debian guest
but Ubuntu doesn't want to do anything with it
for some people it works, for others it forks for a while, for others it doesn't work at all...
    Buggy stuff

  • Is there a tagging/keyword mechanism in Mail (Mac)?

Is there a tagging/keyword mechanism in Mail (Mac)?  Right now, I am just meticulous about my organization structure with my current 'mailboxes' and 'smart mailboxes'.  In addition, I will sometimes export messages to finder and utilize it's more sophisticated file structure and keywords (soon to come tabs) to keep all my necessary items in order.
Just wonderin' if I have missed something in Mail as it is.  I love the program, but I just need a little more.

Are you using Tiger Server? Are the other mail systems using LDAP? If so, see here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=serveradmin/10.4/en/c7od21.html
